A Strigolactone Biosynthesis Gene Contributed to the Green Revolution in Rice显示文摘Plant architecture is a complex agronomic trait and a major factor of crop yield, which is affected by several important hormones.Strigolactones(SLs)are identified as a new class hormoneinhibiting branching in many plant species and have been shown to be involved in various developmental processes.Genetical and chemical modulation of the SL pathway is recognized as a promising approach to modify plant architecture. However, whether and how the genes involved in the SL pathway could be utilized in breeding still remain elusive. Here,we demonstrate that a partial loss-of-function allele of the SL biosynthesis gene,HIGH TILLERING AND DWARF 1/DWARF17(HTD1/D17),which encodes CAROTENOID CLEAVAGE DIOXYGENASE 7(CCD7),increases tiller number and improves grain yield in rice.We found that the HTD1 gene had been widely utilized and co-selected with Semidwarf 1(SD1),both contributing to the improvement of plant architecture in modern rice varieties since the Green Revolution in the 1960s.Understanding how phytohormone pathway genes regulate plant architecture and how they have been utilized and selected in breeding will lay the foundation for developing the rational approaches toward improving crop yield.Yuexing Wang Lianguang Shang Hong Yu Longjun Zeng Jiang Hu Shen Ni Yuchun Rao Sanfeng Li Jinfang Chu Xiangbing Meng Lei Wang Ping Hu Jijun Yan Shujing Kang Minghao Qu Hai Lin Tao Wang Quan Wang Xingming Hu Hongqi Chen Bing Wang Zhenyu Gao Longbiao Guo Dali Zeng Xudong Zhu Guosheng Xiong Jiayang Li Qian Qian 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,6:23
Xiaowei, a New Rice Germplasm for Large-Scale Indoor Research显示文摘Dear Editor,Rice (Oryza sativa)is a model monocot plant for biological studies due to its relatively small genome, rich germplasm resources, and high-efficiency transformation methods.Although significant progress has been made in rice genomics and functional genomics research (Li et al.,2018),large-scale indoor research toward better understanding of rice biology is hampered by its long growth period and extreme dependence on the natural environment for cultivation. There are some rice germplasms that have a short growth period and short plant height, such as Kitaake.Shikai Hu Xingming Hu Jiang Hu Lianguang Shang Guojun Dong Dali Zeng Longbiao Guo Qian Qian 2018Molecular Plant2018,11,11:10
HOXC10 up-regulation promotes gastric cancer cell proliferation and metastasis through MAPK pathway显示文摘Objective: As an important regulator of embryonic morphogenesis,homeodomain-containing gene 10(HOXC10) has been found to promote progression of human cancers and its expression indicates poor survival outcome. However, very few studies are available on the role of HOXC10 in gastric carcinoma. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the role of HOXC10 in gastric cancer and the potential mechanism underlying its function for cancer biology. Methods: A primary gastric cancer mouse model was obtained via intra-gastric wall injection of gastric cancer cells and was used to evaluate the function of HOXC10 during gastric cancer progression in vivo.Immunohistochemistry was performed to visualize and measure HOXC10 protein expression in gastric cancer tissue.Cells were transfected with plasmids to increase the expression of HOXC10,and si RNA transfection was performed to suppress HOXC10 expression.Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and western blotting were utilized to measure m RNA and protein expression, respectively.Proliferation, migration, and invasion were investigated using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay, wound healing assay, and matrigel invasion assay in vitro, respectively. Results: HOXC10 expression was significantly increased in gastric cancer tissues compared to matched normal tissues.HOXC10 up-regulation significantly increased tumor volumes in nude mice.Plasmid transfection significantly increased HOXC10 protein and m RNA expressions and effectively promoted cell proliferation.Moreover,HOXC10 up-regulation significantly promoted migration and invasion of gastric cancer cells.Mechanistic investigation showed that HOXC10 up-regulation significantly increased m RNA and protein expression of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) signaling related genes, including c-myc,c-jun and p53,while also modulating the phosphorylation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK),extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK) and P38 but not their total protein levels. Conclusions: This study demonstrated the tight link between HOXC10 and gastric cancer cell proliferation and metastasis via involvement of the MAPK pathway.Chen Guo Jianing Hou Sheng Ao Xingming Deng Guoqing Lyu 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6:10
Web-based visualization of spatial objects in 3DGIS显示文摘Adaptive rendering large and complex spatial data has become an important research issue in a 3DGIS application. In order to transmit the data to the client efficiently, this paper proposes a node-layer data model to manage the 3D scene. Because the large spatial data and limited network bandwidth are the main bottlenecks of web-based 3DGIS,a client/server architecture including progressive transmission methods and multiresolution representations, together with the spatial index, are developed to improve the performance. All this makes the application quite scalable. Experimental results reveal that the application works appropriately.ZHANG LiQiang GUO ZhiFeng KANG ZhiZhong ZHANG LiXin ZHANG XingMing YANG Ling 2009Science in China(Series F)2009,52,9:5
Quality evaluation of rubber-to-metal bonded structures based on shearography显示文摘The quality of bonding is often a concern in rubber-to-metal bonded parts with regard to the integrity and stability of the structure. In this study, shearography has been used to detect the out-of-plane deformation of the defects caused by thermal and vacuum stresses. A sample of the vulcanized styrene-butadiene rubber bonded to steel with known artificial voids was prepared and during bonding process a region was glued with thick adhesives. The rubber surface of the sample was inspected in thermal radiation and vacuum modes respectively with a self-designed shearography device. Meanwhile, a numerical simulation was conducted to predict the out-of-plane deformation of the rubber surface in these two stress modes. Results from the numerical simulation and the experiments indicated that the debonding defects could be inspected in both loading modes. In the thermal radiation mode the region with thick adhesives could be identified successfully. This study provides a guideline for quality control of rubber-to-metal structures using an optical method.LIU Bin GUO XingMing QI GongJin ZHANG DongSheng 2015Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2015,58,7:2
Tumor pyruvate kinase M2:A promising molecular target of gastrointestinal cancer显示文摘Gastrointestinal(GI) cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide.Tumor markers are valuable in detecting post-surgical recurrence or in monitoring response to chemotherapy.Pyruvate kinase isoform M2(PKM2),a glycolytic enzyme catalyzing conversion of phosphoenolpyruvate(PEP) to pyruvate, confers a growth advantage to the tumor cells and enables them to adapt to the tumor microenvironment. In this review,we have summarized current research on the expression and regulation of PKM2 in tumor cells, and its potential role in GI carcinogenesis and progression.Furthermore,we have also discussed the potential of PKM2 as a diagnostic and screening marker, and a therapeutic target in GI cancer.Chen Guo Guan Li Jianing Hou Xingming Deng Sheng Ao Zhuofei Li Guoqing Lyu 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,6:2
A nonlocal strain gradient shell model incorporating surface effects for vibration analysis of functionally graded cylindrical nanoshells显示文摘In this pap er, a novel size-dep endent functionally graded (FG) cylindrical shell model is develop ed based on the nonlocal strain gradient theory in conjunction with the Gurtin-Murdoch surface elasticity theory . The new model containing a nonlocal parameter, a material length scale parameter, and several surface elastic constants can capture three typical typ es of size e ects simultaneously , which are the nonlocal stress ef- fect, the strain gradient e ect, and the surface energy e ects. With the help of Hamilton’s principle and rst-order shear deformation theory , the non-classical governing equations and related b oundary conditions are derived. By using the prop osed model, the free vibra- tion problem of FG cylindrical nanoshells with material prop erties varying continuously through the thickness according to a p ower-law distribution is analytically solved, and the closed-form solutions for natural frequencies under various b oundary conditions are obtained. After verifying the reliability of the prop osed model and analytical method by comparing the degenerated results with those available in the literature, the in uences of nonlocal parameter, material length scale parameter, p ower-law index, radius-to-thickness ratio, length-to-radius ratio, and surface e ects on the vibration characteristic of func- tionally graded cylindrical nanoshells are examined in detail.Lu LU Li ZHU Xingming GUO Jianzhong ZHAO Guanzhong LIU 2019Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2019,40,12:2

