| 1 | Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Capacity of Ferulic Acid Released from Wheat Bran by Solid-state Fermentation of Aspergillus niger显示文摘Objective A strain of Aspergillus niger(A. niger), capable of releasing bound phenolic acids from wheat bran, was isolated. This strain was identified by gene sequence identification. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of ferulic acid released from wheat bran by this A. niger strain(FA-WB) were evaluated. Methods Molecular identification techniques based on PCR analysis of specific genomic sequences were conducted; antioxidant ability was examined using oxygen radical absorbance capacity(ORAC), cellular antioxidant activity(CAA) assays, and erythrocyte hemolysis assays. RAW264.7 cells were used as a model to detect anti-inflammatory activity. Results The filamentous fungal isolate was identified to be A. niger. ORAC and CAA assay showed that FA-WB had better antioxidant activity than that of the ferulic acid standard. The erythrocyte hemolysis assay results suggested that FA-WB could attenuate AAPH-induced oxidative stress through inhibition of reactive oxy gen species(ROS) generation. FA-WB could significantly restore the AAPH-induced increase in intracellular antioxidant enzyme activities to normal levels as well as inhibit the intracellular malondialdehyde formation. TNF-?, IL-6, and NO levels indicated that FA-WB can inhibit the inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS). | 2 | Microstructure Variation and Hardness Diminution During Low Cycle Fatigue of 55NiCrMoV7 Steel显示文摘The influence of temperature and hardness level on the cyclic behavior of 55NiCrMoV7 steel, and the microstructure variation and hardness diminution during low cycle fatigue behavior were investigated. By means of SEM and XRD, the modality of carbides and the full-width half-maximum (FWHM) of martensite (211) [M(211)] of X-ray diffraction spectrum in fatigue specimen were studied. The results showed that the cyclic stress response behavior generally showed an initial exponential softening for the first few cycles, followed by a gradual softening without cyclic softening saturation. The fatigue behavior of the steel is closely related to the hardness level. | 3 | Changes in the Cytokine Profiles of Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B during Antiviral Therapy显示文摘Objective To investigate the changes in the cytokine profiles of chronic hepatitis B(CHB)patients undergoing antiviral treatment.Methods Hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)-positive patients were treated with Pegylated interferon(PEGIFN)and entecavir(ETV).Clinical biochemistry and cytokines were detected at baseline and every 3 months.Results In all,200 patients completed 48 weeks of treatment,100 in the PEG-IFN group and 100 in the ETV group.During 3–6 months of treatment,compared with baseline,the PEG-IFN group showed a significant decrease in interferon-gamma(IFN-γ),interleukin-17 A(IL-17 A),interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-10(IL-10),and transforming growth factor beta(TGF-β)(P<0.001)and a significant increase in interferon-alpha 2(IFN-α2)(P<0.001).In the ETV group,IL-10 and TGF-β1 decreased significantly(P<0.001).After 3 months,the levels of IFN-α2,IL-17 A,and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)in the PEGIFN group were significantly higher than those in the ETV group(P<0.01).The levels of IL-6 and TGF-β3 were significantly lower than those in the ETV group(P<0.01).After 6 months,the levels of IFN-α2,IFN-γ,and TNF-αin the PEG-IFN group were significantly higher than those in the ETV group(P<0.01),while the levels of IL-6 and TGF-β3 were significantly lower than those in the ETV group(P<0.01).Compared with ETV,PEG-IFN had higher HBeAg and HBsAg disappearance rates.Conclusion During antiviral therapy,a change in the cytokine profile occurred;in the aspect of immune control and functional cure,PEG-IFN was significantly better than ETV. | LI Ming Hui LU Hui Hui CHEN Qi Qi LIN Yan Jie ZENG Zhan LU Yao ZHANG Lu DONG Jian Ping YI Wei XIE Yao | 2021 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2021,34,6: | 4 |
| 4 | Effects of thyme(Thymus vulgaris L.)addition on the volatile compounds of mutton broth during boiling显示文摘To investigate the effects of thyme(Thymus vulgaris L.)addition on the flavor modification of mutton broth during boiling,three mutton-broth samples with various thyme contents 0.06%(S1),0.30%(S2),and1.50%(S3)were analyzed and compared,without thyme as control(0.00%,S0).The meaty,fatty,pastoral flavor and spicy were chosen as sensory attributes to evaluate the flavor of the mutton-broth samples.Sensory results were significantly different(P<0.001),with S2 having the optimum overall acceptability.A total of 99 volatile compounds were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,among which19 compounds were considered as the odor-active compounds according to their odor activity values.Significant changes(P<0.05)appeared in most volatiles in S0 with thyme addition,especially aldehydes.Free fatty acids(FFAs)were also identified,and all of them significantly increased with increased thyme(P<0.05).Correlation analysis of odor-active compounds,FFAs,and sensory attributes through partial least squares regression indicated the important volatiles and FFAs remarkably contributed to the mutton broth samples,and further confirmed that the 0.30%of thyme may be a desirable addition amount for the sensory characteristics of mutton broth. | Shasha Qi Ping Zhan Honglei Tian Peng Wang Xueping Ma Kaixuan Li | 2022 | Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,2: | 2 |
| 5 | Whole-exome sequencing identified compound heterozygous variants in MMKS in a Chinese pedigree with Bardet-Biedl syndrome显示文摘Bardet-Biedl syndrome(BBS) is a genetically heterogeneous disorder characterized by retinal dystrophy, polydactyly, obesity,developmental delay, and renal defects. At least 21 candidate BBS-associated genes(BBS1-19, NPHP1, and IFT172) have previously been identified, and all of them play important roles in ciliary function. Here, we collected a BBS pedigree with four members and performed whole-exome sequencing on the proband. The variants were analyzed and evaluated to confirm their pathogenicity. We found compound heterozygous variants(c.1192C>T, p.Q398* and c.1175C>T, p.T392M) in MKKS in both the siblings, and these were likely to be pathogenic variants. We also found a missense variant(c.2029G>C, p.E677Q) in NPHP1 and a missense variant(c.2470C>T, p.R824C) in BBS9 in the proband only, which are variants of uncertain significance. | 6 | Is there any amphidromic point of S_2 constituent around the Natuna Islands in the southern South China Sea?显示文摘The discrepancies that if there is any amphidromic point of S2 constituent and its location if there is around the Natuna Islands in the southern South China Sea have suspended for a long time, however, there is always no convincing research to settle them up to now. The TOPEX/Poseidon and Jason-1 altimeters have been providing a long-term sea surface height data, which can be used to calculate the constants of tidal constituents along the satellite footprint with the harmonic analysis method. Based on more than 12 years altimetry data from T/P and Jason-1, the character of phase lags from harmonic analysis is used to identify if there is a S2 am-phidromic point around the Natuna Islands.
