| 1 | A BAC clone of MDV strain GX0101 with REV-LTR integration retained its pathogenicity显示文摘The complete genome of Marek's disease virus (MDV) strain GX0101, which was integrated with the LTR sequences of REV, was cloned in Escherichia coli as a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC). BAC vector sequences were introduced into the US2 locus of the MDV genome by homologous recombination. The viral DNA containing the BAC vector was used to transform Escherichia coli strain of DH10B. Then the recombinant virus was successfully rescued by transfection of the recombinant BAC DNA into primary chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF). This BAC viral clone was named bac-GX0101. When the reconstituted virus was inoculated into 1-day-old birds, visceral tumors could be detected as early as 62 d post infection. There was no difference in growth ability and pathogenicity to birds between the BAC derived virus and its parental virus. The BAC derived virus maintained its oncogenicity and immunosuppressive effects. In conclusion, the complete genome of GX0101 strain was successfully cloned into BAC and the infectious clone was rescued. | 4 | Current status of applying microwave-associated catalysis for the degradation of organics in aqueous phase – A review显示文摘Interactions between microwaves and certain catalysts can lead to efficient, energy-directed convergence of a relatively dispersed microwave field onto the reactive sites of the catalyst,which produces thermal or discharge effects around the catalyst. These interactions form'high-energy sites'(HeS) that promote energy efficient utilization and enhanced in situ degradation of organic pollutants. This article focuses on the processes occurring between microwaves and absorbing catalysts, and presents a critical review of microwave-absorbing mechanisms. This article also discusses aqueous phase applications of relevant catalysts(ironbased, carbon-based, soft magnetic, rare earth, and other types) and microwaves, special effects caused by the dimensions and structures of catalytic materials, and the optimization and design of relevant reactors for microwave-assisted catalysis of wastewater. | 7 | Clusterin in Alzheimer's disease: a player in the biological behavior of amyloid-beta显示文摘Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains a major killer, and although its pathogenesis varies, one dominant feature is an increase in the expression, formation, and sedimentation of senile plaques of amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptides in the brain. The chaperone protein clusterin has, since its first discovery at the end of the 20th century, been labeled as a cytoprotector. However, epigenetic studies showing that clusterin is associated with the severity and risk of AD, especially in the hippocampus, triggered studies to clarify its role in the pathogenesis of AD. It is true that clusterin can inhibit the aggregation of Aβ and therefore prevent further formation of senile plaques in the AD brain, yet it induces the formation of soluble forms of Aβ which are toxic to neurons. Another problematic finding is that clusterin is involved in a pathway through which Aβ has neurodegenerative effects intracellularly. | 11 | All five COVID-19 outbreaks during epidemic period of 2020/2021 in China were instigated by asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic individuals显示文摘Introduction:The significance of asymptomatic or pre-asymptomatic individuals in driving the COVID-19 epidemic in China or other countries remains uncertain.Method:We collected and analyzed all the epidemiologic and virological diagnostic details of the infected individuals released by public health authorities and reiterated every episode of outbreak on a timeline.All individuals associated with the five outbreaks had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection.Results:In this study,all five COVID-19 outbreaks reported in China since October 2020 were analyzed.The Kashgar outbreak in Xinjiang province came into light for the first time on October 22,2020.However,it was initiated before October 11,2020,by a local asymptomatic import and export worker,who was infected at the working place.Subsequently,his wife caught the infection,which led to 430 more infections reported in the outbreak.The Beijing outbreak with 41 cases was noticed for the first time on December 22,2020.However,our analysis revealed that it was initiated by an asymptomatic individual from Indonesia on December 10,2020.The Shenyang outbreak,with 38 cases,noticed for the first time on December 23,2020,was initiated by a pre-symptomatic individual from South Korea on December 13,2020.Conclusion:The asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic individuals during the asymptomatic period were unsuspectingly infected by SARS-CoV-2,and unintentionally transmitted the virus to a large number of people.These findings suggest that early detection of asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic individuals is of critical importance in preventing future outbreaks or epidemics. | Caixin Yang Sihui Zhang Shan Lu Jing Yang Yanpeng Cheng Yue Liu Lijun Zhao Jian Gong Jianguo Xu | 2021 | Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2021,3,1: | 1 |
