1Ulva prolifera green-tide outbreaks and their environmental impact in the Yellow Sea, China显示文摘The Ulva prolifera green tides in the Yellow Sea, China, which have been occurring since 2007, are a serious environmental problem attracting worldwide attention. Despite extensive research, the outbreak mechanisms have not been fully understood. Comprehensive analysis of anthropogenic and natural biotic and abiotic factors reveals that human activities, regional physicochemical conditions and algal physiological characteristics as well as ocean warming and biological interactions(with microorganism or other macroalgae) are closely related to the occurrence of green tides. Dynamics of these factors and their interactions could explain why green tides suddenly occurred in 2007 and decreased abruptly in 2017.Moreover, the consequence of green tides is serious. The decay of macroalgal biomass could result in hypoxia and acidification, possibly induce red tide and even have a long-lasting impact on coastal carbon cycles and the ecosystem. 3Coupling analysis of social-economic water consumption and its effects on the arid environments in Xinjiang of China based on the water and ecological footprints显示文摘In arid areas,ecological degradation aroused by over-exploitation of fresh water,expansion of artificial oasis and shrinkage of natural oasis,has drawn attention of many scholars and officials.The water and ecological footprints can be used to quantitatively evaluate the water consumption of social-economic activities and their influence on the eco-environments.In addition,increase of the water footprint indicates the expansion of artificial oasis,and the influence on the natural oasis could be reflected by the variation of the ecological footprint.This study was conducted to answer a scientific question that what is the quantitative relationship between the expansion of the artificial oasis and the degradation of the natural oasis in the arid environments of Xinjiang,China.Thus,based on the social-economic data,water consumption data and meteorological data during 2001–2015,we calculated the water and ecological footprints to express the human-related pressure exerted on the water resources and arid environments in Xinjiang(including 14 prefectures and cities),and explore the relationship between the water and ecological footprints and its mechanism by using the coupling analysis and Granger causality test.The results show that both the water and ecological footprints of Xinjiang increased significantly during 2001–2015,and the increasing rate of the ecological footprint was much faster than that of the water footprint.The coupling degree between the water and ecological footprints was relatively high at the temporal scale and varied at the spatial scale.Among the 14 prefectures and cities examined in Xinjiang,the greater social-economic development(such as in Karamay and Urumqi)was associated with the lower coupling degree between the two footprints.Increases in the water footprint will cause the ecological footprint to increase,such that a 1-unit increase in the consumption of water resources would lead to 2–3 units of ecological degradation.The quantitative relationship between the increases of the water and ecological footprints,together with the intensities of water consumption both in the natural and artificial oases of Tarim River Basin,have approved the fact that the formation and expansion of 1 unit of the artificial oasis would bring about the degradation of 2 units of the natural oasis.These conclusions not only provide a technical basis for sustainable development in Xinjiang,but also offer a theoretical guide and scientific information that could be used in similar arid areas around the world.ZHANG Pei DENG Mingjiang LONG Aihua DENG Xiaoya WANG Hao HAI Yang WANG Jie LIU Yundong 2020Journal of Arid Land2020,12,1:8

5Tracing the settlement region of massive floating green algae in the Yellow Sea显示文摘Outbreaks of large-scale green tides formed by Ulva prolifera in the Yellow Sea (YS) cause heavy ecological damages and huge economic losses. However, the ecological consequences of green tides remain poorly understood due to the lack of knowledge on the settlement region of massive green algae floating in the YS. In this study, we established a method to trace the settlement region of floating green algae, using 28-isofucosterol preserved in sediment as the specific biomarker for green algae. Sterols including 28-isofucosterol in surface sediment samples collected during an investigation in the YS and the Bohai Sea (BS) in August 2015 were analyzed using gas chromatography coupled with a mass spectrometer (GC-MS). Based on the content of 28-isofucosterol in sediment samples, the potential settlement region of fl oating green algae was identifi ed in the sea area southeast to the Shandong Peninsula around the sampling site H06 (122.66°E, 36.00°N). 