1Mini-LED,Micro-LED and OLED displays:present status and future perspectives显示文摘Presently,liquid crystal displays(LCDs)and organic light-emitting diode(OLED)displays are two dominant flat panel display technologies.Recently,inorganic mini-LEDs(mLEDs)and micro-LEDs(μLEDs)have emerged by significantly enhancing the dynamic range of LCDs or as sunlight readable emissive displays.“mLED,OLED,orμLED:who wins?”is a heated debatable question.In this review,we conduct a comprehensive analysis on the material properties,device structures,and performance of mLED/μLED/OLED emissive displays and mLED backlit LCDs.We evaluate the power consumption and ambient contrast ratio of each display in depth and systematically compare the motion picture response time,dynamic range,and adaptability to flexible/transparent displays.The pros and cons of mLED,OLED,andμLED displays are analysed,and their future perspectives are discussed.Yuge Huang En-Lin Hsiang Ming-Yang Deng Shin-Tson Wu 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:39
2Spatial heterogeneity of DTPA-extractable zinc in cultivated soils induced by city pollution and land use显示文摘The spatial heterogeneity of DTPA-extractable zinc in the cultivated soils of Shenyang suburbs in Liaoning Province of China was investigated, and its map was drawn by the methods of geostatistics combined with geographic information system. The data of soil DTPA-extractable zinc fitted normal distribution after logarithm transformation, and its semivariogram fitted a spherical model. The semivariogram indicated that the spatial dependence of soil DTPA-extractable zinc content was moderate, with the spatial dependence range of 1.69 km and the fractal dimension of 1.96. Stochastic factors contributed to 49.9% of the spatial variability, while structural factors contributed to 50.1% of it. The spatial heterogeneity of soil DTPA-extractable zinc shown by a kriged interpolation map was deeply influenced by stochastic factors such as city pollution, land use pattern and crop distributions. For example, the average content of Zn in vegetable garden soils was 2.5-4 times as much as in their originated soils, and was lower in paddy soils than in their originated soils. The areas with a higher content of soil DTPA-extractable zinc appeared in the near suburbs and the riverside along Hunhe River and the wastewater drainage of Xihe River, and the extremely high values in the near suburb of the city's residential area were a striking feature, indicating the key role of city pollution in the spatial heterogeneity of soil DTPA-extractable zinc. 4Soil exchangeable base cations along a chronosequence of Caragana microphylla plantation in a semi-arid sandy land,China显示文摘As a pioneer leguminous shrub species for vegetation re-establishment,Caragana microphylla is widely distributed in the semi-fixed and fixed sandy lands of the Horqin region,North China.C.microphylla plantations modify organic carbon(SOC),nitrogen(N) and phosphorus dynamics,bulk density and water-holding capacity,and biological activities in soils,but little is known with regard to soil exchange properties.Variation in soil exchangeable base cations was examined under C.microphylla plantations with an age sequence of 0,5,10,and 22 years in the Horqin Sandy Land,and at the depth of 0-10,10-20,and 20-30 cm,respectively.C.microphylla has been planted on the non-vegetated sand dunes with similar physical-chemical soil properties.The results showed that exchangeable calcium(Ca),magnesium(Mg),and potassium(K),and cation exchange capacity(CEC) were significantly increased,and Ca saturation tended to decrease,while Mg and K saturations were increased with the plantation years.No difference was observed for exchangeable sodium(Na) neither with plantation years nor at soil depths.Of all the base cations and soil layers,exchangeable K at the depth of 0-10 cm accumulated most quickly,and it increased by 1.76,3.16,and 4.25 times,respectively after C.microphylla was planted for 5,10,and 22 years.Exchangeable Ca,Mg,and K,and CEC were significantly(P<0.001) and positively correlated with SOC,total N,pH,and electrical conductivity(EC).Soil pH and SOC are regarded as the main factors influencing the variation in exchangeable cations,and the preferential absorption of cations by plants and different leaching rates of base cations that modify cation saturations under C.microphylla plantation.It is concluded that as a nitrogen-fixation species,C.microphylla plantation is beneficial to increasing exchangeable base cations and CEC in soils,and therefore can improve soil fertility and create favorable microenvironments for plants and creatures in the semi-arid sandy land ecosystems.YuGe ZHANG ZhuWen XU DeMing JIANG Yong JIANG 2013Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1:11
