| 1 | Seasonal variation of snow microbial community structure in the East Rongbuk glacier, Mt. Everest显示文摘The bacterial diversity and abundance in the snow of East Rongbuk glacier, Mt. Everest were examined through 16S rRNA gene clone library and flow cytometry approaches. In total, 35 16S rRNA gene sequences were obtained, which belong to α, β, γ-Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, CFB, Cyanobacteria, Eukaryotic chloroplast, and TM7 candidate phylum respectively. γ-Proteobacteria was the dominant bacterial group in this region, while the genera Acinetobacter and Leclercia were domi- nant on the genus level. The community structure varied seasonally. The bacterial abundance in sum- mer snow was higher than that in winter. Moreover, the snow bacterial community structures in both seasons were diverse, with not only common species but season-specific species. The common species most likely originated from the Tibet Plateau. Bacteria in summer snow are affiliated with marine environ- ment, whereas bacteria in winter snow are closely related to more diverse environments and show the feature of resistance to cold. | 2 | Integrated sensor system for monitoring rice growth conditions based on unmanned ground vehicle system显示文摘Ground-based platform systems provide a good tool for monitoring and managing crop conditions in precision agriculture applications and have been widely used for monitoring crop conditions.To develop an unmanned ground vehicle system(UGVS)based multi-sensors and test the feasibility of this system for monitoring rice conditions,an UGVS was developed to collect real-time rice condition information including NDVI values,reflectance measurements and crop canopy temperature in this study.Major components of the integrated system are GreenSeeker R100 system,hyper-spectroradiometer and infrared temperature sensor.The leaf area index(LAI)was measured by the CGMD302 Spectrometer.The Independent Samples T-Test method and the one way ANOVA method were used to determine the best spectral indices and analyze the relationship between the vegetation indices and rice LAI.It was found that the two best spectral indices for estimating LAI were NDVI(860 nm and 750 nm)with the correlation coefficient(R^(2))at 0.745 and RVI(853 nm and 751 nm)with the R^(2)at 0.724.The results show the UGVS can support multi-source information acquisition and is useful for crop management and precision agriculture applications. | Wang Pei Yubin Lan Luo Xiwen Zhou Zhiyan Zhigang Wang Yonghui Wang | 2014 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2014,7,2: | 6 |
| 3 | Enhancement of Aggression Induced by Isolation Rearing is Associated with a Lack of Central Serotonin显示文摘Isolation rearing(IR) enhances aggressive behavior, and the central serotonin(5-hydroxytryptamine,5-HT) system has been linked to IR-induced aggression.However, whether the alteration of central serotonin is the cause or consequence of enhanced aggression is still unknown. In the present study, using mice deficient in central serotonin Tph2-/-and Lmx1 b-/-, we examined the association between central serotonin and aggression with or without social isolation. We demonstrated that central serotonergic neurons are critical for the enhanced aggression after IR. 5-HT depletion in wild-type mice increased aggression. On the other hand, application of 5-HT in Lmx1 b-/-mice inhibited the enhancement of aggression under social isolation conditions. Dopamine was downregulated in Lmx1 b-/-mice. Similar to 5-HT, L-DOPA decreased aggression in Lmx1 b-/-mice. | 4 | Microbial community structure in major habitats above 6000 m on Mount Everest显示文摘Bacterial abundance in surface snow between 6600 and 8000 m a.s.l. on the northern slope of Mt. Ev- erest was investigated by flow cytometry. Bacterial diversity in serac ice at 6000 m a.s.l., glacier melt- water at 6350 m, and surface snow at 6600 m a.s.l. was examined by constructing a 16S rRNA gene clone library. Bacterial abundance in snow was higher than that in the Antarctic but similar to other mountain regions in the world. Bacterial abundance in surface snow increased with altitude but showed no correlation with chemical parameters. Bacteria in the cryosphere on Mt. Everest were closely related to those isolated from soil, aquatic environments, plants, animals, humans and other frozen environ- ments. Bacterial community structures in major habitats above 6000 m were variable. The Cyto- phaga-Flavobacterium-Bacteroides (CFB) group absolutely dominated in glacial meltwater, while β-Proteobacteria and the CFB group dominated in serac ice, and β-Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria dominated in surface snow. | 6 | General synthesis of hollow mesoporous conducting polymers by dual-colloid interface co-assembly for high-energy-density micro-supercapacitors显示文摘Rational design and precise regulation over the morphology, structure, and pore size of functional conducting mesoporous polymers with enriched active sites and shorten electron–ion transport pathway are extremely important for developing high-performance micro-supercapacitors (MSCs), but still remain a great challenge. Herein, a general dual-colloid interface co-assembly strategy is proposed to fabricate hollow mesoporous polypyrrole nano-bowls (mPPy-nbs) for high-energy-density solid-state planar MSCs. By simply adjusting the size of block copolymer micelles, the diameter of polystyrene nanospheres and the amount of pyrrole monomer, mesopore size of the shell, void and shell thickness of mPPy-nbs can be simultaneously controlled. Importantly, this strategy can be further utilized to synthesize