| 3 | Stretching characteristics and its dynamic significance of the northern continental margin of South China Sea显示文摘To investigate the thinning of the whole crust, and the contribution of the upper versus lower crust to the stretching since Cenozoic, we calculated the stretching factor of the northern margin of South China Sea with data such as whole crustal thickness, depth of Cenozoic sedimentary basement and the horizontal displacement of faults. An isometric line drawing on whole crustal stretching factor is then obtained. Along the seismic Line 1530 in Baiyun sag, we also calculated the stretching factors of the upper and lower crust. The results suggest that the whole crustal thickness decreases seaward while the whole crustal stretching factor increases from shelf to slope. The Moho upwells highest beneath where the crust is thinned most. The value of the whole crustal stretching factor ranges from 1.5 to 6. Two areas were thinned intensely: the center of Yinggehai Basin, and the Baiyun sag in the Pearl River Mouth Basin. The calculation of the upper and lower crustal stretching factors from DSP1530 in Baiyun sag shows that the original crust of Baiyun sag should be thinned before deformation. | 5 | Protective Effect of Resveratrol on the Brain in a Rat Model of Epilepsy显示文摘Accumulating evidence has suggested resveratrol as a promising drug candidate for the treatment of epilepsy. To validate this, we tested the protective effect of resveratrol on a kainic acid(KA)-induced epilepsy model in rats and investigated the underlying mechanism. We found that acute resveratrol application partially inhibited evoked epileptiform discharges in the hippocampal CA1 region. During acute, silent and chronic phases of epilepsy,the expression of hippocampal kainate glutamate receptor(GluK2) and the GABAAreceptor alpha1 subunit(GABAAR-alpha1) was up-regulated and down-regulated,respectively. Resveratrol reversed these effects and induced an antiepileptic effect. Furthermore, in the chronic phase, resveratrol treatment inhibited the KA-induced increased glutamate/GABA ratio in the hippocampus. | 6 | Buried straw layer and plastic mulching increase microflora diversity in salinized soil显示文摘Salt stress has been increasingly constraining crop productivity in arid lands of the world. In our recent study, salt stress was alleviated and crop productivity was improved remarkably by straw layer burial plus plastic film mulching in a saline soil. However, its impact on the microflora diversity is not well documented. Field micro-plot experiments were conducted from 2010 to 2011 using four tillage methods:(i) deep tillage with plastic film mulching(CK),(ii) straw layer burial at 40 cm(S),(iii) straw layer burial plus surface soil mulching with straw material(S+S), and(iv) plastic film mulching plus buried straw layer(P+S). Culturable microbes and predominant bacterial communities were studied; based on 16 S r DNA, bacterial community structure and abundance were characterized using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE) and polymerase chain reaction(PCR). Results showed that P+S was the most favorable for culturable bacteria, actinomyces and fungi and induced the most diverse genera of bacteria compared to other tillage methods. Soil temperature had significant positive correlations with the number of bacteria, actinomyces and fungi(P<0.01). However, soil water was poorly correlated with any of the microbes. Salt content had a significant negative correlation with the number of microbers, especially for bacteria and fungi(P<0.01). DGGE analysis showed that the P+S exhibited the highest diversity of bacteria with 20 visible bands followed by S+S, S and CK. Moreover, P+S had the highest similarity(68%) of bacterial communities with CK. The major bacterial genera in all soil samples were Firmicutes, Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria. | 7 | Malnutrition in Relation with Dietary, Geographical, and Socioeconomic Factors among Older Chinese显示文摘Objective Nutrition is closely related to the health of the elderly population. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive picture of the nutrition status of elderly Chinese and its related dietary,geographical, and socioeconomic factors.Methods A total of 13,987 ≥ 60-year-old persons from the 2010–2013 Chinese National Nutrition and Health Survey were included to evaluate various aspects of malnutrition, including underweight,overweight or obesity, and micronutrient inadequacy.Results Overall, the prevalence of obesity, overweight, and underweight was 12.4%, 34.8%, and 5.7%,respectively, with disparities both geographically and socioeconomically. The prevalence of underweight was higher among the older old(≥ 75 years), rural residents and those with low income, with low education status, and residing in undeveloped West areas. More than 75% of the elderly do not meet the Dietary Reference Intakes for vitamins A, B1, B2, and E, folate, calcium, selenium, potassium, biotin,and choline, with the prevalence of inadequate intake increasing with age for most nutrients. | 8 | Distributed Vibration Sensor With Laser Phase-Noise Immunity by Phase-Extraction φ-OTDR显示文摘We have demonstrated a distributed vibration sensor based on phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometer (φ-OTDR) system exhibiting immunity to the laser phase noise. Two laser sources with different linewidth and phase noise levels are used in the φ-OTDR system, respectively. Based on the phase noise power spectrum density of both lasers, the laser