| 1 | Reconstruction of May——July precipitation in the north Helan Mountain, Inner Mongolia since A.D. 1726 from tree-ring late-wood widths显示文摘By analyzing statistical characteristics of five tree-ring standard chronologies, early-wood ring width (EWW), late-wood ring width (LWW), total ring width (TRW), minimum early-wood density (MinD), maximum late-wood density (MaxD) and, their climatic response re-spectively, we reconstructed the May to July precipitation using late-wood ring width (LWW) over the north Helan Mountain since A.D. 1726. The explained variance is 42% (R2adj = 41%, F = 31.46, p < 0.000001). After 11-a moving average, the explained variance reaches 82% (F = 156.9, p < 0.05). On the decadal scale, the rainfall reconstruction of the northern Helan Mountain displays a quite similar variation pattern with that of the April to early July precipitation in Baiyinaobao, east of Inner Mongolia for the last 150 years. It may reflect the intensity variation of the East Asia Summer Monsoon front to a certain extent. | 2 | Divergence of tree-ring-based drought reconstruction between the individual sampling site and the Monsoon Asia Drought Atlas: an example from Guancen Mountain显示文摘To evaluate the applicability of the Standardized Precipitation-Evapotranspiration Index(SPEI) and the self-calibrated Palmer Drought Severity Index(sc PDSI) to paleoclimate reconstructions in the east Asian summer monsoon region, we used a 194-year tree-ring width chronology from Guancen Mountain, Shanxi Province,China, to investigate its correlation with SPEI and sc PDSI,respectively. The results indicated sc PDSI as a robust drought index that could be reconstructed from tree-ring width on Guancen Mountain. Significant correlations with other hydroclimate-related series illustrated that our reconstruction captured common variations of hydroclimate in the surrounding areas. Additionally, our reconstructionshowed significant correlation with nearby grid points of the Monsoon Asia Drought Atlas(MADA). However,while unprecedented drying trend existed during the past several decades in MADA, it was not represented in our reconstruction or in instrumental sc PDSI/Dai-PDSI. This may imply that MADA overestimated drought severity during the past several decades in our study area; this overestimation was probably caused by an insufficient spatiotemporal distribution of the tree-ring network used by MADA. | 7 | Characteristics of sea ice kinematics from the marginal ice zone to the packed ice zone observed by buoys deployed during the 9th Chinese Arctic Expedition显示文摘Sea ice growth and consolidation play a significant role in heat and momentum exchange between the atmosphere and the ocean.However,few in situ observations of sea ice kinematics have been reported owing to difficulties of deployment of buoys in the marginal ice zone(MIZ).To investigate the characteristics of sea ice kinematics from MIZ to packed ice zone(PIZ),eight drifting buoys designed by Taiyuan University of Technology were deployed in the open water at the ice edge of the Canadian Basin.Sea ice near the buoy constantly increased as the buoy drifted,and the kinematics of the buoy changed as the buoy was frozen into the ice.This process can be determined using sea ice concentration,sea skin temperature,and drift speed of buoy together.Sea ice concentration data showed that buoys entered the PIZ in mid-October as the ice grew and consolidated around the buoys,with high amplitude,high frequency buoy motions almost ceasing.Our results confirmed that good correlation coefficient in monthly scale between buoy drift and the wind only happened in the ice zone.The correlation coefficient between buoys and wind was below 0.3 while the buoys were in open water.As buoys entered the ice zone,the buoy speed was normally distributed at wind speeds above 6 m/s.The buoy drifted mainly to the right of the wind within 45°at wind speeds above 8 m/s.During further consolidation of the ice in MIZ,the direct forcing on the ice through winds will be lessened.The correlation coefficient value increased to 0.9 in November,and gradually decreased to 0.7 in April. | Xiaomin Chang Longchun Ye Guangyu Zuo Jingyue Li Keyu Wei Yinke Dou | 2022 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,7: | 1 |

