| 1 | 宝天曼落叶阔叶林样地栓皮栎种群空间格局显示文摘种群空间格局分析有利于更好地理解格局形成的潜在生态过程。本研究在温带—亚热带过渡区的宝天曼自然保护区内选择两个1ha固定监测样地,以栓皮栎(Quercus variabilis)为研究对象,采用单变量和双变量g(r)函数分析了两个典型样地中栓皮栎种群空间分布格局、4个不同生长阶段的空间分布格局和空间关联性,以及栓皮栎活立木与残干间的空间关联性。结果表明:(1)栓皮栎种群分布格局以聚集为主,样地I的聚集性更强,而样地II则表现出较大的随机性;(2)在两个样地中,早期阶段的个体均表现为聚集分布格局,而后期阶段的个体则表现为随机分布格局;(3)样地I中栓皮栎种群不同生长阶段均表现为空间正相关,样地II中栓皮栎种群的早期阶段与其后的两个阶段间均表现为空间负相关;(4)样地I中栓皮栎活立木与残干之间为空间正相互作用,样地II中栓皮栎活立木与残干之间无空间关联性。宝天曼自然保护区栓皮栎种群空间分布格局可能受环境异质性的作用,并对自身的天然更新产生影响。 | 袁志良 王婷 朱学灵 沙迎迎 叶永忠 | 2011 | 生物多样性2011,19,2: | 32 |
| 2 | 应用ISSR-PCR分析蒙古栎种群的遗传多样性显示文摘本研究应用ISSR标记技术对东北地区的优势树种蒙古栎(Quercus mongolica)的25个种群遗传多样性进行了分析,目的是为蒙古栎早期选择提供依据。从60条ISSR引物中筛选出10个特异性强、稳定性好的引物进行ISSR分析。共获得位点数71个,其中多态位点数56个,多态位点百分率为78.87%。PopGene分析结果表明:种群的平均多态位点百分率为45.2%,Shannon表型多样性指数(I)平均值为0.25,具有较高的遗传多样性,种群间存在一定程度的基因流(Nm为1.3818)和遗传分化(Nei’s信息多样性指数平均值为0.1068,Gst平均值为0.2657),种群内的基因多样度占总种群的73.43%,种群间占26.57%,表明蒙古栎种群的变异主要来源于种群内。结合聚类分析和地理变异规律把种群划分为两个大的种群组:小兴安岭种群组和长白山种群组。以上结果可为栎属种质资源的保护和利用以及物种分化研究提供基础资料。 | 张杰 吴迪 汪春蕾 屈红军 邹学忠 杨传平 | 2007 | 生物多样性2007,15,3: | 27 |
| 3 | 密度制约对宝天曼落叶阔叶林锐齿栎死亡前后分布格局的影响显示文摘为了在温带和亚热带的过渡带中验证森林树木死亡是否受密度制约的影响,我们在宝天曼国家级自然保护区选择1个100 m×100 m的暖温带落叶阔叶林样地,用双变量函数g(r)(the pair-correlation function)研究了锐齿栎(Quercus aliena var.acuteserrata)死亡前(活树和枯木统称为死亡前树木)和死亡后(活树为死亡后树木)的分布格局。把样地中的锐齿栎分为幼树(1 cm≤DBH<10 cm)、小树(10 cm≤DBH<20 cm)和成年树(DBH≥20 cm)3个不同的生长阶段来研究密度制约对空间分布格局的影响机制。结果表明:(1)死亡前锐齿栎在r>5 m尺度呈聚集分布,死亡后幼树(1 cm≤DBH<10 cm)和成年树(DBH≥20 cm)在1–25 m尺度呈现随机分布,死亡后小树(10 cm≤DBH<20 cm)在r<1.5 m和2.5–4.5 m的尺度为随机分布,在r>5 m的尺度呈聚集分布;(2)采用随机标签零模型和案例–对照设计的方法,排除生境异质性影响后,将幼树和小树的分布格局作为案例,将成年树的分布格局作为对照,并代表生境异质性的作用,通过小径级树木与成年树分布格局的对比发现,密度制约效应对死亡前后的锐齿栎分布格局均具有影响;(3)幼树和小树在成年树周围的分布死亡前为显著聚集分布格局,死亡后剩余树木的聚集强度下降;随着与成年树之间距离的增加,死亡后的幼树(仅包括现存的活树)逐渐向随机分布格局演替。本研究初步表明锐齿栎空间格局受生境异质性的影响并呈现出显著的聚集效应,排除生境异质性影响后,锐齿栎死亡前后的空间格局受到密度制约的影响,这一结果为Janzen-Connell假说提供了支持。 | 王婷 任思远 袁志良 祝燕 潘娜 李鹿鑫 叶永忠 | 2014 | 生物多样性2014,22,4: | 22 |

| 5 | Ontogenetic transition in leaf traits: a new cost associated with the increase in leaf longevity显示文摘Aims Recent work has identified a worldwide‘economics’spectrum of correlated leaf traits that mainly reflects the compromises between maximizing leaf longevity and short-term productivity.However,during the early stages of tree growth different species tend to exhibit a common strategy,because competition for soil water and nutrients forces the maximization of short-term productivity owing to the need for rapid growth during the most vulnerable part of the tree’s life cycle.Accordingly,our aim here was to compare the variations that occur during ontogeny in the different leaf traits(morphology and leaf chemical composition)of several coexisting Mediterranean woody species differing in their leaf life spans and to test our hypothesis that tree species with a long leaf life span should exhibit larger shifts in leaf characteristics along ontogeny.Methods Six Mediterranean tree species differing in leaf life span,selected from three plots located in central-western Spain,were studied during three growth stages:seedlings,juveniles and mature trees.Leaf life span,leaf morphology(leaf area,dry weight,thickness and mass per unit area)and chemical composition(N and fibre con-centrations)were measured in all six species.The magnitude of the ontogenetic changes in the different traits was estimated and related to the mean leaf longevity of the different species.Important Findings Along ontogeny,strong changes were observed in all variables analysed.The early growth stages showed lower leaf thickness,leaf thickness and mass per unit area and N,cellulose and hemi-cellulose concentrations than mature trees,but a higher lignin content.However,these changes were especially marked in species with a longer leaf life span at maturity.Interspecific dif-ferences in leaf life span,leaf morphology and chemical com-position were