| 1 | Discovery of Late Cretaceous foraminifera in the Songliao Basin: Evidence from SK-1 and implications for identifying seawater incursions显示文摘The Songliao Basin is the largest oil-bearing basin in China.In the absence of sufficient evidence,the possibility of seawater incursion(s) into the Songliao Basin remains controversial.Recently,we discovered relatively abundant foraminifera fossils from units 1 and 2 of the Nenjiang Formation of borehole SK-1.Benthic foraminifera (Gavlinella sp.,Anomalinoides sp.,Pullenia sp.,Haplophragmoides sp.,Karrorulina hokkaidoana,Clavulinoides sp.),as well as planktonic foraminifera (Archaeoglobigerina blowi,Archaeoglobigerina cretacea and Hedbergella flandrini),were identified.These fossils were widely distributed in the marine Cretaceous.According to the global distribution of the above-mentioned planktonic foraminifera,the age of these fossil bearing strata appears to be Late Coniacian to Santonian.More importantly,these foraminifera provide direct evidence for marine water incursions into the Songliao Basin during deposition of the Lower Nenjiang Formation. | XI DangPeng WAN XiaoQiao FENG ZhiQiang LI Shun FENG ZiHui JIA JianZhong JING Xia SI WeiMin | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,3: | 21 |
| 2 | Discovery of Paleogene marine stratum along the southern side of Yarlung-Zangbo suture zone and its implications in tectonics显示文摘The Jiachala Formatiom is a new lithostratigraphic unit set up in this paper. This is the first report on the Paleogene marine sequences and microfaunas in Gyangze to the southern side of the Yarlung-Zangbo suture zone. On the basis of fossil abundance, species diversity, dominant species and first and last occurrences of key species, three dinoflagellate assemblages and three polynological assemblages were recognized in the Jiachala Formatiom. They are in ascending order as follows: Apectodinium quinquelatum-Apectodinium hyperacanthum, Cannin- gia chinensis-Palaeoperidinium pyrophorum and Cymatiosphaera reticulosa-Samlandia chla- mydophora dinoflagellate assemblages, and Arliaceoipollenites baculatus-Anacolosidites sub- trudens, Aglaoreidia cyclops-Pinuspollenites microinsigis, and Elaeangnacites asper-Ilexpol- lenites iliacus polynological Assemblages. According to the assemblages, the age of the Jiachala Formation is referred to Paleocene-early Eocene. The preliminary study on the Jiachala Forma- tion shows that this group of Paleogene deposits accumulated in an underfilled peripheral fore- land basin which was in response to the load of the crust thickening resulted from the Asia-India collision. The stratigraphic evidences provided by the evolution of foreland basin indicate that the India-Asia initional collision should occure near the Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary. The de- velopment and evolution of the southern Tibet foreland basin was under the control of the stress field from the subduct-collision between India and Asia and the structure pattern of the basement. | 3 | Late Cretaceous chronostratigraphy(Turonian—Maastrichtian):SK1 core Songliao Basin,China显示文摘Non-marine ostracodes,charophytes and palynomorphs are abundant in most Cretaceous lacustrine basins of East Asia.However,their ranges are not directly integrated with marine biota that defines the Cretaceous stages.Non-biotic events such as magnetochrons and radiometric ages in these terrestrial deposits enable their correlation with marine strata.The SK1 north and south eomposited cores in the Songliao Basin present a continuous section of Upper Cretaceous non-marine fossil and magnetochron successions in superposed order.These chronostratigraphic events are integrated with marine events by an X/Y graphic plot between the core data and a global database of Global Section and Stratotype Points (GSSP) and key reference sections.This plot projects stage boundaries in marine sections into the SK1 section and interpolates numerical ages to the first and last occurrences of biota and to lithostratigraphic boundaries.This stratigraphic experiment tests and refines age calibrations based on both manual interpolation of depths to numerical ages and cyclostratigraphy.Ages derived by interpolation are similar