| 3 | Microbial community structure in an integrated A/O reactor treating diluted livestock wastewater during start-up period显示文摘In order to investigate the correlation between reactor performance and the microorganisms,an integrated A/O reactor was operated for 72 days to treat diluted livestock wastewater.Chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency increased from 79% to 94%,with total nitrogen (TN) removal efficiency from 37% to 50% (HRT 7.4 hr) when the influent COD and TN were ca.1500 mg/L and 95 mg/L,respectively,and the outlet COD concentration was less than 100 mg/L at the end.Microbial community was monitored during start-up period by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) based on 16S rRNA gene.DGGE profiles showed that microbial community had changed significantly during the start-up and these shifts were in accordance with the reactor performance.UPGMA clustering analysis showed that 14 anaerobic samples fell into five main groups and so did the aerobic ones,but the grouping patterns were different.Phylogenetic analysis indicated that microbial populations in the anaerobic compartment belonged to Firmicutes,Proteobacteria,Chloroflexi and Bacteroidetes,while Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Firmicutes,Verrucomicrobiae and Nitrospira were present in the aerobic compartment.In the anaerobic compartment,more fermentative and acetogenic bacteria were detected during the start-up while denitrifying bacteria faded away.Two functional populations such as Nitrospira defluvii and Dechloromonas denitrificans were observed when nitrogen removal was high,indicating that simultaneous nitrification and denitrification occurred in the aerobic compartment. | Lijiao Ren,Yining Wu,Nanqi Ren,Kun Zhang,Defeng Xing State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resource and Environment,Harbin Institute of Technology,Harbin 150090,China. | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010，22，5： | 14 |
| 4 | Liver-infiltrating CD11b−CD27− NK subsets account for NK-cell dysfunction in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and are associated with tumor progression显示文摘Natural killer(NK)cells have a vital role in killing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)cells;however,the mechanism underlying tumor-infiltrating NK(TINK)-cell dysfunction remains poorly understood.Using flow cytometry staining,we precisely characterized the frequency,phenotype and function of NK subsets distinguished by CD27 and CD11b in 30 patients with HCC in comparison to 30 healthy controls.Interestingly,we found a substantial proportion of liver-infiltrating CD11b−CD27−(DN)NK subsets in tumor tissue from HCC patients.Remarkably,these relatively expanded DN NK subsets exhibited an inactive and immature phenotype.By detecting the expression of CD107a and interferon-gamma(IFN-γ)on NK subsets and NK cells,we demonstrated that DN NK subsets exhibited a poor cytotoxic capacity and deficient potential to produce IFN-γin comparison to the other three subsets,which contributed to the dysfunction of TINK cells in HCC patients.In addition,we found that the presence of DN NK cells was closely associated with the clinical outcomes of HCC patients,as the frequency of DN NK cells among TINK cells was positively correlated with tumor stage and size.A large percentage of DN NK cells among TINK cells was an independent prognostic factor for lower survival in the 60-month follow-up period.In conclusion,a substantial proportion of CD11b−CD27−NK subsets among TINK cells accounts for NK-cell dysfunction in patients with HCC and is associated with tumor progression.Our study may provide a novel therapeutic target for the treatment of patients with HCC. | Qiong-Fang Zhang Wen-Wei Yin Yang Xia Ya-Yang Yi Qiu-Feng He Xing Wang Hong Ren Da-Zhi Zhang | 2017 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2017，14，10： | 14 |
| 5 | Association between Ambient Air Pollution and Outpatient Visits for Acute Bronchitis in a Chinese City显示文摘Objective To investigate the short-term association between outdoor air pollution and outpatient visits for acute bronchitis,which is a rare subject of research in the mainland of China.Methods A time-series analysis was conducted to examine the association of outdoor air pollutants with hospital outpatient visits in Shanghai by using two-year daily data(2010-2011).Results Outdoor air pollution was found to be associated with an increased risk of outpatient visits for acute bronchitis in Shanghai.The effect estimates of air pollutants varied with the lag structures of the concentrations of the pollutants.For lag06,a 10 μg/m3 increase in the concentrations of PM10,SO2,and NO2 corresponded to 0.94%(95% CI:0.83%,1.05%),11.12%(95% CI:10.76%,11.48%),and 4.84%(95% CI:4.49%,5.18%) increases in hospital visits for acute bronchitis,respectively.These associations appeared to be stronger in females(P<0.05).Between-age differences were significant for SO2(P<0.05),and between-season differences were also significant for SO2(P<0.05).Conclusion Our analyses have provided the first evidence that the current air pollution level in China has an effect on acute bronchitis and that the rationale for further limiting air pollution levels in Shanghai should be strengthened. | GUO Li Juan ZHAO Ang CHEN Ren Jie KAN Hai Dong KUANG Xing Ya | 2014 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014，27，11： | 13 |

