Wing load investigation of the plunge-diving locomotion of a gannet Morus inspired submersible aircraft显示文摘In this paper,we studied the wing root pivot joint’s radial load of a submersible airplane which imitates the locomotion of gannet’s Morus plunge-diving,by implementing a test device name Mimic-Gannet.The housing of the device was designed by mimicking the morphology of a living gannet, and the folding wings were realized by the mechanism of variable swept back wing. Then, the radial loads of the wing root were obtained under the conditions of different dropping heights, different sweptback angles and different water-entry inclination angles(i.e.,the angle between the longitudinal body axis and the water surface),and the relationships between the peak radial load and the above three parameters were analyzed and discussed respectively. In the studied areas, the minimum peak radial load of the pivot joint is 50.93 N,while the maximum reaches up to1135.00 N.The largest peak load would be generated for the situation of vertical water entry and zero wing sweptback angle. And it is of great significance to choose the three parameters properly to reduce the pivot joint’s radial load,i.e.,larger wing sweptback angle, smaller dropping height and water-entry inclination angle. It is also concluded that the peak radial load on the wing root is closely linear with the water-entry dropping height and the wing sweptback angle with a significant correlation.Eventually, the relationship between the wing load and the dropping height,water-entry inclination angle or wing sweptback angle, could be used to calculate the wing load about plunge-diving of a submersible aircraft, and the conclusions reveal the wing load characteristic of the gannet’s plunge process for the biologists.LIANG JianHong YAO GuoCai WANG TianMiao YANG XingBang ZHAO WenDi SONG Gang ZHANG YuCheng 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,2:5
Bushen Qiangjin capsule(补肾强筋胶囊) inhibits the Wnt/β-catenin pathway to ameliorate papain-induced knee osteoarthritis in rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the molecular mechanism underlying the beneficial effect of Bushen Qiangjin capsule(补肾强筋胶囊,BSQJ),a Traditional Chinese Medicine,on knee osteoarthritis(KOA).METHODS:In the present study,32 female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups:control,KOA,high-dose BSQJ(H-BSQJ),and low-dose BSQJ(L-BSQJ).After successfully establishing the KOA model by intra-articular injection of papain,H-BSQJ and L-BSQJ groups were intragastrically administered 0.243 and 0.122 g/kg BSQJ,respectively, daily for 6 weeks. At the end of the experiment, knee articular cartilage tissues of rats were collected for evaluation by hematoxylin and eosin staining,Safranin O-Fast Green staining, and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP nick-end labeling assay.Serum interleukin-1βand tumor necrosis factor-αlevels of rats were detected with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method.Gene expression of Wnt-4,β-catenin,Frizzled-2,glycogen synthase kinase-3β(GSK-3β),cysteinyl aspartate-specific proteinases 3 and 9(caspases 3 and 9),collagen typeⅡalpha 1(Col2 a1),and matrix metalloproteinases 1 and 13(MMP-1 and MMP-3)of rat knee articular cartilage was quantified by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis.Wnt-4,β-catenin,Frizzled-2,GSK-3β,cleaved caspase-3,and cleaved caspase-9 protein expression in rat knee articular cartilage was determined by western blot analysis.RESULTS:BSQJ obviously reduced pathological damage and matrix degradation of articular cartilage in KOA rats.Compared with the KOA group,H-BSQJ rats exhibited downregulated m RNA and protein expression of Wnt-4,β-catenin,Frizzled-2,and caspase-3,as well as upregulated m RNA and protein expression of GSK-3β.In addition,H-BSQJ significantly increased m RNA expression of Col2 a1 and decreased m RNA expression of MMP-1 and MMP-13.CONCLUSION:BSQJ exerted a beneficial effect on KOA by a mechanism involving downregulation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, which inhibited both cartilage extracellular matrix degradation and chondrocyte apoptosis to ameliorate KOA in rats.YAO Nan CHEN Guocai LU Yanyan XU Xuemeng ZHAO Chuanxi HUANG Xuejun LIU Wengang PENG Sha WU Huai 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,6:5
