1Enzymatic activity and chromatographic characteristics of the cell membrane immobilized on silica surface显示文摘A new cell membrane preparation, silica carrier cell membrane (CCM), has been presented, in which cell membrane was immobilized on silica which acted as carrier by the adsorption. The surface characteristics of the silica CCM have been tested by a scanning electron microscope and surface energy spectrometer. Comparison has been made of the changeable rule of enzymatic activity of rabbit red cell membrane in three states: the silica CCM, the suspension and the precipitation cell membranes, with temperature and time. The result showed that the silica CCM still keeps the same enzymatic activity as the other two states of cell membranes. The interactions between calcium antagonists and rabbit red and cardiac muscle cell membranes, and the stereoscopic interactions between dihydropridines and rabbit cerebellar cell membrane have been investigated by the chromatographic system of the silica CCM as a stationary phase. From the foregoing results, the chromatographic parameters obtained from the system wouldLangchong He Guangde Yang Xindu Geng 1999Chinese Science Bulletin1999,44,9:58
3Bioactive flavonoids in medicinal plants:Structure, activity and biological fate显示文摘Flavonoids, a class of polyphenol secondary metabolites, are presented broadly in plants and diets. They are believed to have various bioactive effects including anti-viral, antiinflammatory, cardioprotective, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, anti-aging, etc. Their basic structures consist of C_6—C_3—C_6 rings with different substitution patterns to produce a series of subclass compounds, and correlations between chemical structures and bioactivities have been studied before. Given their poor bioavailability, however, information about associations between structure and biological fate is limited and urgently needed. This review therefore attempts to bring some order into relationships between structure, activity as well as pharmacokinetics of bioactive flavonoids.Tian-yang Wang Qing Li Kai-shun Bi 2018Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2018,13,1:36
4Exercise guidelines for gestational diabetes mellitus显示文摘The prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)is increasing worldwide. This disease has many detrimental consequences for the woman, the unborn foetus and child. The management of GDM aims to mediate the effects of hyperglycaemia by controlling blood glucose levels.Along with pharmacology and dietary interventions, exercise has a powerful potential to assist with blood glucose control.Due to the uncertainty of risks and benefits of exercise during pregnancy, women tend to avoid exercise. However, under adequate supervision exercise is both safe and beneficial in the treatment of GDM.Therefore it is vital that exercise is incorporated into the continuum of care for women with GDM.Medical doctors should be able to refer to competently informed exercise professionals to aid in GDM treatment. It is important that exercise treatment is informed by research.Hence, the development of evidence-based guidelines is important to inform practice.Currently there are no guidelines for exercise in GDM.This review aims to assess the efficacy of exercise for the management of GDM in order to establish an exercise prescription guideline specific to the condition. It is recommended that women with GDM should do both aerobic and resistance exercise at a moderate intensity,a minimum of three times a week for 30-60min each time.Cliantha Padayachee Jeff S Coombes 2015World Journal of Diabetes2015,6,8:31

6Neural mechanism of gastric motility regulation by electroacupuncture at RN12 and BL21: A paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus-dorsal vagal complex-vagus nervegastric channel pathway显示文摘AIM: To study the neural mechanism by which electroacupuncture(EA) at RN12(Zhongwan) and BL21(Weishu) regulates gastric motility.METHODS: One hundred and forty-four adult Sprague Dawley rats were studied in four separate experiments. Intragastric pressure was measured using custommade rubber balloons, and extracellular neuron firing activity, which is sensitive to gastric distention in the dorsal vagal complex(DVC), was recorded by an electrophysiological technique. The expression levels of c-fos, motilin(MTL) and gastrin(GAS) in the paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus(PVN) were assayed by immunohistochemistry, and the expression levels of motilin receptor(MTL-R) and gastrin receptor(GAS-R) in both the PVN and the gastric antrum were assayed by western blotting.RESULTS: EA at RN12 + BL21(gastric Shu and Mu points), BL21(gastric Back-Shu point), RN12(gastric Front-Mu point), resulted in increased neuron-activating frequency in the DVC(2.08 ± 0.050, 1.17 ± 0.023, 1.55 ± 0.079 vs 0.75 ± 0.046, P < 0.001) compared with a model group. The expression of c-fos(36.24 ± 1.67, 29.41 ± 2.55, 31.79 ± 3.00 vs 5.73 ± 2.18, P < 0.001), MTL(22.48 ± 2.66, 20.76 ± 2.41, 19.17 ± 1.71 vs 11.68 ± 2.52, P < 0.001), GAS(24.99 ± 2.95, 21.69 ± 3.24, 23.03 ± 3.09 vs 12.53 ± 2.15, P < 0.001), MTL-R(1.39 ± 0.05, 1.22 ± 0.05, 1.17 ± 0.12 vs 0.84 ± 0.06, P < 0.001), and GAS-R(1.07 ± 0.07, 0.91 ± 0.06, 0.78 ± 0.05 vs 0.45 ± 0.04, P < 0.001) increased in the PVN after EA compared with the model group. The expression of MTL-R(1.46 ± 0.14, 1.26 ± 0.11, 0.99 ± 0.07 vs 0.65 ± 0.03, P < 0.001), and GAS-R(1.63 ± 0.11, 1.26 ± 0.16, 1.13 ± 0.02 vs 0.80 ± 0.11, P < 0.001) increased in the gastric antrum after EA compared with the model group. Damaging the PVN resulted in reduced intragastric pressure(13.67 ± 3.72 vs 4.27 ± 1.48, P < 0.001). These data demonstrate that the signals induced by EA stimulation of acupoints RN12 and BL21 are detectable in the DVC and the PVN, and increase the levels of gastrointestinal hormones and their receptors in the PVN and gastric antrum to regulate gastric motility. CONCLUSION: EA at RN12 and BL21 regulates gastric motility, which may be achieved through the PVN-DVCvagus-gastric neural pathway.Hao Wang Wen-Jian Liu Guo-Ming Shen Meng-Ting Zhang Shun Huang Ying He 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,48:27
7Role of moxibustion in inflammatory responses during treatment of rat ulcerative colitis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the efficacy of moxibustion in ulcerative colitis(UC) rats from morphological, immunological and molecular biological perspectives.METHODS: Thirty-two Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to a blank control group(normal rats, n = 6) and a model replication(MR) group(UC rats, n = 26). A UC model was established by 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid/dextran sulfate sodium enema. Rats in the MR group were further randomly assigned to a 9-min moxibustion(9M) group(9 moxa-cone, n = 6), 6-min moxibustion(6M) group(6 moxa-cone, n = 6), 3-min moxibustion(3M) group(3 moxa-cone, n = 6), and a waiting list control(WLC) group(no moxibustion treatment, n = 6). Rats in the moxibustion treatment group were treated in 14 sessions over 28 d. Disease activity, local tissue morphology, serum level of interleukin(IL)-8 and IL-10, and expression of Toll-like receptor(TLR)9 aswell as nuclear factor(NF)-κB p65 in colonic tissue were determined by disease activity index(DAI), hematoxylin and eosin staining, electron microscopy, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western blotting, respectively.RESULTS: DAI was lowest in the 9M group and highest in the WLC group. The differences in DAI between the moxibustion treatment(3M, 6M, 9M) and no treatment groups were significant for all one-to-one comparisons(0.60 ± 0.54 vs 1.20 ± 0.44, 0.60 ± 0.54 vs 1.80 ± 0.45, 0.60 ± 0.54 vs 3.0 ± 0.45, respectively, P < 0.05). Light and electron microscopy showed that the neatness of the glandular arrangement in colonic mucosal epithelia gradually increased in the WLC, 3M, 6M to 9M groups. IL-8 level successively decreased while IL-10 level increased from the WLC to 3M, 6M and 9M groups. The differences among these groups were significant for all comparisons(105.46 ± 8.75 vs 76.61 ± 3.58, 105.46 ± 8.75 vs 69.78 ± 1.87, 105.46 ± 8.75 vs 67.41 ± 1.84, respectively, P < 0.01 for IL-8; and 30.83 ± 1.29 vs 75.64 ± 1.90, 30.83 ± 1.29 vs 80.90 ± 3.16, 30.83 ± 1.29 vs 83.46 ± 2.37, respectively, P < 0.01 for IL-10), except comparison of 6M vs 9M. Expression of TLR9 and NF-κB p65 decreased in order: highest in the WLC group and lowest in the 9M group. In addition, the differences among the WLC, 3M, 6M and 9M groups were significant for all comparisons(0.492 ± 0.026 vs 0.380 ± 0.022, 0.492 ± 0.026 vs 0.355 ± 0.005, 0.492 ± 0.026 vs 0.327 ± 0.015, respectively, P < 0.05 for TLR9; and 0.436 ± 0.041 vs 0.326 ± 0.022, 0.436 ± 0.041 vs 0.293 ± 0.006, 0.436 ± 0.041 vs 0.265 ± 0.017, respectively, P < 0.05 for NF-κB p65).CONCLUSION: Moxibustion repairs damaged colonic mucosa, suppresses serum IL-8, activates serum IL-10 level, and decreases expression of TLR-9 and NF-κB p65 in UC rats.Yang Han Tie-Ming Ma Mao-Lin Lu Lu Ren Xian-De Ma Zeng-Hua Bai 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,32:27