and ages by cyclostratigraphy are older because stage boundaries are calibrated to a different age scale. | Robert W. | 5 | Nanotwinned and hierarchical nanotwinned metals:a review of experimental,computational and theoretical efforts显示文摘The recent studies on nanotwinned(NT)and hierarchical nanotwinned(HNT)face-centered cubic(FCC)metals are presented in this review.The HNT structures have been supposed as a kind of novel structure to bring about higher strength/ductility than NT counterparts in crystalline materials.We primarily focus on the recent developments of the experimental,atomistic and theoretical studies on the NT and HNT structures in the metallic materials.Some advanced bottom-up and top-down techniques for the fabrication of NT and HNT structures are introduced.The deformation induced HNT structures are available by virtue of severe plastic deformation(SPD)based techniques while the synthesis of growth HNT structures is so far almost unavailable.In addition,some representative molecular dynamics(MD)studies on the NT and HNT FCC metals unveil that the nanoscale effects such as twin spacing,grain size and plastic anisotropy greatly alter the performance of NT and HNT metals.The HNT structures may initiate unique phenomena in comparison with the NT ones.Furthermore,based on the phenomena and mechanisms revealed by experimental and MD simulation observations,a series of theoretical models have been proposed.They are effective to describe the mechanical behaviors of NT and HNT metals within the applicable scope.So far the development of manufacturing technologies of HNT structures,as well as the studies on the effects of HNT structures on the properties of metals are still in its infancy.Further exploration is required to promote the design of advanced materials. | Ligang Sun Xiaoqiao He Jian Lu | 2018 | npj Computational Materials2018,,1: | 14 |

| 7 | Late Cretaceous palynology and paleoclimate change:Evidence from the SK1(South) core, Songliao Basin, NE China显示文摘Cretaceous climate was warmer than today.The Songliao Basin contains one of the most important Late Cretaceous non-marine deposits in China for the research of the paleoenvironment and paleoclimate.This research is based on core samples from the SK1(S)borehole.The strata sampled are the upper part of the Quantou Formation to member 2 of the Nenjiang Formation,where spores,pollen,dinoflagellates,and other microfossils are abundantly preserved.Based on analysis of the spores and pollen fossils from the core samples,the following six fossil assemblage zones have been recognized in ascending order:The Cicatricosisporites-Cyathidites-Pinuspollenites,Schizaeoisporites-Cyathidites-Classopollis,Cyathidites-Schizaeoisporites,Schizaeoisporites-Cyathidites-Proteacidites,Proteacidites-Cyathidites-Dictyotriletes,and the Lythraites-Callistipollenites-Schizaeoisporites zones.The six fossil zones range from the late Cenomanian to early Campanian.The Late Cretaceous dinoflagellate cysts in the Songliao Basin are of high abundance and low diversity.Specific phytoplankton types reflect salinity changes of the Songliao Lake.Paleoecology of the dinoflagellates suggests that sediments of members 2 and 3 of the Yaojia Formation(K2y2+3)were deposited in a freshwater environment,whereas members 2 and 3 of the Qingshankou Formation(K2q2+3)and members 1 and 2 of the Nenjiang Formation(K2n1+2)were deposited in freshwater to brackish water environments.Combined with the paleoecology of dinoflagellates and the palynomorph biozones,valuable information of the paleoclimate was provided.The quantitative analyses of spores and pollen fossils,such as vegetation type,climate type,and humidity type,diversity and dominance,indicate a relatively sub-humid,mid-subtropical paleoclimate,with slight climatic fluctuation and/or temporal change. | ZHAO Jing WAN XiaoQiao XI DangPeng JING Xia LI Wei HUANG QingHua ZHANG JinYan | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,12: | 10 |