phase is almost unchanged during an extremely short period of time, hence, the impact of phase noise can be suppressed effectively through phase difference between the Rayleigh scattered light from two adjacent sections of the fiber which define the gauge length. Based on the phase difference method, the external vibration can be located accurately at 41.01 km by the(φ-OTDR system incorporating these two lasers. Meanwhile, the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the retrieved vibration signal by using Laser I is found to be -37.7 dB, which is comparable to that of -37.5 dB by using Laser II although the linewidth and the phase noise level of the two lasers are distinct. | 14 | Prevalence of Undernutrition and Related Dietary Factors among People Aged 75 Years or Older in China during 2010-2012显示文摘Objective Undernutrition is highly prevalent among older people. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of undernutrition in elderly Chinese residents and explore the relationship between undernutrition and dietary factors. Methods Data were collected from 2,552 elderly people aged 75 years and over from the Chinese Nutrition and Health Surveillance during 2010-2012 using questionnaires, anthropometric measurement, and individual consecutive 3-day 24-hour dietary records. Results The present study showed that 10.5% of participants had undernutrition. The prevalence was higher among the population living in rural areas, those living in the South region, those who smoked, and those with low income levels. Most participants failed to meet the Chinese Dietary Reference Intakes for energy(66.1%) and protein(72.1%). When comparing quartiles of food intake, high rice consumption [odds ratio(OR) = 2.44, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.35-4.40)], animal oil intake(OR = 1.60, 95% CI: 1.18-2.17), and high fat intake from animal sources(OR = 1.56, 95% CI: 1.06-2.31) were positively associated with underweight whereas high wheat consumption(OR = 0.44, 95% CI: 0.26-0.74), a proper proportion(24%-32%) of energy intake from fat(OR = 0.54, 95% CI: 0.35-0.83), and high fat intake from plant sources(OR = 0.67, 95% CI: 0.46-0.99) were inversely related.Conclusion The prevalence of undernutrition was high among elderly Chinese people, especially in rural areas. | 17 | The relationship between extension of lower crust and displacement of the shelf break显示文摘With deep sea petroleum explorations become more and more popular,some geological phenomena have emerged:extension of lower crust and upper crust is inhomogeneous;shelf break has been moved rapidly after crustal stretching.These geological phenomena are important to the continental margin evolution.To investigate the thinning of the whole crust and the contribution of the upper crust versus the lower crust to the crustal stretching since the Cenozoic,we calculated the stretching factors of the upper and the lower crust based on the 13 seismic lines in the Baiyun Sag from CNOOC.The results indicated that the whole crustal thickness decreases seaward while the whole crustal stretching factor increases from shelf to slope.Our calculations showed that the lower crustal stretching factor is higher than that of the upper crust in the Baiyun Sag.In the Cenozoic,deformation of the Baiyun Sag is controlled mainly by ductile shearing rather than brittle shearing.Based on the numerical modeling,we can conclude the initial crust in the Baiyun Sag is thermally attenuated.The stretching factor(β)of the lower crust increases from the north to the south of the continental margin,indicating two stretching centers:the Baiyun Sag and the Liwan Sag.The geometry of the shelf break and theβisoline trap have the similar trend in 23.8 and 13.8 Ma,both located in the intense deforming zone of the lower crust,and therefore we conclude the stretching and flowing of the lower crust cause the displacement of the shelf break before and after 23.8 Ma. | ZHANG YunFan SUN Zhen PANG Xiong | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,3: | 2 |

| 19 | Online Optimization in Power Systems With High Penetration of Renewable Generation:Advances and Prospects显示文摘Traditionally,offline optimization of power systems is acceptable due to the largely predictable loads and reliable generation.The increasing penetration of fluctuating renewable generation and internet-of-things devices allowing for fine-grained controllability of loads have led to the diminishing applicability of offline optimization in the power systems domain,and have redirected attention to online optimization methods.However,online optimization is a broad topic that can be applied in and motivated by different settings,operated on different time scales,and built on different theoretical foundations.This paper reviews the various types of online optimization techniques used in the power systems domain and aims to make clear the distinction between the most common techniques used.In particular,we introduce and compare four distinct techniques used covering the breadth of online optimization techniques used in the power systems domain,i.e.,optimization-guided dynamic control,feedback optimization for single-period problems,Lyapunov-based optimization,and online convex optimization techniques for multi-period problems.Lastly,we recommend some potential future directions for online optimization in the power systems domain. | Zhaojian Wang Wei Wei John Zhen Fu Pang Feng Liu Bo Yang Xinping Guan Shengwei Mei | 2023 | IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2023,10,4: | 2 |
