| 1 | Pollution characteristics and health risk assessment of benzene homologues in ambient air in the northeastern urban area of Beijing, China显示文摘Ambient benzene homologues were measured at a site in the northeastern urban area of Beijing, China, from August 24 to September 4, 2012 by SUMMA canister sampling followed by laboratory determination using cryogenic cold trap pre-concentration-GC-MS/FID, and their health risks were also assessed. Daily total benzene homologues ranged from 0.99 to 49.71 μg/m3with an average of 11.98 μg/m3. Benzene homologues showed higher concentrations in the morning and evening than that at noontime. Comparison with previous studies revealed a trend of decrease for ambient benzene homologues probably due to the efective emission control in Beijing in recent years. Vehicular exhaust was the main source while volatilization of paints and solvents also made substantial contributions. Health risk assessment showed that BTEX(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, o-xylene, m-xylene and p-xylene) and styrene had no appreciable adverse non-cancer health risks for the exposed population, while benzene has potential cancer risk of 1.34E-05. | 2 | 0.04 degree-per-hour MEMS disk resonator gyroscope with high-quality factor (510 k) and long decaying time constant(74.9 s)显示文摘The disk resonator gyroscope is an attractive candidate for high-performance MEMS gyroscopes.This gyroscope consists of a sensor and readout electronics,and the characteristics of the sensor directly determine the performance.For the sensor,a high-quality factor and long decaying time constant are the most important characteristics required to achieve high performance.We report a disk resonator gyroscope with a measured quality factor of 510 k and decaying time constant of 74.9 s,which is a record for MEMS silicon disk resonator gyroscopes,to the best of our knowledge.To improve the quality factor of the DRG,the quality factor improvement mechanism is first analyzed,and based on this mechanism two stiffness-mass decoupled methods,i.e.,spoke length distribution optimization and lumped mass configuration design,are proposed and demonstrated.A disk resonator gyroscope prototype is fabricated based on these design strategies,and the sensor itself shows an angle random walk as low as 0.001°/√h,demonstrating true potential to achieve navigation-grade performance.The gyroscope with readout electronics shows an angle random walk of 0.01°/√h and a bias instability of 0.04°/h at room temperature without compensation,revealing that the performance of the gyroscope is severely limited by the readout electronics,which should be further improved.We expect that the quality factor improvement methods can be used in the design of other MEMS gyroscopes and that the newly designed DRG can be further improved to achieve navigation-grade performances for high-end industrial,transportation,aerospace,and automotive applications. | Qingsong Li Dingbang Xiao Xin Zhou Yi Xu Ming Zhuo Zhanqiang Hou Kaixuan He Yongmeng Zhang Xuezhong Wu | 2018 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2018,4,1: | 16 |

Based on physical simulation for formation mechanisms of high capacity channels and interwell tracer test data,a mathematical model was established to describe high-capacity channels by grey correlation theory,glow mechanism of fluid in porous media and reservoir engineering,and a program was developed to describe quantitatively the channel characteristics. | 6 | Precision Balance Method for Cupped Wave Gyro Based on Cup-bottom Trimming显示文摘The mechanical balance process is the key process to eliminate the quadrature error and improve the performance of the cupped wave gyro.The conventional mechanical balance method for cupped wave gyro based on cup-wall trimming requires high control accuracy of trimming quantity,which increases the production cost and decreases the fabrication efficiency in large extent.However,it is hard to reach the high balance accuracy with the natural frequency split of mHz grade by using the conventional method.In this paper,the lumped mass dynamic model of the cupped wave gyro is built by discretization method,and the effects of different position trimming on the natural frequency are analyzed.It is pointed out that trimming off a tiny quantity of material from cup-wall causes large variation of the natural frequency is the main reason for the low accuracy of the conventional mechanical balance method.Then,a precision balance method for cupped wave gyro based on cup-bottom trimming is presented and the entire procedures of this method are given.The static balance process and dynamic balance process of the precision balance method are simulated by the finite element software.The simulation result shows that the precision balance method based on cup-bottom trimming brings less additional natural frequency split in the static balance process,minimizes the natural frequency split to mHz grade and rectify the angle of mode offset to 0.1° grade in the dynamic balance process,furthermore,the method decreases the requirement for control accuracy of trimming quantity evidently.The research work provides references for structure optimization design and balance process plan of the cupped wave gyro. | TAO Yi XI Xiang XIAO Dingbang TAN Yingqi CUI Hongjuan WU Xuezhong | 2012 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,1: | 9 |

