2High-Throughput Measurements of Stem Characteristics to Estimate Ear Density and Above-Ground Biomass显示文摘Total above-ground biomass at harvest and ear density are two important traits that characterize wheat genotypes.Two experiments were carried out in two different sites where several genotypes were grown under contrasted irrigation and nitrogen treatments.A high spatial resolution RGB camera was used to capture the residual stems standing straight after the cutting by the combine machine during harvest.It provided a ground spatial resolution better than 0.2 mm.A Faster Regional Convolutional Neural Network(Faster-RCNN)deep-learning model was first trained to identify the stems cross section.Results showed that the identification provided precision and recall close to 95%.Further,the balance between precision and recall allowed getting accurate estimates of the stem density with a relative RMSE close to 7%and robustness across the two experimental sites.The estimated stem density was also compared with the ear density measured in the field with traditional methods.A very high correlation was found with almost no bias,indicating that the stem density could be a good proxy of the ear density.The heritability/repeatability evaluated over 16 genotypes in one of the two experiments was slightly higher(80%)than that of the ear density(78%).The diameter of each stem was computed from the profile of gray values in the extracts of the stem cross section.Results show that the stem diameters follow a gamma distribution over eachmicroplot with an average diameter close to 2.0mm.Finally,the biovolume computed as the product of the average stem diameter,the stem density,and plant height is closely related to the above-ground biomass at harvest with a relative RMSE of 6%.Possible limitations of the findings and future applications are finally discussed.Xiuliang Jin Simon Madec Dan Dutartre Benoit de Solan Alexis Comar Frédéric Baret 2019Plant Phenomics2019,1,1:5

5Recent Progress of Biomarker Detection Sensors显示文摘Early cancer diagnosis and treatment are crucial research fields of human health.One method that has proven efficient is biomarker detection which can provide real-time and accurate biological information for early diagnosis.This review presents several biomarker sensors based on electrochemistry,surface plasmon resonance(SPR),nanowires,other nanostructures,and,most recently,metamaterials which have also shown their mechanisms and prospects in application in recent years.Compared with previous reviews,electrochemistry-based biomarker sensors have been classified into three strategies according to their optimizing methods in this review.This makes it more convenient for researchers to find a specific fabrication method to improve the performance of their sensors.Besides that,as microfabrication technologies have improved and novel materials are explored,some novel biomarker sensors—such as nanowire-based and metamaterial-based biomarker sensors—have also been investigated and summarized in this review,which can exhibit ultrahigh resolution,sensitivity,and limit of detection(LoD)in a more complex detection environment.The purpose of this review is to understand the present by reviewing the past.Researchers can break through bottlenecks of existing biomarker sensors by reviewing previous works and finally meet the various complex detection needs for the early diagnosis of human cancer.Ruitao Liu Xiongying Ye Tianhong Cui 2020Research2020,,1:3

8An example of earthquake nucleation of the strong continental earthquakes显示文摘 Introduction The study on earthquake nucleation is widely concerned by seismologists in the world. The experimental and theoretical studies indicate that earthquakes should be preceded by quasi-static slip within a nucleation zone (Oh-naka, 1992; Dodge, Beroza, 1995; Dodge, et al, 1996; Ohnaka, Kuwahara, 1990; Yamashita, Ohnaka, 1991). The earthquake nucleation process means a transition from quasi-static to quasi-dynamic rupture process, and it itself is a short-term precursor. Immediate foreshocks are local dynamic instabilities that occur during the transition from the quasi-static to the quasi-dynamic nucleation of the dynamic instability (Ohnaka, 1992). According to the recent theoretical study, immediate foreshocks can be regarded as the localized fractures accompanied by the quasi-static nucleation process of a large earthquake (Shibazaki, Matsu'ura, 1995). Therefore, foreshocks could occur during the nucleation process. The nucleation of earthquakes can be illuminated through analyzing foreshock activity in detail. Detection of the nucleation process by means of a foreshock study is a potential tool for earthquake predic-tion. The nucleation process of Izu peninsula earthquake with M=7.0 on January 14, 1978 is revealed by Ohnaka with foreshock activities. It was observed that the nucleation zone indicated by foreshocks grew at a rate of 1~40 cm/s before reaching a diameter of 10 km. The depths of foreshocks do not change much more, keep within 10 km. Recently, Hurukawa have studied the nucleation process of Off-Etorofu earthquake with MW=7.9 on December 3, 1995. The results show distinctly the nucleation process before the main shock. In the nucleation process, rupture started at the deepest point of the foreshock area, and then propagated to the shallow depth with the apparent ve-locity of 5~20 cm/s (Hurukawa, 1998). Rastogi and Mandal (1998) studied the rupture nucleation process of five Koyna medium-sized main shocks using the time-space patterns of foreshocks. They found that the nucleation zone grew at a rate of 0.5~10 cm/s until it finally attained a diameter of about 10 km before the occurrence of the main shock and the fracture nucleated at shallow depths and gradually deepened, the main shock occurred at the deepest point of the nucleation zone, that is, at the depth of about 8~11 km.
