1Variations in the Lower Level of the PBL Associated with the Yellow Sea Fog-New Observations by L-Band Radar显示文摘The Chinese east coastal areas and marginal seas are foggy regions. The development of effective forecasting methods rests upon a comprehensive knowledge of the fog phenomena. This study provides new observations associated with the sea fogs over the northwestern Yellow Sea by means of L-band radar soundings with a high vertical resolution of 30 m. The monthly temperature lapse rate, the Richardson Numbers, and the humidity show obvious seasonal variations in the lower level of the planetary boundary layer (PBL) that are related to the onset, peak and end of the Yellow Sea fog season. The typical pattern of stratification for the sea fog season in the northwestern Yellow Sea is that a stable layer of about 400 m thick caps a 150 m conditionally unstable layer. Besides, the differences between fogs and stratus clouds in terms of humidity, turbulence and temperature are analyzed, which is of significance for sea fog forecast and detection by satellites. The thickness of the sea fogs varies in different stages of the fog season, and is associated with the temperature inversion. 2Matrix metalloproteinase-9 and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 expression in early focal cerebral infarction following urokinase thrombolysis in rats显示文摘Activity of matrix metalloproteinase-9 increases following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion,and is associated with cerebral microvascular permeability,blood-brain barrier destruction,inflammatory cell infiltration and brain edema.Matrix metalloproteinase-9 also likely participates in thrombolysis.A rat model of middle cerebral artery infarction was established by injecting autologous blood clots into the internal carotid artery.At 3 hours following model induction,urokinase was injected into the caudal vein.Decreased neurological severity score,reduced infarct volume,and increased expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 were observed in the cerebral cortex 24 hours after urokinase thrombolysis.These results suggest that urokinase can suppress damage in the acute-early stage of cerebral infarction.Yuqiang Song Hongli Zou Guofeng Wang Hongxia Yang Zhaohong Xie Jianzhong Bi 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,17:6
3Nondestructive 3D Image Analysis Pipeline to Extract Rice Grain Traits Using X-Ray Computed Tomography显示文摘The traits of rice panicles play important roles in yield assessment,variety classification,rice breeding,and cultivation management.Most traditional grain phenotyping methods require threshing and thus are time-consuming and labor-intensive;moreover,these methods cannot obtain 3D grain traits.In this work,based on X-ray computed tomography,we proposed an image analysis method to extract twenty-two 3D grain traits.After 104 samples were tested,the R^(2) values between the extracted and manual measurements of the grain number and grain length were 0.980 and 0.960,respectively.We also found a high correlation between the total grain volume and weight.In addition,the extracted 3D grain traits were used to classify the rice varieties,and the support vector machine classifier had a higher recognition accuracy than the stepwise discriminant analysis and random forest classifiers.In conclusion,we developed a 3D image analysis pipeline to extract rice grain traits using X-ray computed tomography that can provide more 3D grain information and could benefit future research on rice functional genomics and rice breeding.Weijuan Hu Can Zhang Yuqiang Jiang Chenglong Huang Qian Liu Lizhong Xiong Wanneng Yang Fan Chen 2020Plant Phenomics2020,2,1:6
4Active/passive Q-switching operation of 2 μm Tm,Ho:YAP laser with an acousto-optical Q-switch/MoS_2 saturable absorber mirror显示文摘The active/passive Q-switching operation of a 2 μm a-cut Tm,Ho:YAP laser was experimentally demonstrated with an acousto-optical Q–switch∕MoS_2 saturable absorber mirror. The active Q-switch laser was operated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, with an average output power of 12.3 W and a maximum pulse energy of 10.3 mJ. 5Long-term inorganic plus organic fertilization increases yield and yield stability of winter wheat显示文摘An understanding of wheat yield and yield stability response to fertilization is important for sustainable wheat production. A 36-year long-term fertilization experiment was employed to evaluate the yield and yield stability of winter wheat. Five fertilization regimes were compared,including(1) CK, no fertilizer;(2) NPK, inorganic fertilizer only;(3) O, organic fertilizer only;(4)NPKO, 50% of NPK plus 50% of O, and(5) HNPKO, 80% of NPK plus 80% of O. The greatest yield increase was recorded in HNPKO, followed by NPKO, with O producing the lowest mean yield increase. Over the 36 years, the rate of wheat yield increase in fertilized plots ranged from95.31 kg ha-1 year-1 in the HNPKO to 138.65 kg ha-1 year-1 in the O. Yield stability analysis using the additive main effects and multiplicative interactions(AMMI) method assigned 62.3%, 26.3%,and 11.4% of sums of squares to fertilization effect, environmental effect, and fertilization ×environment interaction effect, respectively. The combination of inorganic and organic fertilization(NPKO and HNPKO) appeared to produce more stable yields than O or NPK, with lower coefficients of variation and AMMI stability value. However, wheat grown with O seemed to be the most susceptible to climate change and the least productive among the fertilized plots.Significant correlations of grain yield with soil properties and with mean air temperature were observed. 