8Honey:its medicinal property and antibacterial activity显示文摘Indeed, medicinal importance of honey has been documented in the world's oldest medical literatures, and since the ancient times,it has been known to possess antimicrobial property as well as wound-healing activity. The healing property of honey is due to the fact that it offers antibacterial activity, maintains a moist wound condition, and its high viscosity helps to provide a protective barrier to prevent infection. Its immunomodulatory property is relevant to wound repair too.The antimicrobial activity in most honeys is due to the enzymatic production of hydrogen peroxide. However, another kind of honey, called non-peroxide honey(viz.,manuka honey),displays significant antibacterial effects even when the hydrogen peroxide activity is blocked. Its mechanism may be related to the low pH level of honey and its high sugar content(high osmolality) that is enough to hinder the growth of microbes. The medical grade honeys have potent in vitro bactericidal activity against antibiotic-resistant bacteria causing several life-threatening infections to humans. But,there is a large variation in the antimicrobial activity of some natural honeys, which is due to spatial and temporal variation in sources of nectar. Thus, identification and characterization of the active principle(s) may provide valuable information on the quality and possible therapeutic potential of honeys(against several health disorders of humans),and hence we discussed the medicinal property of honeys with emphasis on their antibacterial activities.Manisha Deb Mandal Shyamapada Mandal 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,2:26

10Anti-fungal and anti-bacterial activities of ethanol extracts of selected traditional Chinese medicinal herbs显示文摘Objective:To evaluate in ritro antimicrobial activities of selected 58 ethno-medicinal plant extracts with a view to assess their therapeutic potential. Methods:A total of 58 traditional Chinese medicinal plants were carefully selected based on the literature review and their traditional use.The antimicrobial activities of ethanol extracts of these medicinal plants were tested against fungi(Aspergillus funigaius),yeast(Candida albicans),gram-negative(Acirelobacter haumannii and Pseudornnruis aeruginosa)and gram-positive bacteria(Staphglococcus aureus). The activities were tested at three different concentrations of 1.00,0.10 and 0.01 mg/mL.The data was analysed using Gene data Screener program. Results:The measured antimicrobial activities indicated that out of the 58 plant extracts,15 extracts showed anti-fungal activity and 23 extracts exhibited anti-bacterial activity.Eight plant extracts have exhibited both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activities. For instance,Eucommia ulmoides,Pohgonum cuspidcrtum,Poria cocas and Uncaria rhineophylla showed activity against both bacterial and fungal strains, indicating their broad spectrum of activity. Conclusions:The results revealed that the ethanol extracts of 30 plants out of the selected 58 possess significant antimicrobial activities. It is interesting to note that the findings from the current study are consistent with the traditional use.A clear correlation has also been found between the antimicrobial activity and the flavonoid content of the plant extracts which is in agreement with the literature.Hence.the results presented here can be used to guide the selection of potential plant species for the isolation and structure elucidation of novel antimicrobial compounds in order to establish the structure-activity relationship. This in turn is expected to lead the way to the discovery of novel antimicrobial agents for therapeutic use.Lin Zhang Anjaneya S.Ravipati Sundar R Koyyalamudi Sang Chul Jeong Narsimha Reddy John Bartlett Paul T.Smith Mercedes de la Cruz Maria Cndida Monteiro ngeles Melguizo Ester Jimnez Francisca Vicente 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,9:23