| 11 | High-precision geochronology of the Early Cretaceous Yingcheng Formation and its stratigraphic implications for Songliao Basin,China显示文摘The Songliao Basin in Northeast Asia is the largest and longest-lived rift basin and preserves a nearcontinuous continental succession of the most of the Cretaceous period,providing great material to investigate the adaption of the terrestrial systems to the Cretaceous greenhouse climate and tectonic events.However,the paucity of precise and accurate radioisotopic ages from the Early Cretaceous strata of the Songliao Basin has greatly held back the temporal and causal correlation of the continental records to the global Early Cretaceous records.Three tuff layers intercalated in the Yingcheng Formation have been intercepted by the SK-2 borehole,which offer excellent materials for radioisotopic dating and calibration of the chronostratigraphy of the Lower Cretaceous sequence of Songliao Basin.Moreover,the Yingcheng Formation recorded the largest and the last of the two major volcanic events in Songliao Basin,which also represents a turning point in the basin evolution history of Songliao from syn-rift stage to post-rift stage.Here we report high-precision U–Pb zircon geochronology by the CA-ID-TIMS technique on three tuff samples from the Yingcheng Formation of the SK-2 borehole in the Songliao Basin to construct a greatly improved,absolute age framework for the Yingcheng Formation and provide crucial age constraints for the Songliao Lower Cretaceous Strata.The new CA-ID-TIMS geochronology constrained the Yingcheng Formation at 102.571+0.320/-2.346 Ma to ca.113 Ma,correlating to the Albian Stage.Combined with the previous published Songliao geochronology,the Quantou Formation is constrained to between 96.442+0.475/-0.086 Ma and 91.923+0.475/-0.086 Ma;the Denglouku Formation is constrained to between 102.571+0.320/-2.346 Ma and 96.442+0.475/-0.086 Ma;the age of the Shahezi Formation is estimated at ca.113 Ma to ca.118 Ma,which could extend to ca.125 Ma in some locations in Songliao Basin.The major unconformity between the Yingcheng Formation and the Denglouku Formation,which represents the transition of the basin from syn-rift to post-rift is thus confined to between 102.571+0.320/-2.346 Ma and 96.442+0.475/-0.086 Ma.This is roughly contemporaneous with the change in the direction of the paleo-Pacific plate motion from west-southwest to north or northwest in mid-Cretaceous,suggesting their possible connections. | Tiantian Wang Chengshan Wang Jahandar Ramezani Xiaoqiao Wan Zhiqiang Yu Youfeng Gao Huaiyu He Huaichun Wu | 2022 | Geoscience Frontiers2022,13,4: | 5 |

| 14 | Biostratigraphy of a Paleocene-Eocene Foreland Basin boundary in southern Tibet显示文摘This study of the Paleocene—Eocene boundary within a foreland basin of southern Tibet, which was dominated by a carbonate ramp depositional environment,documents more complex environmental conditions than can be derived from studies of the deep oceanic environment.Extinction rates for larger foraminiferal species in the Zongpu-1 Section apply to up to 46%of the larger foraminiferal taxa. The extinction rate in southern Tibet is similar to rates elsewhere in the world,but it shows that the Paleocene fauna disappeared stepwise through the Late Paleocene,with Eocene taxa appearing abruptly above the boundary.A foraminifera turnover was identified between Members 3 and 4 of the Zongpu Formation—from the Miscellanea—Daviesina assemblage to an Orbitolites—Alveolina assemblage.The Paleocene and Eocene boundary is between the SBZ 4 and SBZ 5,where it is marked by the extinction of Miscellanea miscella and the first appearance of Alveolina ellipsodalis and a large number of Orbitolites. | 16 | Calcareous nannofossil changes linked to climate deterioration during the Paleocene-Eocene thermal maximum in Tarim Basin,NW China显示文摘The Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum(PETM) event was a dramatic global warming w55.93 Ma ago that resulted in biological extinction events, lithological changes, and major deviations in σ13 C and σ18 O.The southwestern Tarim Basin of China exposes successive Paleogene strata as a result of Tethys evolution and is considered an ideal region for PETM research.Based on calcareous nannoplankton biostratigraphy, we also used stable isotopes and XRD to analyse the Paleocene-Eocene transition in the Tarim Basin. At the Bashibulake Section, the PETM interval is characterized by(1) an abrupt negative shifts in σ13 