MicroPhenoDB Associates Metagenomic Data with Pathogenic Microbes, Microbial Core Genes, and Human Disease Phenotypes显示文摘Microbes play important roles in human health and disease. The interaction between microbes and hosts is a reciprocal relationship, which remains largely under-explored.Current computational resources lack manually and consistently curated data to connect metagenomic data to pathogenic microbes, microbial core genes, and disease phenotypes. We developed the MicroPhenoDB database by manually curating and consistently integrating microbe-disease association data.MicroPhenoDB provides 5677 non-redundant associations between 1781 microbes and 542 human disease phenotypes across more than 22 human body sites.MicroPhenoDB also provides 696,934 relationships between 27,277 unique clade-specific core genes and 685 microbes.Disease phenotypes are classified and described using the Experimental Factor Ontology(EFO).A refined score model was developed to prioritize the associations based on evidential metrics. The sequence search option in MicroPhenoDB enables rapid identification of existing pathogenic microbes in samples without running the usual metagenomic data processing and assembly.MicroPhenoDB offers data browsing, searching, and visualization through user-friendly web interfaces and web service application programming interfaces.MicroPhenoDB is the first database platform to detail the relationships between pathogenic microbes, core genes, and disease phenotypes. It will accelerate metagenomic data analysis and assist studies in decoding microbes related to human diseases.MicroPhenoDB is available through http://gffzz48e60a93f2344cb7hcc6koxnp0nko6bbw.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/microphenodb and http://gffzz6f0fd43d3fcf4a2ehcc6koxnp0nko6bbw.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/microphenodb.Guocai Yao Wenliang Zhang Minglei Yang Huan Yang Jianbo Wang Haiyue Zhang Lai Wei Zhi Xie Weizhong Li 2020Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2020,18,6:0
Changes of Rubisco in Flag Leaves of Wheat with Different Quality Types during Grain Filling Stage显示文摘[Objective]In this study, the formation mechanism of grain quality of soft wheat was investigated to provide support for soft wheat breeding.[Method]Using soft and hard wheat varieties as experimental materials, changes of Rubisco(ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase)degradation in flag leaves with different quality types during grain filling stage were investigated.[Result]Chlorophyll content and Rubisco content were both gradually reduced in flag leaves of wheat cultivars with different quality types during grain filling stage.Changes of Rubisco content were insignificant at early grain filling stage, but Rubisco content in flag leaves of soft wheat was higher than that of hard wheat at mid-late grain filling stage.Degradation products of Rubisco large subunits with molecular weight of 51 kD could be detected in flag leaves of various wheat cultivars.Rubisco in flag leaves of hard wheat Zheng 9023 was significantly earlier degraded compared with Yangmai 15,indicating that leaf senescence in hard wheat was earlier than soft wheat, which suggested that the protein accumulation in wheat grains may be related with Rubisco degradation in flag leaves after anthesis.[Conclusion]This study implied the foundation of soft wheat breeding and optimization of cultivation and wheat management in the field.Peng ZHANG Jinbao YAO Guocai YAO Xueming YANG Hongxiang MA 2013Agricultural Biotechnology2013,2,6:0
Finding finer functions for partially characterized proteins by protein-protein interaction networks显示文摘Based on high-throughput data, numerous algorithms have been designed to find functions of novel proteins. However, the effectiveness of such algorithms is currently limited by some fundamental factors, including (1) the low a-priori probability of novel proteins participating in a detailed function; (2) the huge false data present in high-throughput datasets; (3) the incomplete data coverage of functional classes; (4) the abundant but heterogeneous negative samples for training the algorithms; and (5) the lack of detailed functional knowledge for training algorithms. Here, for partially characterized proteins, we suggest an approach to finding their finer functions based on protein interaction sub-networks or gene expression patterns, defined in function-specific subspaces. The proposed approach can lessen the above-mentioned problems by properly defining the prediction range and functionally filtering the noisy data, and thus can efficiently find proteins’ novel functions. For thousands of yeast and human proteins partially characterized, it is able to reliably find their finer functions (e.g., the translational functions) with more than 90% precision. The predicted finer functions are highly valuable both for guiding the follow-up wet-lab validation and for providing the necessary data for training algorithms to learn other proteins.LI YanHui GUO Zheng MA WenCai YANG Da WANG Dong ZHANG Min ZHU ding ZHONG GuoCai LI YongJin YAO Chen WANG Jing 2007Chinese Science Bulletin2007,52,24:0