Understanding tissue-specificity with human tissue-specific regulatory networks显示文摘Tissue-specificity is important for the function of human body. However, it is still not clear how the functional diversity of different tissues is achieved. Here we construct gene regulatory networks in 13 human tissues by integrating large-scale transcription factor(TF)-gene regulations with gene and protein expression data. By comparing these regulatory networks, we find many tissue-specific regulations that are important for tissue identity. In particular, the tissue-specific TFs are found to regulate more genes than those expressed in multiple tissues, and the processes regulated by these tissue-specific TFs are closely related to tissue functions. Moreover, the regulations that are present in certain tissue are found to be enriched in the tissue associated disease genes, and these networks provide the molecular context of disease genes. Therefore, recognizing tissuespecific regulatory networks can help better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases and identify new disease genes.Weili GUO Lin ZHU Suping DENG Xingming ZHAO Deshuang HUANG 2016Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,7:1

A new tunable elastic metamaterial structure for manipulating band gaps/wave propagation显示文摘A one-dimensional mechanical lattice system with local resonators is proposed as an elastic metamaterial model, which shows negative mass and negative modulus under specific frequency ranges. The proposed representative units, consisting of accurately arranged rigid components, can generate controllable translational resonance and achieve negative mass and negative modulus by adjusting the local structural parameters.A shape memory polymer is adopted as a spring component, whose Young’s modulus is obviously affected by temperature, and the proposed metamaterials’tunable ability is achieved by adjusting temperature. The effect of the shape memory polymer’s stiffness variation on the band gaps is investigated detailedly, and the special phenomenon of intersecting dispersion curves is discussed, which can be designed and controlled by adjusting temperature. The dispersion relationship of the continuum metamaterial model affected by temperature is obtained, which shows great tunable ability to manipulate wave propagation.Zhenyu WANG Zhaoyang MA Xingming GUO Dongsheng ZHANG 2021Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2021,42,11:1

Bandgap characteristics of the two-dimensional missing rib lattice structure显示文摘In this paper, the bandgap characteristics of a missing rib lattice structure composed of beam elements are investigated by using the Floquet-Bloch theorem. The tuning of the width and position of the bandgap is achieved by changing the local structural parameters,i.e.,the rotation angle, the short beam length, and the beam thickness. In order to expand the regulation of the bandgap, the influence of the material parameters of the crossed long beams inside the structure on the bandgap is analyzed. The results show that the mass density and stiffness of the structure have significant effects on the bandgap, while Poisson’s ratio has no effect on the bandgap.By analyzing the first ten bands of the reference unit cell,it can be found that the missing rib lattice structure generates multiple local resonance bandgaps for vibration reduction, and these bandgap widths are wider. The modal analysis reveals that the formation of the bandgap is due to the dipole resonance of the lattice structure, and this dipole resonance originates from the coupling of the bending deformation of the beam elements. In the band structure, the vibrational mode of the 9th band with a negative slope corresponds to a rotational resonance, which is different from that with the conventional negative slope formed by the coupling of two resonance modes. This study can provide a theoretical reference for the design of simple and lightweight elastic metamaterials,as well as for the regulation of bandgaps and the suppression of elastic waves.Fan YANG Zhaoyang MA Xingming GUO 2022Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2022,43,11:0
