2Clinical observation on effect of scalp electroacupuncture for mild cognitive impairment显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of scalp electroacupuncture for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in the early stage. METHODS: Two hundred and thirty three MCI patients were randomly divided into three groups: the drug group, the scalp electroacupuncture group, and the syndrome differentiation group. For the scalp electroacupuncture group, the points of Baihui (DU 20), Sishecong (EX-HN1), Fengchi (GB 20), and Shenting (DU 24) were selected. For the syndrome differentiation group, specific acupoints were added on the basis of syndrome differentiation and according to the scale for the differentiation of syndromes in vascular dementia (SDSVD) beside the acupoints used in the scalp electroacupuncture group. For the drug group, nimodipine was orally administered. Each patient was treated for two courses, eight weeks. The score differences in minimental state examination (MMSE), picture recognition, and clock drawing test were observed before and after the treatment. RESULTS: After treatment, the score differences in MMSE and clock drawing test were of obvious statistical significance among three groups (P<0.01, P<0.05). The score differences in picture recognition were of extremely statistical significance between the scalp electroacupuncture group and the syndrome differentiation group (P<0.01), while the difference was not found in the drug group (P>0.05). There were statistical significant differences in therapeutic effects between the scalp electroacupuncture group and the drug group, and between the syndrome differentiation group and the drug group (P<0.05), while no statistical difference was found between scalp electroacupuncture group and the syndrome differentiation group (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: All the three therapies may improve the cognitive function of MCI patients. 3Lycium barbarum polysaccharides protects retinal ganglion cells against oxidative stress injury显示文摘The accumulation of excessive reactive oxygen species can exacerbate any injury of retinal tissue because free radicals can trigger lipid peroxidation,protein damage and DNA fragmentation.Increased oxidative stress is associated with the common pathological process of many eye diseases,such as glaucoma,diabetic retinopathy and ischemic optic neuropathy.Many studies have demonstrated that Lycium barbarum polysaccharides(LBP)protects against oxidative injury in numerous cells and tissues.For the model of hypoxia we used cultured retinal ganglion cells and induced hypoxia by incubating with 200μM cobalt chloride(CoCl2)for 24 hours.To investigate the protective effect of LBP and its mechanism of action against oxidative stress injury,the retinal tissue was pretreated with 0.5 mg/mL LBP for 24 hours.The results of flow cytometric analysis showed LBP could effectively reduce the CoCl2-induced retinal ganglion cell apoptosis,inhibited the generation of reactive oxygen species and the reduction of mitochondrial membrane potential.These findings suggested that LBP could protect retinal ganglion cells from CoCl2-induced apoptosis by reducing mitochondrial membrane potential and reactive oxygen species.Lian Liu Xiao-Yuan Sha Yi-Ning Wu Meng-Ting Chen Jing-Xiang Zhong 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,8:23
4Therapeutic effect of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator on acute cerebral infarction at different times显示文摘BACKGROUND:The study aimed to compare the therapeutic effect of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator(rt-PA) on the onset of acute cerebral infarction(ACI) at different time points of the first 6 hours.METHODS:A retrospective analysis was conducted in 74 patients who received rt-PA thrombolysis treatment within 4.5 hours after ACI and another 15 patients who received rt-PA thrombolysis treatment between 4.5-6 hours after ACI.RESULTS:National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) scores were statistically decreased in both groups(P>0.05) at 24 hours and 7 days after ACI.There was no significant difference in modified ranking scores and mortality at 90 days after the treatment between the two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSIONS:The therapeutic effect and mortality of rt-PA treatment in patients with ACI between 4.5-6 hours after the onset of the disease were similar to those in patients who received rtPA within 4.5 hours after the onset of this disease.Therefore,intravenous thrombolytic therapy for ACI within 4.5-6 hours after ACI was effective and safe.Ming Liu Hai-rong Wang Jia-fu Liu Hao-jun Li Shen-xing Chen Sha Shen Shu-ming Pan 2013World Journal of Emergency Medicine2013,4,3:20

7Effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza on intestinal microflora in rats with ischemia/reperfusion liver injury显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury may induce intestinal microflora imbalance. Salvia miltiorrhiza is effective in promoting blood circulation and counteracting peroxidation in tissues. The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza on intestinal mi- croflora, endotoxemia, and bacterial translocation in rats with hepatic I/R injury. METHODS: Sprague-Dawley rats in specific pathogen free grade were divided into 3 groups: group I(n =6) for sham operation: groups ( n = 7) for liver ische- mia for 20 minutes and reperfusion for 22 hours. Group was also pretreated with 4 ml/day of Salvia miltiorrhiza solu- tion (250 mg/kg) by daily gavage for 7 days. The levels of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate amino- transferase (AST), malondialdehyde ( MDA) and supero- xide dismutase ( SOD ) in liver tissues, serum endotoxin, intestinal bacterial counts, intestinal mucosal histology and bacterial translocation were studied. RESULTS: The levels of ALT, AST, plasma endotoxin and MDA in liver tissues were decreased more markedly in group (57.57 ± 18.08 U/L, 147.57 ±40.84 U/L, 0.42 ± 0.144 EU/ml and 0. 52 ±0.19 nmol/mg-prot respectively) in group 295.9±216.92 U/L, 0.80± 0.262 EU/ml and 0.72±0.12 nmol/mg-prot; P <0.05-0.01 respectively). Liver SOD activity was increased more sig- nificantly in group (318.47±64.62 U/mg-prot) than in group U/mg-prot, P<0.05). The counts of Bifidobacteria and Bacteroides increased more significantly in group than in group but were similar to those in group I. Bacterial translocation to the kidney in group was 50% (5/10), whereas no bacterial translocation to the kidney occurred in the other two groups (P <0. 01). 13A multiplex PCR for differential detection of Echinococcus granulosus sensu stricto,Echinococcus multilocularis and Echinococcus canadensis in China显示文摘Background:Echinococcosis caused byEchinococcus is one of the most major infectious diseases in north-west highland of China.E.granulosus sensu strict,E.multilocularis,andE.canadensis are known to be the only three species related to human health transmitting in the areas.To achieve targeted treatment and control of echinococcosis,the accurate identification and discrimination of the species are important.However,currently the available diagnostic approaches do not present ideal results either in accuracy or efficiency.Methods:In the study,a set of primers were designed to aim at the three human-pathogenicEchinococcus species in China.The one-step multiplex PCR assay was developed and evaluated for the specificity and sensitivity.A total of 73parasitic lesions and 41 fecal materials obtained from human and various animals collected in the clinic and the field were tested to assess the applicability of this method.Results:The multiplex PCR effectively detected the individual DNA from the targeted species and their random mixtures generating with distinguishable expected size of products.The detection limit of the assay for each of the three species was 5 pg/μl when they were tested separately.When DNA mixtures of the targeted species containing the same concentration were used as templates,the lowest amount of DNA which can be detected was 50 pg/μl,10 pg/μl and 5 pg/μl forE.granulosus s.s.,E.multilocularis,andE.canadensis respectively.No cross-reactivity was observed when DNA from eight genetically close species was used as control templates.The multiplex PCR identifications of all samples were in line with the original sequencing results except for those infected withE.shiquicus,which showed negative signals in the developed assay.Of all the tested stool materials,16 were previously found positive forEchinococcus by visual and microscopic examination.Among these 16 samples,13 were confirmed by the multiplex PCR,and the other three tested negative.Additionally,the multiplex PCR identified another 14 positive feces from the remained 25 stool samples which absence of worms.Conclusions:The developed multiplex PCR shows advantages in fast diagnosis and large-scale epidemiological investigation,which proven to be a promising tool utilized in clinic and surveillance system.Jing-Ye Shang Guang-Jia Zhang Sha Liao Yan Huang Wen-Jie Yu Wei He Guang-You Yang Tiao-Ying Li Xing-Wang Chen Bo Zhong Qian Wang Qi Wang Rui-Rui Li Hao Wang 2019Infectious Diseases of Poverty2019,8,4:11

15A Facile Way to Large-scale Production of Few-layered Graphene via Planetary Ball Mill显示文摘In the field of polymer/graphene nanocomposites, massive production and commercial availability of graphene are essential. Exfoliation of graphite to obtain graphene is one of the most promising ways to large-scale production at extremely low cost. In this work we illustrate a facile strategy for mass production of few-layered(≤ 10) graphene(FLG) via the newly explored ball milling. The achieved FLG concentration was determined by UV/Vis spectroscopy. The formation of FLG was proved by measuring the flake thickness by atomic force microscopy(AFM). Further Raman spectral studies indicated that the crystal structure of exfoliated flakes was preserved satisfactorily during this shear-force dominating process. To increase the maximum concentration obtainable, it's critical to make a good parameter assessment. N-methylpyrrolidone(NMP) was used as a dispersing medium and the effect of milling parameters was systematically and quantitatively investigated, thus providing a criterion to optimize the milling process. We established the optimal values for solvent volume and initial weight of graphite. As for milling time, the production of FLG was enhanced with continuous milling according to the power law,but not linearly with increasing milling time. Moreover, the possible mechanism involved in milling process was also explored. 