5DELLA and EDS1 Form a Feedback Regulatory Module to Fine-Tune Plant Growth-Defense Tradeoff in Arabidopsis显示文摘Plants maintain a dynamic balance between growth and defense,and optimize allocation of resources for survival under constant pathogen infections.However,the underlying molecular regulatory mechanisms,especially in response to biotrophic bacterial infection,remain elusive.Here,we demonstrate that DELLA proteins and EDS1,an essential resistance regulator,form a central module modulating plant growth-defense tradeoffs via direct interaction.When infected by Pst DC3000,EDS1 rapidly promotes salicylic acid(SA)biosynthesis and resistance-related gene expression to prime defense response,while pathogen infection stabilizes DELLA proteins RGA and RGL3 to restrict growth in a partially EDS1-dependent manner,which facilitates plants to develop resistance to pathogens.However,the increasingly accumulated DELLAs interact with EDS1 to suppress SA overproduction and excessive resistance response.Taken together,our findings reveal a DELLA-EDS1-mediated feedback regulatory loop by which plants maintain the subtle balance between growth and defense to avoid excessive growth or defense in response to constant biotrophic pathogen attack.Yuge Li Yuhua Yang Yilong Hu Hailun Liu Ming He Ziyin Yang Fanjiang Kong Xu Liu Xingliang Hou 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,11:8
6Sheep manure application increases soil exchangeable base cations in a semi-arid steppe of Inner Mongolia显示文摘The long-term productivity of a soil is greatly influenced by cation exchange capacity(CEC).Moreover,interactions between dominant base cations and other nutrients are important for the health and stability of grassland ecosystems.Soil exchangeable base cations and cation ratios were examined in a 11-year experiment with sheep manure application rates 0–1,500 g/(m2?a) in a semi-arid steppe in Inner Mongolia of China,aiming to clarify the relationships of base cations with soil p H,buffer capacity and fertility.Results showed that CEC and contents of exchangeable calcium(Ca2+),magnesium(Mg2+),potassium(K+) and sodium(Na+) were significantly increased,and Ca2+ saturation tended to decrease,while K+ saturation tended to increase with the increases of sheep manure application rates.The Ca2+/Mg2+ and Ca2+/K+ ratios decreased,while Mg2+,K+ and Na+ saturations increased with increasing manure application rates.Both base cations and CEC were significantly and positively correlated with soil organic carbon(SOC) and soil p H.The increases of SOC and soil p H would be the dominant factors that contribute to the increase of cations in soil.On a comparison with the initial soil p H before the experiment,we deduced that sheep manure application could partly buffer soil p H decrease potentially induced by atmospheric deposition of nitrogen and sulfur.Our results indicate that sheep manure application is beneficial to the maintenance of base cations and the buffering of soil acidification,and therefore can improve soil fertility in the semi-arid steppes of northeastern China.YuGe ZHANG Shan YANG MingMing FU JiangPing CAI YongYong ZHANG RuZhen WANG ZhuWen XU YongFei BAI Yong JIANG 2015Journal of Arid Land2015,7,3:7
7Investigation on performance of a solar thermophotovoltaic system显示文摘In the light of the thermo-electric conversion principle, a model for predicting the performance of a solar thermophotovoltaic system is presented. The temperature distributions of the emitter for different concentrator ratios are numerically computed and the influence of the concentrator ratio on the system performance is analyzed. Numerical results show that the emitter temperature and the system efficiency increase with increase of the concentrator ratio. 935 ka BP climate simulations in East Asia and probing the mechanisms of climate changes显示文摘Paleoclimate modeling has become an impor- tant tool to detect the future climate of the global warming that is difficult to be validated. The paleoclimate modeling has to be evaluated by regionally geological data in order to determine if it is able to reproduce a reality of climate states. Geological evidence shows that there was a warm-wet inter- stadial at 35000±3000 a BP in China, which provides an im- portant climate period to be historical analogue for the fu- ture climate changes induced by greenhouse gas emissions. Integrated geological records of later phase of the MSI3 from China also provide basements for evaluation of 35 ka BP climate modeling. This paper reports the paleoclimate ex- periments applied by various forces, and validates the out- puts by geological data, consequently improving the bound- ary conditions in the experiments and making the paleocli- mates more approach the reality. The simulations show an increased temperature in the mid-low latitudes and an ex- tended rain-belt northwards in East Asia, while a decreased temperature in high latitudes and a strong exchange of the N-S atmospheric circulation. 10Generating broad-spectrum tolerance to ALS-inhibiting herbicides in rice by base editing显示文摘Herbicide-tolerant rice varieties generated by genome editing are highly desirable for weed control.We have used a cytosine base editor to create a series of missense mutations in the P171 and/or G628 codons of the acetolactate synthase(ALS)gene to confer herbicide tolerance in rice.The four different missense mutations in the P171 codon,P171S,P171A,P171Yand P171F,exhibited different patterns of tolerance towards five representative herbicides from five chemical families of ALS inhibitors.For example,P171S and P171A had lower levels of tolerance than P171Y and P171F to bispyribac but not to the other herbicides.Interestingly,a novel triple mutant(P171F/G628E/G629S)had the highest tolerance to all five tested herbicides.Field trials showed that both P171F and P171F/G628E/G629S could potentially be used with nicosulfuron.Our work illustrates an effective way of using base editing to generate herbicide tolerance in elite rice varieties.Rui Zhang Sha Chen Xiangbing Meng Zhuangzhuang Chai Delin Wang Yuge Yuan Kunling Chen Linjian Jiang Jiayang Li Caixia Gao 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,10:4