6Microwave-assisted conversion of biomass wastes to pseudocapacitive mesoporous carbon for high-performance supercapacitor显示文摘Developing an efficient approach of transforming biomass waste to functional carbon-based electrode materials applied in supercapacitor offers an important and high value-added practical application due to the abundance and considerable low price of biomass wastes.Herein,a hierarchical carbon functionalized with electrochemical-active oxygen-containing groups was fabricated by microwave treatment from the biomass waste of camellia oleifera.The obtained mesoporous carbon(MAC)owns nanosheet morphology,rich mesoporosity,large surface area(1726 m2/g)and very high oxygenic functionalities(16.2 wt%)with pseudocapacitive activity.Prepared electrode of supercapacitor and tested in 2.0 M H2 SO4,the MAC exhibits an obvious pseudocapacitive activity and achieved a superior supercapacitive performance to that of directly activated carbon(DAC-800)including high specific capacitance(367 F/g vs.298 F/g)and better rate performance(66%vs.44%).The symmetrical supercapacitor based on MAC shows a high capacity of275 F/g,large energy density of 9.55 Wh/kg(at power density of 478 W/kg)and excellent cycling stability with 99%capacitance retention after 10000 continuous charge-discharge,endowing the obtained MAC a promising functional material for electrochemical energy storage.Xiangkun Bo Kun Xiang Yu Zhang Yu Shen Shanyong Chen Yongzheng Wang Mingjiang Xie Xuefeng Guo 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,12:6

8SO2 Emission Characteristics and BP Neural Networks Prediction in MSW/Coal Co-Fired Fluidized Beds显示文摘The SO_2 emission characteristics of typical MSW components and their mixtures have been investigated in aΦ150mm fluidized bed.Some influencing factors of SO_2 emission in MSW fluidized bed incinerator were foundout in this study.The SO2 emission is increasing with the growth of the bed temperature,and it is rising with theincreasing oxygen concentration at furnace exit.When the weight percentage of auxiliary coal is being raised,theconversion rate of S to SO_2 is largely going up.The SO_2 emission decreases if the desulfurizing agent (CaCO_3) isadded during the incineration process,but the desulfurizing efficiency is weakened with the enhancement of thebed temperature.The fuel moisture content has a slight effect on the SO_2 emission. 10Tet2 Regulates Osteoclast Differentiation by Interacting with Runx1 and Maintaining Genomic 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine(5hmC)显示文摘As a dioxygenase, Ten-Eleven Translocation 2(TET2) catalyzes subsequent steps of 5-methylcytosine(5 mC) oxidation. TET2 plays a critical role in the self-renewal, proliferation,and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells, but its impact on mature hematopoietic cells is not well-characterized. Here we show that Tet2 plays an essential role in osteoclastogenesis. Deletion of Tet2 impairs the differentiation of osteoclast precursor cells(macrophages) and their maturation into bone-resorbing osteoclasts in vitro. Furthermore, Tet2^(-/-) mice exhibit mild osteopetrosis, accompanied by decreased number of osteoclasts in vivo. Tet2 loss in macrophages results in the altered expression of a set of genes implicated in osteoclast differentiation, such as Cebpa, Mafb, and Nfkbiz. Tet2 deletion also leads to a genome-wide alteration in the level of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine(5 hmC) and altered expression of a specific subset of macrophage genes associated with osteoclast differentiation. Furthermore, Tet2 interacts with Runx1 and negatively modulates its transcriptional activity. Our studies demonstrate a novel molecular mechanism controlling osteoclast differentiation and function by Tet2, that is, through interactions with Runx1 and the maintenance of genomic 5 hmC. 11Low phosphorus promotes NSP1–NSP2 heterodimerization to enhance strigolactone biosynthesis and regulate shoot and root architecture in rice显示文摘Phosphorus is an essential macronutrient for plant development and metabolism,and plants have evolved ingenious mechanisms to overcome phosphate(Pi)starvation.However,the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation of shoot and root architecture by low phosphorus conditions and the coordinated utilization of Pi and nitrogen remain largely unclear.Here,we show that Nodulation Signaling Pathway 1(NSP1)and NSP2 regulate rice tiller number by promoting the biosynthesis of strigolactones(SLs),a class of phytohormones with fundamental effects on plant architecture and environmental responses.We found that NSP1 and NSP2 are induced by Oryza sativa PHOSPHATE STARVATION RESPONSE2(OsPHR2)in response to low-Pi stress and form a complex to directly bind the promoters of SL biosynthesis genes,thus markedly increasing SL biosynthesis in rice.Interestingly,the NSP1/2–SL signaling module represses the expression of CROWN ROOTLESS 1(CRL1),a newly identified early SL-responsive gene in roots,to restrain lateral root density under Pi deficiency.We also demonstrated that GR24^(4DO) treatment under normal conditions inhibits the expression of OsNRTs and OsAMTs to suppress nitrogen absorption but enhances the expression of OsPTs to promote Pi absorption,thus facilitating the balance between nitrogen and phosphorus uptake in rice.Importantly,we found that NSP1p:NSP1 and NSP2p:NSP2 transgenic plants show improved agronomic traits and grain yield under low-and medium-phosphorus conditions.Taken together,these results revealed a novel regulatory mechanism of SL biosynthesis and signaling in response to Pi starvation,providing genetic resources for improving plant architecture and nutrient-use efficiency in low-Pi environments.Kun Yuan Hao Zhang Chaoji Yu Nan Luo Jijun Yan Shuang Zheng Qingliang Hu Dahan Zhang Liquan Kou Xiangbing Meng Yanhui Jing Mingjiang Chen Xinwei Ban Zongyun Yan Zefu Lu Jian Wu Yu Zhao Yan Liang Yonghong Wang Guosheng Xiong Jinfang Chu Ertao Wang Jiayang Li Bing Wang 2023Molecular Plant2023,16,11:2
12Proteomic and molecular investigations revealed that Acidithiobacillus caldus adopts multiple strategies for adaptation to NaCl stress显示文摘Acidithiobacillus caldus plays an important role in commercial bioleaching.To understand how NaCl stress adaptation occurs in A.caldus,we grew A.caldus strain SM-1 in media containing high NaCl concentrations.SM-1 grew at concentrations of up to 1.0-mol L^(-1)NaCl,but growth was severely inhibited at higher concentrations.Proteomic analysis showed that SM-1 used multiple strategies to respond to NaCl stress.In addition to several heatshock proteins,enzymes involved in proline biosynthesis increased under NaCl stress.In addition,two DNA-binding proteins and a third protein of unknown function(Atc_(1291)),which was subsequently identified as a putative single-stranded DNA-binding protein,were up-regulated in the presence of NaCl stress.These DNA-binding proteins might play a role in response to osmotic stress.Atc_(1291)was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli.Surprisingly,we found that E.coli BL21/pET28a-atc_(1291)grew to higher cell densities than E.coli BL21/pET28a,regardless of NaCI stress.Homologs to Atc_(1291)were identified in several groups of Proleohacleria.The role of Atc_(1291)in enhancing cell growth needs further investigation.Xu Guo Chengying Jiang Yuanming Luo Mingjiang Zhang Ansgar Poetsch Shuangjiang Liu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,3:2
13Full-faradaic-active nitrogen species doping enables high-energy-density carbon-based supercapacitor显示文摘Nitrogen doping is usually adopted in carbon based supercapacitor to enhance its relatively low energy density by providing extra pseudocapacity.However,the improvement of energy density is normally limited because the content of the introduced nitrogen species is not high and meanwhile only part of them is electrochemically active.Herein,we designed and fabricated a class of hierarchical nitrogen-rich porous carbons(HNPCs)possessing not only very high nitrogen content(up to 21.7 atom%)but also fully electrochemically active nitrogen species(i.e.,pyridinic N,pyrrolic N and oxidized N).Especially,in the synthesis of HNPCs,graphitic carbon nitride(g-C3N4)was used in situ not only as a nitrogen source but also as a catalyst to facilitate the polymerization of phenol and formaldehyde(as carbon precursor)and as a template to create the hierarchical porous structure.As electrodes for aqueous symmetric supercapacitor,the HNPCs with full faradaic-active nitrogen functionalities exhibit excellent supercapacitor performance:high energy density of 36.8 Wh/kg at 2.0 kW/kg(maintaining 25.7 Wh/kg at 38 kW/kg),superior rate capability with 78%capacitance retention from 1.0 to 20 A/g and excellent cycling stability with over95%capacitance retention after 10000 cycles,indicating their promising application potential in electrochemical energy storage.This novel carbon material with high-content and full electrochemically active nitrogen species may find extensive potential applications in the energy storage/conversion,catalysis,adsorption,and so on.Wei Wei Zhangjing Chen Yan Zhang Jian Chen Liu Wan Cheng Du Mingjiang Xie Xuefeng Guo 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,9:2
