1Meiofauna distributions at the oxygen minimum zone in Changjiang (Yangtze) River Estuary waters显示文摘A quantitative study on meiofauna was carried out along a transect throughout the Changjiang Estuary’s oxygen minimum zone (OMZ) in the East China Sea. There exist two distinct station groups in the OMZ: the fine-grained hypoxic area and the more fine-grained anoxic area. Meiofauna abundance ranged from (101.5±31.0) ind./cm2 (hypoxic area) to (369.9±123.9) ind./cm2 (anoxic area) along the transect. Free-living marine nematodes were the numerically dominant meiofauna at every station. The anoxic area differed significantly in meiofauna abundance and vertical distribution pattern from the hypoxic area. Within the anoxic area, nematodes abundance increased and amounted to over 90% of the total meiofauna; about 50% of nematodes were found in the 25 and 58 cm layers. At hypoxic stations, about over 85% were restricted to the top 2 cm. Benthic copepod abundance and dominance decreased consistently with the oxygen gradient. The pattern of meiofauna biomass was similar to that of abundance. The correlation analysis of the meiofauna numbers and environmental parameters indicated that abundance and biomass of total meiofauna and nematodes had significant or highly significant (P<0.05 or P<0.01) correlations with Chl a and Pha a, but no significant (P>0.05) correlations with bottom-water oxygen (BWO2). On the other hand, there was a highly significant positive correlation between benthic copepod abundance and bottom-water oxygen (P<0.05). The investigation on the nematode community structure indicated that two different nematode communities existed in hypoxic and anoxic areas. In certain way, the shift in nematode species composition distinguishes the anoxia to hypoxia. Nematode diversity was generally lower within the anoxic stations than the hypoxic ones, but the difference was not significant. 2Chimeric antigen receptor T cells in solid tumors: a war against the tumor microenvironment显示文摘Chimeric antigen receptor(CAR) T cell is a novel approach, which utilizes anti-tumor immunity for cancer treatment. As compared to the traditional cell-mediated immunity, CAR-T possesses the improved specificity of tumor antigens and independent cytotoxicity from major histocompatibility complex molecules through a monoclonal antibody in addition to the Tcell receptor. CAR-T cell has proven its effectiveness, primarily in hematological malignancies, specifically where the CD19 CAR-T cells were used to treat B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and B-cell lymphomas. Nevertheless, there is little progress in the treatment of solid tumors despite the fact that many CAR agents have been created to target tumor antigens such as CEA,EGFR/EGFRvIII, GD2, HER2, MSLN, MUC1, and other antigens. The main obstruction against the progress of research in solid tumors is the tumor microenvironment, in which several elements, such as poor locating ability, immunosuppressive cells,cytokines, chemokines, immunosuppressive checkpoints, inhibitory metabolic factors, tumor antigen loss, and antigen heterogeneity, could affect the potency of CAR-T cells. To overcome these hurdles, researchers have reconstructed the CAR-T cells in various ways. 3Designing Advanced Aqueous Zinc-Ion Batteries:Principles,Strategies,and Perspectives显示文摘Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)are an appealing battery system due to their low cost,intrinsic safety,and environmental-friendliness,while their application is plagued by the obstacles from the cathode,electrolyte,and zinc anode.Summarizing the design principles and strategies toward the optimization of cathode,electrolyte,and zinc anode is crucial for the development of AZIBs.Herein,we present a comprehensive analysis of the design principles and promising strategies toward the improvement of AZIBs.Firstly,the various reaction mechanisms are summarized and the existing issues associated with the cathode,electrolyte,and zinc anode are discussed to guide the rational design of AZIBs.Subsequently,we provide an in-depth and comprehensive discussion on the design principles and strategies for the electrodes/electrolyte/separator optimization,and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of various strategies.Importantly,the design principles and strategies of the newly appeared conversion-type AZIBs,such as Zn-S battery and Zn-Se battery,are also discussed and analyzed.The effect of design strategies on the electrochemical performance and the relationship between the current issues and strategies are also unveiled in detail.Finally,some research trends and perspectives are provided for designing better AZIBs.Yan Li Zhouhao Wang Yi Cai Mei Er Pam Yingkui Yang Daohong Zhang Ye Wang Shaozhuan Huang 2022Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,3:4
