| 1 | Potential toxic risk of heavy metals from sediment of the Pearl River in South China显示文摘Based on the monitoring of five heavy metal elements in the surface sediments of the Pearl River in South China, potential toxicity of the heavy metals was assessed using consensus-based sediment quality guidelines (SQGs) method and geo-accumulation (Igeo) index method. The monitoring results showed the heavy metal concentrations were significantly and positively correlated with each other, demonstrating a common trend in variation of concentration in the surface sediments. The assessment using the consensus-based SQGs method showed the potential toxicity of Cu was the highest, and Cd was the lowest. The evaluation based on mean probable effect concentration (PEC) quotient showed the region was seriously polluted with high toxicity heavy metals. Correlation analysis revealed a significant and positive correlation between the mean PEC quotient and the average of Igeo with a correlation coefficient of 0.926 (n = 23, P < 0.01). In conclusion, the consensus-based SQGs and mean PEC quotient are applicable to assess potential toxicity risks of heavy metals in freshwater sediments in the Pearl River. | NIU Hongyi DENG Wenjing WU Qunhe CHEN Xingeng | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,8: | 52 |

| 3 | Differential Expression of Motility-Related Protein-1 Gene in Gastric Cancer and Its Premalignant Lesions显示文摘OBJECTIVE To identify genes related to gastric cancer and to analyze their expression profiles in different gastric tissues. METHODS The differentially expressed cDNA bands were assayed by fluorescent differential display from gastric cancer specimens, matched with normal gastric mucosa and premalignant lesions. The motility-related protein-1 (MRP-1/CD9) gene expression was studied by Northern blots and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in different kinds of gastric tissue. RESULTS A differentially expressed cDNA fragment showed lower expression in all gastric cancers compared to the normal gastric mucosa and premalignant lesions; and it was found to be homologous to the MRP-1/CD9 gene. Northern blot analysis confirmed the differential expression. RT-PCR analysis showed that the MRP-1/CD9 gene was expressed at a much lower rate in gastric cancers (0.31 +0.18) compared to the matched normal gastric tissue (0.49+0.24) and premalignant lesions (0.47+0.18)(P<0.05). Furthermore, its expression in intestinal-type of gastric cancer (0.38+0.16) was higher than that expressed in a diffuse-type of gastric cancer (0.22±0.17)(P<0.05). CCONCLUSION The MRP-1/CD9 gene expression was down-regulated in gastric cancer and its expression may be related to the carcinogenic process and histological type of gastric cancer. | YaoXu JieZheng WentianLiu JunXing YanyunLi XinGeng WeimingZhang | 2004 | Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology2004,1,2: | 1 |

| 8 | Fringe View: Problems and Construction of Human Settlement Environment for 'Village-in-City'显示文摘The construction of human settlement environment is one of the important contents in the domain of sustainable development. We try to annotate human settlement environment for 'village- in-city' from the angle of fringe view. According to the macro-system thought of human settlement environment science, the evolvement, which can be generalized into four phases, connotation and problems (including social, economic, and environmental problems) of 'village-in-city' are discussed primarily in this paper. Some domestic and international researches and practices are also summarized and assessed in the paper. Based on the analysis, some appropriate clues and suggestions for the construction of 'village-in-city' have been put forward. | Mo Chuangrong , Li Xia , Wang Shugong 1 1,2 & Chen Xingeng 1 1. | 9 | Planning Environmental Impact Assessment Orienting Sustainable Development: Opportunities and Challenges显示文摘Strategic Environmental Assessment is a frontier subject in the field of Environmental Impact Assessment. In the past two decades, especially in recent years, much more importance has been attached to Strategic Environmental Assessment. The Environmental Impact Assessment Law of the P.R. China which was promulgated provides a great opportunity for the development of Planning Environmental Impact Assessment and brings great challenges for the development of traditional Project Environmental Impact Assessment and Planning Environmental Impact Assessment at the same time. In order to promote the implementation of 'The EIA Law', the inherent limitations of Project Environmental Impact Assessment must be identified sufficiently and the theory research and practice of Planning Environmental Impact Assessment should be strengthened as well. Measures should be taken currently to enforce the operation system. The authors wish to offer a few references to the progress and implementation of Planning Environmental Impact Assessment in China. | Sun Yanjun 1, Chen Xingeng 1, Bao Yun 2, Peng Xiaochun 3 & Gao Changbo 1 1.School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510275, China 2. | 10 | Research on Public Participation and Information Publicity in Strategic Environmental Assessment显示文摘It has been generally recognized that strategic environmental assessment integrates environment and development into decision-making and becomes an important decision-making tool for implementing sustainable development. This paper firstly introduces the relationships of SEA, public participation(PP)and information publicity(IP),then discusses the key parts in enforcing the effective process of PP: They are the methods for how to make sufficient information open (What), when to implement PP (When), who will determinate the public (Who), and how to make the models of PP (How). Six cases are compared and analyzed. At last, ways to improve the effectiveness of PP in China is also presented. | Gao Changbo 1,2, Mo Chuangrong 1, Chen Xingeng 1, Zhang Shixi 1 & Sun Yanjun 1 1.School of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510275, China 2.Guangdong Industry Technical College, Guangzhou 510300, China | 2005 | Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2005,3,4: | 0 |
| 11 | Mechanical and thermal properties of NpO_2 using LSDA+U approach显示文摘The elastic constants, bulk modulus, shear modulus,Young's modulus,Debye temperature, isobaric heat capacity and minimum thermal conductivity are estimated for NpO2 using plane-wave pseudopotential method within the local spin density approximation plus Hubbard U(LSDAtU) theory. The computed lattice constants are in good agreement with the available experimental results and then three independent elastic constants were computed by means of the stress–strain method. From the knowledge of the elastic constants, the values of Young's modulus,Poisson,Debye temperature and minimum thermal conductivity are obtained and they are 218 GPa,0.288,453.5 K and0.99 Wm-1K-1,respectively.The obtained mechanical and thermal properties of NpO2 are in agreement with the previous experimental and theoretical data. Our investigations which are unobtainable from previous report can provide valuable reference in the future. | Lei Jin Peizhong Li Xingeng Lei Haibin Zhou Chun Wang | 2014 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2014,24,4: | 0 |
