2Band alignment and polarization engineering inκ-Ga_(2)O_(3)/GaN ferroelectric heterojunction显示文摘Ferroelectric-semiconductor heterostructures offer an alternative strategy to manipulate polarization towards advanced devices with engineered functionality and improved performance.In this work,we report on the heteroepitaxial construction,band structure alignment and polarization engineering of the single-phasedκ-Ga_(2)O_(3)/GaN ferroelectric/polar heterojunction.A type-II band alignment is determined at theκ-Ga_(2)O_(3)/GaN polar hetero-interface,with a valence band offset of(1.74±0.1)eV and a conduction band offset of(0.29■0.1)eV.Besides the band edge discontinuity,charge dipoles induced by spontaneous polarization lead to the observed band bending with built-in potentials of 0.9 and 0.33 eV,respectively,at theκ-Ga_(2)O_(3)surface andκ-Ga_(2)O_(3)/GaN interface.The polarization switching properties of ferroelectricκ-Ga_(2)O_(3)are identified with a remanent polarization of approximately 2.7μC/cm^(2)via the direct hysteresis remanent polarization/voltage(P-V)loop measurement.These findings allow the rational design ofκ-Ga_(2)O_(3)ferroelectric/polar heterojunction for the application of power electronic devices,advanced memories and even ultra-low loss negative capacitance transistors.Yanting Chen Hongkai Ning Yue Kuang Xing-Xing Yu He-He Gong Xuanhu Chen Fang-Fang Ren Shulin Gu Rong Zhang Youdou Zheng Xinran Wang Jiandong Ye 2022Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2022,65,7:1
3The mechanisms of nucleotide actions in insulin resistance显示文摘Insulin resistance contributes to metabolic disorders in obesity and type 2 diabetes.In mechanisms of insulin resistance,the roles of glucose,fatty acids,and amino acids have been extensively documented in literature.However,the activities of nucleotides remain to be reviewed comprehensively in the regulation of insulin sensitivity.Nucleotides are well known for their activities in biosynthesis of DNA and RNA as well as their signaling activities in the form of c AMP and c GAMP.Their activities in insulin resistance are dependent on the derivatives and corresponding receptors.ATP and NADH,derivatives of adenosine,inhibit insulin signaling inside cells by downregulation of activities of AMPK and SIRT1,respectively.ATP,ADP and AMP,the well-known energy carriers,regulate cellular responses to insulin outside cells through the purinergic receptors in cell surface.Current evidence suggests that ATP,NADH,c GAMP,and uridine are potential biomarkers of insulin resistance.However,GTP and c GMP are likely the markers of insulin sensitization.Here,studies crossing the biomedical fields are reviewed to characterize nucleotide activities in the regulation of insulin sensitivity.The knowledge brings new insights into the mechanisms of insulin resistance.Kunpeng Liu Xiaogao Jin Xiaoying Zhang Hongkai Lian Jianping Ye 2022Journal of Genetics and Genomics2022,49,4:1
4Investigation of the block toppling evolution of a layered model slope by centrifuge test and discrete element modeling显示文摘Primary toppling usually occurs in layered rock slopes with large anti-dip angles.In this paper,the block toppling evolution was explored using a large-scale centrifuge system.Each block column in the layered model slope was made of cement mortar.Some artificial cracks perpendicular to the block column were prefabricated.Strain gages,displacement gages,and high-speed camera measurements were employed to monitor the deformation and failure processes of the model slope.The centrifuge test results show that the block toppling evolution can be divided into seven stages,i.e.layer compression,formation of major tensile crack,reverse bending of the block column,closure of major tensile crack,strong bending of the block column,formation of failure zone,and complete failure.Block toppling is characterized by sudden large deformation and occurs in stages.The wedge-shaped cracks in the model incline towards the slope.Experimental observations show that block toppling is mainly caused by bending failure rather than by shear failure.The tensile strength also plays a key factor in the evolution of block toppling.The simulation results from discrete element method(DEM)is in line with the testing results.Tensile stress exists at the backside of rock column during toppling deformation.Stress concentration results in the fragmented rock column and its degree is the most significant at the slope toe.Leilei Jin Hongkai Dong Fei Ye Yufeng Wei Jianfeng Liu Changkui Wang 2024Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2024,16,1:0

6Sodium butyrate activates HMGCS2 to promote ketone body production through SIRT5-mediated desuccinylation显示文摘Ketone bodies have beneficial metabolic activities,and the induction of plasma ketone bodies is a health promotion strategy.Dietary supplementation of sodium butyrate(SB)is an effective approach in the induction of plasma ketone bodies.However,the cellular and molecular mechanisms are unknown.In this study,SB was found to enhance the catalytic activity of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase 2(HMGCS2),a rate-limiting enzyme in ketogenesis,to promote ketone body production in hepatocytes.SB administrated by gavage or intraperitoneal injection significantly induced bloodβ-hydroxybutyrate(BHB)in mice.BHB production was induced in the primary hepatocytes by SB.Protein succinylation was altered by SB in the liver tissues with down-regulation in 58 proteins and up-regulation in 26 proteins in the proteomics analysis.However,the alteration was mostly observed in mitochondrial proteins with 41%down-and 65%up-regulation,respectively.Succinylation status of HMGCS2 protein was altered by a reduction at two sites(K221 and K358)without a change in the protein level.The SB effect was significantly reduced by a SIRT5 inhibitor and in Sirt5-KO mice.The data suggests that SB activated HMGCS2 through SIRT5-mediated desuccinylation for ketone body production by the liver.The effect was not associated with an elevation in NAD+/NADH ratio according to our metabolomics analysis.The data provide a novel molecular mechanism for SB activity in the induction of ketone body production.Yanhong Xu Xiaotong Ye Yang Zhou Xinyu Cao Shiqiao Peng Yue Peng Xiaoying Zhang Yili Sun Haowen Jiang Wenying Huang Hongkai Lian Jiajun Yang Jia Li Jianping Ye 2023Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,2:0
