| 1 | Effects of rotational speed and fill level on particle mixing in a stirred tank with different impellers显示文摘The particle mixing was studied in a cylindrical stirred tank with elliptical dished bottom by experiments and simulations. The impeller types used were double helical ribbon(HR) + bottom HR,pitched blade ribbon + bottom HR,inner and outer HR + bottom HR,and pitched blade ribbon + Pfaudler + bottom HR labeled as impellers Ⅰ to Ⅳ,respectively. The quantitative correlations among the rotational speed, fill level and power consumption for impeller Ⅰ and impeller Ⅱ were obtained by experiments to validate the discrete element method(DEM) simulations. The particle mixing at different operating conditions was simulated via DEM simulations to calculate the mixing index using the Lacey method, which is a statistical method to provide a mathematical understanding of the mixing state in a binary mixture. The simulation results reveal that as the rotational speed increases, the final mixing index increases, and as the fill level increases, the final mixing index decreases. At the same operating conditions, impeller Ⅲ is the optimal combination, which provides the highest mixing index at the same revolutions. | Yuyun Bao Yu Lu Ziqi Cai Zhengming Gao | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,6: | 7 |

| 3 | Inhibition of immune checkpoints prevents injury-induced heterotopic ossification显示文摘Heterotopic ossification(HO),true bone formation in soft tissue,is closely associated with abnormal injury/immune responses. We hypothesized that a key underlying mechanism of HO might be injury-induced dysregulation of immune checkpoint proteins(ICs).We found that the earliest stages of HO are characterized by enhanced infiltration of polarized macrophages into sites of minor injuries in an animal model of HO.The non-specific immune suppressants,Rapamycin and Ebselen, prevented HO providing evidence of the central role of the immune responses. We examined the expression pattern of ICs and found that they are dysregulated in HO lesions.More importantly, loss of function of inhibitory ICs(including PD1,PD-L1,and CD152)markedly inhibited HO,whereas loss of function of stimulatory ICs(including CD40L and OX-40L)facilitated HO.These findings suggest that IC inhibitors may provide a therapeutic approach to prevent or limit the extent of HO. | Chen Kan Jiazhao Yang Ding Na Yuanhong Xu Baixia Yang Haodong Zhao Huadong Lu Yuyun Li Keqin Zhang Tammy LMcGuire John AKessler Lixin Kan | 2019 | Bone Research2019,7,4: | 1 |
| 4 | Chemical analysis and flavour compound changes of vegetable blend slurry fermented with selected probiotic bacteria显示文摘A vegetable blend slurry consisting of aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis miller),garlic (Allium sativum),ginger (Zingiber officinale),liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and pumpkin seeds (Cucurbita pepo L.) was used as a probiotic medium to evaluate the impact of probiotic fermentation on its chemical composition and flavour compound changes. Two commercial probiotic bacteria,Bifidobacterium animalis subsp.lactis HN019 and Lactobacillus acidophilus La-14,were used for monoculture and coculture fermentation over 72 h.After fermentation, sugars, organic acids and amino acids changed differently due to differences in metabolic pathways. In addition, there was a significant decrease in organosulfur compounds (from 10.56 ± 0.98 mg/L to 6.14 ± 0.83 mg/L,7.80 ± 1.09 mg/L and 6.02 ± 0.61 mg/L for B.lactis HN019 monoculture,L.acidophilus La-14 monoculture, and coculture fermentation, respectively) and total phenolic contents (TPC,from 24.61 ± 1.23 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g dry extract (DE) to 16.29 ± 1.22 and 15.66 ± 1.03 mg GAE/g DE for L.acidophilus La-14 monoculture and coculture fermentation, respectively).Interestingly,no significant changes in oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC),total dietary fibre content and fat content after fermentation.Coculture fermentation did not show any significant synergistic or antagonistic effect. Our results suggest that the vegetable blend and the bacterial strains used have potential to create a novel probiotic product. | Shu Wen Sew Yuyun Lu Fransisca Taniasuri Shao Quan Liu | 2022 | Food Bioscience2022,47,3: | 0 |
| 5 | Development characteristics and formation analysis of the Liangjia Village earth fissure in the Weihe Basin,China显示文摘Liangjia Village earth fissure, one of the 79 earth fissures along the Kouzhen-Guanshan fault located in the northern Weihe Basin, causes severe damage to buildings and farmlands.Since the late 1950s,40 earth fissures have occurred in a similar east-west(EW)direction parallel to the Kouzhen-Guanshan fault, and a further 39 earth fissures have occurred with north-west,east-north,or north-east orientations intersecting the fault. In this study,a case study of Liangjia Village earth fissure was conducted to investigate the mechanisms of fissure generation in detail.Geotechnical and geophysical methods including measurements, trenching, drilling, and seismic exploration were used to reveal the basic characteristics, geological background, and origin model of the Liangjia Village earth fissure. This earth fissure, with a total length of 800 m in 2014,runs EW parallel to the Kouzhen-Guanshan fault, and it has damaged buildings and farmlands by forming sinkholes, gullies, subsidence, and a scarp. The trenching results indicated that this fissure underwent multi-phase activity.Analysis of geological drilling and shallow seismic profiling results showed that the fissure also possessed characteristics of a synsedimentary fault.Regarding its genesis, the fissure was formed through the combined actions of three factors:an earthquake created the fissure, the Kouzhen-Guanshan fault controlled its development, and loess erosion and groundwater runoff subsequently enlarged the fissure.Regional extension first generated many buried faults along the hanging wall of the Kouzhen-Guanshan fault before seismic activity caused the buried faults to propagate to the surface, where loess erosion and ground-water runoff promoted the formation of the current earth fissure. | Junhua Zhu Jianwei Qiao Feiyong Wang Quanzhong Lu Yuyun Xia Ransheng Chen Haiyuan Zhao Jingliang Dong | 2020 | Frontiers of Earth Science2020,14,4: | 0 |