stronger at the mature stage than at the seedling stage.We conclude that greater plasticity and more intense strat-egy shifts along ontogeny are necessarily associated with long leaf life span.Our results thus provide a new aspect that should be incorporated into the analysis of the costs and benefits associ-ated with the different strategies related to leaf persistence dis-played by the different species.Accordingly,the intensity of the alterations in leaf traits among different growth stages should be added to the suite of traits that change along the leaf economics spectrum. | Sonia Mediavilla Maria Herranz Patricia González-Zurdo Alfonso Escudero | 2014 | Journal of Plant Ecology2014,7,6: | 5 |
| 6 | Development of cork oak (Quercus suber L.) seedlings in response to tree shelters and mulching in northwestern Tunisia显示文摘The need for reforestation in cork oak (Quercus suber L.) areas is challenged by difficulties. Principal among these is herbivory of young plants, vegetative competition, and slow growth rates of cork oak seedlings. We evaluated the early development of cork oak seedlings treated using tree shelters and mulching in northwestern Tunisia. We tested three tree shelter treatments (non-vented, vented, and control) to shield seedlings from animal damage and five mulch types to control competing vegetation (Italian Stone Pine, Lentisk, combination of Italian Stone Pine and Lentisk (organic mulches), gravel (inorganic mulch) and no mulch). At the end of the two-year experiment, sheltered seedlings were 89-99% taller than unshelteredseedlings and had higher numbers and lengths of shoot growth flushes. In contrast, both stem diameter growth and dry weight biomass (from samples extracted after two years) were significantly reduced inside tree shelters. Root-to-shoot ratio was not significantly different in sheltered vs. unsheltered seedlings, suggesting that tree shelters do not adversely affect this parameter. Mulching alone did not favour growth, but could be beneficial when combined with tree shelters. | 9 | Antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibitor activities of natural compounds isolated from Quercus gilva Blume leaves显示文摘Objective: To isolate and investigate antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibitor compounds in the leaves of Quercus gilva Blume(Q. gilva).Methods: Dry leaves of Q. gilva were extracted with methanol and the methanolic extract was further separated by silica gel column chromatography using several solvents with increasing polarity. The antioxidant activities of the isolated compounds were evaluated using various in vitro assays: 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity, hydrogen peroxide radical scavenging activity, β-carotene bleaching assay, and reducing power assay. The α-glucosidase inhibitory assay was conducted against α-glucosidase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae.Results: Three compounds were isolated and their structures were identii ed as catechin(1), epicatechin(2), and tiliroside(3) using an instrumental analysis. Compound 2 had higher antioxidant activity with inhibitory concentrations(IC50) of(22.55 ± 2.23) μmol/L than that of quercetin, which was used as the standard, with an IC50 of(28.08 ± 2.39) μmol/L, followed by compound 1 with IC50 of(40.86 ± 3.45) μmol/L. On the other hand, compound 3 had the lowest antioxidant activity with an IC50 of(160.24 ± 8.15) μmol/L. | 10 | Predisposing factors’effects on mortality of oak (Quercus) and hickory (Carya) species in mature forests undergoing mesophication in Appalachian Ohio显示文摘Background:Mature oak(Quercus spp.)and hickory(Carya spp.)trees are gradually being replaced by more shadetolerant tree species across the eastern U.S.,likely due to fire suppression