1A novel PdNi/Al_2O_3 catalyst prepared by galvanic deposition for low temperature methane combustion显示文摘Galvanic deposition method was used to prepare the Pd/Ni-Al2O3-GD catalyst for the combustion of methane under lean conditions. The new catalyst and compared catalysts (Pd/Al2O3-IW, Pd-Ni/Al2O3-IW, Pd/Ni-Al2O3-IW) prepared by incipient wetness impregnation were characterized by N2-physisorption, XRD and TEM to clarify particle size and size distribution of palladium species. Combined O2-TPD and XPS results with the catalytic data, it shows that the surface palladium species with low valence exhibits better combustion performance due to their stronger interaction with support. 3Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas Exhibit Cell Biological and Molecular Signatures of Fetal Hindbrain-Derived Neural Progenitor Cells显示文摘Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma(DIPG) is the main cause of brain tumor-related death among children.Until now, there is still a lack of effective therapy with prolonged overall survival for this disease. A typical strategy for preclinical cancer research is to find out the molecular differences between tumor tissue and para-tumor normal tissue, in order to identify potential therapeutic targets. Unfortunately, it is impossible to obtain normal tissue for DIPG because of the vital functions of the pons.Here we report the human fetal hindbrain-derived neural progenitor cells(pontine progenitor cells, PPCs) as normal control cells for DIPG. The PPCs not only harbored similar cell biological and molecular signatures as DIPG glioma stem cells, but also had the potential to be immortalized by the DIPG-specific mutation H3 K27 M in vitro. 5All-nanofiber self-powered PTFE/PA66 device for real-time breathing monitor by scalable solution blow spinning technology显示文摘All-nanofiber self-powered device was fabricated using simple,low-cost,safe,and scalable solution blow spinning(SBS)technology for real-time respiratory monitor and timely identification of respiratory obstruction clinically.Polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)and polyamide-66(PA66)nanofibers were selected as triboelectric pairs,owing to strong ability to gain electrons of PTFE and supply electrons of PA66.Poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)was added to regulate spinning solution viscosity and prepare PTFE/PEO nanofibers,and the morphology and diameter distribution of nanofibers were discussed.PTFE nanofiber film was obtained after the decomposition of PEO in PTFE/PEO nanofiber and melt flow of PTFE pellets in a limited region,and possessed a tensile strength of 1.05 MPa and elongation at a break of 288.58%.Later,PTFE/PA66 all-nanofiber self-powered device was constructed containing PA66 nanofibers,and Au deposition film was used as electrodes by magnetron sputtering.The as-obtained device showed robust electrical performance with an open circuit voltage of~110 V at a loading force of 10 N,a short-circuit current of~5 uA at a loading force of 10 N and a frequency of 4 Hz,a maximum power density of 562 mW·m^(–2),and a current of 3.1 uA at a loading resistance of 30 MΩ.Based on the triboelectric mechanism,the device possessed stable response and effective sensibility for stimuli,was used to monitor human breathing conditions,prevent suffocation,and distinguish slow,normal,and fast breathing,with an output voltage of~0.08 V perceived in one normal respiratory circle.Pan Li Yibo Liu Han Zhang Zhiping Hu Luna Jia Dongkui Liu Lu Yu Bo Li Youwei Yao 2022Nano Research2022,15,9:1

7Dual-band multifunctional coding metasurface with a mingled anisotropic aperture for polarized manipulation in full space显示文摘Integrated metasurfaces with diversified functionalities have demonstrated promising prospects for comprehensive implementations in compact 5G/6G communication systems by flexibly manipulating electromagnetic(EM)waves. Increasingly emerged multifunctional metasurfaces have successfully revealed integrated wavefront manipulations via phase gradient arrays, coding apertures, independent polarization control, asymmetric transmission/reflection, etc. However, multifunctional metasurfaces with more degrees of freedom in terms of multi-band/broadband operation frequencies, full-space coverage, and computable array factors are still in dire demand.As a step forward in extending