1Antimony speciation in the environment:Recent advances in understanding the biogeochemical processes and ecological effects显示文摘Antimony(Sb) is a toxic metalloid, and its pollution has become a global environmental problem as a result of its extensive use and corresponding Sb-mining activities. The toxicity and mobility of Sb strongly depend on its chemical speciation. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on the biogeochemical processes(including emission, distribution,speciation, redox, metabolism and toxicity) that trigger the mobilization and transformation of Sb from pollution sources to the surrounding environment. Natural phenomena such as weathering, biological activity and volcanic activity, together with anthropogenic inputs, are responsible for the emission of Sb into the environment. Sb emitted in the environment can adsorb and undergo redox reactions on organic or inorganic environmental media, thus changing its existing form and exerting toxic effects on the ecosystem. 2Combined transplantation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and pedicled greater omentum promotes locomotor function and regeneration of axons after spinal cord injury in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: According to previous studies, the neuroprotective effect of the pedicled greater omentum may be attributed to the secretion of neurotrophic factors and stimulation of angiogenesis. The neurotrophic factors released from the pedicled greater omentum, such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor and neurotrophin 3/4/5 could exert a neuroprotective effect on the damaged host neural and glial cells, and also could induce the transdifferentiation of transplanted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) into neural cells. OBJECTIVE: Based on the functions of the omentum of neuro-protection and vascularization, we hypothesize that the transplantation of BMSCs and pedicled greater omentum into injured rat spinal cord might improve the survival rate and neural differentiation of transplanted BMSCs and consequently gain a better functional outcome. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled animal experiment. The experiments were carried out at the Department of Anatomy, the Secondary Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between June 2005 and June 2007. MATERIALS: Fifteen male inbred Wistar rats, weighing (200±20) g, provided by the Experimental Animal Center of the Secondary Military Medical University of Chinese PLA were used and met the animal ethical standards. Mouse anti-BrdU and mouse anti-NF200 monoclonal antibody were purchased from Boster, China. METHODS: Cell culture: We used inbred Sprague-Dawley rats to harvest bone marrow for culture of BMSCs and transplantation to avoid possible immune rejection. BMSCs were cultured via total bone marrow adherence. Experimental grouping and intervention: The rats were randomly divided into a control group, cell group and combined group, five rats per group. Rats in the control group underwent spinal cord injury (SCI) only, during which an artery clamp with pressure force of 30 g was employed to compress the spinal cord at the T10 level for 30 seconds to produce the SCI model. 5 μL PBS containing 105 BMSCs was injected into the injured site of the spinal cord in 60 seconds via a microsyringe in the cell group after SCI. In the combined group, after SCI and BMSC transplantation, an autograft pedicled greater omentum was transplanted onto the injured site of the spinal cord and fixed with a suture. SCI model and transplantation: Control group, SCI model without treatment; cell group, transplantation of BMSCs after SCI; combined group, combined transplantation of BMSCs and pedicled greater omentum after SCI. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: At days 1, 7, 14, 21 and 28 PO (post operation), the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan (BBB) scale was used to observe and evaluate the recovery of locomotor function. At day 29 PO, after transcardial perfusion using 4% paraformaldehyde, a spinal cord segment of 1 cm around the injury was harvested. A cryostat section was performed longitudinally in the horizontal plane and sections were chosen by systematic random sampling for staining. Anti-BrdU staining and counting was performed to measure survival rate of transplanted BMSCs; anti-BrdU-nestin and BrdU-glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) double staining and counting measured neural differentiation of BMSCs; and anti-NF 200 staining was used to evaluate axonal regeneration. RESULTS: All 15 rats were included in the outcome analysis, without any loss. Changes in BBB scores: Combined transplantation of BMSCs and the pedicled greater omentum produced significantly higher BBB scores at 7-28 days post-injury than in the control group (P < 0.05). BBB scores in the cell group were higher than in the control group at 28 days post-injury (P < 0.05). Survival rate and neural differentiation of transplanted BMSCs: Immunostaining of BrdU demonstrated that transplanted BMSCs survived in the spinal cord and migrated cranially and caudally as far as 0.5 mm from the injection site in the cell group and combined group. Some of the transplanted BMSCs expressed nestin or GFAP which revealed neural differentiation of BMSCs in the combined group and cell group. Axonal regeneration: The areas of axonal NF200 staining in the cell group and control group were lower than that of the combined group (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: It is effective and feasible to transplant BMSCs with the pedicled greater omentum for regeneration of spinal cord after SCI compared with transplanting BMSCs alone. 4Bridging sciatic nerve gap using tissue-engineered nerves constructed with neural tissue-committed stem cells derived from bone marrow显示文摘BACKGROUND:Schwann cells are the most commonly used cells for tissue-engineered nerves. However,autologous Schwann cells are of limited use in a clinical context,and allogeneic Schwann cells induce immunological rejections.Cells that do not induce immunological rejections and that are relatively easy to acquire are urgently needed for transplantation. OBJECTIVE:To bridge sciatic nerve defects using tissue engineered nerves constructed with neural tissue-committed stem cells(NTCSCs) derived from bone marrow;to observe morphology and function of rat nerves following bridging;to determine the effect of autologous nerve transplantation, which serves as the gold standard for evaluating efficacy of tissue-engineered nerves. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:This randomized,controlled,animal experiment was performed in the Anatomical Laboratory and Biomedical Institute of the Second Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between September 2004 and April 2006. MATERIALS:Five Sprague Dawley rats,aged 1 month and weighing 100-150 g,were used for cell culture.Sixty Sprague Dawley rats aged 3 months and weighing 220-250 g,were used to establish neurological defect models.Nestin,neuron-specific enolase(NSE),glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP),and S-100 antibodies were provided by Santa Cruz Biotechnology,Inc.,USA.Acellular nerve grafts were derived from dogs. METHODS:All rats,each with 1-cm gap created in the right sciatic nerve,were randomly assigned to three groups.Each group comprised 20 rats.Autograft nerve transplantation group:the severed 1-cm length nerve segment was reverted,but with the two ends exchanged;the proximal segment was sutured to the distal sciatic nerve stump and the distal segment to the proximal stump.Blank nerve scaffold transplantation group:a 1-cm length acellular nerve graft was used to bridge the sciatic nerve gap.NTCSC engineered nerve transplantation group:a 1-cm length acellular nerve graft,in which NTCSCs were inoculated,was used to bridge the sciatic nerve gap. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Following surgery,sciatic nerve functional index and electrophysiology functions were evaluated for nerve conduction function,including conduction latency,conduction velocity,and action potential peak.Horseradish peroxidase(HRP,20%) was injected into the gastrocnemius muscle to retrogradely label the L_4 and L_5 nerve ganglions,as well as neurons in the anterior horn of the spinal cord,in the three groups.Positive expression of nestin, NSE,GFAP,and S-100 were determined using an immunofluorescence double-labeling method. RESULTS:NTCSCs differentiated into neuronal-like cells and glial-like cells within 12 weeks after NTCSC engineered nerve transplantation.HRP retrograde tracing displayed a large amount of HRP-labeled neurons in L_(4-5) nerve ganglions,as well as the anterior horn of the spinal cord,in both the autograft nerve transplantation and the NTCSC engineered nerve transplantation groups. However,few HRP-labeled neurons were detected in the blank nerve scaffold transplantation group. Nerve bridges in the autograft nerve transplantation and NTCSC engineered nerve transplantation groups exhibited similar morphology to normal nerves.Neither fractures or broken nerve bridges nor neuromas were found after bridging the sciatic nerve gap with NTCSCs-inoculated acellular nerve graft,indicating repair.Conduction latency,action potential,and conduction velocity in the NTCSC engineered nerve transplantation group were identical to the autograft nerve transplantation group (P>0.05),but significantly different from the blank nerve scaffold transplantation group(P<0.05). 