7A Study on the Biocompatibility of MgO Coating Prepared by Anodic Oxidation Method on Magnesium Metal显示文摘Magnesium(Mg),is widely used for the bone repair in oral and orthopedic application due to excellent bioactivity,degradation and biocompatibility.However,the range of application is greatly limited because of the rapid degradation of Mg metal in the body.Surface modification is an effective method to enhance the corrosion resistance and reduce the degradation rate of Mg metal.In the present study,pure Mg metal(P-Mg)was subjected to alkali-heat treatment(AT-Mg)or anodic oxidation-heat treatment(AO-HT-Mg).Both AT-Mg and AO-HT-Mg had a layer of MgO on their surfaces after treatment.Then the effects of MgO coating on corrosion resistance,bioactivity,Mesenchymal Stem Cells’(MSCs)proliferation,adhesion and osteogenic differentiation,and the bone repair capability of Mg metal were investigated.We found both AT-Mg and AO-HT-Mg had stronger corrosion resistance than P-Mg.MSCs on both AT-Mg and AO-HT-Mg had higher expression of proteins and genes of ALP,OCN,Col-I and Runx2 than those on P-Mg.They also showed better bone repair property than P-Mg in vivo.In general,MgO layer formed by anodic oxidation-heat treatment had better resistance and biocompatibility than that produced by alkali-heat treatment.This study indicated the MgO coating not only improved the corrosion resistance of Mg metal,but also promoted the osteogenic differentiation of MSCs and bone regeneration.Yangmei Chen Xugang Lu Fenghua Zhao Yi Hu Shibing Xiong Yuqiang Guo Ping Huang Bangcheng Yang 2020Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,1:2
8A Population Genetic Analysis of Continuously Selected Chlamys farreri Populations显示文摘This study applied an optimized one-step 2b-RAD library construction strategy and performed simplified genome sequencing of 539 individuals from three continuously selected Chlamys farreri populations. SNP screening was performed using RAD typing software and population genetic parameters for the continuously selected populations from three generations(G1, G2, G3) were determined. The results showed that the optimized one-step 2b-RAD library construction strategy greatly simplified the experimental process, making it suitable for efficiently constructing a large number of libraries. A total of 18450 SNP markers were identified, which evenly distributed throughout the genome. Population genetic analysis of these three generations showed that the mean value of observed heterozygosity was 0.275 ± 0.177, 0.272 ± 0.181 and 0.275 ± 0.166, respectively. Meanwhile, the mean value of expected heterozygosity was 0.275 ± 0.141, 0.274 ± 0.145 and 0.280 ± 0.133, respectively. The Wright's fixation index(F) was 0.04291, 0.04976 and 0.06685, respectively. Markers deviated from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium accounted for 10.34%, 12.64%, and 23.11%, and the Shannon diversity index was 0.0999 ± 0.0404, 0.0921 ± 0.0388 and 0.0733 ± 0.0308. FIS(also known as the inbreeding coefficient) of the three populations was 0.0256, 0.0323 and 0.0468, respectively. We suggested that the 2b-RAD method is well suited to population genetic studies of aquacultured organisms. 12An Observational Study of Typhoon Imbudo in 2003显示文摘Typhoon Imbudo was a super-typhoon over the northwestern Pacific in 2003. It caused tremendous damage when it made landfalls in the Philippines and China. This paper documents observational analyses of Typhoon Imbudo during its landfall in China. All available observations are used to study its motion, intensity changes, convection, structure and precipitation. Best-track data indicate that Imbudo moved west-northwestward until 1800 UTC 23 July and then turned northwestward. FNL (final) analysis data show that the motion of Imbudo is dominated by changes of the subtropical high. At Imbudo's mature stage, the minimum sea level pressure dropped to 910 hPa and the maximum sustained winds were as high as 67 m s 1, which is the intensity of a super-typhoon. The surface wind field exhibited asymmetric characteristics. Polar-orbiting satellite imagery also manifested convective asymmetry before Imbudo made landfall in China. Analyzed the vertical wind shear, it is shown that the convection has a downshear-left pattern. All kinds of precipitation data were used to identify the asymmetric characteristic of the rainfall associated with the Imbudo. The maximum rainfalls were located in the southern boundary area between Guangxi and Guangdong. 17Adhesion of an Ultrasmall Nanoparticle on a Bilayer Membrane is Still Size and Shape Dependent显示文摘It has been found recently that an ultrasmall nanoparticle whose size is smaller than the thickness of a cell membrane has unique roles in biomedical applications including the development of next generation of drugs or advanced nanoscale cargo carriers.However,the effect of physical properties of an ultrasmall nanoparticle on its adhesion to a bilayer membrane,which is a key step for Nano-Bio interaction as well as the biomedical applications,is still largely unknown.By using molecular dynamics,we find that both size and shape of an ultrasmall nanoparticle strongly affect its adhesion states on a bilayer membrane(e.g.,adhesion,separation or entwined by polymer chains).Interestingly,our simulations show that with decreasing particle size,the effect of particle shape becomes even more evident for the adhesion behavior.It is indicated that the competition between nanoparticle-polymer binding and polymer chain deformation,both of which are influenced by particle size and shape,determines the final adhesion states of an ultrasmall nanoparticle.Our results are helpful for the full understanding of interaction mechanism between nanoparticles and cell membranes and the practical applications of such ultrasmall nanoparticles.Hao Yang Ling Wang Bing Yuan Kai Yang Yuqiang Ma 2015Journal of Materials Science & Technology2015,31,6:1

19Coherent coupling of vibrational states in the MEH-PPV film investigated through Multi-Color Photon Echo显示文摘The poly-[2-methoxy,(5-2′-ethyl-hexyloxy)-p-phenylene vinylene](MEH-PPV) film is investigated by means of the Multi-Color Photon Echo(MCPE) technique. Under the three-order nonlinear response theory,the reason for the occurrence of the quantum beats in the time domain and the relations among signal wavevector,pulse sequence and response function are discussed.