11Synapse formation and remodeling显示文摘Synapses are specialized structures that mediate information flow between neurons and target cells, and thus are the basis for neuronal system to execute various functions, including learning and memory. There are around 1011 neurons in the human brain, with each neuron receiving thousands of synaptic inputs, either excitatory or inhibitory.A synapse is an asymmetric structure that is composed of pre-synaptic axon terminals, synaptic cleft, and postsynaptic compartments.Synapse formation involves a number of cell adhesion molecules, extracellular factors, and intracellular signaling or structural proteins. After the establishment of synaptic connections, synapses undergo structural or functional changes, known as synaptic plasticity which is believed to be regulated by neuronal activity and a variety of secreted factors. This review summarizes recent progress in the field of synapse development, with particular emphasis on the work carried out in China during the past 10 years(1999-2009).LUO ZhenGe Institute of Neuroscience and State Key Laboratory of Neuroscience,Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Shanghai 200031,China 2010Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,3:22
12Evidence for cold events in the early Holocene from the Guliya ice core, Tibetan Plateau,China显示文摘Evidence for the '8.2 ka cold event' has been provided mostly from the circum-North Atlantic area. However, whether this cold event occurred in other places is a key to understanding its cause. Here, we provide the evidence for the '8.2 ka cold event' from the Guliya ice core in the northwest Tibetan Plateau, and it was found that the peak cooling (-8.3-8.2 ka) in this ice core was about 7.8-10°C, which was larger than the cooling in the North Atlantic region. The primary causes for this episode were diminished solar activity and weakened thermohaline circulation. Moreover, another weak cold event, centered about 9.4 ka, was also recorded in the Guliya ice core record. These two cold events were concurrent with the ice-rafting episodes in the North Atlantic during the early Holocene, which implies that the millennial-scale climatic cyclicity might exist in the Tibetan Plateau as well as in the North Atlantic.WANG Ninglian YAO Tandong L.G.Thompson K.A.Henderson M.E.Davis 2002Chinese Science Bulletin2002,47,17:23
13Lightning activity and precipitation structure of hailstorms显示文摘By using the cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning location data from the lightning detection network of He- nan Province, surface Doppler radar data and standard orbit data of PR, TMI and LIS on TRMM satellite, the spatial and temporal characteristics of CG lightning flashes in 10 severe hailstorms are analyzed. The results show that the percentage of +CG lightning in these hailstorms is high with an average value of 45.5%. There is a distinct increase in CG flash rate during the rapid development stage of hailstorms. The hailstone falling corresponds to an active positive flash period, and the increase of +CG flash rate is generally accompanied with a decrease of –CG flash rate. The flash rate declines rapidly during the dissipating stage of hailstorms. The precipitation structure and lightning activity in two typical hail- storms are studied in detail. It is found that strong convective cells with reflectivity greater than 30dBZ mainly are situated in the front region of hailstorms, whereas the trailing stratiform region is in the rear part of the hailstorms. The maximum heights of echo top are higher than 14 km. Convective rain con- tributes much more rainfall to the total than stratiform rain, and the convective rain takes about 85% and 97% of the total in the two cases, respectively. Total lightning in the hailstorms is very active with the flash rate up to 183 fl/min and 55 fl/min, respectively. The results also indicate that most lightning flashes occurred in the echo region greater than 30 dBZ and its immediate periphery. The probability of lightning occurrence is 20 times higher in the convective region than in the stratiform region. The result suggests that the lightning information is helpful to the identification of convective rain region. The linear relationship between flash rate and ice water content is disclosed primarily.FENG GuiLi1,2, QIE XiuShu3,1, YUAN Tie1 & NIU ShuZhen4 1 Laboratory of Lightning and Thunderstorm, Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou 730000, China 2 Shandong Research Institute of Meteorology, Jinan 250031, China 3 Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100029, China 4 The Meteorological Observatory of Henan Province, Zhengzhou 450003, China 2007Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,4:22
