| 1 | Multiple forms of vitamin B_(6) regulate salt tolerance by balancing ROS and abscisic acid levels in maize root显示文摘Salt stress causes osmotic stress,ion toxicity and oxidative stress,inducing the accumulation of abscisic acid(ABA)and excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)production,which further damage cell structure and inhibit the development of roots in plants.Previous study showed that vitamin B_(6)(VB_(6))plays a role in plant responses to salt stress,however,the regulatory relationship between ROS,VB_(6) and ABA under salt stress remains unclear yet in plants.In our study,we found that salt stress-induced ABA accumulation requires ROS production,in addition,salt stress also promoted VB_(6)(including pyridoxamine(PM),pyridoxal(PL),pyridoxine(PN),and pyridoxal 5′-phosphate(PLP))accumulation,which involved in ROS scavenging and ABA biosynthesis.Furthermore,VB_(6)-deficient maize mutant small kernel2(smk2)heterozygous is more susceptible to salt stress,and which failed to scavenge excessive ROS effectively or induce ABA accumulation in maize root under salt stress,interestingly,which can be restored by exogenous PN and PLP,respec-tively.According to these results,we proposed that PN and PLP play an essential role in balancing ROS and ABA levels under salt stress,respectively,it laid a foundation for VB_(6) to be better applied in crop salt resistance than ABA. | Chongchong Lu Yuan Tian Xuanxuan Hou Xin Hou Zichang Jia Min Li Mingxia Hao Yanke Jiang Qingbin Wang Qiong Pu Ziyi Yin Yang Li Baoyou Liu Xiaojing Kang Guangyi Zhang Xinhua Ding Yinggao Liu | 2022 | Stress Biology2022,2,1: | 1 |

| 6 | Co-planted barnyardgrass reduces rice yield by inhibiting plant above-and belowground-growth during post-heading stages显示文摘Barnyardgrass (Echinochloa spp.) is the most common noxious weed in rice paddies as it inhibits rice growth and reduces grain yield.To date,little information is available on above-and belowgroundgrowth changes in rice due to neighboring barnyardgrass.This study aimed to investigate the changes in root traits and shoot growth of rice when it is grown with different kinds of barnyardgrass.Japonica rice plants (var.Nanjing 9108) were co-cultured with two varieties of Echinochloa crusgalli (L.) Beauv.(EP,var.mitis (pursh) Petern;EH,var.zelayensis (H.B.K.) Hitchc),and E.colonum (L.) Link (EL) in the field in 2017 and 2018.Four treatments included control (i.e.,weed free rice plants) and co-cultures with each of three barnyardgrasses (EP,EH,and EL).The results revealed that EP,EH,and EL treatments significantly reduced rice grain yields by 30.6%–36.2%,42.5%–46.5%,and 10.6%–14.3%,respectively.Shoot growth including shoot dry weight,leaf photosynthetic rate,zeatin (Z) and zeatin riboside (ZR) in grains,and activities of key enzymes involved in sucrose-to-starch conversion in grains and root traits,such as length density,root dry weight,total absorbing surface area,active absorption surface area,oxidation activity,and Z+ZR contents in roots were dramatically reduced during post-heading stages of rice when grown with the three kinds of barnyardgrass.Moreover,above-mentioned rice shoot growth indices were strongly and positively correlated with root traits.These results suggested the decrease in rice shoot growth and root traits during post-heading stages contributes to the reduction in the rice yield when it grows with barnyardgrass neighbors. | Zichang Zhang Jingjing Cao Tao Gu Xia Yang Qiong Peng Lianyang Bai Yongfeng Li | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,5: | 0 |
| 7 | Spectrally multiplexed indistinguishable single-photon generation at telecom-band显示文摘Heralded single-photon source(HSPS)intrinsically suffers from the trade-off between the heralded single-photon rate and the single-photon purity.To break through this trade-off,one can apply multiplexing technology in different degrees of freedom that significantly improves the performance of the HSPS.Here,we propose a 1.5μm chip-scale HSPS on lithium niobate on insulator by employing spectral multiplexing and active feedforward spectral manipulating,and we demonstrate a proof-of-principle experiment with discrete fiber-based components.With continuous-wave laser pumping and three spectral modes multiplexed,our experimental results show that the spectral multiplexing improves the heralded single-photon rate by near threefold while keeping the g^((2))(0)as low as 0.0006±0.0001 at a measured single-photon rate of 3.1 kHz.By measuring the joint spectral intensity,we show that the spectral multiplexing and feed-forward control effectively erase the frequency correlation of photon pairs.Moreover,we implement the Hong-Ou-Mandel interference between the spectrally multiplexed single photons and photons from an independent weak coherence source,which indicates that the multiplexed single photons are highly indistinguishable after the spectral manipulation.Our results pave a way for on-chip scalable and high-performance HSPS with spectral multiplexing toward deterministic single-photon emission. | HAO YU CHENZHI YUAN RUIMING ZHANG ZICHANG ZHANG HAO LI YOU WANG GUANGWEI DENG LIXING YOU HAIZHI SONG ZHIMING WANG GUANG-CAN GUO QIANG ZHOU | 2022 | Photonics Research2022,10,6: | 0 |