and increased precipitation.Oaks and hickories are highly valuable to wildlife;therefore,studying their mortality patterns can provide information on the longevity of habitat quality for many animal species.Oak mortality has most often been studied following large oak decline events,but background mortality rates in forests with aging oak and hickory canopies warrant equal attention,especially in the context of widespread oak and hickory regeneration failure.Methods:We studied background mortality rates of five oak and one hickory species over a 23–25 year time period(1993–1995 to 2018),using 821/20th hectare permanent plots on the Marietta Unit of the Wayne National Forest in southeastern Ohio.We calculated mortality rates based on remeasurement of individual trees for white oak(Quercus alba),chestnut oak(Quercus montana),northern red oak(Quercus rubra),black oak(Quercus velutina),scarlet oak(Quercus coccinea),and pignut hickory(Carya glabra).For each of these species other than scarlet oak,we also modeled the relationships of mortality probability with a priori topographic,soil,stand structural,and individual tree covariates,using a mixed-effects logistic regression framework.Results:The species with the highest mortality rate was scarlet oak(61.3%),followed by northern red oak(41.4%),black oak(26.7%),pignut hickory(23.9%),white oak(23.4%),and chestnut oak(19.1%).In our models,northern red oak mortality was associated with more mesic slope positions,shallower solums,more acidic soils,and older stand ages.Pignut hickory and chestnut oak mortality rates were associated with higher basal areas on the plot,while white oak mortality showed the opposite pattern.Conclusions:Our data suggest that red oak subgenus trees in mature forests of our area will become increasingly uncommon relative to white oak subgenus trees,as the result of higher mortality rates likely related to the shorter lifespans of these species.Particularly vulnerable areas may include more mesic topographic positions,shallower or more acidic soil,and older stands.Since maintaining oak subgenus diversity is beneficial to wildlife diversity in the eastern U.S.,managers in areas with extensive mature mixed-oak forests could choose to favor the red oak subgenus when conducting silvicultural treatments. | Don C.Radcliffe David M.Hix Stephen N.Matthews | 2021 | Forest Ecosystems2021,8,1: | 3 |

| 12 | Inter-and intra-specific phenotypic variation of ecological stoichiometric traits in a mixed-oak secondary forest in China显示文摘Ecological stoichiometry provides a framework for the balance and flow of elements between organisms and ecosystems.Elemental phenotypes have an important influence on the environmental adaptation and ecological evolution of plants.There have been few reports on inter-and intra-specific phenotypic variations of ecological stoichiometric traits for congeneric species in a mixed forest although such variations are well-documented at the species level at global,regional and local scales.In this study,total carbon(TC),nitrogen(TN),phosphorus(TP)and potassium(TK)were measured in leaves and the elemental phenotypes were statistically analyzed in four species of oaks—Quercus fabri,Q.serrata var.glandulifera,Q.acutissima and Q.variabilis—in a mixed-oak secondary forest in Yushan,Jiangsu,China.The average element concentrations in the four oak species were not relatively higher than previously reported for oaks from world and Chinese flora.Ecological stoichiometry traits were correlated with tree height and diameter at breast height,indicating that phosphorous and potassium were positively correlated with tree size,while carbon was negatively correlated,especially the relationship between oak growth and total carbon or total phosphorus was obvious,and