| 8 | MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING CHARACTERISTICS AND SURGICAL RESULTS OF ADRENOCORTICOTROPIN-SECRETING PITUITARY ADENOMAS显示文摘Objective To evaluate magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)characteristics and surgical results of adrenocorticotropin(ACTH)-secreting pituitary adenomas.Methods MRI characteristics and relationship between MRI positive rate and surgical results of 266 patients with pathologically confirmed Cushing's disease were analyzed retrospectively.All patients underwent thin-section sagittal and coronal scans of the pituitary gland before and after administration of gadolinium-diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid(Gd-DTPA)on a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner,and dynamic enhanced MRI was performed in 39 patients.All patients underwent transsphenoidal adenomectomy.Endocrinological examinations and assessments were performed.Results Preoperative MRI revealed normal results in 41(15.4%)cases,microadenoma in 179(67.3%),macroadenoma in 42(15.8%),and huge adenoma in 4(1.5%).Pituitary apoplexy was found in 13(4.9%)cases.Positive rate of ACTH-secreting adenomas was 84.6%(225/266)on MRI scans,and that of small microadenomas was 87.2%(34/39)on dynamic enhanced MRI scans.Preoperative endocrinological tests of 199 cases supported the diagnosis of typical Cushing's disease,while the other 67 cases had atypical endocrinological results.The endocrinological cure rate,remission rate,and inefficacy rate were 85.7%,7.9%,and 6.4%,respectively.There was no difference in the initial endocrinological cure rate between the patients with positive and normal MRI results(90% vs.87.8%,P=0.904).Conclusions Enhanced coronal pituitary MRI is helpful for preoperative localization of ACTH-secreting pituitary microadenoma.Dynamic enhanced MRI may improve detection rate of microadenoma.There is no marked difference in the surgical results for patients with preoperative MRI results indicating presence or absence of microadenoma. | Bing Xing Kan Deng Zu-yuan Ren Chang-bao Su Ren-zhi Wang Yi Yang Wen-bin Ma Yong-ning Li | 2008 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2008，23，1： | 9 |
| 9 | Study on the Expression Levels of CXCR4, CXCL12, CD44, and CD147 and Their Potential Correlation with Invasive Behaviors of Pituitary Adenomas显示文摘Objective To evaluate the factors of CXCR4, CXCL12, CD44, and CD147 as early potential diagnostic biomarkers by determining their expression levels in invasive and non-invasive pituitary adenomas. Methods Fresh pituitary adenoma specimens were collected from 35 pituitary adenoma (21 invasive and 14 non-invasive) patients who underwent surgical treatment in our Neurosurgery Department between January and April of 2009. The expression levels of CXCR4, CXCL12, CD44, and CD147 were evaluated firstly by flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy in single cell suspensions, and then by immunohistochemical staining of paraffin tissue sections. Results Flow cytometric analyses showed that the percentage of CXCR4-and CXCL12-positive cells from invasive pituitary adenomas (IPA) was significantly higher in the single cell suspensions than that from non-invasive pituitary adenomas (nIPA) (P<0.05). Immunohistochemical staining revealed that CXCR4 and CXCL12 staining index scores of the invasive pituitary adenomas were significantly higher than those of the non-invasive pituitary adenomas (P<0.05). In contrast, neither flow cytometry nor immunohistochemical staining demonstrated significant difference between CD44 and CD147 expression levels, respectively. Conclusion Expression levels of CXCR4 and CXCL12 are correlated with the invasiveness of pituitary adenomas. | 11 | Reduction Kinetics of Vanadium Titano-Magnetite Carbon Composite Pellets Adding Catalysts Under High Temperature显示文摘Experiments were carried out by adding CaF2 and NaF as catalysts in an Ar atmosphere to study the isothermal reduction kinetics of vanadium titano-magnetite carbon composite pellets under high temperature in the range from 1 473 to 1 673 K. