Selected multiferroic perovskite oxides containing rare earth and transition metal elements显示文摘Multiferroic materials are currently the subject of intensive research worldwide, because of both their fundamental scientific problems and also possible technological applications. Among a number of candidates in the laboratories, compounds consisting of rare earth and transition metal perovskite oxides have very unusual structural and physical properties. In contrast to the so-called type I multiferroics, ferroelectricity may be induced by magnetic ordering or by applying external fields. In this review, the recent progress on the experimental and theoretical studies of some selected type II multiferroics is presented, with a focus on the perovskite oxides containing rare earth and transition metal elements. The rare earth orthoferrite crystals, rare earth titanate strained film, and rare earthbased superlattices are systematically reviewed to provide a broad overview on their promising electric, magnetic, and structural properties. The recent experimental advances in single-crystal growth by optical floating zone method are also presented. First-principles investigations, either supported by experimental results or awaiting for experimental verifications, are shown to offer useful guidance for the future applications of unconventional multiferroics. | Shunbo Hu Lei Chen Yabei Wu Liming Yu Xinluo Zhao Shixun Cao Jincang Zhang Wei Ren | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,36: | 2

Combined subsampling and analytical integration for efficient large-scale GW calculations for 2D systems显示文摘Accurate and efficient predictions of the quasiparticle properties of complex materials remain a major challenge due to the convergence issue and the unfavorable scaling of the computational cost with respect to the system size.Quasiparticle GW calculations for two-dimensional(2D)materials are especially difficult. The unusual analytical behaviors of the dielectric screening and the electron self-energy of 2D materials make the conventional Brillouin zone(BZ)integration approach rather inefficient and require an extremely dense k-grid to properly converge the calculated quasiparticle energies. In this work,we present a combined nonuniform subsampling and analytical integration method that can drastically improve the efficiency of the BZ integration in 2D GW calculations. | Weiyi Xia Weiwei Gao Gabriel Lopez-Candales Yabei Wu Wei Ren Wenqing Zhang Peihong Zhang | 2020 | npj Computational Materials2020,,1: | 1
Prediction of protected band edge states and dielectric tunable quasiparticle and excitonic properties of monolayer MoSi_(2)N_(4)显示文摘The electronic structure of two-dimensional(2D)materials are inherently prone to environmental perturbations, which may pose significant challenges to their applications in electronic or optoelectronic devices.A 2D material couples with its environment through two mechanisms:local chemical coupling and nonlocal dielectric screening effects. The local chemical coupling is often difficult to predict or control experimentally.Nonlocal dielectric screening,on the other hand, can be tuned by choosing the substrates or layer thickness in a controllable manner. Therefore,a compelling 2D electronic material should offer band edge states that are robust against local chemical coupling effects. Here it is demonstrated that the recently synthesized MoSi_(2)N_(4)is an ideal 2D semiconductor with robust band edge states protected from capricious environmental chemical coupling effects.Detailed many-body perturbation theory calculations are carried out to illustrate how the band edge states of MoSi_(2)N_(4)are shielded from the direct chemical coupling effects, but its quasiparticle and excitonic properties can be modulated through the nonlocal dielectric screening effects. This unique property, together with the moderate band gap and the thermodynamic and mechanical stability of this material, paves the way for a range of applications of MoSi_(2)N_(4)in areas including energy,2D electronics, and optoelectronics. | Yabei Wu Zhao Tang Weiyi Xia Weiwei Gao Fanhao Jia Yubo Zhang Wenguang Zhu Wenqing Zhang Peihong Zhang | 2022 | npj Computational Materials2022,,1: | 0