| 10 | Nanoscale all-optical logic devices显示文摘Commercial computers based on electronic logic devices have brought great changes to the world. However, traditional electronic devices are suffering from numerous technical challenges in their attempts to continue to satisfy Moore's law. Alloptical logic devices, as promising successors to their electronic counterparts, have become a major focus of optics research. In this paper, we provide a review of current all-optical logic devices. The logic gates in these devices, which are described in the first part of the review, are divided into five categories based on the different principles used in their realization. Complex optical devices with various functions and reconfigurable devices are summarized in the next section. In the final part of this paper, we discuss some of the previous works on all-optical integrated chips with specific functions. | 14 | Carbon storage in a wolfberry plantation chronosequence established on a secondary saline land in an arid irrigated area of Gansu Province,China显示文摘Carbon(C) storage has received significant attention for its relevance to agricultural security and climate change. Afforestation can increase C storage in terrestrial ecosystems, and has been recognized as an important measure to offset CO_2 emissions. In order to analyze the C benefits of planting wolfberry(Lycium barbarum L.) on the secondary saline lands in arid areas, we conducted a case study on the dynamics of biomass carbon(BC) storage and soil organic carbon(SOC) storage in different-aged wolfberry plantations(4-, 7-and 11-year-old) established on a secondary saline land as well as on the influence of wolfberry plantations on C storage in the plant-soil system in an arid irrigated area(Jingtai County) of Gansu Province, China. The C sequestration and its potential in the wolfberry plantations of Gansu Province were also evaluated. An intact secondary saline land was selected as control. Results show that wolfberry planting could decrease soil salinity, and increase BC, SOC and litter C storage of the secondary saline land significantly, especially in the first 4 years after planting. The aboveground and belowground BC storage values in the intact secondary saline land(control) accounted for only 1.0% and 1.2% of those in the wolfberry plantations, respectively. Compared to the intact secondary saline land, the SOC storage values in the 4-, 7-and 11-year-old wolfberry plantations increased by 36.4%, 37.3% and 43.3%, respectively, and the SOC storage in the wolfberry plantations occupied more than 92% of the ecosystem C storage. The average BC and SOC sequestration rates of the wolfberry plantations for the age group of 0–11 years were 0.73 and 3.30 Mg C/(hm^2·a), respectively. There were no significant difference in BC and SOC storage between the 7-year-old and 11-year-old wolfberry plantations, which may be due in part to the large amounts of C offtakes in new branches and fruits. In Gansu Province, the C storage in the wolfberry plantations has reached up to 3.574 Tg in 2013, and the C sequestration potential of the existing wolfberry plantations was 0.134 Tg C/a. | 19 | Identification of microRNAs regulating grain filling of rice inferior spikelets in response to moderate soil drying post-anthesis显示文摘The grain filling of inferior spikelets is much less complete than that of superior spikelets in rice cultivars with large panicles and numerous spikelets and is promoted by moderate soil drying(MD)post-anthesis.A growing body of evidence has shown that microRNAs function in regulating grain development.However,little is known about the mechanism of microRNA control of grain filling of inferior spikelets in response to MD.In this study,grain filling of inferior spikelets was promoted by MD treatment in Nipponbare.Small-RNA profiling at the most active grain-filling stage was conducted in inferior spikelets under control(CK)and MD treatment.Of 521 known and 128 novel miRNAs,38 known and 9 novel miRNAs were differentially expressed between the CK and MD treatments.Target genes of differentially expressed miRNAs were involved in multiple developmental and signaling pathways associated with catalytic activity,carbohydrate metabolism,and other functions.Both miR1861 and miR397 were upregulated by MD,leading to a decrease in OsSBDCP1 and OsLAC,two negative regulators of SSIIIa activity and BR signaling,respectively.In contrast,miR1432 abundance was reduced by MD,resulting in upregulation of OsACOT and thus an elevated content of both ABA and IAA.These results suggest that both starch synthesis and phytohormone biosynthesis are regulated by differentially expressed miRNAs in inferior spikelets in response to MD treatment.Our results suggest the molecular mechanisms by which miRNAs regulate grain filling in inferior spikelets of rice under moderate soil drying,providing potential application in agriculture to increase rice yields by genetic approaches. | Zhenning Teng Yinke Chen Youqing Yuan Yaqiong Peng Yake Yi Huihui Yu Zhenxie Yi Jianchang Yang Yan Peng Meijuan Duan Jianhua Zhang Nenghui Ye | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,4: | 1 |
