| 1 | Processes of initial collision and suturing between India and Asia显示文摘The initial collision between Indian and Asian continents marked the starting point for transformation of land-sea thermal contrast,uplift of the Tibet-Himalaya orogen,and climate change in Asia.In this paper,we review the published literatures from the past 30 years in order to draw consensus on the processes of initial collision and suturing that took place between the Indian and Asian plates.Following a comparison of the different methods that have been used to constrain the initial timing of collision,we propose that the tectono-sedimentary response in the peripheral foreland basin provides the most sensitive index of this event,and that paleomagnetism presents independent evidence as an alternative,reliable,and quantitative research method.In contrast to previous studies that have suggested collision between India and Asia started in Pakistan between ca.55 Ma and50 Ma and progressively closed eastwards,more recent researches have indicated that this major event first occurred in the center of the Yarlung Tsangpo suture zone(YTSZ) between ca.65 Ma and 63 Ma and then spreading both eastwards and westwards.While continental collision is a complicated process,including the processes of deformation,sedimentation,metamorphism,and magmatism,different researchers have tended to define the nature of this event based on their own understanding,an intuitive bias that has meant that its initial timing has remained controversial for decades.Here,we recommend the use of reconstructions of each geological event within the orogenic evolution sequence as this will allow interpretation of collision timing on the basis of multidisciplinary methods. | DING Lin Satybaev MAKSATBEK CAI FuLong WANG HouQi SONG PeiPing JI WeiQiang XU Qiang ZHANG LiYun Qasim MUHAMMAD Baral UPENDRA | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4: | 23 |
| 2 | The effects of probiotics administration on the milk production,milk components and fecal bacteria microbiota of dairy cows显示文摘Probiotics administration can improve host health.This study aims to determine the effects of probiotics(Lactobacillus casei Zhang and Lactobacillus plantarum P-8) administration on milk production,milk functional components,milk composition,and fecal microbiota of dairy cows.Variations in the fecal bacteria microbiota between treatments were assessed based on 16 S rRNA profiles determined by Pac Bio single molecule real-time sequencing technology.The probiotics supplementation significantly increased the milk production and the contents of milk immunoglobulin G(IgG),lactoferrin(LTF),lysozyme(LYS)and lactoperoxidase(LP),while the somatic cell counts(SCC) significantly decreased(P < 0.01).However,no significant difference was found in the milk fat,protein and lactose contents(P > 0.05).Although the probiotics supplementation did not change the fecal bacteria richness and diversity,significantly more rumen fermentative bacteria(Bacteroides,Roseburia,Ruminococcus,Clostridium,Coprococcus and Dorea) and beneficial bacteria(Faecalibacterium prausnitzii) were found in the probiotics treatment group.Meanwhile,some opportunistic pathogens e.g.Bacillus cereus,Cronobacter sakazakii and Alkaliphilus oremlandii,were suppressed.Additionally,we found some correlations between the milk production,milk components and fecal bacteria.To sum up,our study demonstrated the beneficial effects of probiotics application in improving the quality and quantity of cow milk production. | Haiyan Xu Weiqiang Huang Qiangchuan Hou Lai-yu Kwok Zhihong Sun Huimin Ma Feiyan Zhao Yuan-Kun Lee Heping Zhang | 2017 | Science Bulletin2017,62,11: | 21 |

| 4 | Nonintubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for primary spontaneous pneumothorax显示文摘Objective:The objective of the current study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of nonintubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS) for the management of primary spontaneous pneumothorax(PSP).Methods:From November 2011 to June 2013,32 consecutive patients with PSP were treated by nonintubated uniportal thoracoscopic bullectomy using epidural anaesthesia and sedation without endotracheal intubation.An incision 2 cm in length was made at the 6^(th) intercostal space in the median axillary line.The pleural space was entered by blunt dissection for placement of a soft incision protector.Instruments were then inserted through the incision protector to perform thoracoscopic bullectomy.Data were collected within a minimum follow-up period of 10 months.Results:The average time of surgery was 49.0 min(range,33-65 min).No complications were recorded.The postoperative feeding time was 6 h.The mean postoperative chest tube drainage and hospital stay were19.3 h and 41.6 h,respectively.The postoperative pain was mild for 30 patients(93.75%) and moderate for two patients(6.25%).No recurrences of pneumothorax were observed at follow-up.Conclusions:The initial results indicated that nonintubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic operations are not only technically feasible,but may also be a safe and less invasive alternative for select patients in the management of PSP.This is the first report to include the use of a nonintubated uniportal technique in VATS for such a large number of PSP cases.Further work and development of instruments are needed to define the applications and advantages of this technique. | Shuben Li Fei Cui Jun Liu Xin Xu Wenlong Shao Weiqiang Yin Hanzhang Chen Jianxing He | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,2: | 15 |

