2Non-contact tensile viscoelastic characterization of microscale biological materials显示文摘Many structures and materials in nature and physiology have important 'meso-scale' structures at the micron lengthscale whose tensile responses have proven difficult to characterize mechanically. Although techniques such as atomic force microscopy and micro-and nano-identation are mature for compression and indentation testing at the nano-scale, and standard uniaxial and shear rheometry techniques exist for the macroscale, few techniques are applicable for tensile-testing at the micrometre-scale, leaving a gap in our understanding of hierarchical biomaterials. Here, we present a novel magnetic mechanical testing(MMT) system that enables viscoelastic tensile testing at this critical length scale. The MMT system applies non-contact loading, avoiding gripping and surface interaction effects. 4Inhibitory effects of lidocaine on cerebral vasospasm in a rabbit model of subarachnoid hemorrhage显示文摘Following subarachnoid hemorrhage, vasoconstrictor substances, cellular apoptosis, blood coagulation, and vascular cell proliferation affect the onset of cerebral vasospasm. Previous studies from our laboratory have revealed that injection of lidocaine (2 mg) into the cisterna magna reduces cerebral vasospasm and nerve functional impairment in an animal model of subarachnoid hemorrhage. The present study determined the optimal lidocaine dose for vasospasm and brain injury by injecting different doses of lidocaine into the cisterna magna in a rabbit model of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Results showed that endothelin, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-6 levels significantly increased in plasma, and calcitonin gene-related peptide levels significantly decreased in plasma (P < 0.05). The number of neurons was decreased, the number of cells expressing c-Fos increased in the hippocampus, and cross-sections and diameters of basilar arteries were reduced (P < 0.05). These changes significantly improved following injection of lidocaine (1, 2, 4, and 6 mg) into the cisterna magna. 5Cation-vacancy induced Li+ intercalation pseudocapacitance at atomically thin heterointerface for high capacity and high power lithium-ion batteries显示文摘It is challenging to create cation vacancies in electrode materials for enhancing the performance of rechargeable lithium ion batteries (LIBs). Herein, we utilized a strong alkaline etching method to successfully create Co vacancies at the interface of atomically thin Co_(3−x)O_(4)/graphene@CNT heterostructure for high-energy/power lithium storage. The creation of Co-vacancies in the sample was confirmed by high-resolution scanning transmission electron microscope (HRSTEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and electron energy loss near-edge structures (ELNES). The obtained Co_(3−x)O_(4)/graphene@CNT delivers an ultra-high capacity of 1688.2 mAh g^(−1) at 0.2 C, excellent rate capability of 83.7% capacity retention at 1 C, and an ultralong life up to 1500 cycles with a reversible capacity of 1066.3 mAh g^(−1). Reaction kinetic study suggests a significant contribution from pseudocapacitive storage induced by the Co-vacancies at the Co_(3−x)O_(4)/graphene@CNT interface. 6ALK gene expression status in pleural effusion predicts tumor responsiveness to crizotinib in Chinese patients with lung adenocarcinoma显示文摘Objective: The relationship between anaplastic lymphoma kinase(ALK) expression in malignant pleural effusion(MPE) samples detected only by Ventana immunohistochemistry(IHC) ALK(D5F3) and the efficacy of ALKtyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy is uncertain.Methods: Ventana anti-ALK(D5F3) rabbit monoclonal primary antibody testing was performed on 313 cell blocks of MPE samples from Chinese patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma, and fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) was used to verify the ALK gene status in Ventana IHC ALK(D5F3)-positive samples. The follow-up clinical data on patients who received crizotinib treatment were recorded.Results: Of the 313 MPE samples, 27(8.6%) were confirmed as ALK expression-positive, and the Ventana IHC ALK(D5F3)-positive rate was 17.3%(27/156) in wild-type epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) MPE samples. Twenty-three of the 27 IHC ALK(D5F3)-positive samples were positive by FISH.
