1High?Index?Faceted Ni_3S_2 Branch Arrays as Bifunctional Electrocatalysts for Efficient Water Splitting显示文摘For efficient electrolysis of water for hydrogen generation or other valueadded chemicals, it is highly relevant to develop low-temperature synthesis of low-cost and high-e ciency metal sulfide electrocatalysts on a large scale. Herein, we construct a new core–branch array and binder-free electrode by growing Ni_3S_2 nanoflake branches on an atomic-layer-deposited(ALD) TiO_2 skeleton. Through induced growth on the ALD-TiO_2 backbone, cross-linked Ni_3S_2 nanoflake branches with exposed { 210} highindex facets are uniformly anchored to the preformed TiO_2 core forming an integrated electrocatalyst. Such a core–branch array structure possesses large active surface area, uniform porous structure, and rich active sites of the exposed { 210 } high-index facet in the Ni_3S_2 nanoflake. Accordingly, the TiO_2@Ni_3S_2 core/branch arrays exhibit remarkable electrocatalytic activities in an alkaline medium, with lower overpotentials for both oxygen evolution reaction(220 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)) and hydrogen evolution reaction(112 m V at 10 mA cm^(-2)), which are better than those of other Ni_3S_2 counterparts. 2Gene expression profiling under different photoperiod/temperature conditions in a photoperiod-/thermo-sensitive genic male sterile line of rice(Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘Peiai 64S is a photoperiod- and thermo- sensitive genic male sterile (PTSGMS) line of rice, which is male sterile at long day/high temperature and partial fertile at short day/low temperature. A cDNA array representing 3328 unique rice genes was used to profile the gene expression patterns in the young panicles of Peiai 64S under these two condi- tions. The statistical data showed that up to 14.60% of genes exhibited up-or down-regulated expressions in the plants at long day/high temperature compared with plants at short day/low temperature. Only four genes were up-regulated while 482 genes down-regulated. Real-time PCR with all the up-regulated and 9 randomly selected down-regulated genes confirmed the differential expressions detected by the array, indicating that the constructed cDNA array is reliable. These differently expressed genes participated in almost all cell biological responses. Analysis of up- and down-regulated genes revealed distinctive changes between the mRNA abundances of MMK1 and MMK2, both of which are analogs ofMAPK, and significant down-regulation of several transcription factors. 5A lipid-based LMP2-mRNA vaccine to treat nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)is a serious and highly invasive epithelial malignancy that is closely associated with Epstein‒Barr virus(EBV).Due to the lack of therapeutic vaccines for NPC,we selected EBV latent membrane protein 2(LMP2)as a preferable targeting antigen to develop a lipid-based LMP2-mRNA(mLMP2)vaccine.Full-length mLMP2 expressing LMP2 was first synthesized using an in vitro transcription method and then encapsulated into(2,3-dioleacyl propyl)trimethylammonium chloride(DOTAP)-based cationic liposomes to obtain the mRNA vaccine(LPX-mLMP2).The cell assays showed that the antigenpresenting cells were capable of highly efficient uptake of LPX-mLMP2 and expression of LMP2.LMP2 could subsequently be presented to form the peptide-major histocompatibility complex(pMHC).Furthermore,LPX-mLMP2 could accumulate in the spleen,express antigens,promote the maturation of dendritic cells and stimulate antigen-specific T-cell responses in vivo.It dramatically inhibited the tumor growth of the LMP2-expressing tumor model after three doses of vaccination.Additionally,the proliferation of antigen-specific T cells in the tumor site made a good sign for the promise of mRNA vaccines in virus-induced cancer.Overall,we provided a newly developed antigen-encoding mRNA vaccine with advantages against NPC.We also demonstrated that mRNA vaccines are attractive candidates for cancer immunotherapy.Mengran Guo Xing Duan Xingchen Peng Zhaohui Jin Hai Huang Wen Xiao Qian Zheng Yongqi Deng Na Fan Kepan Chen Xiangrong Song 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:1

7Effect of extracellular polymeric substances on Dolichospermum aggregation during temperature rise显示文摘Dolichospermum,a typical model filamentous of cyanobacteria,has the potential to cause severely bloom.Extracellular polymeric substances(EPSs)are considered to influence the aggregation of the algae,and temperature is a significant factor affecting EPSs secretion.However,the mechanism of how EPSs affects the aggregation of Dolichospermum is still unclear because the structure and composition of EPSs are complex.In this study,the effects of EPSs on the aggregation of Dolichospermum during the rise of temperature(7-37℃)were determined.The results showed that the concentration of extracellular polysaccharides and proteins changed significantly with increasing temperature(P<0.01).Firstly,during the increasing temperature,the polysaccharide content of EPSs increased from 20.34 to 54.64 mg/L,and the polysaccharides in the soluble EPS(S-EPS)layer changed significantly.The protein content reached maximum value at 21℃(14.52 mg/L)and varied significantly in S-EPS and loosely bound EPS(LB-EPS).In the EPSs matrix,humus substances and protein were main components of S-EPS and LB-EPS,and protein was the main component of tightly bound EPS(TB-EPS).Secondly,the cell density of Dolichospermum increased during the temperature rise while the aggregation ratio decreased.Moreover,zeta potential and surface thermodynamic analysis of Dolichospermum revealed that the interfacial free energy and electrostatic repulsion increased gradually with increasing temperature,which further reduced the aggregation of Dolichospermum.Finally,principal component analysis(PCA)analysis showed the aggregation of Dolichospermum was directly related to the changes of protein in EPSs(especially S-EPS and LB-EPS)and zeta potential,and polysaccharides in EPSs inhibited the aggregation of Dolichospermum.Based on these results,it was illustrated that the composition and concentration of EPSs affected the cell surface properties of Dolichospermum with the change of temperature and thus affected the aggregation of Dolichospermum.Dailan DENG Han MENG You MA Yongqi GUO Zixuan WANG Huan HE Khan WAQAS Jin’e LIU Limin ZHANG 2023Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2023,41,6:0