11Genetic Analysis of a Dwarf Vine and Small Fruit Watermelon Mutant显示文摘The dwarf vine and small fruit watermelon, referred to as ‘dsh' in this study, is a natural mutant of the ordinary watermelon, ‘Hanxuan Lvyuan'.Morphological assessment indicated that its main vine length, internode length, and single-fruit weight were significantly lower than those of the ordinary watermelon(P < 0.05). After crossing the mutant with two ordinary watermelons, following by inbreeding the F_1 and backcrossing(BC)F_1 to ‘dsh', the F_1, F_2, and BC generations were obtained. Genetic analysis of vine type and single-fruit weight showed that the F_1 generation consisted of long-vine plants, with single-fruit weight significantly higher than that of the ordinary parent watermelon(P < 0.05). The long and short vine plant ratios of the F_2 and BC populations conform to the Mendel's segregation ratios of 3:1 and 1:1(P > 0.05), respectively. 12Cloned goats (Gapra hircus) from foetal fibroblast cell lines显示文摘Mammalian cloning has been one of the most active research topics in the world. Cioning with in vitro culured foetal fibroblast cells, in comparison with embryonic cells, can be used not only to theoretically study the embryonic or cellular development and differentiation in mammals, but also to utilize the unlimited fibroblast cells to produce large numbers of clonings. The preliminary results are as follows: (i) The division and development of the cloned embryos with embryonic donor cells and goat foetal fibroblast donor cells were 55%, 77% and 35%, 31%, respectively. There is no significant statistical difference between them. (? These studies result in the birth of two cloned goats derived from two 30-day foetal fibroblast celi lines, which are the first cloned mammals from somatic cells in China. 13Molecular characterization of α-gliadin genes from common wheat cultivar Zhengmai 004 and their role in quality and celiac disease显示文摘A total of 43 unique clones(Z4A-1 to Z4A-43 with GenBank accession numbers of HM120221, HM120222, JX828270, JN831402 to JN831406, and KC715889 to KC715923, respectively) were amplified and cloned from common wheat cultivar Zhengmai 004 using a PCR-based strategy. They included 22 full-ORF α-gliadin genes and 21 pseudogenes containing at least one in-frame stop codon. Comparative analysis of the deduced amino acid sequences showed that all the isolated genes displayed the typical structural features of α-gliadin genes and that the putative proteins of Z4A-7, Z4A-14, Z4A-17 and Z4A-20 had an extra cysteine residue in the unique domain II, while Z4A-15 lacked the second conserved cysteine residue in the unique domain I. The two fusion proteins of Z4A-15 and Z4A-20 were successfully detected by SDS-PAGE and Western blotting, although the protein level was relatively low. Based on the occurrence of the four major epitopes, as well as the lengths of the two glutamine repeats, 8, 6, and 8 genes were assigned to the Gli-2 loci on the respective chromosomes 6A, 6B, and 6D and a total of respectively 16, 0 and 23 immunogenic peptides were identified. In addition, 4 of the 5 genes with odd numbers of cysteine residues were assigned to chromosome 6D, suggesting that common wheat cultivar Zhengmai 004 has the potential to induce celiac disease(CD) and that the D genome exerts the most influence on gluten quality, but is the most deleterious for CD patients. By phylogenetic analysis, 11 exceptional α-gliadins with few or no immunogenic peptides from Triticum monococcum and Aegilops tauschii were detected, a finding that further supports the prospect of CD prevention. Finally, secondary structure prediction showed that most(98.48%) of the α-gliadins invariably contained five conserved α-helices(H1 to H5) in the two glutamine repeats and unique domains and 67.68% of the α-gliadins also contained a β-strand(S) in the C-terminal unique domains. An absent α-helix H2, 1–2 extra α-helices, or an additional β-strand(SE) also probably occurred in some cases. Of the 22 cloned genes in this work, 10 putative proteins contained 1–2 extra α-helices in addition to the five conserved α-helices or the additional β-strand. The observation that most of the α-helices and β-strands were present in the two unique domains and that an extra α-helix also probably occurred in the two glutamine repeats in some desirable genes strongly suggested that these two uniquedomains are the most important regions for the function of α-gliadins, although the glutamine repeats would also contribute in some cases.Yuge Li Ranran Xin Dale Zhang Suoping Li 2014The Crop Journal2014,2,1:3
