Disinfection efficiency of positive pressure respiratory protective hood using fumigation sterilization cabinet显示文摘Concerns have been raised about both the disinfection and the reusability of respiratory protective equipment following a disinfection process.Currently, there is little data available on the effects of disinfection and decontamination on positive pressure respiratory protective hoods(PPRPH).In this study,we evaluated the effect of vaporized hydrogen peroxide(VHP)on the disinfection of PPRPH to determine applicability of this method for disinfection of protective equipment, especially protective equipment with an electric supply system.A hydrogen peroxide-based fumigation sterilization cabinet was developed particularly for disinfection of protective equipment, and the disinfection experiments were conducted using four PPRPHs hung in the fumigation chamber. The pathogenic microorganism Geobacillus stearothermophilus ATCC 7953 was used as a biological indicator in this study and the relationship between air flow(the amount of VHP)and disinfection was investigated. Both function and the material physical properties of the PPRPH were assessed following the disinfection procedure. No surviving Geobacillus stearothermophilus ATCC 7953,both inside and outside of these disinfected PPRPHs,could be observed after a 60 min treatment with an air flow of 10.5–12.3 m^(3)/h.Both function and material physical properties of these PPRPHs met the working requirements after disinfection. This study indicates that air flow in the fumigation chamber directly influences the concentration of VHP.The protective equipment fumigation sterilization cabinet developed in this paper achieves the complete sterilization of the PPRPHs when the air flow is at 10.5–12.3 m^(3)/h,and provides a potential solution for the disinfection of various kind of protective equipment. | Limei Hao Jinhui Wu Enlei Zhang Ying Yi Zongxing Zhang Jinming Zhang Jiancheng Qi | 2019 | Biosafety and Health2019,1,1: | 5
Development of a negative pressure hood for isolation and transportation of individual patient with respiratory infectious disease显示文摘The frequent and sudden occurrence of both known and unknown infectious diseases can cause global social panic. If the source of infection can be effectively controlled in the early stages of an outbreak, the spread of infectious diseases can be prevented. In view of this situation, this study developed for infectious or suspected infectious patients a negative pressure isolation hood which effectively achieves direct individual isolation during the early stages of disease outbreak, and facilitates long-distance transport. The hood body is made of flexible transparent polyvinyl chloride(PVC)material, and the combination of the hood material is airtight. The unique inflatable column support structure and the design of the inflatable neck sleeve effectively ensure both stiffness and air tightness of the hood body. The electrical exhaust system maintains a stable negative pressure environment inside the hood, and polluted air inside the hood can be purified by a high efficiency filter.Test results showed that the internal noise of the hood was 68±1 dB(A),the air exhaust volume of the electric exhaust system was not<200 L/min,and the filtration efficiency of the filter to 0.3μm particles was>99.99%,indicating that the hood achieved effective isolation protection for patients with respiration infectious diseases. | Limei Hao Jinhui Wu Jinming Zhang Zhangyi Liu Ying Yi Zongxing Zhang Enlei Zhang Jiancheng Qi | 2019 | Biosafety and Health2019,1,3: | 3
Development of biosafety equipment for high containment laboratory and for personal protection in China显示文摘Biosafety equipment is the key barrier enabling high containment laboratories to handle high risk agents that may cause serious and potentially lethal infections. This perspective thoroughly analyzes the development of many kinds of key biosafety technologies, and equipment for protection of laboratory workers and for high containment laboratory facilities in China. Over more than ten years of rapid development, China has had remarkable achievements in key biosafety technologies and equipment in high containment laboratories. These technologies basically meet the needs of high containment laboratories construction in China. Furthermore, according to the current global situation regarding the prevention and control of infectious diseases and the technical development level of biosafety equipment, this paper proposes targeted suggestions and notes that China still needs to increase investment in scientific research to provide further technical and equipment support enabling us to build a community with a bright future in terms of human biosafety. | Zhang Zongxing Wu Jinhui Hao Limei Yi Ying Qi Jiancheng | 2020 | Biosafety and Health2020,2,1: | 2
Research and development of airtight biosafety containment facility for stainless steel structures显示文摘Objective:Airtightness of containment structures of a high-level biosafety laboratory is a critical parameter for preventing leakage of harmful bioaerosols. The aim of this study is to investigate the sealing technology of stainless steel structural airtight biosafety containment facilities. Methods:An experimental study was conducted on a domestic high-level pathogenic microorganism model laboratory, considering the sealing process of the containment structure, including airtight doors, pass boxes, dunk tanks,through-wall pipeline sealing devices, and sealed floor drains. Results:The results indicate that the airtightness of the model laboratory containment structure meets the tightness requirements of a biosafety level-4(BSL-4)laboratory.They also indicate that the construction technology of stainless steel enclosure structures used by the laboratory and the tightness performance and installation process of the developed airtight protective equipment meet the technical requirements of a BSL-4 laboratory. Conclusions:This successful model laboratory indicates that China has the research and development capacity for stainless steel airtight containment structure manufacturing processes, airtight protective equipment, and technical capacity for independent construction of the highest-level pathogenic microorganism laboratories. | Zongxing Zhang Jinhui Wu Enlei Zhang Siqing Zhao Dong Wang Ying Yi Jiancheng Qi | 2019 | Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2019,1,1: | 1