5Gate-tunable large-scale flexible monolayer MoS_(2)devices for photodetectors and optoelectronic synapses显示文摘Photodetectors and optoelectronic synapses are vital for construction of artificial visual perception system.However,the hardware implementations of optoelectronic-neuromorphic devices based on conventional architecture usually suffer from poor scalability,light response range,and limited functionalities.Here,large-scale flexible monolayer MoS_(2)devices integrating photodetectors and optoelectronic synapses over the entire visible spectrum in one device have been realized,which can be used in photodetection,optical communication,artificial visual perception system,and optical artificial neural network.By modulating gate voltages,we enable MoS_(2)-based devices to be photodetectors and also optoelectronic synapses.Importantly,the MoS_(2)-based optoelectronic synapses could implement many synaptic functions and neuromorphic characteristics,such as short-term memory(STM),long-term memory(LTM),paired-pulse facilitation(PPF),long-term potentiation(LTP)/long-term depression(LTD),and“learning-experience”behavior.Furthermore,an associative learning behavior(the classical conditioning Pavlov’s dog experiment)was emulated using paired stimulation of optical and voltage pulses.These results facilitate the development of MoS_(2)-based multifunctional optoelectronic devices with a simple device structure,showing great potential for photodetection,optoelectronic neuromorphic computing,human visual systems mimicking,as well as wearable and implantable electronics.Na Li Congli He Qinqin Wang Jianshi Tang Qingtian Zhang Cheng Shen Jian Tang Heyi Huang Shuopei Wang Jiawei Li Biying Huang Zheng Wei Yutuo Guo Jiahao Yuan Wei Yang Rong Yang Dongxia Shi Guangyu Zhang 2022Nano Research2022,15,6:1
6A novel α-fetoprotein-MIP immunosensor based on AuNPs/PTh modified glass carbon electrode显示文摘A new α-fetoprotein-MIP(AFP-MIP) immunosensor based on glass carbon electrode(GCE) modified with polythionine(PTh) and gold nanoparticles(AuNPs) was successfully fabricated for sensitive detection ofα-fetoprotein(AFP). Through controlling electropolymerization, A 'polydopamine(PDA)-AFP' complex was achieved applying AFP as template and dopamine(DA) as imprinted monomers. After elution, the specific cavities can adsorb the target molecules. Using differential pulse voltammetry(DPV) detection,the peak current decreased with the increase in concentration of AFP, and the linear response range of the AFP-MIP immunosensor was from 0.001 ng/mL to 800 ng/mL with the detection limit as low as0.8138 pg/mL. 10Autocatalytic reduction-assisted synthesis of segmented porous PtTe nanochains for enhancing methanol oxidation reaction显示文摘Morphology engineering has been developed as one of the most widely used strategies for improving the performance of electrocatalysts.However,the harsh reaction conditions and cumbersome reaction steps during the nanomaterials synthesis still limit their industrial applications.Herein,one-dimensional(1D)novel-segmented PtTe porous nanochains(PNCs)were successfully synthesized by the template methods assisted by Pt autocatalytic reduction.The PtTe PNCs consist of consecutive mesoporous architectures that provide a large electrochemical surface area(ECSA)and abundant active sites to enhance methanol oxidation reaction(MOR).Furthermore,1D nanostructure as a robust sustaining frame can maintain a high mass/charge transfer rate in a long-term durability test.After 2,000 cyclic voltammetry(CV)cycles,the ECSA value of PtTe PNCs remained as high as 44.47 m^(2)·gPt^(-1),which was much larger than that of commercial Pt/C(3.95 m^(2)·gPt^(-1)).The high catalytic activity and durability of PtTe PNCs are also supported by CO stripping test and density functional theory calculation.This autocatalytic reduction-assisted synthesis provides new insights for designing efficient low-dimensional nanocatalysts.Qiqi Zhang Tianyu Xia He Huang Jialong Liu Mengyuan Zhu Hao Yu Weifeng Xu Yuping Huo Congli He Shipeng Shen Cong Lu Rongming Wang Shouguo Wang 2023Nano Research Energy2023,2,1:1

12Phosphorus-doping-tuned PtNi concave nanocubes with high-index facets for enhanced methanol oxidation reaction显示文摘Surface engineering has been found to be an efficient strategy to boost the catalytic performance of noble-metal-based nanocatalysts.In this work,a small amount of P was doped to the surface of PtNi concave cube(P-PtNi CNC).Interestingly,the P-PtNi CNC nanocatalyst shows an enhanced methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)performance with achieving 8.19 times of specific activity than that of comercial Pt/C.The electrochemical in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)results reveal that the surface P doping promotes the adsorption energy of OH,enhancing the resistance against CO poisoning.Therefore,the intermediate adsorbed CO(COads)reacted with adsorbed OH(OHads)through the Langmuir–Hinshelwood(LH)mechanism to generate CO_(2)and release surface active sites for further adsorption.This work provides a promising strategy via the incorporation of non-metallic elements into the PtNi alloys bounded with high-index facets(HIFs)as efficient fuel cell catalysts.Aixin Fan Congli Qin Ruxia Zhao Haixiao Sun Hui Sun Xiaoping Dai Jin-Yu Ye Shi-Gang Sun Yanhong Lu Xin Zhang 2022Nano Research2022,15,8:1