| 12 | Tracing enterococci persistence along a pork production chain from feed to food in China显示文摘The prevalence and transmission of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus(VRE)in enterococci being as probiotics has been neglected in the scientific literature.The application of enterococci in feed,food and health products may cause VRE transmission through the food chain.This study evaluated phenotypic resistance of Enterococcus species to 20 antibiotics along a pork production chain from feed to food.It also assessed the genetic diversity of Enterococcus faecium isolates.A total of 510 samples(feed,n=70;swine manure,n=400;swine carcasses,n=20,and retail pork,n=20)were collected in Beijing,China.A total of 328 enterococci isolates with 275 E.faecium and 53 Enterococcus faecalis were identified using 16 S rRNA.Antimicrobial susceptibility to all enterococci isolates was conducted using the KeB method for 20 antibiotics from 9 categories.Multilocus sequence typing(MLST)was conducted on the E.faecium isolates to survey the dissemination of enterococci in the pig industry.The results showed that only 26 enterococci isolates were sensitive to the 20 antibiotics,while half of the isolates(164/328)had acquired multi-drug resistance.The resistant rate to furazolidone was 68.60%,followed by 42.99%to tetracycline.One vancomycin-resistant E.faecium isolates were isolated from feed origin and 2 from manure origin,with minimum inhibitory concentrations to vancomycin of 1,024,64,and 64 mg/mL,respectively.The MLST outcomes showed that the 275 E.faecium isolates belonged to 11 sequence types(ST)including ST40,ST60,ST94,ST160,ST178,ST296,ST361,ST695,ST726,ST812 and ST1014.The ST of the feedsourced VRE was ST1014,while the 2 manure-sourced VRE was ST69.ST1014 evolved from ST78,which was the dominant clonal complex in most cities of China,leading to the spreading of VRE.These findings revealed the potential safety hazards of commercial probiotic enterococci in China and showed that there is a risk of the VRE horizontally transferring from feed to food. | Jianfei Zhao Rui Liu Yanpeng Sun Xiaojun Yang Junhu Yao | 2022 | Animal Nutrition2022,,2: | 1 |

| 20 | Velocity structure in the South Yellow Sea basin based on first-arrival tomography of wide-angle seismic data and its geological implications显示文摘The South Yellow Sea basin is filled with Mesozoic-Cenozoic continental sediments overlying pre-Palaeozoic and Mesozoic-Palaeozoic marine sediments.Conventional multi-channel seismic data cannot describe the velocity structure of the marine residual basin in detail,leading to the lack of a deeper understanding of the distribution and lithology owing to strong energy shielding on the top interface of marine sediments.In this study,we present seismic tomography data from ocean bottom seismographs that describe the NEE-trending velocity distributions of the basin.The results indicate that strong velocity variations occur at shallow crustal levels.Horizontal velocity bodies show good correlation with surface geological features,and multi-layer features exist in the vertical velocity framework(depth:0–10 km).The analyses of the velocity model,gravity data,magnetic data,multichannel seismic profiles,and drilling data showed that high-velocity anomalies(>6.5 km/s)of small(thickness:1–2 km)and large(thickness:>5 km)scales were caused by igneous complexes in the multi-layer structure,which were active during the Palaeogene.Possible locations of good Mesozoic and Palaeozoic marine strata are limited to the Central Uplift and the western part of the Northern Depression along the wide-angle ocean bottom seismograph array.Following the Indosinian movement,a strong compression existed in the Northern Depression during the extensional phase that caused the formation of folds in the middle of the survey line.This study is useful for reconstructing the regional tectonic evolution and delineating the distribution of the marine residual basin in the South Yellow Sea basin. | Weina Zhao Zhiqiang Wu Fanghui Hou Xunhua Zhang Tianyao Hao Hanjoon Kim Yanpeng Zheng Shanshan Chen Huigang Wang | 2023 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,2: | 1 |