C_(org), σ13 C_(carb) and σ18 O(-3%, -4.5% and -3%respectively);(2) an obvious negative correlation between the K-mode(Discoaster, Fasciculithus, Ericsonia, Sphenolithus and Rhomboaster) and r-mode(Biscutum, Chiasmolithus, Toweius) nannofossil taxa coincident with a robust Rhomboaster-Discoaster assemblage; and(3) a significant increase in the percentage of detrital input along with an increase in gypsum content. In the upper part of the Qimugen Formation Micrantholithus and Braarudosphaera are commonly found right up to the top where most of the nannofloras suffer a sharp decrease. In the overlying Gaijitage Formation, calcareous nannofossils disappear completely. These events indicate that the southwestern Tarim Basin was a warm shallow continental shelf during the deposition of the Qimugen Formation. From the early Eocene, the environment changed conspicuously. Evaporation increased and sea level fell, which led to an acid climate.This climate mode continued within the youngest unit studied, the Gaijitage Formation, characterized by the deposition of thick evaporates. | 17 | Late Mesozoic Tectonic Evolution of Southwestern Fujian Province,South China:Constraints from Magnetic Fabric,Zircon U-Pb Geochronology and Structural Deformation显示文摘A combined study of magnetic fabrics, zircon U-Pb geochronology and structural deformation was carried out for Late Paleozoic sedimentary and Mesozoic magmatic rocks in the southwestern Fujian rift basin, South China, aiming at deciphering the tectonic evolution during Late Mesozoic. Field observations showed that the Late Mesozoic structure deformations in southwestern Fujian were categorized into four phases: NW-SE compression, ENE-WSW extension, NNE-SSW compression and NNW-SSE extension, sequentially. Zircons picked out from Juzhou granite and WNW-trending diabase dykes showed complete crystal shapes and clear oscillatory zonings on their edges, and the U-Pb dating yielded ages of 132 and 141 Ma, respectively. The susceptibility ellipsoid magnitude parameters of the Juzhou granite are characterized by flaser type strain ellipsoid, with pole density center of K3 falling into the first and the third quadrants, these features revealed that the Juzhou granite formed in ENE-WSW compressional stress field, indicating the early stage of Early Cretaceous extrusion in southwestern Fujian. The late stage of Early Cretaceous NNE-SSW extension was limited by the widespread WNW-trending diabase dykes, which were usually regarded as important indications for a regional extensional setting. | 18 | Emission-Reductive and Multi-Objective Coordinative Optimization of Binary Feed for Atmospheric and Vacuum Distillation Unit显示文摘A genetic algorithm based multi-objective coordinative optimization strategy is developed to optimize the operation of a binary feed atmospheric and vacuum distillation system, in which the objective functions cover the economic benefit, the furnace energy consumption and the CO_2 emissions, and meanwhile the simultaneous effect of binary feed composition is also investigated. A cross-call integration of software is developed to implement the optimization algorithm,and once the maximum economic benefit, the minimum furnace energy consumption and the minimum CO_2 emissions are obtained, the Pareto-optimal solution set is worked out, with the practical problems of the refinery being solved. | 19 | Dietary energy sources and levels shift the multi-kingdom microbiota and functions in the rumen of lactating dairy cows显示文摘Background: Dietary energy source and level in lactation diets can profoundly affect milk yield and composition.Such dietary effects on lactation performance are underpinned by alteration of the rumen microbiota, of which bacteria, archaea, fungi, and protozoa may vary differently. However, few studies have examined all the four groups of rumen microbes. This study investigated the effect of both the level and source of dietary energy on rumen bacteria, archaea, fungi, and protozoa in the rumen of lactating dairy cows. A 2 × 2 factorial design resulted in four dietary treatments: low and high dietary energy levels(LE: 1.52–1.53;and HE: 1.71–1.72 Mcal/kg dry matter) and two dietary energy sources(GC: finely ground