14The effect of the causative algae of large-scale HAB in the East China Sea on egg hatching of Argopecten irradians, and population growth of Brachionus plicatilis and Moina mongolica显示文摘The impacts of Prorocentrum donghaiense Lu and Alexandrium catenella Balech, causative species of the large-scale HAB in the East China Sea, were studied under laboratory conditions. According to bloom densities, the effects of monoculture and mixture of the two species were examined on the egg-hatching success of Argopecten irradians Lamarck, and the population growth of Brachionus plicatilis Müller and Moina mongolica Daday. The results showed that monoculture of A. catenella had a significant inhibition on the egg hatching success of A. irradians, and the population growth of B. plicatilis and M. mongolica. The median effective densities (ED_50) inhibiting the egg hatching success of A. irradians for 24 h and the population growth of B. plicatilis and M. mongolica for 96 h were 800, 630, and 2 400 cells/cm3, respectively. Monoculture of P. donghaiense has no such inhibitory effect on the egg hatching success of A. irradians; P. donghaiense at lower suitable densities could sustain the population growth of B. plicatilis (1×104~3×104cells/cm3) and M. mongolica (2×104~5×104cells/cm3); P. donghaiense at higher densities had significantly adverse effect on the population growth of B. plicatilis (4×104~10×104cells/cm3) and M. mongolica (10×104cells/cm3). When the two algae were mixed according to bloom densities, P. donghaiense at suitable densities to some extent could decrease the toxicity of A. catenella to B. plicatilis and M. mongolica. 15The unified ideal model of mean motion resonance of artificial satellites due to geopotential perturbations显示文摘From Kaula's Earth gravitational potential written in classical orbital elements, the unified ideal model of mean motion resonance of artificial satellites due to geopotential perturbations is developed in this paper first, through a suitable sequence of canonical transformations constructed by implicit functions. This unified ideal orbital resonance model is valid for all the commensurabilities between the rotational angular velocity of the Earth and the angular velocities of mean orbital motion of artificial satellites with arbitrary inclination and small eccentricity, and can be also transformed into Garfinkel's general expression of ideal resonance problem. Then 1/1 resonance of the 24-hour satellite with arbitrary inclination and small eccentricity is analyzed under the effect of harmonics of J2 and J 22 of the geopotential, based on the unified ideal model of mean motion resonance. 16Adjacent acid sites cooperatively catalyze fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in a new, facile pathway显示文摘To study the effect of adjacent hydroxyl to the active sites, several acid catalysts, i.e. substituted benzoic acids with adjacent carboxyl are employed in the fructose dehydration to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF).Experimental results reveal that Br?nsted acid sites with adjacent carboxyl present higher catalytic ability than isolated ones. Computational results suggest that the adjacent sites lead to co-interaction on fructose, corresponding more stable transition state and faster HMF formation rate. 17Health Monitoring of Long-Haul Fiber Communication System Using Chaotic OTDR显示文摘A novel chaotic optical time-domain reflectometry(OTDR)-based approach was proposed for monitoring long-haul fiber communication systems with multiple fiber segments. The self-phase modulation and group velocity dispersion effects of the optical cable was considered in demonstrating the proof-of-concept experiment and simulation. In experiments, the correlation peaks are clearly obtained from the correlation trace between the reference and reflected(or scattered) light signals propagating in three optical-fiber segments. The technique affords a high spatial resolution of 2 m, and further long-haul fiber simulations indicate that the sensing distance can be more than 3300 km.
