1Focusing on the meso-scales of multi-scale phenomena-In search for a new paradigm in chemical engineering显示文摘To celebrate the 90th birthday of Professor Mooson Kwauk,who supervised the multi-scale research at this Institute in the last three decades,we dedicate this paper outlining our thoughts on this subject accumulated from our previous studies.In the process of developing,improving and extending the energyminimization multi-scale(EMMS)method,we have gradually recognized that meso-scales are critical to the understanding of the different kinds of multi-scale structures and systems.It is a common challenge not only for chemical engineering but also for almost all disciplines of science and engineering,due to its importance in bridging micro-and macro-behaviors and in displaying complexity and diversity.It is believed that there may exist a common law behind meso-scales of different problems,possibly even in different fields.Therefore,a breakthrough in the understanding of meso-scales will help materialize a revolutionary progress,with respect to modeling,computation and application.Jinghai Li Wei Ge Wei Wang Ning Yang 2010Particuology2010,8,6:16

3Monitoring the charge-transfer process in a Nd-doped semiconductor based on photoluminescence and SERS technology显示文摘Surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)and photoluminescence(PL)are important photoexcitation spectroscopy techniques;however,understanding how to analyze and modulate the relationship between SERS and PL is rather important for enhancing SERS,having a great effect on practical applications.In this work,a charge-transfer(CT)mechanism is proposed to investigate the change and relationships between SERS and PL.Analyzing the change in PL and SERS before and after the adsorption of the probe molecules on Nd-doped ZnO indicates that the unique optical characteristics of Nd^(3+) ions increase the SERS signal.On the other hand,the observed SERS can be used to explain the cause of PL background reduction.This study demonstrates that modulating the interaction between the probe molecules and the substrate can not only enhance Raman scattering but also reduce the SERS background.Our work also provides a guideline for the investigation of CT as well as a new method for exploring fluorescence quenching.Shuo Yang Jiacheng Yao Yingnan Quan Mingyue Hu Rui Su Ming Gao Donglai Han Jinghai Yang 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:3

17Hierarchical porous carbon derived from coal-based carbon foam for high-performance supercapacitors显示文摘Hierarchical porous carbon(HPC)from bituminous coal was designed and synthesized through pyrolysis foaming and KOH activation.The obtained HPC(NCF-KOH)were characterized by a high specific surface area(S_(BET))of 3472.41 m^(2)/g,appropriate mesopores with V_(mes)/V_(total)of 57%,and a proper amount of surface oxygen content(10.03%).This NCF-KOH exhibited a high specific capacitance of 487 F/g at 1.0 A/g and a rate capability of 400 F/g at 50 A/g based on the three-electrode configuration.As an electrode for a symmetric capacitor,a specific capacitance of 299 F/g at 0.5 A/g was exhibited,and the specific capacitance retained 96%of the initial capacity at 5 A/g after 10,000 cycles.Furthermore,under the power density of 249.6 W/kg in 6 mol/L KOH,a high energy density of 10.34 Wh/kg was obtained.The excellent charge storage capability benefited from its interconnected hierarchical pore structure with high accessible surface area and the suitable amount of oxygen-containing functional groups.Thus,an effective strategy to synthesize HPC for high-performance supercapacitors serves as a promising way of converting coal into advanced carbon materials.Nuannuan Yang Lei Ji Haichao Fu Yanfeng Shen Meijun Wang Jinghai Liu Liping Chang Yongkang Lv 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,8:1

20Self-cleaning semiconductor heterojunction substrate: ultrasensitive detection and photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants for environmental remediation显示文摘Emerging technologies in the field of environmental remediation are becoming increasingly significant owing to the increasing demand for eliminating significant amounts of pollution in water,soil,and air.We designed and synthesized MoS 2/Fe 2 O 3 heterojunction nanocomposites(NCs)as multifunctional materials that are easily separated and reused.The trace detection performance of the prepared sample was examined using bisphenol A(BPA)as the probe molecule,with limits of detection as low as 10−9 M;this detection limit is the lowest among all reported semiconductor substrates.BPA was subjected to rapid photocatalytic degradation by MoS_(2)/Fe_(2)O_(3) NCs under ultraviolet irradiation.The highly recyclable MoS_(2)/Fe_(2)O_(3) NCs exhibited photo-Fenton catalytic activity for BPA and good detection ability when reused as a surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)substrate after catalysis.The SERS and photocatalysis mechanisms were proposed while considering the effects of the Z-scheme charge-transfer paths,three-dimensional flower-like structures,and dipole–dipole coupling.Moreover,the prepared MoS_(2)/Fe_(2)O_(3) NCs were successfully applied in the detection of BPA in real lake water and milk samples.Herein,we present insights into the development of MoS_(2)/Fe_(2)O_(3) materials,which can be used as multifunctional materials in chemical sensors and in photocatalytic wastewater treatments for the removal of recalcitrant organic pollutants.Mingyue Hu Yingnan Quan Shuo Yang Rui Su Huilian Liu Ming Gao Lei Chen Jinghai Yang 2020Microsystems & Nanoengineering2020,6,1:1