| 8 | The enrichment characteristics of mercury in the sediments of Dongjiu and Xijiu, Taihu Lake catchment, in the past century显示文摘The concentration and the enrichment factors of mercury (Hg) in the sediment cores of Dongjiu and Xijiu, Taihu Lake catchment, were studied. The accumulation fluxes, anthropogenic input concentration and anthropogenic accumulation fluxes of Hg in recent 100 years were also analyzed based on the 210Pb dating. The results indicate that the increasing concentrations of Hg in the sediments are influ-enced by natural factors and anthropogenic input simultaneously. Generally, about 2/3 of the Hg in the sediment was from anthropogenic sources. In the early 20th century, the anthropogenic input was owing to the urban development and fossil fuel consumptions surrounding the Taihu Lake and the worldwide atmospheric deposition of Hg since the industrial revolution. The concentration and an-thropogenic fluxes of Hg increased with the industrial development in the catchment since the 1930s. | 11 | Clinical features and the traditional Chinese medicine therapeutic characteristics of 293 COVID-19 inpatient cases显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is now pandemic worldwide and has heavily overloaded hospitals in Wuhan City, China during the time between late January and February. We reported the clinical features and therapeutic characteristics of moderate COVID-19 cases in Wuhan that were treated via the integration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine. We collected electronic medical record (EMR) data, which included the full clinical profiles of patients, from a designated TCM hospital in Wuhan. The structured data of symptoms and drugs from admission notes were obtained through an information extraction process. Other key clinical entities were also confirmed and normalized to obtain information on the diagnosis, clinical treatments, laboratory tests, and outcomes of the patients. A total of 293 COVID-19 inpatient cases, including 207 moderate and 86 (29.3%) severe cases, were included in our research. Among these cases, 238 were discharged, 31 were transferred, and 24 (all severe cases) died in the hospital. Our COVID-19 cases involved elderly patients with advanced ages (57 years on average) and high comorbidity rates (61%). Our results reconfirmed several well-recognized risk factors, such as age, gender (male), and comorbidities, as well as provided novel laboratory indications (e.g., cholesterol) and TCM-specific phenotype markers (e.g., dull tongue) that were relevant to COVID-19 infections and prognosis. In addition to antiviral/antibiotics and standard supportive therapies, TCM herbal prescriptions incorporating 290 distinct herbs were used in 273 (93%) cases. The cases that received TCM treatment had lower death rates than those that did not receive TCM treatment (17/273= 6.2% vs. 7/20= 35%, P = 0.0004 for all cases;17/77= 22% vs. 7/9= 77.7%, P = 0.002 for severe cases). The TCM herbal prescriptions used for the treatment of COVID-19 infections mainly consisted of Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Radix Scutellariae, Rhizoma Pinellia, and their combinations, which reflected the practical TCM principles (e.g., clearing heat and dampening phlegm). Lastly, 59% of the patients received treatment, including antiviral, antibiotics, and Chinese patent medicine, before admission. This situation might have some effects on symptoms, such as fever and dry cough. By using EMR data, we described the clinical features and therapeutic characteristics of 293 COVID-19 cases treated via the integration of TCM herbal prescriptions and Western medicine. Clinical manifestations and treatments before admission and in the hospital were investigated. OBJECTIVE:Primary cultured rat cortical neurons were used to determine the effects of combined lead and cadmium on levels of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT),and acetylcholinesterase(AChE),as well as malondialdehyde(MDA),and to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of N-acetylcysteine(NAC). DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:An in vitro toxicological observation was performed at the Comparative Medicine Center of Yangzhou University from August 2007 to April 2008. METHODS:The cerebral cortical neurons were isolated from newborn Sprague dawley rats at 24 hours after birth and primary cultured for 6 days.Thereafter,the cells were treated with a range of cadmium doses(0,5.0,and 10.0μmol/L),lead doses(0,1.0,and 2.0μmol/L),or a combination of the two for 12 hours at 37℃in a 5%CO_2 incubator,respectively.In addition,the cells were incubated with different doses of cadmium and/or lead and(0 and 50μmol/L) NAC for 12 hours to assess the protective effects on cell survival. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The activity of SOD,GSH-Px,CAT,and AChE,as well as MDA content,in the cell lysates was detected using commercial kits. RESULTS:At 12 hours after treatment,compared to the control group,activity of GSH-Px,SOD, and AChE in the lead,cadmium,or combined treated cells was significantly decreased with increasing doses of cadmium/or lead(P<0.05),but CAT activity and MDA levels were significantly increased(P<0.05).The combination of cadmium and lead led to higher levels of toxicity than individual exposure. | 20 | High-efficiency simultaneous extraction of rare earth elements and iron from NdFeB waste by oxalic acid leaching显示文摘Iron can not be recovered at high value because only rare earth elements are effectively recovered from NdFeB waste via oxidation roasting-hydrochloric acid leaching process.In this study,a new method for leaching NdFeB waste with oxalic acid was developed.The high-efficiency,simultaneous and high-value recovery of rare earth elements and iron was realized to simplify the process and improve the economic benefit.Results of the oxalic acid leaching experiments show that under the optimum leaching conditions at 90℃ for 6 h in the aqueous solution of oxalic acid(2 mol/L) with a liquid-solid ratio of60 mL/g,the iron leaching efficiency and precipitation rate of rare earth oxalate reach 93.89% and 93.17%,respectively.Rare earth oxalate and Fe(C_(2)O_(4))3^(3-) were left in the residue and the leaching solution,respectively.The leaching mechanism was further analyzed by characterising the leach residues obtained through X-ray powder diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(SEM-EDS).Results of the leaching kinetics study indicate that the process of oxalic acid leaching follows the shrinking nucleus model,and the leaching kinetics model is controlled by the mixed factors of diffusion and chemical reaction.The leaching residue was calcined at 850℃ for 3 h and then decomposed into rare earth oxide,which can be directly used to prepare rare earth alloy via molten salt electrolysis.For the leaching solution,ferric oxalate solution was reduced using Fe powder to prepare the ferrous oxalate(FeC_(2)O_(4)-2H_(2)O). | Qingsheng Liu Tao Tu Hao Guo Huajin Cheng Xuezhong Wang | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,3: | 4 |