18Effect of replacing antibiotics using multi-enzyme preparations on production performance and antioxidant activity in piglets显示文摘The study was conducted to investigate the effects of replacing antibiotics using multi-enzyme preparations on growth performance,coefficient of total tract apparent digestibility,digestive enzyme activity,and antioxidant property in piglets.A total of 160 piglets((21.35±0.22)kg)were randomly assigned to five dietary treatments:1)basal diet supplemented with antibiotics(AC),2)antibiotic diet supplemented with 0.5 g kg^(–1) multi-enzyme preparations(AC+0.5EP),3)antibiotic diet supplemented with 1.5 g kg^(–1) multi-enzyme preparations(AC+1.5EP),4)basal diet supplemented with a half dosage of antibiotics and 1.5 g kg^(–1) multi-enzyme preparations(AH+1.5EP),and 5)basal diet supplemented with 1.5 g kg^(–1) multienzyme preparations(BC+1.5EP).The results showed that AC+1.5EP significantly improved the feed efficiency,apparent digestibility of ether extract(EE)and crude ash(CA),lipase activity in pancreas and duodenum content,maltase and lactase activity in jejunum and ileum mucosa,glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)concentration in serum and liver,and decreased malondialdehyde(MDA)concentration in serum and liver compared with piglets receiving AC(P<0.05).Piglets receiving BC+1.5EP showed no significant difference in growth performance(P>0.05)but had lower MDA concentration than piglets receiving AC(P<0.05).The apparent digestibility of EE and crude fiber(CF),duodenal lipase activity,jejunum mucosa maltase,and ileum mucosa lactase activity of piglets receiving AH+1.5EP or BC+1.5EP were significantly improved compared with piglets receiving AC(P<0.05).These results indicated an additive growth promotion effect between antibiotics and multi-enzyme preparations on piglets,and the multi-enzyme preparations may be used as substitutes for antibiotics for improving piglet production performance and health status.HAN Xin-yan YAN Feng-ying NIE Xin-zheng XIA Wei CHEN Sha ZHANG Xiao-xu QIAN Li-chun 2017Journal of Integrative Agriculture2017,16,3:9
19Effect of nanopore size on poly(dT)_(30) translocation through silicon nitride membrane显示文摘The nanopore size effect on translocation of poly(dT)30through Si3N4 membrane is investigated.In this paper,we report that the speed of the poly(dT)30 transport through Si3N4 nanopores can be slowed down by half through increasing the nanopore diameter from 4.8 nm to 10.8 nm.The results are consistent with our simulation results.Besides,the current blockage induced by DNA passing through the nanopore is less obvious as pore diameter is larger,which is in good agreement with the theoretical prediction.The conclusion about DNA transport through nanopores is beneficial for the design of DNA sequencing devices.SI Wei SHA JingJie LIU Lei QIU YingHua CHEN YunFei 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,10:9
20Effects of two polybrominated diphenyl ethers(BDE-47,BDE-209) on the swimming behavior, population growth and reproduction of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis显示文摘Polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs) are new kinds of persistent organic pollutants(POPs) and their potential threats to the equilibrium and sustainability of marine ecosystems have raised worldwide concerns. Here, two kinds of PBDEs, tetra-BDE(BDE-47)and deca-BDE(BDE-209) were applied, and their toxic effects on the swimming behavior,population growth and reproduction of Brachionus plicatilis were investigated. The results showed that:(1) The actual concentrations of BDE-47 and-209 in the seawater phase measured by GC–MS(Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer) were much lower than their nominal concentrations.(2) In accordance with the 24-hr acute tests, BDE-209 did not show any obvious swimming inhibition to rotifers, but a good correlation did exist between the swimming inhibition rate and BDE-47 concentration suggesting that BDE-47 is more toxic than BDE-209.(3) Both BDE-47 and-209 had a significant influence on the population growth and reproduction parameters of B. plicatilis including the population growth rate, the ratio of ovigerous females/non-ovigerous females(OF/NOF), the ratio of mictic females/amictic females(MF/AF), resting egg production and the mictic rate, which indicate that these parameters in B. plicatilis population were suitable for monitoring and assessing PBDEs. Our results suggest that BDE-47 and-209 are not acute lethal toxicants and may pose a low risk to marine rotifers at environmental concentrations for short-term exposure. They also accumulate differently into rotifers.