14Investigation of the entropy generation and efficiency of a solar thermophotovoltaic system显示文摘Based on the second law of thermodynamics,a theoretical model is established for efficiency analysis and optimization of a solar thermophotovoltaic (STPV) system. The entropy generation in the photo-electricity conversion process is numerically calculated and analyzed for the component modules involved in the whole system assembly. The effects of the emitter temperature,concentration ratio,energy bandgap,cell temperature and the transmissivity of the filter on the entropy and the efficiency are investigated. Meanwhile,the conversion efficiencies of the modules are discussed. The following results are obtained:at first the entropy generation of the system reduces but then increases with the rise of the emitter temperature. When the concentration ratio improves,the entropy generation of the system falls. The increase of the bandgap value and chemical potential of the cell also causes the reduction of the entropy generation. 15Investigation of one-dimensional Si/SiO_2 photonic crystals for thermophotovoltaic filter显示文摘The spectral control is widely incorporated with the thermophotovoltaic (TPV) technology to improve the optical-electric conversion efficiency of the whole sys- tem. In order to match with GaSb photovoltaic cell, an 8-layer one-dimensional photonic crystals (PC) filter structure was designed as quarter-wave periodic structure by selecting silicon (Si) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) as candidate materials. The multilayer Si/SiO2 structure was developed for the matching filter to simulta- neously realize the optimal matching with the spectral distribution of the high temperature emitter and the quantum efficiency of GaSb cell. The physical vapor deposition (PVD) method was used to fabricate the optical filter and the normal incidence optical property of the filter was measured within the spectral range from 0.7 to 3.3 μm. These experimental data were used to predict the spectral control performance in a TPV system. 16A case of intrahepatic clear cell cholangiocarcinoma显示文摘Intrahepatic clear cell cholangiocarcinoma is very rareonly 8 cases have been reported.A 56-year-old Japanese man with chronic hepatitis B infection was diagnosed with a 2.2 cm hepatocellular carcinoma on imaging,and hepatic segmentectomy was performed.Histopathologically,the tumor cells had copious clear cytoplasm and formed glandular structures or solid nests.These pathological findings suggested the tumor was a clear cell variant of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.Particular stains and radiological images suggested that the cause of the clear cell change had been glycogen,not mucin nor lipid.On immunohistochemical staining,cytokeratin(CK)7 and CK19 were positive,whereas CK20 was negative.Vimentin was detected on the cell membranes,and CD56 was focally positive.The patient was given adjuvant chemotherapy and is currently free from the tumor 7 mo postoperatively.Careful follow-up with adequate postoperative supplementary chemotherapy is necessary because the characteristics of this type of tumor are unknown.Eo Toriyama Atsushi Nanashima Hideyuki Hayashi Kuniko Abe Naoe Kinoshita Shunsuke Yuge Takeshi Nagayasu Masataka Uetani Tomayoshi Hayashi 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,20:2

18Restart-up Performance of a CFB Boiler after a Sudden Power Failure Accident显示文摘Due to the massive bed materials in its typical main loop,a circulating fluidized bed(CFB)boiler may face greater trouble in operation and restart-up if an unplanned sudden power failure happens in the power plant.This study aims to explore the restart-up performance of a 170 t/h natural circulation CFB boiler after a sudden power failure and evaluate whether the hot restart-up can be realized.The heat transfer process after the restoration of the primary air is modeled.Validating the isothermal property of the bed after the restoration of the power and air supply,the correlation among the accident duration time,bed temperature after the power restores,inlet air temperature,air supply time,and air velocity is proposed.The predicted results indicate that the major influencing factor of the bed temperature during this process is primary air velocity.To provide guidelines for judgment on whether the hot restart-up can be realized,the maximum values of the air supply time and accident duration time for hot restart-up for different types of coals are given.The results show both of them have a rapid decrease as the coal ignition temperature in a CFB boiler increases from 450°C to 650°C,which also means that the coal ignition temperature plays a very important role in the restart-up process.Based on the simulation results of bed temperature during the accident,it is also estimated that the drum level drops by 77.7 mm after 8 hours but still stays in the permissible range.YAO Yuge JIANG Ling XIAO Huiren DENG Boyu ZHANG Man ZHANG Yang YANG Hairui LYU Junfu 2022Journal of Thermal Science2022,31,3:2
19Roles of Te and Mn in the two phases of manganite with nominal composition La_(0.6)Sr_(0.1)Te_xMnO_3显示文摘Powder samples with nominal composition La0.6Sr0.1TexMnO3 (x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20) were prepared using the sol-gel method with thermal treatment up to 1473 K. On the basis of powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric and magnetic measurements, it was found that almost all of the Te and a few of the Mn ions were lost from the samples when they were calcined at 1473 K.