other hollow mesoporous polymers, including poly(tris(4-aminophenyl)amine), poly(1,3,5-triaminobenzene) and their copolymers, demonstrative of excellent universality. The structurally optimized mPPy-nb exhibits high specific surface area of 122 m^(2) g^(−1)and large capacitance of 225 F g^(−1) at 1 mV s^(−1). Furthermore, the MSCs assembled by mPPy-nbs deliver impressive volumetric capacitance of 90 F cm^(−3) and energy density of 2.0 mWh cm^(−3), superior to the most reported polymers-based MSCs. Also, the fabricated MSCs present excellent flexibility with almost no capacitance decay under varying bending states, and robust serial/parallel self-integration for boosting voltage and capacitance output. | 7 | Genetic architecture of maize yield traits dissected by QTL mapping and GWAS in maize显示文摘The study of yield traits can reveal the genetic architecture of grain yield for improving maize production.In this study, an association panel comprising 362 inbred lines and a recombinant inbred line population derived from X178 × 9782 were used to identify candidate genes for nine yield traits. High-priority overlap(HPO) genes, which are genes prioritized in a genome-wide association study(GWAS), were investigated using coexpression networks. The GWAS identified 51 environmentally stable SNPs in two environments and 36 pleiotropic SNPs, including three SNPs with both attributes. Seven hotspots containing 41 trait-associated SNPs were identified on six chromosomes by permutation. Pyramiding of superior alleles showed a highly positive effect on all traits, and the phenotypic values of ear diameter and ear weight consistently corresponded with the number of superior alleles in tropical and temperate germplasm. A total of 61 HPO genes were detected after trait-associated SNPs were combined with the coexpression networks. Linkage mapping identified 16 environmentally stable and 16 pleiotropic QTL.Seven SNPs that were located in QTL intervals were assigned as consensus SNPs for the yield traits.Among the candidate genes predicted by our study, some genes were confirmed to function in seed development. The gene Zm00001 d016656 encoding a serine/threonine protein kinase was associated with five different traits across multiple environments. Some genes were uniquely expressed in specific tissues and at certain stages of seed development. | 8 | Dynamics of local extreme rainfall of super Typhoon Soudelor (2015) in East China显示文摘The characteristics and dynamics associated with the distribution, intensity, and triggering factors of local severe precipitation in Zhejiang Province induced by Super Typhoon Soudelor(2015) were investigated using mesoscale surface observations, radar reflectivity, satellite nephograms, and the final(FNL) analyses of the Global Forecasting System(GFS) of the National Center for Environmental Prediction(NCEP). The rainfall processes during Soudelor's landfall and translation over East China could be separated into four stages based on rainfall characteristics such as distribution, intensity, and corresponding dynamics. The relatively less precipitation in the first stage resulted from interaction between the easterly wind to the north flank of this tropical cyclone(TC) and the coastal topography along the southeast of Zhejiang Province, China. With landfall of the TC in East China during the second stage, precipitation maxima occurred because of interaction between the TC's principal rainbands and the local topography from northeastern Fujian Province to southwestern Zhejiang Province. The distribution of precipitation presented significant asymmetric features in the third stage with maximal rainfall bands in the northeast quadrant of the TC when Soudelor's track turned from westward to northward as the TC decayed rapidly. Finally, during the northward to northeastward translation of the TC in the fourth stage, the interaction between a mid-latitude weather system and the northern part of the TC resulted in transfer of the maximum rainfall from the north of Zhejiang Province to the north of Jiangsu Province,which represented the end of rainfall in Zhejiang Province. Further quantitative calculations of the rainfall rate induced by the interaction between local topography and TC circulation(defined as 'orographic effects') in the context of a one-dimensional simplified model showed that orographic effects were the primary factor determining the intensity of precipitation in this case,and accounted for over 50% of the total precipitation. The asymmetric distribution of the TC's rainbands was closely related to the asymmetric distribution of moisture resulted from changes of the TC's structure, and led to asymmetric distribution of local intense precipitation induced by Soudelor. Based on analysis of this TC, it could be concluded that local severe rainfall in the coastal regions of East China is closely related to changes of TC structure and intensity, as well as the outer rainbands. In addition, precipitation intensity and duration will increase correspondingly because of the complex interactions between the TC and local topography, and the particular TC track along large-scale steering flow. DNA vaccine formulations of the two antigens (VRSj31 and VRSj32) were produced and injected intramuscularly twice at a 2-week interval and then recombinant proteins (rSj31 and rSj32) together with Freund Complete Adjuvant (FCA) were used to boost the goats. The experiment was repeated in different batche cercariae. A strong anamnestic antibody response was induced after boost. A significant reduction of liver egg counts and miracidial hatching was showed in both experiments.
