Denitrification characteristics of a marine origin psychrophilic aerobic denitrifying bacterium显示文摘A psychrophilic aerobic denitrifying bacterium, strain S1-1,was isolated from a biological aerated filter conducted for treatment of recirculating water in a marine aquaculture system.Strain S1-1 was preliminarily identified as Psychrobacter sp.based on the analysis of its 16S rRNA gene sequence, which showed 100% sequence similarity to that of Psychrobacter sp.TSBY-70.Strain S1-1 grew well either in high nitrate or high nitrite conditions with a removal of 100% nitrate or 63.50% nitrite, and the total nitrogen removal rates could reach to 46.48% and 31.89%,respectively.The results indicated that nitrate was mainly reduced in its logarithmic growth phase with a very low leve1 accumulation of nitrite, suggesting that the aerobic denitrification process of strain S1-1 occurred mainly in this phase. The GC-MS results showed that N 2 O was formed as the major intermediate during the aerobic denitrifying process of strain S1-1.Finally,factors affecting the growth of strain S1-1 and its aerobic denitrifying ability were also investigated. Results showed that the optimum aerobic denitrification conditions for strain S1-1 were sodium succinate as carbon source,C/N ratio15,salinity 10 g/L NaCl,incubation temperature 20°C and initial pH 6.5.Haiyan Zheng Ying Liu Guangdong Sun Xiyan Gao Qingling Zhang Zhipei Liu 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,11:32
Curative effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on insomnia: a randomized clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on insomnia and explore its mechanism. METHODS: One hundred and twenty patients were randomly divided into an experiment group and a control group. Sixty patients in the experiment group were treated once a day with acupuncture at Baihui (GV 20), Sishencong (EX-HN 1), Shenmai (BL 62), and Zhaohai (KI 6) and with moxibustion at Baihui (GV 20) and Sishencong (EX-HN 1). Sixty patients in the control group were acupunctured once a day at Shenmen (HT 7), Neiguan (PC 6), and Sanyinjiao (SP 6).The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to compare sleep improvement between the two groups. RESULTS: The total effective rate was 87.7% in the experiment group and 76.3% in the control group. The PSQI scores and the total score were lower after treatment than before treatment in bothgroups. However, the reduction in the experiment group was greater than that in the control group in sleeping quality, time to fall asleep, sleeping disorder, and daytime function (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture and moxibustion at Baihui (GV 20), Sishencong (EX-HN 1), Shenmai (BL 62), and Zhaohai (KI 6) significantly improved insomnia symptoms in the experiment group compared with the control group.Xiyan Gao Cuixiang Xu Peiyu Wang Shan Ren Yanli Zhou Xuguang Yang Ling Gao 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,4:14
Correlation of continuous electroencephalogram with clinical assessment scores in acute stroke patients显示文摘Objective To compare electroencephalogram (EEG) symmetry values between stroke patients with different 28-day outcomes, and to assess correlations between clinical characteristics and 28-day outcomes. Methods Twenty-two patients presenting with acute ischemic stroke and persistent neurological deficits at EEG recording were incrementally included. At 28 days after admission, the modified Rankin scale (mRS) was used to evaluate the outcomes, based on which the patients were divided into two a posteriori groups, mRS = 6 and mRS <6. Student's t-test was used to compare these two groups in terms of brain symmetry index (BSI), National Institutes of Health stroke scale (NIHSS), Glasgow coma scale (GCS) and acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) assessed at admission. Then EEG parameters, NIHSS, GCS and APACHE II were correlated with the mRS. Results There were significant differences in BSI, NIHSS, GCS, and APACHE II between the two groups. Survivors had lower BSI, NIHSS and APACHE II, and higher GCS values, compared with patients who died within 28 days after admission. Besides, BSI at admission had a positive correlation with mRS at 28 days (r = 0.441, P = 0.040). NIHSS and APACHE II were also correlated with mRS (r = 0.736, P <0.000 1; r = 0.667, P = 0.001, respectively). GCS at admission had a negative correlation with mRS (r = 0.656, P = 0.001). Conclusion A higher BSI predicts a poorer short-term prognosis for stroke patients. Acute EEG monitoring may be of prognostic value for 28-day outcomes. The early prediction of functional outcomes after stroke may enhance clinical management and minimize short-term mortality.Xiyan Xin Ying Gao Hua Zhang Kegang Cao Yongmei Shi 2012Neuroscience Bulletin2012,28,5:6

The S190R mutation in the hemagglutinin protein of pandemic H1N1 2009 influenza virus increased its pathogenicity in mice显示文摘Human influenza viruses preferentially bind to sialic acid-α2,6-galactose (SAα2,6Gal) receptors, which are predominant in human upper respiratory epithelia, whereas avian influenza viruses preferentially bind to SAα2,3Gal receptors. However, variants with amino acid substitutions around the receptor-binding sites of the hemagglutinin (HA) protein can be selected after several passages of human influenza viruses from patients’ respiratory samples in the allantoic cavities of embryonated chicken eggs. In this study, we detected an egg-adapted HA S190R mutation in the pandemic H1N1 virus 2009 (pdmH1N1), and evaluated the effects of this mutation on receptor binding affinity and pathogenicity in mice. Our results revealed that residue 190 is located within the pocket structure of the receptor binding site. The single mutation to arginine at position 190 slightly increased the binding affinity of the virus to the avian receptor and decreased its binding to the long human α2,6-linked sialic acid receptor. Our study demonstrated that the S190R mutation resulted in earlier death and higher weight loss in mice compared with the wild-type virus. Higher viral titers at 1 dpi (days post infection) and diffuse damage at 4 dpi were observed in the lung tissues of mice infected with the mutant virus.Yongkun Chen Tian Bai Wenfei Zhu Rongbao Gao Zhihong Deng Yi Shi Shumei Zou Yiwei Huang Xiyan Li Fangcai Li Zhaomin Feng Tao Chen Jing Yang Dayan Wang Lidong Gao Yuelong Shu 2018Science China(Life Sciences)2018,61,7:1

