| 2 | Carbon carry capacity and carbon sequestration potential in China based on an integrated analysis of mature forest biomass显示文摘Forests play an important role in acting as a carbon sink of terrestrial ecosystem.Although global forests have huge carbon carrying capacity(CCC)and carbon sequestration potential(CSP),there were few quantification reports on Chinese forests.We collected and compiled a forest biomass dataset of China,a total of 5841 sites,based on forest inventory and literature search results.From the dataset we extracted 338 sites with forests aged over 80 years,a threshold for defining mature forest,to establish the mature forest biomass dataset.After analyzing the spatial pattern of the carbon density of Chinese mature forests and its controlling factors,we used carbon density of mature forests as the reference level,and conservatively estimated the CCC of the forests in China by interpolation methods of Regression Kriging,Inverse Distance Weighted and Partial Thin Plate Smoothing Spline.Combining with the sixth National Forest Resources Inventory,we also estimated the forest CSP.The results revealed positive relationships between carbon density of mature forests and temperature,precipitation and stand age,and the horizontal and elevational patterns of carbon density of mature forests can be well predicted by temperature and precipitation.The total CCC and CSP of the existing forests are 19.87 and 13.86 Pg C,respectively.Subtropical forests would have more CCC and CSP than other biomes.Consequently,relying on forests to uptake carbon by decreasing disturbance on forests would be an alternative approach for mitigating greenhouse gas concentration effects besides afforestation and reforestation. | LIU Ying Chun YU Gui Rui WANG Qiu Feng ZHANG Yang Jian XU Ze Hong | 2014 | Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,12: | 15 |
| 3 | Identification of biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma by semiquantitative immunocytochemistry显示文摘AIM:To investigate the expression of key biomarkers in hepatoma cell lines,tumor cells from patients’blood samples,and tumor tissues.METHODS:We performed the biomarker tests in two steps.First,cells plated on coverslips were used to assess biomarkers,and fluorescence intensities were calculated using the NIH Image J software.The measured values were analyzed using the SPSS19.0 software to make comparisons among eight cell lines.Second,eighty-four individual samples were used to assess the biomarkers’expression.Negative enrichment of the blood samples was performed,and karyocytes were isolated and dropped onto pretreated glass slides for further analysis by immunofluorescence staining.Fluorescence intensities were compared among hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients,chronic HBV-infected patients,and healthy controls following methods similar to those used for cell lines.The relationships between the expression of biomarkers and clinical pathological parameters were analyzed by Spearman rank correlation tests.In addition,we studied the distinct biomarkers’expression with three-dimensional laser confocal microscopy reconstructions,and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed to understand the clinical significance of these biomarkers.RESULTS:Microscopic examination and fluorescence intensity calculations indicated that cytokeratin 8/18/19(CK)expression was significantly higher in six of the seven HCC cell lines examined than in the control cells,and the expression levels of asialoglycoprotein receptor(ASGPR)and glypican-3(GPC3)were higher in all seven HCC cell lines than in the control.Cells obtained from HCC patients’blood samples also displayed significantly higher expression levels of ASGPR,GPC3,and CK than cells from chronic HBV-infected patients or healthy controls;these proteins may be valuable surface biomarkers for identifying HCC circulating tumor cells isolated and enriched from the blood samples.The stem cell-like and epithelial-mesenchymal transition-related biomarkers could be detected on the karyocyte slides.ASGPR and GPC3 were expressed at high levels,and thus three-dimensional reconstructions were used to observe their expression in detail.This analysis indicated that GPC3 was localized in the cytoplasm and membrane,but that ASGPR had a polar localization.Survival analyses showed that expression of GPC3 and ASGPR is associated with a patient’s overall survival(OS).CONCLUSION:ASGPR,GPC3,and CK may be valuable HCC biomarkers for CTC detection;the expression of ASGPR and GPC3 might be helpful for understanding patients’OS. | Hong Mu Kai-Xuan Lin Hong Zhao Shu Xing Cong Li Fang Liu Hai-Zhen Lu Ze Zhang Yu-Lin Sun Xi-Yun Yan Jian-Qiang Cai Xiao-Hang Zhao | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,19: | 8 |

| 13 | Discrete twinning dynamics and size-dependent dislocation-to twin transition in body-centred cubic tungsten显示文摘Body-centred cubic(BCC) metals are known to have unstable intrinsic stacking faults and high resistance to deformation twinning, which can strongly influence their twinning behaviour. Though twinning mechanisms of BCC metals have been investigated for more than 60 years, the atomistic level dynamics of twinning remains under debate, especially regarding its impact on competition between twinning and slip. Here, we investigate the atomistic level dynamics of twinning in BCC tungsten(W) nanowires using in situ nanomechanical testing. Quantitative experimental studies directly visualize that deformation twins in W nanowires have a minimum size of six-layers and grow in increments of approximately three-layers at a time, in contrast to the layer-by-layer growth of deformation twins in face-centred cubic metals. These unique twinning dynamics induces a strong competition with ordinary dislocation slip,as exhibited by a size-dependent dislocation-to-twin transition in W nanowires, with a transition size of ~40 nm. Comprehensive statistical analyses of sporadic K(Ks) layer parameters were conducted using two years of lidar data, and the parameters of the Ks layers and their distribution obtained by the analyses are described. The seasonal distribution of Ks occurrence was obtained, with two maxima observed in January and July, respectively. The seasonal distributions of sporadic E(Es) occurrence over Beijing differ from those of Ks occurrence. However, good correlations between Es and Ks in case by case study were found. | 19 | An Investigation on the Molecular Characteristics and Intracellular Growth Ability among Environmental and Clinical Isolates of Legionella pneumophila in Sichuan Province, China显示文摘Objective To investigate the molecular characteristics and intracellular growth ability of Legionella pneumophila(L. pneumophila) strains from 1989 to 2016 in Sichuan Province, China. Methods Seventy-nine isolates of L. pneumophila were collected from environmental and clinical sources, including cooling towers, hot springs, bath water, fountains, and patients, and identified with 16 S rRNA gene analysis and serum agglutination assay. The isolates were then typed by Sequence-Based Typing(SBT), and Genotyping of forty-two LP1 strains were analyzed by means of multiple-locus VNTR analysis with 8 loci(MLVA-8). All strains were further analyzed for two virulence genes: Legionella vir homologue(lvh) and repeats in structural toxin(rtx A). The intracellular growth ability of 33 selected isolates was determined by examining their interaction with J774 cells. Results All isolates were identified to L. pneumophila including 11 serogroups, among which the main serogroup were LP1, accounting for 54.43%. Thirty-three different sequence types(STs) from five main clonal groups and five singletons were identified, along with 8 different MLVA patterns. Both the lvh and rtx A loci were found in all 79 strains. Thirty isolates showed high intracellular growth ability in J774 cells.