13Novel method for the visual navigation path detection of jujube harvester autopilot based on image processing显示文摘To realize automatic harvesting of the jujube,the jujube harvester was designed and manufactured.For achieving the jujube harvester autopilot,a novel algorithm for visual navigation path detection was proposed.The centerline of tree row lines was taken as the navigation path.The method included four main parts:image preprocessing,image segmentation,tree row lines access,and navigation path access.The methods of threshold segmentation,noise removal,and border smoothing were utilized on the image in Lab color space for the image segmentation.The least square method was employed to fit the tree row lines,and the centerline was obtained as the navigation path.Experimental results indicated that the average false detection rate was 3.98%,and the average detection speed was 41 fps.The algorithm meets the requirements of the jujube harvester autopilot in terms of accuracy and speed.It also can lay the foundation for accomplishing the jujube harvester vision-based autopilot.Xiongchu Zhang Bingqi Chen Jingbin Li Xin Fang Congli Zhang Shubo Peng Yongzheng Li 2023International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,5:0
14Inhibitory effect of electro-acupuncture on apoptosis after spinal cord injury显示文摘BACKGROUND: Acupuncture and electro-acupuncture (EA) as complementary and alternative medicine have been applied for neurological recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI), but the mechanism of treatment is unclear yet. OBJECTIVE: To examine and compare the effects of EA with methylprednisolone (MP) on apoptosis and expression of caspase-3 mRNA and protein in early SCI, in an attempt to provide experimental clues for clinical use of EA in the treatment of early SCI. DESIGN: A randomized control trial. SETTING: Department of Anatomy, Second Military Medical University of Chinese PLA. MATERIALS: Forty-eight adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats aged 12 weeks and weighing (250±20) g were used. The experimental procedures were performed in accordance with the animal care guidelines of the National Institute of Health (NIH). Equipments and medicine: Methylprednisolone sodium succinate (Pharmacia & Upjohn N.V./S.A., Puurs, Belgium); sodium pentobarbital (Sigma Chemical Co., St. Louis, MO); G-6805-2 Multi-Purpose Health Device (Shanghai Medical Instruments High-TECH Co., Shanghai, China); POD kit (Roche Molecular Biochemicals, Mannheim, Germany); ISH Detection Kit (Wuhan Boster Biological Technology Ltd., Wuhan, China); ABC kit (Vector Laboratories, Burlingame, CA); light microscope (×200, Olympus, Tokyo, Japan); HPIAS-1000 color High-definition pathological image analysis system (Qianping Imaging Engineering Company of Wuhan Tongji Medical University). METHODS: The experiment was carried out in Department of Anatomy, Second Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between October 2004 and March 2006. ① The SCI model was established by modified Allen’s method on T10. The force applied in traumatization was 50 g·cm. ② Forty-eight SD rats were equally randomized into four groups: sham operation (SO) group, in which animals received laminectomy only; model control (MC) group as a negative control, in which animals did not receive any treatment; EA treatment (EA) group, in which animals were treated with electro-acupuncture immediately after SCI, and MP treatment (MP) group, in which animals were treated with 30 mg/kg methylprednisolone sodium succinate through the tail vein immediately after SCI. Electro-acupuncture treatment was performed for EA group at 8 hours and 20 hours after SCI. The needles were inserted at a depth about 5-6 mm into the locus of the Dazhui and Mingmen. Asymmetric waves were used for electro-acupuncture at a stimulating frequency of 1 Hz. The total duration of EA stimulation was 30 minutes. ③ Six rats of each group were sacrificed at 6 hours and 24 hours after SCI. A 1.5 cm segment of the spinal cord encompassing the injury site was removed and prepared for experiment. ④ Cellular apoptosis was observed by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TDT)-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate (dUTP)-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) method. Expression of caspase-3 mRNA and protein were estimated by in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry and imaging analysis. ⑤ Measurement data among groups were compared with one-way analysis of variance and differences between groups were compared with q test. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The effect of electro-acupuncture on TUNEL-positive cells, the expression of caspase-3 mRNA and protein. RESULTS: The forty-eight rats were involved in the final experiment. ① TUNEL-positive cells: TUNEL-positive cells in MP group and EA group were 29.00±8.27 and 30.17±6.85, respectively, at 6 hours after SCI; and were 1.00±0.89, 60.17±7.83, 6.67±3.56; 1.17±1.17, 69.50±8.50, 9.67±4.97, respectively at tip, intermediate zone and end of spinal cord at 24 hours after SCI; which were less than those in MC group (47.17±11.12, 9.33±4.76, 92.00±11.14, 22.50±5.43, P < 0.01). Cells in MP group were close to those in EA group (P > 0.05). ② Expression of positive caspase-3 mRNA: At 6 hours after SCI, numbers of positive caspase-3 mRNA were 133.33±11.84, 117.17±11.70, 120.00±10.73, respectively in MC, MP and EA groups, which were more than those in SO groups (83.50±8.64, P < 0.01). At 24 hours after SCI, numbers of positive caspase-3 mRNA were 121.50±11.34, 96.16±8.18, 97.67±9.69, respectively in MC, MP and EA groups, which were more than those in SO groups (83.50±9.64, P < 0.05-0.01). Numbers in MP group were close to those in EA group but less than those in MC group (P < 0.05-0.01). ③ Expression of caspase-3 protein: Numbers in MC and MP groups were close to those in EA group (12.83±2.86, 10.00±3.58, 10.50±3.62) at 6 hours after SCI; numbers in MP and EA groups were 11.00±4.43 and 12.17±3.43 at 24 hours after SCI, which were less than those in MC group (17.83±4.92, P < 0.01, 0.05). 16Electrocoagulation coupled with electrooxidation for the simultaneous treatment of multiple pollutants in contaminated sediments显示文摘In situ and simultaneous remediation of a variety of pollutants in sediments remains a challenge.In this study,we report that the combination of electrocoagulation(EC)and electrooxidation(EO)is efficient in the immobilization of phosphorus and heavymetals and in the oxidation of ammonium and toxic organicmatter.The integratedmixed metal oxide(MMO)/Fe anode system allowed the facile removal of ammonium and phosphorus in the overlying water(99% of 10 mg/L NH_(4)^(+)-N and 95% of 10 mg/L P disappeared in 15 and 30 min,respectively).Compared with the controls of the single Fe anode and single MMO anode systems,the dual MMO/Fe anode system significantly improved the removal of phenanthrene and promoted the transition of Pb and Cu from the mobile species to the immobile species.The concentrations of Pb and Cu in the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure extracts were reduced by 99%and 97% after an 8 hr operation.Further tests with four real polluted samples indicated that substantial proportions of acid-soluble fraction Pb and Cu were reduced(30%-31% for Pb and 16%–23% for Cu),and the amounts of total organic carbon and NH_(4)^(+)-N decreased by 56%–71% and 32%–63%,respectively.It was proposed that the in situ electrogenerated Fe(II)at the Fe anode and the active oxygen/chlorine species at the MMO anode are conducive to outstanding performance in the co-treatment of multiple pollutants.The results suggest that the EC/EO method is a powerful technology for the in situ remediation of sediments contaminated with different pollutants.Qingjun Zeng Yifan Zhang Pingshan Chen Yuting He Congli Yi Chunhua Feng 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,2:0
17A novel method of automatic peeling for Poria cocos based on image processing显示文摘Manual peeling of Poria cocos has low efficiency and large loss,and other peeling methods are not suitable for Poria cocos peeling.To solve this problem,this study designed and fabricated a set of automatic peeling equipment for Poria cocos,which combined image processing technology with the structure and function of the vertical milling machine.This paper mainly reports the image detection algorithm of Poria cocos epidermis position for automatic peeling.Firstly,the blue marks were glued to the movable and the immovable parts of clamping parts,and the initial window was determined through them.Then,the grayscale image within the initial window was obtained with the help of the chromatic aberration|2r-g-b|(red(r),green(g),blue(b)of pixels).The processing window was calculated with the aid of the distribution graph of the grayscale accumulation.Next,the grayscale image was taken into the process of the automatic binarization based on the Otsu method and the binary image was restored through dilation,erosion and denoising algorithm.Finally,pixel columns in the processing window were scanned column-by-column from the left to the right and the direction of each pixel column is from the bottom to the top.The first pixel with a value of 0 on each pixel column was set as the epidermis position of the current pixel column.The experiment results implied that,under the set light source,the average detection accuracy was 98.8%,and the average time to detect epidermis position once was 0.024 s.The detection accuracy and real-time performance of this algorithm meets the actual operation requirements of Poria cocos peeling.It lays the foundation for the automatic peeling operation of Poria cocos.Xiongchu Zhang Bingqi Chen Zhi'an Zheng Wenjie Wang Xin Fang Congli Zhang 2023International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,2:0