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to characterize the microstructure of product. By analyzing reduction mechanism, it was found that the rate controlling step was gas diffusion, and the activation energy was 178.39 kJ/mol without adding any catalysts. Adding CaF2 or NaF of 3% to vanadium titano-magnetite carbon composite pellets can decrease the apparent activation energy of reduction, and the decrease extent was 14.95 and 15.79 kJ/mol, respectively. | 14 | Utilization of Ogura CMS germplasm with the clubroot resistance gene by fertility restoration and cytoplasm replacement in Brassica oleracea L显示文摘Clubroot disease,a major plant root disease caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae,has become one of the most destructive diseases among cultivated cruciferous vegetables.However,clubroot-resistant Brassica oleracea materials are rare.A few clubroot-resistant cabbage varieties are available on the market,but all are Ogura cytoplasmic male sterile(CMS)types.Therefore,in this study,to reutilize the clubroot-resistant Ogura CMS germplasm of cabbage,a new fertility-restored Ogura CMS material,16Q2-11,was used as a bridge to transfer the clubroot resistance(CR)gene from the Ogura CMS cytoplasm to the normal cytoplasm by a two-step method(a fertility restoration and cytoplasm replacement method).In the first cross for fertility restoration of Ogura CMS clubroot-resistant cabbage(FRCRC),16Q2-11 was used as a restorer to cross with Ogura CMS materials containing the CR gene CRb2.Eleven Rfo-positive progenies were generated,of which four contained CRb2:F8-514,F8-620,F8-732 and F8-839.After inoculation with race 4 of P.brassicae,these four CRb2-positive individuals showed resistance.Furthermore,F8-514 and F8-839 were then used as male parents in the second cross of FRCRC to cross with cabbage inbred lines,resulting in the successful introgression of the CRb2 gene into the inbred lines.All offspring produced from this step of cross,which had a normal cytoplasm,showed a high resistance to race 4 of P.brassicae and could be utilized for the breeding of clubrootresistant cabbage varieties in the future.This is the first time that the Ogura CMS restorer has been used to restore the fertility of Ogura CMS clubroot-resistant cabbages,which could improve germplasm diversity in cabbage and provide a reference method for using CMS germplasm in Brassica crops. | Wenjing Ren Zhiyuan Li Fengqing Han Bin Zhang Xing Li Zhiyuan Fang Limei Yang Mu Zhuang Honghao Lv Yumei Liu Yong Wang Hailong Yu Yangyong Zhang | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020，7，1： | 7 |

| 16 | Efficacy and safety of Xinglouchengqi decoction for acute ischemic stroke with constipation:study protocol for a randomized con-trolled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy and safety of Xinglouchengqi(XLCQ) decoction in treatment of acute ischemic stroke with constipation.METHODS: In this prospective, multicenter, assessor-blinded, randomized controlled trial, 360 eligible participants will be randomized to the XLCQ group or the control group. Participants in the XLCQ group will receive XLCQ decoction, while those in the control group will undergo clysis therapy using glycerin enemas or oral administration of lactulose solution. Both groups will undergo a treatment period of(5 ± 2) d and a 1-month follow-up.The primary outcome measure will be the Constipation Scale score. The secondary outcome measures will include scores on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) Stroke Scale, the Diagnostic Scale for TCM Syndromes of Ischemic Stroke and TCM Scale for Syndrome of Phlegm-heat and Fu-organ Excess.Therapeutic mechanism outcomes and safety outcomes will also be assessed. | 17 | Newborn screening with targeted sequencing:a multicenter investigation and a pilot clinical study in China显示文摘Different newborn screening(NBS) programs have been practiced in many countries since the 1960 s. It is of considerable interest whether next-generation sequencing is applicable in NBS. We have developed a panel of 465 causative genes for 596 early-onset, relatively high incidence, and potentially actionable severe inherited diseases in our Newborn Screening with Targeted Sequencing(NESTS) program to screen 11,484 babies in 8 Women and Children’s hospitals nationwide in China retrospectively. The positive rate from preliminary screening of NESTS was 7.85%(902/11,484). With 45.89%(414/902) follow-up of preliminary positive cases, the overall clinically confirmative diagnosis rate of monogenic disorders was 12.07%(50/414), estimating an average of 0.95%(7.85% × 12.07%) clinical diagnosis rate, suggesting that monogenic disorders account for a considerable proportion of birth defects. The disease/gene spectrum varied in different regions of China. NESTS was implemented in a hospital by screening 3923 newborns to evaluate its clinical application. The turn-around time of a primary report, including the sequencing period of < 7 days, was within 11 days by our automatic interpretation pipeline.