Coupling effect on the thermal hazard assessment of hazardous chemical materials via calorimetric technologies and simulation approaches显示文摘The coupling effect of heat absorption and release exists in the thermal decomposition of a few chemical materials. However, the impact of the above coupling on thermal hazard assessment is not considered in the literature studies. In this work, nitroguanidine(NQ)and 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine(RDX)are selected as representative materials to explore the influence of the coupling effect on the thermal hazard assessment of chemical materials. The linear heating experiments of NQ and RDX are carried out by a microcalorimeter and synchronous thermal analyser. The thermal decomposition curves are decoupled by advanced thermokinetics software. The thermal decomposition and kinetic parameters before and after decoupling are calculated. The results of TG experiment show that both NQ and RDX began to lose mass during the endothermic stage. The endothermic melting and exothermic decomposition of NQ and RDX are coupled within this stage. The coupling effect has different degrees of influence on its initial decomposition temperature and safety parameters.Compared with the parameters in the coupling state, the initial decomposition temperature and adiabatic induction period after decoupling decrease. The self-accelerating decomposition temperature increases, and internal thermal runaway time decreases. In the thermal hazard assessment of chemical materials with coupling effects, the calculated parameters after decoupling should be taken as an important safety index。 | Yabei Xu Jiankun Shao Wei Wang Shengliang Xu Dongping Chen | 2024 | Defence Technology(防务技术)2024,32,2: | 0
Graphene-Coated 1D MoTe_2 Nanorods as Anode for Enhancing Lithium-Ion Battery Performance显示文摘One-dimensional nanostructures(1D)with short ion diffusion distance and fast ion transport path are excellent for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs). However, the nature of layered transition metal dichalcogenides makes it difficult to form 1D nanohybrids. Here, the MoTe_(2) nanorods with an average diameter of 100-200 nm and length of 1-3 μm encapsulated by reduced graphene oxide(MoTe_(2)/rGO) have been fabricated via in-situ reaction of GO coated Mo_3O_(10)(C_(2)H_(10)N_(2)) nanowires with Te under Ar/H_(2) atmosphere. When applied as anode of LIBs, the Mo Te_(2)/r GO delivers a high reversible capacity(637 m A h g^(-1) after 100 cycles at 0.2 A g^(-1)), good rate capability(374 m A h g^(-1) at 2 A g^(-1)) and excellent stability(360 m A h g^(-1) after 200 cycles at 0.5 A g^(-1)), which surpasses bare Mo Te2 nanorods and bulk Mo Te2 crystallite. Furthermore, a lithium-ion full cell constructed by coupling Mo Te2/r GO anode and LiCoO_(2) cathode shows a capacity of 105 m A h g^(-1) at 0.1 C. The enhanced performance mainly benefits from the advantages of 1D nanostructure, and meanwhile the r GO thin layers are able to improve the conductivity and maintain the structural stability. This work provides a simple pathway for the synthesis of 1D TMDs nanostructures for energy storage and conversion. | Shuwei Chai Xiong Xiao Yabei Li Changhua An | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Structural Chemistry2022,41,8: | 0
Dynamics of Calcium Signal and Leukotriene C_(4) Release in Mast Cells Network Induced by Mechanical Stimuli and Modulated by Interstitial Fluid Flow显示文摘Mast cells(MCs)play an important role in the immune system.Through connective tissues, mechanical stimuli activate intracellular calcium signaling pathways, induce a variety of mediators including leukotriene C4(LTC4)release,and affect MCs’microenvironment. This paper focuses on MCs’intracellular calcium dynamics and LTC4 release responding to mechanical stimuli, explores signaling pathways in MCs and the effect of interstitial fluid flow on the transport of biological messengers and feedback in the MCs network. We use a mathematical model to show that(i)mechanical stimuli including shear stress induced by interstitial fluid flow can activate mechano-sensitive(MS)ion channels on MCs’membrane and allow Ca^(2+)entry,which increases intracellular Ca^(2+)concentration and leads to LTC4 release;(ii)LTC4 in the extracellular space(ECS)acts on surface cysteinyl leukotriene receptors(LTC4R)on adjacent cells, leading to Ca^(2+)influx through Ca^(2+)release-activated Ca^(2+)(CRAC)channels.An elevated intracellular Ca^(2+)concentration further stimulates LTC4 release and creates a positive feedback in the MCs network. The findings of this study may facilitate our understanding of the mechanotransduction process in MCs induced by mechanical stimuli, contribute to understanding of interstitial flow-related mechanobiology in MCs network, and provide a methodology for quantitatively analyzing physical treatment methods including acupuncture and massage in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). | Wei Yao Hongwei Yang Yabei Li Guanghong Ding | 2016 | Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2016,8,1: | 0
