| 3 | Removal of phosphate from wastewater using alkaline residue显示文摘Alkaline residue(AR) was found to be an efficient adsorbent for phosphate removal from wastewater. The kinetic and equilibrium of phosphate removal were investigated to evaluate the performance of modified alkaline residue. After treatment by NaOH(AR-NaOH), removal performance was significantly improved, while removal performance was almost completely lost after treatment by HCl(AR-HCl). The kinetics of the removal process by all adsorbents was well characterized by the pseudo second-order model. The Langmuir model exhibited the best correlation for AR-HCl, while AR was effectively described by Freundlich model. Both models were well fitted to AR-NaOH. The maximum adsorption capacities calculated from Langmuir equation were in following manner: AR-NaOH > AR > AR-HCl. Phosphate removal by alkaline residue was pH dependent process. Mechanisms for phosphate removal mainly involved adsorption and precipitation, varied with equilibrium pH of solution. For AR-HCl, the acid equilibrium pH(< 6.0) was unfavorable for the formation of Ca-P precipitate, with adsorption as the key mechanism for phosphate removal. In contrast, for AR and ARNaOH, precipitation was the dominant mechanism for phosphate removal, due to the incrase on pH(> 8.0) after phosphate removal. | 4 | Effects of Sini San used alone and in combination with fluoxetine on central and peripheral 5-HT levels in a rat model of depression显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Sini San and fluoxetine on the levels of central and peripheral 5-HT in a rat model of depression, and provide new insight into the treatment of depression with integrated Chinese-Western Medicine.METHODS: A rat model of depression was established by chronic mild stress(CMS). Model rats received either Sini San, fluoxetine, a combination of the two drugs, or no drug treatment. Healthy naive rats were used as controls. Open field and sucrose preference tests were used to assess depression-like behavior. ELISA and immunohistochemistry were used to determine central and peripheral levels of 5-HT.RESULTS: In the group with no drug treatment,central 5-HT expression decreased while peripheral5-HT concentrations increased as CMS continued.Four weeks after CMS, Sini San alone was less effective in reducing depression-like behavior than fluoxetine alone or in combination with Sini San,but combined use was more effective than fluoxetine alone. Eight weeks after CMS, Sini San alone or in combination with fluoxetine was more effective in reducing depression-like behavior than fluoxetine alone. Furthermore Sini San and fluoxetine used alone or in combination notably increased central 5-HT expression and decreased peripheral 5-HT levels in the rat model.CONCLUSION:The results of the present study indicate that there is a synergistic action between the two medicines in the treatment of depression. Sini San exhibited a relatively long lag before its effects were observed; however, by eight weeks the Traditional Chinese Medicine appeared at least as effective as fluoxetine. | 5 | Occurrence of the Iron–rich Melt in the Heijianshan Iron Deposit, Eastern Tianshan, NW China: Insights into the Origin of Volcanic Rock–hosted Iron Deposits显示文摘Long-standing controversy persists over the presence and role of iron–rich melts in the formation of volcanic rock-hosted iron deposits. Conjugate iron–rich and silica–rich melt inclusions observed in thin-sections are considered as direct evidence for the presence of iron-rich melt, yet unequivocal outcrop-scale evidence of iron-rich melts are still lacking in volcanic rock-hosted iron deposits. Submarine volcanic rock-hosted iron deposits, which are mainly distributed in the western and eastern Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, are important resources of iron ores in China, but it remains unclear whether iron-rich melts have played a role in the mineralization of such iron ores. In this study, we observed abundant iron-rich agglomerates in the brecciated andesite lava of the Heijianshan submarine volcanic rock–hosted iron deposit, Eastern Tianshan, China. The iron-rich agglomerates occur as irregular and angular masses filling fractures of the host brecciated andesite lava. They show concentric potassic alteration with silicification or epidotization rims, indicative of their formation after the wall rocks. The iron-rich agglomerates have porphyritic and hyalopilitic textures, and locally display chilled margins in the contact zone with the host rocks. These features cannot be explained by hydrothermal replacement of wall rocks(brecciated andesite lava) which is free of vesicle and amygdale, rather they indicate direct crystallization of the iron-rich agglomerates from iron-rich melts. We propose that the iron-rich agglomerates were formed by open-space filling of volatile-rich iron-rich melt in fractures of the brecciated andesite lava. The iron-rich agglomerates are compositionally similar to the wall-rock brecciated andesite lava, but have much larger variation. Based on mineral assemblages, the iron-rich agglomerates are subdivided into five types, i.e., albite-magnetite type, albite-K-feldsparmagnetite type, K-feldspar–magnetite type, epidote-magnetite type and quartz-magnetite type, representing that products formed at different stages during the evolution of a magmatic-hydrothermal system. The albite-magnetite type represents the earliest crystallization product from a residual ironrich melt; the albite-K-feldspar-magnetite and K-feldspar-magnetite types show features of