| 1 | A novel high resolution model without open boundary conditions applied to the China Seas: first investigation on tides显示文摘We developed a Global Ocean Circulation and Tide Model (GOCTM) with coarse grids in the open deep ocean degrading ‘smoothly’ into the highly resolved China Seas (CS) of refined grids to study the tides and circulation there.GOCTM is based on the framework of the Finite Volume approach for better mass conservation through improved transports across the discrete individual control volume.It also takes a full advantage of the geometric flexibility of unstructured mesh using a realistic global topography including the Arctic Ocean.The CS are given a special focus by refining the unstructured grids,but they are embedded into global domain naturally.Furthermore,GOCTM not only successfully avoids the treatment of the open boundaries,but also optimizes the trade-off between computational cost and model accuracy.Meanwhile,GOCTM is driven by the astronomical tide-generating potential and the secondary tide-generating potential directly,together with the wind stress and heat flux.GOCTM succeeds in reproducing the global eight principal tidal harmonic constants.Particularly,the simulated tidal results in the CS are improved compared to some other regional models with the discrepancy of 3.9 cm for M 2 tide.This idea of GOCTM can also be referred for other regional ocean study. | YU Huaming CHEN Xueen BAO Xianwen Thomas Pohlmann WU Dexing | 2010 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010,29,6: | 5 |
| 2 | Sea Experiments of the Underway Conductivity-Temperature-Depth Prototype Made in China显示文摘A new instrument for upper ocean survey, namely the UCTD (Underway Conductivity-Temperature-Depth), which combines some of the advantages of other underway instruments, is introduced in this paper. The Introduction section presents a description of the construction and function of the UCTD, and the experiments conducted in the South China Sea on board the R/V Dong Fang Hong 2 in July 2007 and August 2008. The UCTD system, with pressure and temperature sensors in the probe, is con- veniently portable, cost-effective and environment-friendly. It is hopefully suitable for future cruises. An intercomparison based on regressing with the experiment temperature data from both SeaBird plus911 CTD and the UCTD showed that the standard deviation is 0.88℃ and the correlation coefficient is 0.96, achieving the goals set for the current oceanography uses. In the hydrodynamic experiments, the descending velocities and depths were calculated for different ship speeds. A pulling test was designed with a tensiometer to measure the magnitude of the pull. The maximal tension of the line was found to be 66.2 kg, which is far lower than the bearing limit of the Hollow Spectra line. | 3 | Numerical study of current fields near the Changjiang Estuary and impact of Quick-EnKF assimilation显示文摘A 30-d current numerical simulation is running for the Yangshan Port,the Changjiang Estuary,the Hangzhou Bay and their adjacent seas using a finite volume coastal ocean model (FVCOM),with Changjiang River runoff and wind effect being considered.At the open boundary,this model is driven by the water level obtained from prediction including eight main partial tides.After the harmonic analysis,the cotidal chart and the iso-amplitude line as well as the current ellipse distribution map are displayed to illustrate the propagation property of a tidal wave.Horizontal velocity of both the U and V components coincides with the actual measurement,which shows that the model result is credible to describe the hydrodynamic pattern in this sea area.On this basis,real-time current data from high-frequency radar is assimilated with the implementation of quick ensemble Kalman filter,which takes the variation tendency of the state vector to compute the analysis field,instead of integrating the field for N (the number of ensemble) times as it used to in the standard EnKF,aiming at raising the efficiency of computation,reducing the error of prediction and at the same time,improving the forecast effect. | CHEN Xueen ZHAN Peng CHEN Jinrui QIAN Hongbao | 2011 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2011,30,5: | 4 |

| 5 | A numerical study of generation and propagation of type-a and type-b internal solitary waves in the northern South China Sea显示文摘Numerical simulations based on a high-resolution three-dimensional MIT general circulation model(MITgcm)using realistic topography and tidal forcing are conducted to investigate the generation and propagation of the so-called type-a waves(large-amplitude rank-ordered wave packets)and type-b waves(isolated wave packets)in the northern South China Sea.At first,we summarized and analyzed the generation and propagation characteristics of these waves.Then,energy budget at the Luzon Strait is calculated.Energy generation has three local maxima every day,of which the largest one corresponds to the emergence of the type-a wave.Energy flux at the west boundary of the Luzon Strait shows two local maxima each day.The larger one is consistent with the generation of the type-a wave and the smaller one is in correspondence with the generation of the type-b wave.Sensitivity experiments are designed to explore the role of the east and west ridge of the Luzon Strait on the generation and propagation of the type-a and type-b waves.It is found that the east ridge is indispensable on the generation of the type-a wave while the west ridge has little contribution.The west ridge diminishes the type-a waves'amplitude but hardly changes their propagation speed.The type-b waves also come from perturbation signals which originate from the east ridge and are enhanced in amplitude and reduced in propagation speed by the west ridge. | Zhi Zeng Xueen Chen Chunxin Yuan Shengquan Tang Lequan Chi | 2019 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,11: | 2 |

| 9 | Ultrathin metal-organic framework nanosheets (Cu-TCPP)-based isothermal nucleic acid amplification for food allergen detection显示文摘The rapid and accurate detection of peanuts and soybeans allergen is important to the food safety. In this study, Cu-TCPP nanosheet, a kind of ultra-thin metal-organic framework(MOF)was synthesized and applied in loop-mediated isothermal amplification(named Cu-TCPP@LAMP), which can inhibit the non-specific amplification by absorbing and precise temperature releasing of single primer. As thus, Cu-TCPP@LAMP can achieve high sensitivity and specific amplification of the target gene. As a result, peanut and soybean allergens genes contained in food were successfully detected with a favorable detection sensitivity(5 ng/μL for peanuts and 10 ng/μL for soybeans)and reliable repeatability(The coefficient of variation was 3.38% for peanuts and 3.33% for soybeans). Moreover, the established method was utilized for detection of several commercial products, and had a high consistency with the standard method. | 12 | Numerical investigation of the South China Sea deep circulation显示文摘Based on a two-level nested model from the global ocean to the western Pacific and then to the South China Sea(SCS),the high-resolution SCS deep circulation is numerically investigated.The SCS deep circulation shows a basin-scale cyclonic structure with a strong southward western boundary current in summer(July),a northeast-southwest through-flow pattern across the deep basin without a western boundary current in winter(January),and a transitional pattern in spring and autumn.The sensitivity model experiments illustrate that the Luzon Strait deep overflow is the main factor controlling the seasonal variation in the SCS deep circulation.The SCS surface wind can significantly influence the SCS deep circulation in winter.The Luzon Strait deep overflow transport from the Pacific into the SCS ranges from 0.68×10^(6) m^(3)/s to 1.83×10^(6) m^(3)/s,reaching its maximum in summer(July,up to 1.83×10^(6) m^(3)/s),less in autumn and winter,and the minimum in spring(May,0.68×10^(6) m^(3)/s).In summer,the strong Luzon Strait deep overflow dominates the SCS deep circulation when the role of the SCS surface wind is small.In winter,the weaker Luzon Strait deep overflow and SCS surface wind jointly drive the SCS deep circulation into a northeast-southwest through-flow pattern.The potential vorticity(PV)dissipation in the SCS deep basin reaches its maximum(−0.122 m^(2)/s^(2))in May and its minimum(−0.380 m^(2)/s^(2))in July. | Shengquan Tang Xueen Chen Zhi Zeng Xin Liu | 2022 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,5: | 0 |