| 6 | Aboveground biomass and corresponding carbon sequestration ability of four major forest types in south China显示文摘We estimated aboveground biomass carbon (TABC) and net carbon accumulation rates (TNEP) for trees in four major forest types based on national forest inventory data collected in 1994-1998 and 1999-2003. The four types were Pinus massoniana forest, Cunninghamia lanceolata forest, hard broad-leaved evergreen forest and soft broad-leaved evergreen forest. We analyzed variations in TABC and TNEP for five stand ages (initiation, young, medium, mature and old). In both time periods, estimated TABC in all four forest types increased consistently with forest stand age and the oldest stage had the largest TABC compared with other stages. Broad-leaved forests (hard and soft) had higher TABC than needle-leaved forests (Pinus massoniana and Cunninghamia lanceolata) for each of the five age stages. The difference of TABC between broad-leaved and needle-leaved forests increased with forest stand age. Comparison of estimated TNEP by age category indicated TNEP increased from the initiation stage to the young stage, and then decreased from the mature stage to old stage in all four forest types. TNEP for any particular stage depended on the forest type; for instance, broad-leaved forests at both the mature and old stages had greater TNEP than in needle-leaved forests. A logistic curve was applied to fit the relationship between TABC and forest stand age. In each period, correlations in all four forest types were all statistically significant (P < 0.01) with R2 > 0.95. TABC was therefore predicted by these regression functions from 2000 to 2050 and the mean TNEP during the predicted period was estimated to be about 41.14, 31.53, 75.50 and 75.68 gCm-2a-1 in Pinus massoniana forest, Cunninghamia lanceolata forest, hard broad-leaved forest and soft broad-leaved forest, respectively. Results from both forest inventory and regression prediction suggest broad-leaved forests are greater carbon sinks, and hence have greater carbon sequestration ability especially in the mature and old stages when compared to needle-leaved forests. | 7 | Research of Step-down Stress Accelerated Degradation Data Assessment Method of a Certain Type of Missile Tank显示文摘The performance degradation rates of the missile tank are generally time-varying functions uneasily evaluated by general classical evaluation methods. This paper develops a segmented nonlinear accelerated degradation model (SNADM) based on the equivalent method of accumulative damage theory, which tackles the problem that product life is difficult to be determined with degradation rate being a function of the variable of time. A segmented expression of the function of population accumulative degradation is derived. And combined with nonlinear function, an accelerated degradation function, i.e., SNADM is obtained. The parameters of the SNADM are identified by numerical iteration, and the statistical function of degradation track is extrapolated. The reliability function is determined through the type of random process of the degradation distribution. Then an evaluation of product storage life is undertaken by combining the statistical function of degradation track, reliability function and threshold. An example of a missile tank undergoes a step-down stress accelerated degradation test (SDSADT), in which the results with the SNADM and the classical method are evaluated and compared. | 8 | PGE2 activates EP4 in subchondral bone osteoclasts to regulate osteoarthritis显示文摘Prostaglandin E2(PGE2), a major cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) product, is highly secreted by the osteoblast lineage in the subchondral bone tissue of osteoarthritis(OA) patients. However, NSAIDs, including COX-2 inhibitors, have severe side effects during OA treatment. Therefore, the identification of novel drug targets of PGE2 signaling in OA progression is urgently needed. Osteoclasts play a critical role in subchondral bone homeostasis and OA-related pain. However, the mechanisms by which PGE2 regulates osteoclast function and subsequently subchondral bone homeostasis are largely unknown. Here, we show that PGE2 acts via EP4 receptors on osteoclasts during the progression of OA and OA-related pain. Our data show that while PGE2 mediates migration and osteoclastogenesis via its EP2 and EP4 receptors, tissue-specific knockout of only the EP4 receptor in osteoclasts(EP4 Lys M) reduced disease progression and osteophyte formation in a murine model of OA. Furthermore, OA-related pain was alleviated in the EP4 Lys M mice, with reduced Netrin-1 secretion and CGRP-positive sensory innervation of the subchondral bone. The expression of plateletderived growth factor-BB(PDGF-BB) was also lower in the EP4 Lys Mmice, which resulted in reduced type H blood vessel formation in subchondral bone. Importantly, we identified a novel potent EP4 antagonist, HL-43, which showed in vitro and in vivo effects consistent with those observed in the EP4 Lys Mmice. Finally, we showed that the Gαs/PI3 K/AKT/MAPK signaling pathway is downstream of EP4 activation via PGE2 in osteoclasts. | 9 | Long-term survival outcomes of video-assisted thoracic surgery for patients with non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Background: Video-assisted thoracic surgery(VATS) has been shown to be a safe alternative to conventional thoracotomy for patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). However, popularization of this relatively novel technique has been slow, partly due to concerns about its long-term outcomes. The present study aimed to evaluate the long-term survival outcomes of patients with NSCLC after VATS, and to determine the significant