14QSAR Studies on the Inhibitory Activityof Levofloxacin-thiadiazole HDACi Conjugates to Histone Deacetylases显示文摘A molecular electronegativity distance vector(M_t)based on 13 atomic types has been used to describe the structures of 19 conjugates(LHCc)of levofloxacin-thiadiazole HDAC inhibitor(HDACi)and related inhibitory activities(pH_i,i=1,2,6)of LHCc against histone deacetylases(HDACs,such as HDAC1,HDAC2 and HDAC6).The quantitative structure-activity relationships(QSAR)were established by using leaps-and-bounds regression analysis for the inhibitory activities(pH_i)of 19 above compounds to HDAC1,HDAC2 and HDAC6 along with M_t.The correlation coefficients(R^2)and the leave-one-out(LOO)cross validation R_(cv)^(2 )for the pH_1,pH_(2 )and pH_(6 )models were 0.976 and 0.949;0.985 and 0.977;0.976 and 0.932,respectively.The QSAR models had favorable correlations,as well as robustness and good prediction capability by R^2,F,R^2_(cv),A_(IC),F_(IT )and V_(IF )tests.Validated by using 3876 training sets, the models have good external prediction ability. The results indicate that the molecular structural units:–CH_g–(g=1,2),–NH_2,–OH,=O,–O–and–S–are the main factors which can affect the inhibitory activity of pH_1,pH_(2 )as well as pH_(6 )bioactivities of these compounds directly.Accordingly, the main interactions between HDACs inhibitor and HDACs are hydrophobic interaction, hydrogen bond, and coordination with Zn^(2+)to form compounds, which is consistent with the results in reports.王超 冯长君 2018Chinese Journal of Structural Chemistry2018,37,11:23
153D-QSAR Studies on the Anti-tumor Activity of N-Aryl-salicylamide Derivatives显示文摘In the present work, comparative molecular field analysis(CoMFA)techniques were used to perform three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship(3D-QSAR)studies on the anti-tumor activity(pHi,i=1,2,3,4)of N-aryl-salicylamide derivatives against four cancer cell lines, including A549,MCF-7,SGC-7901,and Bel-7402.12 compounds were randomly selected as the training set to establish the prediction models, which were verified by the test set of 5 compounds containing template molecule. The contributions of steric and electrostatic fields to pH1,pH2,pH3,and pH4 were 23.8% and 76.2%,20.1% and 79.9%,18.7% and 81.3%,and 14.3%and 85.7%,respectively.The cross-validation(Rcv 2)and non-cross-validation coefficients(R2)were 0.826 and 0.963 for pH1,0.867 and 0.974 for pH2,0.941 and 0.989 for pH3,and 0.797 and 0.961 for pH4,respectively.The CoMFA models were then used to predict the activities of the compounds, and it was found that the models had strong stability and good predictability.Based on the CoMFA contour maps, some key structural factors responsible for the anticancer activity of the series of compounds were revealed. The results provide some useful theoretical references for understanding the mechanism of action, designing new N-aryl-salicylamide derivatives with high anti-tumor activity, and predicting their activities.冯惠 冯长君 2019Chinese Journal of Structural Chemistry2019,38,11:23

During the pupal stage the methanolic extract of M.oleifera showed that the LC_(50),and LC_(90) values were 67.77 ppm and 141.00 ppm, respectively. Conclusions:The present study indicates that the phytochemicals derived from M.oleifera seeds extracts are effective mosquito vector control agents and the plant extracts may be used for further integrated pest management programs.Prabhu K Murugan K Nareshkumar A Ramasubramanian N Bragadeeswaran S 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,2:19