Cracking Behaviour of Al_2O_3 Short Fibre/Al-5.5Zn Composite in TEM显示文摘The micromechanical behaviour of Al2O3 short fibre reinforced Al-5.5Zn matrix composite has been in-situ studied by using TEM. The results show that in the composite the nucleation and propagation of cracks take place mainly in the matrix, as well as in the region near the fibre/matrix interface. It has been also observed that the microcracks can close during unloading. So the fracture property can be characterized by crack open displacement (COD). The cracking characteristic may result from the large strength difference between the matrix and fibre.Xiyan ZHANG Tianxin TAN Wenyi PENG and Qing GAO (Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu 610031, China) 1997Journal of Materials Science & Technology1997,13,3:0

Relative specificity of acupuncture reinforcing and reducing methods显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To probe the effects of acupuncture reinforcing and reducing methods on the human body.METHODS:Studied acupuncture reinforcing and reducing actions in the ancient literature, based on modern clinical and experimental studies,in combination with experience of acupuncture teaching and clinical treatment.RESULTS:The key to the generation of reinforcing and reducing actions is not the acupuncture reinforcing and reducing methods themselves, but instead the functional state of the patient during the acupuncture. When reinforcing and reducing methods act on the human body,a reinforcing-reducing effect is produced through regulation of Qi,indicating that the production of the reinforcing-reducing effect requires a certain condition.Specifically, acupuncture does not produce the reinforcing-reducing effect under all conditions, but can produce a reinforcing effect in patients with deficiency syndrome and a reducing effect in patients with excess syndrome.CONCLUSION:Reinforcing and reducing methods each have therapeutic effects on both deficiency syndrome and excess syndrome, but a reinforcing method should be selected first for deficiency syndrome and a reducing method should be selected first for excess syndrome.Xiyan Gao Danyi Wang Ling Gao Ronghui Gao 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3:0
Ultrasensitive, flexible perovskite nanowire photodetectors with long-term stability exceeding 5000 h显示文摘Photodetectors(PDs)based on perovskite nanowires are among the most promising next-generation photodetection technologies;however, their poor long-term stability is the biggest challenge limiting their commercial applica-tion.Herein,an ionic liquid,1-butyl-3 methylimidazolium tetrafuoroborate(BMIMBF_(4)),is incorporated as an additive into methylammonium lead tri-iodide(MAPbI_(3))nanowires;this not only effectively passivates defects to inhibit perovskite degradation but also leads to the formation of nanochannels, enabling fast charge transfer. As a result, the long-term stability and perfor-mance of MAPbI_(3)nanowires are considerably improved. The detectivity, linear detection range, and noise equivalent power of the MA PbI_(3)nanowire PD reach 2.06×10^(13)Jones,160dB,and 1.38×10^(-15)W Hz-^(1/2),respectively,compara-ble to the highest performance of perovskite nanowire PDs reported to date. Moreover, the unencapsulated PD can maintain 100%of its initial performance after being exposed to an open-air environment for more than 5000 h,esta-blishing it as the most stable perovskite nanowire PD reported to date.Nota-bly,the PD exhibits improved diffuse reflection imaging ability when compared with commercial silicon photodiode S2386.This study provides a new strategy for constructing sensitive, stable, and flexible perovskite PDs and will accelerate their commercial application in the future.Dingjun Wu Yongchang Xu Hai Zhou Xin Feng Jianqiang Zhang Xiyan Pan Zheng Gao Rui Wang Guokun Ma Li Tao Hanbin Wang Jinxia Duan Houzhao Wan Jun Zhang Liangping Shen Hao Wang Tianyou Zhai 2022InfoMat2022,4,9:0
Characteristic metabolic and microbial profiles in acute ischemic stroke patients with phlegm-heat pattern显示文摘Objective:To explore the characteristics of plasma metabolites, feces gut microbiota and the crosstalk between gut microbiota and host metabolism in patients with acute ischemic stroke and phlegm-heat pattern(AIS-PHP).Methods:The metabolic and microbiome profiles of 20 AIS-PHP patients and 20 healthy controls(HCs)were analyzed using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS)-based metabolomics and 16s rDNA sequencing, respectively. The covariation between LC-MS/MS-based metabolite data and 16s rDNA sequence data was presented. Results:Distinct alterations in the plasma metabolic phenotype of AIS-PHP patients were found,in which 16 metabolites differed significantly between the AIS-PHP patients and the HCs.These metabolites represented 17 different metabolic pathways, including amino acid metabolism, lipid metabolism, and nucleotide metabolism.Additionally, significant alterations of gut microbiota composition and taxon were revealed at the phylum level between the AIS-PHP patients and the HCs.In AIS-PHP,Bacteroidetes,Firmicutes,and Proteobacteria dominated. Moreover, some microbes that differed between the 2 groups manifested a sole association with certain metabolites, such as the connection between Bacteroides and inosine and between Lachnospiraceae_unclassified and hypoxanthine. Conclusion:The present study preliminarily investigated the metabolomic and gut microbiome characteristics of AIS-PHP patient indicators. The link between metabolic and microbial dysbiosis in AIS-PHP sheds new light on the function of gut microbiota and associated metabolomics in the pathogenesis of the disease.Xing Huang Yun Cao Leyi Zhang Shuren Li Xin Shu Xiyan Xin Kazuo Sugimoto Jia Liu Ying Gao Jingling Chang 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2023,10,3:0