prognostic factors on overall survival.Methods: Consecutive patients diagnosed with NSCLC referred to one institution for VATS were identified from a central database. Patients were treated by either complete-VATS or assisted-VATS, as described in previous studies. A number of baseline patient characteristics, clinicopathologic data and treatment-related factors were analyzed as potential prognostic factors on overall survival.Results: Between January 2000 and December 2007, 1,139 patients with NSCLC who underwent VATS and fulfilled a set of predetermined inclusion criteria were included for analysis. The median age of the entire group was 60 years, with 791 male patients(69%). The median 5-year overall survival for Stage I, II, III and IV disease according to the recently updated TNM classification system were 72.2%, 47.5%, 29.8% and 28.6%, respectively. | 13 | Effect of heterogeneous microstructure on magnetization reversal mechanism of hot-deformed Nd-Fe-B magnets显示文摘The hot-deformed(HD) Nd-Fe-B magnets show heterogeneous microstructure composed of coarse and fine grain regions. It is significant to fully understand the influence of this complex microstructure on the magnetization reversal process which can give the guidance for the enhancement of the magnetic properties. In this paper, the heterogeneous microstructure of the(HD) Nd-Fe-B magnets were characterized from the morphology, size, macro-texture and micro-structure. In addition, the magnetization reversal process of the HD Nd-Fe-B magnets was systematically analyzed by magnetic measurement, insitu domain evolution observation and micromagnetic simulation. The results indicate that the HD NdFe-B magnets mainly consist of fine grain regions(FGRs) and coarse grain regions(CGRs). The FGRs show plate-like grains with fine grain size and strong c-axis texture, while the CGRs show equiaxial grains with large grain size and weak c-axis texture. In particular, it is worth noting that the texture in homogeneity exists not only between FGRs and CGRs, but also inside both the FGRs and CGRs. The dominant coercivity mechanism of the HD Nd-Fe-B magnets is domain wall pinning. Also, the experimental analysis shows that the reverse domain is formed and expanded in the CGRs at low reverse applied field, while the reverse domain occurs in the FGRs at higher reverse applied field. The micromagnetic simulation results also confirm the above magnetization reversal process. | 14 | Transparent,stretchable,temperature-stable and self-healing ionogel-based triboelectric nanogenerator for biomechanical energy collection显示文摘A flexible and stable power supply is essential to the rapid development of wearable electronic devices.In this work,a transparent,flexible,temperature-stable and ionogel electrode-based self-healing triboelectric nanogenerator(IS-TENG)was developed.The ionogel with excellent stretchability(1,012%),high ionic conductivity(0.3 S·m^(−1))and high-temperature stability(temperature range of−77 to 250℃)was used as the electrode of the IS-TENG.The IS-TENG exhibited excellent transparency(92.1%)and stability.The output performance did not decrease when placed in a 60℃oven for 48 h.In addition,the IS-TENG behaved like a stable output in the range of−20 to 60℃.More importantly,the IS-TENG could also achieve self-healing of electrical performance at temperatures between−20 and 60℃and its output can be restored to its original state after healing.When the single-electrode IS-TENG with an area of 3 cm×3 cm was conducted under the working frequency of 1.5 Hz,the output values for open-circuit voltage,short-circuit current,short-circuit transferred charge,and maximum peak power density were 189 V,6.2μA,57 nC,and 2.17 W·m^(−2),respectively.The IS-TENG enables to harvest biomechanical energy,and drive electronic devices.Furthermore,the application of IS-TENGs as self-driven sensors for detecting human behavior was also demonstrated,showing good application prospects in the field of wearable power technology and self-driven sensing. | Weiqiang Liao Xiukun Liu Yuqi Li Xu Xu Jinxing Jiang Shaorong Lu Dequan Bao Zhen Wen Xuhui Sun | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 2 |

| 16 | Fast screening compositions of PM2.5 by ATR-FTIR: Comparison with results from IC and OC/EC analyzers显示文摘Chemical speciation of fine particles or PM_(2.5) collected on filters is still a costly and timeconsuming task. In this study, filter-based PM_(2.5) samples were collected during November–December 2013 at four sites in Guangzhou, and the major components were fast screened(~7 min per filter sample) by Attenuated Total Reflectance(ATR)-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopic(FTIR) in comparison with that measured by Organic carbon/Element carbon(OC/EC) analyzer and Ion Chromatography(IC). The concentrations of nitrate, ammonium, sulfate,primary organic carbon(POC) and secondary organic carbon(SOC) measured by OC/EC and IC analyzers were better correlated with their infrared absorption peak heights at 1320 cm^(-1) for nitrate, 1435, 3045 and 3215 cm^(-1) for ammonium, 615 cm^(-1) for sulfate, 690, 760 and 890 cm^(-1) for POC and 1640 and 1660 cm^(-1) for SOC respectively, during polluted days(PM_(2.5)> 75 μg/m^3) than during clean days(PM_(2.5)≤ 75 μg/m^3). With the evolution of a haze episode during our field campaign, the concentrations of the major PM_(2.5) components displayed consistent variations with their infrared absorption peak heights, suggesting ATR-FTIR could be a fast and useful technique to characterize filter-based PM_(2.5) compositions particularly during pollution events although cautions should be taken when PM_(2.5) levels are low.