manipulation dimensions, we propose and corroborate a dual-band multifunctional coding metasurface for anomalous reflection, radar cross-section reduction, and vortex beam generation through full-wave analysis and experiment. Our tri-layer meta-device comprises a shared coding aperture of splitring and cross-shaped resonators sandwiched between two layers of orthogonal wire gratings. With an approach of independent control of a reflection–transmission wavefront under orthogonal polarization states and Fabry–Perot-like constructive interference, the low-cross-talk shared coding aperture features a smooth phase shift and high efficiency for 3-bit coding in the K-band and 1-bit coding in the Ka-band. 8Comparisons of Metabolic Profiles for Carbohydrates,Amino Acids,Lipids,Fragrance and Flavones During Grain Development in indica Rice Cultivars显示文摘We used a widely targeted metabolomics approach to examine the metabolic changes in three pedigreed indica cultivars(Meixiangzhan 2,Meisizhan and Qixinzhan),with different eating qualities,at 8,15 and 30 d after flowering(DAF)to explore the formation mechanism of rice eating and nutritional qualities at a global metabolic level.A total of 623 metabolites were identified,and results showed that metabolic variations among rice cultivars decreased with grain developmental stage,suggesting that sufficient carbohydrate and amino acid supply during grain development may contribute to excellent rice eating and nutritional quality formation.Lysophosphatidylcholines 19:0 and 16:1 were beneficial for excellent eating quality formation during grain development.Rice fragrance was attributed mainly to spermidine andγ-aminobutyric acid.Rice cultivars with excellent eating quality at 15-30 DAF had relatively higher flavone content,possibly because they had adequate carbohydrate and amino acid contents during grain development.These results provided insight into the mechanisms for establishing rice eating and nutritional qualities during grain formation at a global metabolic level,and can be applied towards improving rice quality.CHEN Yibo WANG Zhidong WANG Chongrong LI Hong HUANG Daoqiang ZHOU Degui ZHAO Lei PAN Yangyang GONG Rong ZHOU Shaochuan 2022Rice science2022,29,2:0
9Numerical study on waste polyethylene pyrolysis driven by self-sustaining smoldering显示文摘Polyethylene is the type of waste plastic that accounts for the most significant proportion of municipal solid waste.Waste polyethylene can be valorized via pyrolysis and produce value-added oil,gas,and char.On the other hand,self-sustaining smoldering is an emerging technical means to deal with sand/soil contaminated by organic matter.The high-temperature heat generated by smoldering can be used as a heat source for pyrolyzing waste polyethylene.Therefore,this study investigates numerically the pyrolysis of waste polyethylene driven by self-sustaining smoldering.A novel 4-step lumped kinetic model is proposed for simulating the pyrolysis of waste polyethylene.The results indicate that the operating parameters can determine the pyrolysis product yields by regulating the pyrolysis temperature and the volatile residence time.Note that higher temperatures and longer residence times favor the generation of shorter-chain pyrolysis products because of the intensified volatiles’secondary cracking.It can be concluded that a high interface-wall heat transfer coefficient(400 W m^(-2)K^(-1)),a low PE content(0.20),a high char concentration(2.4%),and a moderate air velocity(0.040 m s^(-1))are beneficial to oil yield.To some extent,this study may broaden the boundaries for the application of self-sustained smoldering-driven pyrolysis.PAN RuMing WU YiBo GUENE LOUGOU Bachirou SHUAI Yong DEBENEST Gérald 2024Science China(Technological Sciences)2024,67,2:0
