| 2 | Dietary habits and behaviors associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is one of the most frequent causes of health problems in Western(industrialized)countries.Moreover,the incidence of infantile NAFLD is increasing,with some of these patients progressing to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.These trends depend on dietary habits and life-style.In particular,overeating and its associated obesity affect the development of NAFLD.Nutritional problems in patients with NAFLD include excess intake of energy,carbohydrates,and lipids,and shortages of polyunsaturated fatty acids,vitamins,and minerals.Although nutritional therapeutic approaches are required for prophylaxis and treatment of NAFLD,continuous nutrition therapy is difficult for many patients because of their dietary habits and lifestyle,and because the motivation for treatment differs among patients.Thus,it is necessary to assess the nutritional background and to identify nutritional problems in each patient with NAFLD.When assessing dietary habits,it is important to individually evaluate those that are consumed excessively or insufficiently,as well as inappropriate eating behaviors.Successful nutrition therapy requires patient education,based on assessments of individual nutrients,and continuing the treatment.In this article,we update knowledge about NAFLD,review the important aspects of nutritional assessment targeting treatment success,and present some concrete nutritional care plans which can be applied generally. | Kenichiro Yasutake Motoyuki Kohjima Kazuhiro Kotoh Manabu Nakashima Makoto Nakamuta Munechika Enjoji | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,7: | 9 |
| 3 | Relationship between microvessel count and post-hepatectomy survival in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To elucidate the relationship between the microvessel count (MVC) by CD34 analyzed by immunohistochemical method and prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients who underwent hepatectomy based on our preliminary study. METHODS: We examined relationships between MVC and clinicopathological factors in 128 HCC patients. The modifi ed Japan Integrated Staging score (mJIS) was applied to examine subsets of HCC patients. RESULTS: Median MVC was 178/mm^2, which was used as a cut-off value. MVC was not signif icantly associated with any clinicopathologic factors or postoperative recurrent rate. Lower MVC was associated with poor disease-free and overall survivals by univariate analysis (P = 0.039 and P = 0.087, respectively) and lower MVC represented an independent poor prognostic factor in disease-free survival by Cox’s multivariateanalysis (risk ratio, 1.64; P = 0.024), in addition to tumor size, vascular invasion, macroscopic fi nding and hepatic dysfunction. Signifi cant differences in disease-free and overall survivals by MVC were observed in HCC patients with mJIS 2 (P = 0.046 and P = 0.0014, respectively), but not in those with other scores. | 5 | Characterization and performance of Pt/SBA-15 for low-temperature SCR of NO by C_3H_6显示文摘Pt supported on mesoporous silica SBA-15 was investigated as a catalyst for low temperature selective catalytic reduction(SCR) of NO by C 3 H 6 in the presence of excess oxygen.The prepared catalysts were characterized by means of XRD,BET surface area,TEM,NO-TPD,NO/C 3 H 6-TPO,NH 3-TPD,XPS and 27 Al MAS NMR.The effects of Pt loading amount,O 2 /C 3 H 6 concentration,and incorporation of Al into SBA-15 have been studied.It was found that the removal efficiency increased significantly after Pt loading,but an optimal loading amount was observed.In particular,under an atmosphere of 150 ppm NO,150 ppm C 3 H 6,and 18 vol.% O 2,0.5% Pt/SBA-15 showed remarkably high catalytic performance giving 80.1% NOx reduction and 87.04% C 3 H 6 conversion simultaneously at 140°C.The enhanced SCR activity of Pt/SBA-15 is associated with its outstanding oxidation activities of NO to NO 2 and C 3 H 6 to CO 2 in low temperature range.The research results also suggested that higher concentration of O 2 and higher concentration of C 3 H 6 favored NO removal.The incorporation of Al into SBA-15 improved catalytic performance,which could be ascribed to the enhancement of catalyst surface acidity caused by tetrahedrally coordinated AlO 4.Moreover,the catalysts could be easily reused and possessed good stability. | Xinyong Liu Zhi Jiang Mingxia Chen Jianwei Shi Wenfeng Shangguan Yasutake Teraoka | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,5: | 5 |
| 6 | Inhibitory effect of voglibose and gymnemic acid on maltose absorption in vivo显示文摘AIM To determine whether diabetic care can be improved by combination of voglibose and gymnemic acid ( GA ), we compared the combinative and individual effects of voglibose and GA on maltose absorption in small intestine.METHODS The small intestine 30 cm long from 2 cm caudal ward Treitz's ligament of Wistar rat was used as an in situ loop, which was randomly perfused in recircular mode with maltose (10 mmol/L) with or without different dosages of voglibose and/or GA for an hour. To compare the time course, perfusion of 10 mmol/L maltose was repeated four times.Each time continued for 1 hour and separated by 30 minutes rinse. In the first time, lower dosages of GA (0.5g/ L) and/ or voglibose (2μmol/L) were contained except control.RESULTS Absorptive rate of maltose was the lowest in combinative group (P< 0.05, ANOVA),for example, the inhibition rate was about 37%during the first hour when 0.5g/L GA and 2μmol/L voglibose with 10mmol/L maltose were perfused in the loop. The onset time was shortened to 30 minutes and the effective duration was prolonged to 4 hours with the combination; therefore the total amount of maltose absorption during the effective duration was inhibited more significantly than that in the individual administration (P<0.05, U test of Mann-Whitney). The effect of GA on absorptive barriers of the intestine played an important role in the combinative effects.CONCLUSION There are augmented effects of voglibose and GA. | 10 | Inhibitory effect and mechanism of acarbose combined with gymnemic acid on maltose absorption in rat intestine显示文摘AIM To compare the combinative andindividual effect of acarbose and gymnemic acid(GA) on maltose absorption and hydrolysis insmall intestine to determine whether nutrientcontrol in diabetic care can be improved bycombination of them.METHODS The absorption and hydrolysis ofmaltose were studied by cyclic perfusion ofintestinal loops in situ and motility of theintestine was recorded with the intestinal ring invitro using Wistar rats.RESULTS The total inhibitory rate of maltoseabsorption was improved by the combination ofGA (0.1 g/L 1.0 g/L) and acarbose(0.1 mmol/L 2.0 mmol/L) throughout theireffective duration (P<0.05, U test of Mann-Whitney), although the improvement only couldbe seen at a Iow dosage during the first hour.With the combination, inhibitory duration of acarbose on maltose absorption was prolonged to 3 h and the inhibitory effect onset of GA was fastened to 15min. GA suppressed the intestinal mobility with a good correlation (r-0.98) to the inhibitory effect of GA on maltose absorption and the inhibitory effect of 2mmol/L (high dose) acarbose on maltose hydrolysis was dual modulated by 1 g/L GA in vivo indicating that the combined effects involved the functional alteration of intestinal barriers.CONCLUSION There are augmented effects of acarbose and GA, which involve pre-cellular and paracellular barriers.