magmatichydrothermal transition, whereas the epidote-magnetite and quartz-magnetite types represent products of hydrothermal alteration. The occurrence of iron-rich agglomerates provides macroscopic evidence for the presence of iron-rich melts in the mineralization of the Heijianshan iron deposit. | 6 | Sea fog detection based on unsupervised domain adaptation显示文摘Sea fog detection with remote sensing images is a challenging task. Driven by the different image characteristics between fog and other types of clouds, such as textures and colors, it can be achieved by using image processing methods. Currently, most of the available methods are datadriven and relying on manual annotations. However, because few meteorological observations and buoys over the sea can be realized, obtaining visibility information to help the annotations is difficult. Considering the feasibility of obtaining abundant visible information over the land and the similarity between land fog and sea fog, we propose an unsupervised domain adaptation method to bridge the abundant labeled land fog data and the unlabeled sea fog data to realize the sea fog detection. We used a seeded region growing module to obtain pixel-level masks from roughlabels generated by the unsupervised domain adaptation model. | 7 | A Stereo Matching Algorithm Based on Four-Moded Census and Relative Confidence Plane Fitting显示文摘A four-moded Census transform stereo matching algorithm using bidirectional constraint dynamic programming and relative confidence plane fitting is proposed to solve the problems of matching quality. Using the four-moded Census transform which adds a restrictive condition replaces traditional Census transform to improve matching accuracy and mean value of all pixels intensity replaces the center pixel intensity in the Census window to solve the problem of the center pixel distortion effectively,a refined initial local matching cost can be obtained. During the disparity optimization, the difficulty of disparity computation in textureless areas is overcome by the estimated condition and defined relative confident pixels. | 9 | Phosphorylation of histone H3 on Ser10 by auto-phosphorylated PAK1 is not essential for chromatin condensation and meiotic progression in porcine oocytes显示文摘Background: The p21-activated kinase 1 (PAK1) is essential for mitosis and plays an important role in the regulation of microtubule assembly during oocyte meiotic maturation in mice; however, little is known about its role in porcine oocytes. Result: Total p21-activated kinase 1 (PAK1) and phosphorylated PAK1 at Thr423 (PAK1 Thr423 ) were consistently expressed in porcine oocytes from the germinal vesicle (GV) to the second metaphase (MII) stages, but phosphorylation of histone H3 at Ser10 (H3 Ser10 ) was only expressed after the GV stage. Immunofluorescence analysis revealed that PAK1 Thr423 and H3 Ser10 colocalized on chromosomes after the GV stage. Blocking of endogenous PAK1 Thr423 by injecting a specific antibody decreased the phosphorylation level of H3 Ser10 ; however, it had no impact on chromatin condensation, meiotic progression, cleavage rate of blastomeres or the rate of blastocyst formation. | 10 | Biomechanics and mechanobiology of the bone matrix显示文摘The bone matrix plays an indispensable role in the human body,and its unique biomechanical and mechanobiological properties have received much attention.The bone matrix has unique mechanical anisotropy and exhibits both strong toughness and high strength.These mechanical properties are closely associated with human life activities and correspond to the function of bone in the human body.None of the mechanical properties exhibited by the bone matrix is independent of its composition and structure.Studies on the biomechanics of the bone matrix can provide a reference for the preparation of more applicable bone substitute implants,bone biomimetic materials and scaffolds for bone tissue repair in humans,as well as for biomimetic applications in other fields.In providing mechanical support to the human body,bone is constantly exposed to mechanical stimuli.Through the study of the mechanobiology of the bone matrix,the response mechanism of the bone matrix to its surrounding mechanical environment can be elucidated and used for the health maintenance of bone tissue and defect regeneration.This paper summarizes the biomechanical properties of the bone matrix and their biological significance,discusses the compositional and structural basis by which the bone matrix is capable of exhibiting these mechanical properties,and studies the effects of mechanical stimuli,especially fluid shear stress,on the components of the bone matrix,cells and their interactions.The problems that occur with regard to the biomechanics and mechanobiology of the bone matrix and the corresponding challenges that may need to be faced in the future are also described. | Chunyang Ma Tianming Du Xufeng Niu Yubo Fan | 2022 | Bone Research2022,10,4: | 2 |
| 11 | A Sub-pixel Disparity Refinement Algorithm Based on Lagrange Interpolation显示文摘A sub-pixel disparity refinement algorithm based on Lagrange interpolation is proposed to calculate the sub-pixel disparity and the elevation of the target construction on the remote sensing image. The accurate integer matching feature points are obtained by improved affine scale invariant feature transform. A series of interpolation samples can be estimated through the three times magnification results of each feature matching point and its close neighbor pixels. The final sub-pixel deviation can be calculated by the interpolation samples.