10Analysis of optical coupling behavior in twodimensional implant-defined coherently coupled vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser arrays显示文摘Optical coupling behavior and associated effects in two-dimensional implant-defined coherently coupled verticalcavity surface-emitting laser(VCSEL) arrays are studied via both experiments and theoretical calculations.Experiments show that optical coupling between array elements can enhance the array's output power.Additionally, optical coupling via leaky optical fields can provide extra optical gain for the array elements, which can then reduce the thresholds of these elements. Elements can even be pumped without current injection to emit light by receiving a strong leaky optical field from other array elements. Optical coupling can also cause unusual phenomena: the central elements in large-area coherently coupled VCSEL arrays that lase prior to the outer elements when the arrays are biased, or the average injection current required for each element to lase, which is much lower than the threshold for a single VCSEL. 13Altered gut microbiome in FUT2 loss-of-function mutants in support of personalized medicine for inflammatory bowel diseases显示文摘The FUT2 loss-of-function mutations are highly prevalent and are associated with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).To investigate the impact of FUT2 loss-of-function mutation on the gut microbiota in patients with IBD,81 endoscopically confirmed IBD patients were genotyped and divided into 3 groups:homozygous for functional FUT2 genes(SeSe),with one copy of non-functional FUT2 gene(Sese),or homozygous for non-functional FUT2 genes(sese).Escherichia,which attaches to fucosylated glycoconjugates,was the only abundant genus exhibiting decreased abundance in sese patients.Compared with SeSe or Sese patients,sese patients exhibited higher abundance in CD8+inducing Alistipe and Phascolarctobacterium and Th17 inducing Erysipelotrichaceae UCG-003.Counter-intuitively,butyrate-producing bacteria were more abundant in sese patients.Consistently,metabolomics analysis found higher levels of butyrate in sese patients.Our data support the hypothesis that FUT2 loss-of-function mutation participates in the IBD pathogenesis by decreasing binding sites for adherent bacteria and thus altering the gut microbiota.Decreased abundances of adherent bacteria may allow the overgrowth of bacteria that induce inflammatory T cells,leading to intestinal inflammation.As FUT2 loss-of-function mutations are highly prevalent,the identification of T cell inducing bacteria in sese patients could be valuable for the development of personalized microbial intervention for IBD.Sijing Cheng Jun Hu Xianrui Wu Ji-An Pan Na Jiao Yichen Li Yibo Huang Xutao Lin Yifeng Zou Yuan Chen Lixin Zhu Min Zhi Ping Lan 2021Journal of Genetics and Genomics2021,48,9:0
14Drug repurposing screen identifies vidofludimus calcium and pyrazofurin as novel chemical entities for the development of hepatitis E interventions显示文摘Hepatitis E virus(HEV)infection can cause severe complications and high mortality,particularly in pregnant women,organ transplant recipients,individuals with pre-existing liver disease and immunosuppressed patients.However,there are still unmet needs for treating chronic HEV infections.Herein,we screened a best-in-class drug repurposing library consisting of 262 drugs/compounds.Upon screening,we identified vidofludimus calcium and pyrazofurin as novel anti-HEV entities.Vidofludimus calcium is the next-generation dihydroorotate dehydrogenase(DHODH)inhibitor in the phase 3 pipeline to treat autoimmune diseases or SARS-CoV-2 infection.Pyrazofurin selectively targets uridine monophosphate synthetase(UMPS).Their anti-HEV effects were further investigated in a range of cell culture models and human liver organoids models with wild type HEV strains and ribavirin treatment failure-associated HEV strains.Encouragingly,both drugs exhibited a sizeable therapeutic window against HEV.For instance,the IC50 value of vidofludimus calcium is 4.6–7.6-fold lower than the current therapeutic doses in patients.Mechanistically,their anti-HEV mode of action depends on the blockage of pyrimidine synthesis.Notably,two drugs robustly inhibited ribavirin treatment failure-associated HEV mutants(Y1320H,G1634R).Their combination with IFN-αresulted in synergistic antiviral activity.In conclusion,we identified vidofludimus calcium and pyrazofurin as potent candidates for the treatment of HEV infections.Based on their antiviral potency,and also the favorable safety profile identified in clinical studies,our study supports the initiation of clinical studies to repurpose these drugs for treating chronic hepatitis E.Hongbo Guo Dan Liu Kuan Liu Yao Hou Chunyang Li Qiudi Li Xiaohui Ding Monique M.A.Verstegen Jikai Zhang Lingli Wang Yibo Ding Renxian Tang Xiucheng Pan Kuiyang Zheng Luc J.Wvan der Laan Qiuwei Pan Wenshi Wang 2024Virologica Sinica2024,39,1:0