18Ovicidal and repellent activities of botanical extracts against Culex quinquefasciatus,Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi(Diptera:Culicidae)显示文摘Objective:To determine the ovicidal and repellent activities of methanol leaf extract of Ervatamia coronaria(E.coronaria) and Caeslpinia pulckerrima(C.pulcherrima) against Culex quinquefasciatus(Cx.quinquefasciatus),Aedes aegypti(Ae.aegypti) and Anopheles stephensi(An. stephensi). Methods:The ovicidal activity was determined against three mosquito species at various concentrations ranging from 50-450 ppm under the laboratory conditions. The hatch rates were assessed 48 h after treatment. The repellent efficacy was determined against three mosquito species at three concentrations viz.,1.0,2.5 and 5.0 mg/cm under the laboratory conditions. Results:The crude extract of E.coronaria exerted zero hatchability(100%mortality) at 250.200 and 150 ppm for Cx.quinqitefasciatus,Ae.aegypti and An.stephensi,respectively.The crude extract of C.pulchenima exerted zero hatchability(100%mortality) at 375.300 and 225 ppm for Cx.quinquefasciatus,Ae.aegypti and An.Stephensi,respectively.The methanol extract of E. coronaria found to be more repellenct than C.pukherrima extract.A higher concentration of 5.0 mg/cm^2 provided 100%protection up to 150.180 and 210 min against Cx.quinquefasciatus,Ae. aegypti and An.stephensi,respectively.The results clearly showed that repellent activity was dose dependent. Conclusions:From the results it can be concluded the crude extracts of E.coronaria and C.pukherrima are an excellent potential for controlling Cx.quinquefasciatus,Ae.aegypti and An.stephensi mosquitoes.Govindarajan M Mathivanan T Elumalai K Krishnappa K Anandan A 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,1:17
19Phenolic and flavonoid contents, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of leaf extracts from ten Algerian Ficus carica L. varieties显示文摘Objective: To determine the total phenolic and flavonoid contents, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of methanolic leaf extracts of ten Algerian fig(Ficus carica L.)varieties(uniferous, biferous and caprifig tree). Methods: Phenolics were extracted by Soxhlet method and analyzed by the Folin–Ciocalteu colorimetric method. Flavonoids were determined by aluminum trichloride assay and the antioxidant capacity was determined by the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging assay. The antimicrobial activity was studied with the disc diffusion method and a macrodilution broth method was used to determine the minimal inhibitory concentrations and minimal lethal concentrations. Results: The mean extract yield was 14.10% ± 0.66%(n = 10). Leaf extract of biferous followed by uniferous varieties had the highest total phenolic contents [(52.296 ± 5.232)and(48.973 ± 2.015) mg gallic acid equivalent/g of dry plant extract respectively], flavonoids [(14.388 ± 0.333) and(14.136 ± 1.082) mg quercetin equivalent/g of dry plant extract] and antioxidant capacity [IC50(798.754 ± 108.590) and(825.004 ± 110.835) mg/m L]. Antioxidant capacity of fig leaves was significantly correlated with phenolic contents(r = 0.748). These extracts showed bactericidal activity and moderate antifungal activity, and the minimal inhibitory concentrations and minimal lethal concentrations were determined on Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus. Conclusions: All tested extracts contain phenolic compounds and exhibited an antioxidant activity and an antimicrobial effect against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Further researches on identification and purification of phenolic compounds are required.Souhila Mahmoudi Mustapha Khali Abderahim Benkhaled Karima Benamirouche Imen Baiti 2016Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2016,6,3:17
20A review on medicinal importance, pharmacological activity and bioanalytical aspects of beta-carboline alkaloid 'Harmine'显示文摘Harmine,a beta-carboline alkaloid,is widely distributed in the plants, marine creatures, insects, mammalians as well as in human tissues and body fluids.Harmine was originally isolated from seeds of Peganum harmal in 1847 having a core indole structure and a pyridine ring.Harmine has various types of pharmacological activities such as antimicrobial, antifungal, antitumor, cytotoxic, antiplasmodial, antioxidaant, antimutagenic, antigenotoxic and hallucinogenic properties. It acts on gamma-aminobutyric acid type A and monoamine oxidase A or B receptor, enhances insulin sensitivity and also produces vasorelaxant effect.Harmine prevents bone loss by suppressing osteoclastogenesis. The current review gives an overview on pharmacological activity and analytical techniques of harmine, which may be useful for researcheres to explore the hidden potential of harmine and and will also help in developing new drugs for the treatment of various diseases.K Patel M Gadewar R Tripathi SK Prasad Dinesh Kumar Patel 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,8:17