the study concluded that this was because plant growth depended on phosphorus storage and had opposite effects on leaf carbon accumulation.Based on tree plasticity index and the coefficient of variation,there was medium variation in element concentrations.The plasticity index of total carbon levels was the lowest,and that of potassium the highest.Principal component analysis and cluster analysis showed that the intra-specific variation among the four oak species was higher than inter-specific variation.From the perspective of nutrient supply and ecological adaptation,this study creates a foundation for the management of secondary oak forest stands. | Yueyao Feng Xuan Li Biyao Zhou Rong Hu Huanchao Zhang Jiading Yang Yanming Fang | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,6: | 2 |

| 16 | Water relations of“trailing-edge”evergreen oaks in the semi-arid upper Yangtze region,SE Himalaya显示文摘Unlike the well-understood cold limit of trees,the causes of the dry trailing edge of trees await explanation.Here we aimed at explaining the drought limit of an evergreen oak species(Quercus pannosa s.l.)in a typical dry valley of the upper Yangtze region,SE Himalaya,where rains(ca.250 mm/a)are largely confined to the typical monsoon season(July-August)with drought during the remaining 9-10 months.We capitalized on an unintentional year-round irrigation treatment with trees growing along the overflow of a water reservoir serving as moist controls.We measured shoot water potential(Ψ),leaf conductance(g),flushing phenology,leaf mass per area(LMA),foliar and stemδ^(13)C,leaf nutrients,and non-structural carbohydrates across the transition from non-monsoon to monsoon season,from April to August 2018.At the dry site,Ψand g were high during the monsoon but declined to<−3 MPa as drought proceeded in the non-monsoon season.Irrigated oaks retained high values year-round.Oaks experiencing the natural drought flushed at the full strength onset of the monsoon only,that is,80 days later than irrigated oaks.The annual shoot increment in oaks under natural drought was ca.10%of that in irrigated oaks.However,mature foliage showed no difference in LMA andδ^(13)C between dry and moist sites.We conclude that these oaks drastically reduce their activity in response to drought,with growth strictly confined to the monsoon season,the minimum duration of which,presumably is setting the range limit. | Xiao-Fang He Song-Wei Wang Hang Sun Christian Körner Yang Yang | 2021 | Journal of Systematics and Evolution2021,59,6: | 1 |
| 17 | Population structure and spatial pattern analysis of Quercus aquifolioides on Sejila Mountain,Tibet,China显示文摘Understanding population structure provides basic ecological data related to species and ecosystems.Our objective was to understand the mechanisms involved in the maintenance of Quercus aquifolioides populations.Using a 1 ha permanent sample plot data for Q.aquifolioides on Sejila Mountain,Tibet Autonomous Region(Tibet),China,we analyzed the population structure of Q.aquifolioides by combining data for diameter class,static life table and survival curve.Simultaneously,the spatial distribution of Q.aquifolioides was studied using Ripley's L Function in point pattern analysis.The results showed:(1) Individuals in Q.aquifolioides populations were mainly aggregated in the youngest age classes,that accounted for94.3% of the individuals; the older age classes had much smaller populations.Although the youngest age classes(ClassesⅠ and Ⅱ) had fewer individuals than Class Ⅲ,the total number of individuals in classes Ⅰ and Ⅱ was also greater than in classes Ⅳ to Ⅸ.In terms of tree height,fewsaplings,more medium-sized saplings and few large-sized trees were found.The diameter class structure of Q.aquifolioides populations formed an atypical ‘pyramid'type; the population was expanding,but growth was limited,tending toward a stable population.