4A New Treatment of Depression for Drainage Network Extraction Based on DEM显示文摘Depressions in landscapes function as buffers for water and sediment. A landscape with depressions has less runoff,less erosion and more sedimentation than that without depressions. Sinks in digital elevation models (DEMs) can be considered the real features that represent depressions in actual landscapes or spurious features that result from errors in DEM creation. In many hydrological and erosion models,all sinks are considered as spurious features and,as a result,these models do not deal with the sinks that represent real depressions. Consequently,the surface runoff and erosion are overestimated due to removing the depressions. Aiming at this problem,this paper presents a new method,which deal with the sinks that represent real depressions. The drainage network is extracted without changing the original DEM. The method includes four steps:detecting pits,detecting depressions,merging depressions,and extracting drainage network. Because the elevations of grid cells are not changed,the method can also avoid producing new flat areas,which are always produced by the conventional filling methods. The proposed method was applied to the Xihanshui River basin,the upper reach of the Jialingjiang River basin,China,to automatically extract the drainage network based on DEM. 5The efficacy and safety of pramipexole ER versus IR in Chinese patients with Parkinson’s disease: a randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, parallel-group study显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the non-inferiority of pramipexole extended-release(ER)versus immediate-release(IR)in Chinese patients with Parkinson’s disease(PD)in a double-blind,randomized,parallel-group study.Methods:Subjects were Chinese patients with idiopathic PD with diagnosis≥2 years prior to trial,age≥30 years old at diagnosis,and Modified Hoehn and Yahr score 2-4 during‘on’-time.Subjects received treatment with pramipexole ER(n=234)or IR(n=239).Non-inferiority was based on the primary endpoint,the change from baseline to end of maintenance(week 18)in the UPDRS(Parts II+III)total score.Results:For the primary endpoint,the adjusted mean changes(standard error)of UPDRS Parts II+III at week 18 were−13.81(0.655)and−13.05(0.643)for ER and IR formulations,respectively,using ANCOVA adjusted for treatment and centre(fixed effect)and baseline(covariate).The adjusted mean between group difference was 0.8 for the 2-sided 95%CI(−1.047,2.566).Since the lower limit of the 2-sided 95%CI(−1.047)for treatment difference was higher than the non-inferiority margin of−4,non-inferiority between pramipexole ER and IR was demonstrated.The incidence of adverse events(AEs)was 68.8%in the ER arm and 73.6%in the IR arm with few severe AEs(ER:2.1%;IR:3.8%).Conclusion:Based on the UPDRS II+III score,pramipexole ER was non-inferior to pramipexole IR.The safety profiles of pramipexole ER and IR were similar.These results were based on comparable mean daily doses and durations of treatment for both formulations.Ying Wang Shenggang Sun Suiqiang Zhu Chunfeng Liu Yiming Liu Qing Di Huifang Shang Yan Ren Changhong Lu Mark Forrest Gordon Nolwenn Juhel Shengdi Chen for the Pramipexole ER Study Team 2014Translational Neurodegeneration2014,3,1:3

14Endoscopic diagnosis of early-stage primary esophageal small cell carcinoma: Report of two cases显示文摘BACKGROUND Primary esophageal small cell carcinoma(PESCC)is a highly aggressive malignancy,and its detailed clinical behaviors have remained virtually unknown.Because of the rapid tumor progression,the diagnosis of esophageal small cell carcinoma at early stage is extremely difficult in clinical practice.Currently,only a handful of PESCC cases have been reported.CASE SUMMARY Case 1:A 62-year-old man was diagnosed with an esophageal submucosal tumor by endoscopy.Endoscopic ultrasonography showed a 0.8 cm low echo nodule in the muscularis mucosa.As the patient refused to undergo endoscopic resection,neoplasia was detected by endoscopy 1 year later.Case 2:A 68-year-old woman was diagnosed as having an esophageal submucosal tumor by endoscopy at a local hospital.About 2 wk later,we performed endoscopic ultrasonography and found a 1 cm low echo nodule in the muscularis mucosa;the submucosal was thinner than normal but still continuous;mucosal hyperemia and erosion were found on the surface of the tumor.Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)was performed and the histopathological finding showed a small cell carcinoma invading the submucosal layer.CONCLUSION Early esophageal small cell carcinoma shows submucosal infiltrating growth with a hypoechoic mass in the muscularis mucosa as diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasonography.It is easily misdiagnosed as submucosal masses.Endoscopic manifestations should be identified and pathological biopsies should beemployed. 16The Effect of the Structure of Polychlorinated Biphenyls on their Hydroxylation, Oxidation,and Glutathionyl Conjugation Reactions显示文摘Objective To compare the nature of the metabolites formed from the phase I metabolism (hydroxylation and oxidation) and phase II metabolism (glutathionyl conjugation) of PCBs that have different chlorine substitution patterns. To discuss the structure-activity relationships and metabolic mechanisms of PCBs. Methods 4-Cl-biphenyl (PCB3), 4,4'-Cl-biphenyl (PCB15), 3,4,3',4'-Cl-biphenyl (PCB77) were used for in vitro metabolic study. LC/MS and UV-Vis studies were performed for metabolites identification. Results The cytochrome P-450 catalyzed hydroxylation rate decreased as the number of chlorine substitutions increased. In this reaction, PCB3 was fully metabolized, approximately half of the PCB15 was metabolized and PCB77 was not metabolized at all. The oxidation rate of PCB15-HQ was higher than that of PCB3-HQ under various oxidation conditions. The LC/MS and UV-Vis data suggest that in the conjugation reaction of PCB15-Q and GSH, the Michael addition reaction occurs preferentially over the displacement reaction. Conclusion The metabolic profiles of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are dramatically affected by chlorine substitution patterns.