corn;and SFC: steam-flaked corn). We used a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design using eight primiparous Chinese Holstein cows with each period lasting for 21 d. The rumen microbiota was analyzed using metataxonomics based on kingdom-specific phylogenetic markers [16 S r RNA gene for bacteria and archaea, 18 S r RNA gene for protozoa, and internally transcribed spacer 1(ITS1) for fungi] followed with subsequent functional prediction using PICRUSt2.Results: The GC resulted in a higher prokaryotic(bacterial and archaeal) species richness and Faith's phylogenetic diversity than SFC. For the eukaryotic(fungi and protozoa) microbiota, the LE diets led to significantly higher values of the above measurements than the HE diets. Among the major classified taxa, 23 genera across all the kingdoms differed in relative abundance between the two dietary energy levels, while only six genera(none being protozoal)were differentially abundant between the two energy sources. Based on prokaryotic amplicon sequence variants(ASVs) from all the samples, overall functional profiles predicted using PICRUSt2 differed significantly between LE and HE but not between the two energy sources. Fish Taco analysis identified Ruminococcus and Coprococcus as the taxa potentially contributing to the enriched KEGG pathways for biosynthesis of amino acids and to the metabolisms of pyruvate, glycerophospholipid, and nicotinate and nicotinamide in the rumen of HE-fed cows. The co-occurrence networks were also affected by the dietary treatments, especially the LE and GC diets, resulting in distinct co-occurrence networks. Several microbial genera appeared to be strongly correlated with one or more lactation traits.Conclusions: Dietary energy level affected the overall rumen multi-kingdom microbiota while little difference was noted between ground corn and steam-flaked corn. Some genera were also affected differently by the four dietary treatments, including genera that had been shown to be correlated with lactation performance or feed efficiency.The co-occurrence patterns among the genera exclusively found for each dietary treatment may suggest possible metabolic interactions specifically affected by the dietary treatment. | 20 | Jurassic-Cretaceous Boundary Strata of the Somanakamura Group in NE Japan and their Correlation with Coeval Terrestrial Deposits in China显示文摘Defining the Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary is a controversy in stratigraphic study of the world. It has been widely accepted that this boundary can be defined at the bottom of Berriasian in Tethys, with the appearance of the ammonite Berriasella jacobi dating to ca. 145 Ma. However, it is difficult for the widespread terrestrial deposits in China to correlate with the international standard of marine facies. The Somanakamura Group in Japan is represented by a succession of marinecontinental transitional strata. It provides a bridge of marine and nonmarine stratigraphic correlation. The ammonite and radiolarian fossils preserved in this group suggest an age from Bajocian to early Valanginian. The J-K boundary was defined in or atop the Tomizawa Formation of the group according to the ammonite data. The present authors study the fossil spores and pollen newly found from the Tomizawa and Koyamada formations. Three assemblages have been recognized. They are Assemblage 1(Cyathidites-Classopollis) from the upper part of the Tomizawa Formation, Assemblage 2(Cyathidites-Jiaohepollis) from the lower part of the Koyamada Formation, and Assemblage 3(Cyathidites-Spheripollenites-Ephedripites) from the middle to upper part of the Koyamada Formation. With the reference of ammonite evidence, the J-K boundary can be defined between Assemblage 1 and Assemblage 2. This palynological J-K boundary can be correlated with that of terrestrial sequence in China. However, local biostratigraphy imply that the continental J-K boundary in China is of 135 or 137 Ma age. It has a considerable discrepancy from the marine standard. Biogeographically, the distribution pattern of spores and pollen in southern China is in accordance with that in the Somanakamura Group, which parallels the Tuchengzi Formation in northeastern China.
