Electroacupuncture at Tianshu (ST 25) for diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome using positron emission tomography Changes in visceral sensation center显示文摘Previous studies have demonstrated that electroacupuncture therapy is effective in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. However, the precise mechanism of this therapy is unknown. The present study served to investigate the effects of electroacupuncture therapy on treatment of patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We compared brain activation maps based on the changes of cerebral glucose metabolism obtained by 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography scanning under three conditions: resting, rectal balloon distension and rectal balloon distension plus electroacupuncture. Under the resting condition, compared with healthy controls, IBS patients displayed an increasing regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose over a wide range: bilateral superior temporal gyrus, right middle occipital gyrus, superior frontal gyrus and bilateral middle frontal gyrus. However, there was no significant activity in the visceral pain center. Compared with the resting condition, under the rectal balloon distension condition, patients with IBS had a greater regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose in the prefrontal cortex, left anterior cingulate cortex, postcentral gyrus, precentral gyrus and temporal gyrus. Under the rectal balloon distension plus electroacupuncture condition, stimulation by electroacupuncture at Tianshu (ST 25) manifested a decreased regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose in the left cingulate gyrus, right insula, right caudate nucleus, fusiform gyrus and hippocampal gyrus. Electroacupuncture therapy relieved abdominal pain, distension or discomfort by decreasing glucose metabolism in the brain.Huirong Liu Li Qi Xiaolong Wang Yihui Guan Chuantao Zuo Linying Tan Lingsong Yuan Xiaopeng Ma Xiaomei Wang Enhua Zhou Huangan Wu 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,16:6
Non-FDG PET imaging of brain tumors显示文摘Due to relatively high uptake of glucose in the brain cortex, the use of FDG PET imaging is greatly limited in brain tumor imaging, especially for low-grade gliomas and some metastatic tumours. More and more tracers with higher specificity were developed lately for brain tumor imaging. There are 3 main types of non-FDG PET tracers: amino acid tracers, choline tracers and nucleic acid tracers. These tracers are now widely applied in many aspects of brain tumor imaging. This article summarized the general use of non-FDG PET in different aspects of brain tumor imaging.HUANG Zemin GUAN Yihui ZUO Chuantao ZHANG Zhengwei XUE Fangping LIN Xiangtong 2007Nuclear Science and Techniques2007,18,3:1
Positive sputum culture of Candida spp.as a risk factor for 30-day mortality in patients with hospital-acquired pneumonia:A propensity-score matched retrospective clinical study显示文摘Background:Candida species(Candida spp.)are commonly isolated microorganisms from lower respiratory tract(LRT)specimens of patients with hospital-acquired pneumonia(HAP);however, the clinical significance remains controversial. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between Candida spp.in the LRT and the clinical features and prognosis of HAP.Methods:This retrospective analysis included eligible patients with HAP from the database of a prospective study carried out between 2018 and 2019 in nine Chinese hospitals.Data on demographics, clinical characteristics, and prognosis were collected and analyzed.Propensity score matching(PSM)was used to balance the baseline characteristics. Results:A total of 187 HAP patients were enrolled. After PSM of severity score,27 cases with positive sputum culture of Candida spp.were compared with the control group at a ratio of 1:1.The Candida-positive group had more bacterial isolates in blood culture than the Candida-negative group(39.1%[9/23]vs.7.7%[2/26],χ^(2)=6.928,effect size[ES]=0.38,95%CI:0.12-0.61,P=0.008).The proportion of patients with chronic lung diseases was significantly higher in the Candida-positive group(55.6%[15/27]vs.22.2%[6/27],χ^(2)=6.312,ES=0.34,95%CI:0.07-0.59,P=0.012).The 30-day prognosis of HAP was significantly different between the two groups(80.8%[21/26]vs.38.5%[10/26],χ^(2)=9.665,ES=0.43,95%CI:0.19-0.66,P=0.002).Univariable logistic regression analysis showed that LRT Candida spp.colonization was a risk factor for 30-day mortality of HAP(OR=6.720,95%CI:1.915-23.577,P=0.003).Conclusions:Candida spp.in the LRT was associated with 30-day mortality of HAP.Patients with chronic under-lying lung diseases tend to have Candida spp.colonization.Yaopin Han Yihui Zuo Zhe Luo Minjie Ju Jianlan Hua Binfeng He Yixing Wu Jing Zhang 2023Chinese Medical Journal Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine2023,1,2:0
International Nuclear Medicine Consensus on the Clinical Use of Amyloid Positron Emission Tomography in Alzheimer’s Disease显示文摘Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is the main cause of dementia, with its diagnosis and management remaining challenging.Amyloid positron emission tomography(PET)has become increasingly important in medical practice for patients with AD.To integrate and update previous guidelines in the field,a task group of experts of several disciplines from multiple countries was assembled, and they revised and approved the content related to the application of amyloid PET in the medical settings of cognitively impaired individuals, focusing on clinical scenarios, patient preparation, administered activities,as well as image acquisition, processing, interpretation and reporting. In addition, expert opinions, practices, and protocols of prominent research institutions performing research on amyloid PET of dementia are integrated. With the increasing availability of amyloid PET imaging,a complete and standard pipeline for the entire examination process is essential for clinical practice. This international consensus and practice guideline will help to promote proper clinical use of amyloid PET imaging in patients with AD.Mei Tian Chuantao Zuo Ali Cahid Civelek Ignasi Carrio Yasuyoshi Watanabe Keon Wook Kang Koji Murakami Valentina Garibotto John OPrior Henryk Barthel Yihui Guan Jiaying Lu Rui Zhou Chentao Jin Shuang Wu Xiaohui Zhang Yan Zhong Hong Zhang Molecular Imaging-Based Precision Medicine Task Group of A3(China-Japan-Korea)Foresight Program 2023Phenomics2023,3,4:0
Modeling methane dynamics in three wetlands in Northeastern China by using the CLM-Microbe model显示文摘Wetlands account for up to 70%of the natural source of methane(CH_(4))in terrestrial ecosystems on a global scale.Soil microbes are the ultimate producers and biological consumers of CH_(4)in wetlands. Therefore, simulating microbial mechanisms of CH_(4)production and consumptionwould improve the predictability of CH_(4)flux in wetland ecosystems. In this study,we applied a microbial-explicit model, the CLM-Microbe,to simulate CH_(4)flux in three major natural wetlands in northeastern China. The CLM-Microbe model was able to capture the seasonal variation of gross primary productivity(GPP),dissolved organic carbon(DOC),and CH_(4)flux.The CLM-Microbe model explained more than 40%of the variation in GPP and CH_(4)flux across sites.Marsh wetlands had higher CH_(4)flux than mountain peatlands.Ebullition dominated the CH_(4)transport pathway in all three wetlands. The methanogenesis dominates while methanotroph makes a minor contribution to the CH_(4)flux,making all wetlands a CH_(4)source.Sensitivity analysis indicated that microbial growth and death rates are the key factors governing CH_(4)emission and vegetation physiological properties(flnr)and maintenance respiration predominate GPP variation.Explicitly simulating microbial processes allows genomic information to be incorporated, laying a foundation for better predicting CH_(4)dynamics under the changing environment.Yunjiang Zuo Yihui Wang Liyuan He Nannan Wang Jianzhao Liu Fenghui Yuan Kexin Li Ziyu Guo Ying Sun Xinhao Zhu Lihua Zhang Changchun Song Li Sun Xiaofeng Xu 2022Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2022,8,1:0