Establishment of the key Technical Indicators of Positive Pressure Biological Protective Clothing显示文摘Objective:Trying to establish the key technical indicators related to positive pressure biological protective clothing(PPBPC),providing technical support for the establishment of PPBPC standards in the future.Method:We examined the protection standard systems established by the major standards organizations in China and other developed countries. We also analyzed the technical indicators of the gas-tight chemical protective clothing and ventilated protective clothing against particulate radioactive contamination which closely related to PPBPC.And tested the performance of a set of imported dual-purpose PPBPC to verify the fit of its technical indicators with the standards. We aimed to identify the status of China’s standards in the area of personnel protection and put forward feasible suggestions for the production of PPBPC in China. Results:Developed countries in Europe and North America have a complete system of standard protective clothing.China should also strengthen the construction of standard protective clothing, especially PPBPC.Conclusion:With the improvements in infectious disease prevention and control on a global scale, the demand for PPBPC continues to increase and consideration should be given to the establishment of standards for this. | Hao Limei Zhang Zongxing Yi Ying Qi Jiancheng Zhou Yongyun Wu Jinhui | 2019 | Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2019,1,2: | 1
Retinoblastoma binding protein 4 represses HIV-1 long terminal repeat–mediated transcription by recruiting NR2F1 and histone deacetylase显示文摘Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) transcription is closely associated with chromatin remodeling. Retinoblastoma binding protein 4 (RBBP4) is a histone chaperone implicated in chromatin remodeling. However, the role of RBBP4 in HIV-1 infection and the underlying mechanism remain elusive. In the present study, we showed that RBBP4 plays a negative regulatory role during HIV-1 infection. RBBP4 expression was significantly increased in HIV-1–infected T cells. RBBP4 binds to the HIV-1 long terminal repeat (LTR), represses HIV-1 LTR-mediated transcription through recruiting nuclear receptor subfamily 2 group F member 1(NR2F1) and histone deacetylase 1 and 2 (HDAC1/2) to HIV-1 LTR, and further controls local histone 3 (H3) deacetylation and chromatin compaction. Furthermore, the occupancy of RBBP4, HDAC1/2, and NR2F1 on LTR in HIV-latent J-lat cells was significantly higher than that in HIV-1–activated cells. In conclusion, our results establish RBBP4 as a new potent antiretroviral factor, which may provide theoretical basis for the treatment of HIV in the future. | Juan Wang Zongxing Yang Linfang Cheng Lingna Lu Kenv Pan Jin Yang Nanping Wu | 2019 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,9: | 0
Early performance of Pinus radiata provenances in the earthquakeravaged dry river valley area of Sichuan, southwest China显示文摘A provenance experiment involving five native provenances and an Australian landrace of Pinus radiata(D.Don) was established over three sites in the dry river valley area of Sichuan, southwest China in 2004 in order to select the most suitable provenance for environmental planting on the dry, steep and degraded slopes to reduce soil erosion.Although with much lower soil moisture supply and mean minimum temperatures in winter compared to P.radiata provenance trials established elsewhere in the world, these sites are within the working limits of the species defined by previous climate modelling and matching.Because of the difficult site conditions and severe natural disturbances after the experiment was established, mortality was high across the three sites in comparison to provenance trials in other countries. The average mor-tality rate among the provenance by replicate planting units over the three sites varied from 16% to 76% four years after planting, and from40% to 88% five years after planting. The repeated measurements of tree size over time were analysed using multilevel linear mixed models to derive growth curves for the mean, median, the 75th and the 90th percentiles of the size distribution of each provenance at each site. There were significant site effects on tree growth, but no significant interactions between site and provenance was detected.Among the six provenances,Cambria was the best performer in diameter, height and stem volume growth across all sites. The better than average and the best trees of this provenance, as represented by the 75th and 90th percentiles of the nominal stem volume distribution, were significantly larger than the Australian landrace, A o Nuevo, and the two island provenances, Guadalupe and Cedros.Monterey was overall the second best performer behind Cambria. The Australian landrace, Guadalupe and A o Nuevo had similar performances in general.Cedros was significantly and consistently inferior to all other native provenances and the Australian land race.Because the genetic base of the present Australian plantations was derived largely from A o Nuevo and Monterey, the superior early growth performance of Cambria at such difficult sites brings a new promise to the search of P.radiata provenances for the vast dryland areas in New South Wales and other parts of Australia. | Huiquan Bi Rongwei Li Zongxing Wu Quan Huang Qianli Liu Yongli Zhou Yun Li | 2013 | Journal of Forestry Research2013,24,4: | 0
