1Serum macrophage migration inhibitory factor as a potential biomarker to evaluate therapeutic response in patients with allergic asthma:an exploratory study显示文摘Background:Previous studies have shown that macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)is involved in the pathogenesis of asthma.This study aimed to investigate whether serum MIF reflects a therapeutic response in allergic asthma.Methods:We enrolled 30 asthmatic patients with mild-to-moderate exacerbations and 20 healthy controls,analyzing the parameter levels of serum MIF,serum total immunoglobulin E(tIgE),peripheral blood eosinophil percentage(EOS%),and fractional exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO).Lung function indices were used to identify disease severity and therapeutic response.Results:Our study showed that all measured parameters in patients were at higher levels than those of controls.After one week of treatment,most parameter levels decreased significantly except for serum tIgE.Furthermore,we found that serum MIF positively correlated with EOS%as well as FeNO,but negatively correlated with lung function indices.Receiver operator characteristic(ROC)curve analysis indicated that among the parameters,serum MIF exhibited a higher capacity to evaluate therapeutic response.The area under the curve(AUC)of MIF was 0.931,with a sensitivity of 0.967 and a specificity of 0.800.Conclusions:Our results suggested that serum MIF may serve as a potential biomarker for evaluating therapeutic response in allergic asthma with mild-to-moderate exacerbations.Huiyuan ZHU Shaochun YAN Jingshuo WU Zhong ZHANG Xiaolin LI Zheng LIU Xing MA Lina ZHOU Lin ZHANG Mingming FENG Yiwei GENG Aixin ZHANG Sabina JANCIAUSKIENE Aiguo XU 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,6:3

5Effects of hydrothermal temperature on formation and decoloration characteristics of anatase TiO_2 nanoparticles显示文摘This paper describes the effects of temperature on the complex intermediate processes from the precursor to the fully-crystallized anatase TiO2 nanoparticles in hydrothermal synthesis. The anatase TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized in a wide temperature range below 230°C. The composition, morphology, and methylene blue (MB) decoloration characteristics of the obtained products were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscope, and scanning and transmission electron microscope. The dehydrating polycondensation of Ti(IV)-hydrates and the decomposition of (NH4)2Ti3O7 intermediates with the temperature increase lead to the direct formation of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles under the hydrothermal environments. 8Intron Retention Fine-Tunes the Resistance of the Rice Mutant pls4 to Rice Sheath Blight(Rhizotonia solani AG I.1a)显示文摘OsPLS4 encodes aβ-ketoacyl carrier protein reductase(KAR).The role of OsPLS4 in rice sheath blight(Rhizoctonia solani)remains unclear.Our preliminary studies showed that premature leaf senescence mutants(pls4)were highly susceptive to sheath blight in the early stage of rice development.To explore the role of this gene in the development of rice sheath blight,the transcriptome profiles of the rice pls4 mutant and wild type were compared by RNA-seq.The results revealed 2,569 differentially expressed genes(DEGs).The down-regulated genes were significantly enriched in the defense response-related biological processes.These down-regulated genes included the chitinase genes and WRKY genes,which were significantly changed in pls4 mutants.Furthermore,467 genes induced significant alternative splicing(AS)events.Among them,intron retention(IR)affected gene expression levels and functions of the vitamin B6(VB6)metabolism pathway related to sheath blight.This result suggests that IR plays an important role in the sheath blight resistance of mutant pls4.Together,these results indicate that pls4 could be involved in the biological process of sheath blight via DEGs and the fine-tuning of IR.The present study provides a molecular basis for further investigation of the resistance of rice to sheath blight.Shaochun Liu Jiamin Hu Haohua He Junru Fu Xu Jie Dahu Zhou Haihui Fu 2023Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2023,92,7:0
9MOFs derived ZnSe/N-doped carbon nanosheets as multifunctional interlayers for ultralong-Life lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘The shuttle effect and slow conversion rate of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)have become the main obstructs to the development of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries.Herein,the low cost metal-organic frameworks derived nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets embedded with zinc selenide nanoparticles(ZnSe/NC nanosheets)were designed and synthesized for Li-S batteries.As the LiPSs trapping-layer,these nanocomposites provide some key benefits:(1)The nitrogen doping changes local electron distribution in the carbon nanosheets,thus the electrical conductivity is greatly improved for facilitating the transport of electrons/ions.(2)Nitrogen atoms and ZnSe nanoparticles play an important role in anchoring the LiPSs via chemical interactions.(3)The remarkable catalytic activity of ZnSe nanoparticles can accelerate the redox kinetics of LiPSs.As a result,the Li-S battery with the ZnSe/NC nanosheets modified separator exhibits ultralong lifespan over 1500 cycles with a small capacity loss of only 0.046%per cycle at 1 C,which is superior over those reported values.Furthermore,the Li-S battery with a high sulfur loading of 4.71 mg cm^(-2) can still maintain a high areal capacity of 4.28 mAh cm^(-2) after 50 cycles.This work provides a new route to the design of multifunctional low cost and high-performance separators for remarkably stable Li-S batteries.Biao Wang Dongyue Sun Yilun Ren Xiaoya Zhou Yujie Ma Shaochun Tang Xiangkang Meng 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,30:0