(2) Mortality of Q.aquifolioides increased continuously with age; life expectancy decreased over time,and the survivorship curve was close to a Deevey I curve.(3) The spatial distribution pattern of Q.aquifolioides varied widely across different developmental stages.Saplings and medium-sized tree showed aggregated distributions at the scales of 0–33 m and 0–29 m,respectively.The aggregation intensities of saplings and medium-sized trees at small scales were significantly stronger than that of large-sized trees.However,large-sized trees showed a random distribution at most scales.(4) No correlation was observed among saplings,medium-and large-sized trees at small scales,while a significant and negative association was observed as the scale increased.Strong competition was found among saplings,medium-and large-sized trees,while no significant association was observed between medium-and largesized trees at all scales.Biotic interactions and local ecological characteristics influenced the spatial distribution pattern of Q.aquifolioides populations most strongly. | Zhiqiang Shen Jie Lu Min Hua Xiaoqin Tang Xingle Qu Jingli Xue Jiangping Fang | 2018 | Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,2: | 1 |

| 20 | Thinning effects on biomass and element concentrations of roots in adjacent hornbeam and oak stands in Istanbul,Turkey显示文摘Background:Thinning is a commonly used treatment in forest management which affects the tree root systems.The effects of thinning on element concentrations and seasonal change of roots were evaluated in adjacent oak(Quercus frainetto Ten.)and hornbeam(Carpinus betulus L.)stands according to the different root diameter classes.Method:Two replicated control and thinning plots(50m×50 m)were set for each species(hornbeam and oak).Thinning treatments(November 2010)reduced 50%of the basal area in both oak and hornbeam stands.Roots were assessed by seasonal collection over 2 years(from October 2010 to October 2012).The roots were then sorted into diameter classes of 0–2mm(fine roots),2–5mm(small roots)and>5mm(coarse roots).C,N,P,K,Ca,Na,Mg,S,Mn,Fe,Al,Zn,Pb,Ni,Cu and Cd were analyzed.Results:Except coarse roots,the highest root biomasses were determined in April-2011 in all plots.Fine-root biomass in oak was found significantly higher in control plots.In contrast to the oak,the fine-root biomass in the thinned hornbeam plots was higher than in the controls.The small-root biomass did not significantly differ between the thinned and the control plots in both oak and hornbeam stands.However,the coarse-root biomass showed significant differences between the control(1989 g∙m^(−2))and thinned plots(1060 g∙m^(−2))in oak,while no difference was detected in hornbeam.The concentrations of C,Al,Pb,Cd,Ni,Zn,Mn,Na,K,Mg and P in the fine roots of oak were significantly higher in the thinned plots.However,the concentration of Pb,Cd and Fe in the fine roots was significantly higher in the thinned plots of hornbeam.Significant differences were observed between the species for all elements in the fine roots except for C,N and P.In particular,elements in the fine roots tended to increase in July in the oak.In the hornbeam,all element concentrations in the fine roots(except C,N,and S)in the thinned plots showed a tendency to increase in April.The concentrations of Pb,Ni,Al,Fe,Cu,Ca,Na,K,Mg and P in the hornbeam control plots increased during the April 2011 period.Conclusion:The results indicated that thinning effects on temporal changes and concentrations of elements in the roots could be attributed to species-specific characteristics. | Serdar Akburak Ender Makineci | 2021 | Forest Ecosystems2021,8,1: | 0 |
