| 1 | CAS FGOALS-f3-L Model Datasets for CMIP6 Historical Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project Simulation显示文摘The outputs of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System(FGOALS-f3-L) model for the baseline experiment of the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project simulation in the Diagnostic,Evaluation and Characterization of Klima common experiments of phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6) are described in this paper. The CAS FGOALS-f3-L model, experiment settings, and outputs are all given. In total,there are three ensemble experiments over the period 1979–2014, which are performed with different initial states. The model outputs contain a total of 37 variables and include the required three-hourly mean, six-hourly transient, daily and monthly mean datasets. The baseline performances of the model are validated at different time scales. The preliminary evaluation suggests that the CAS FGOALS-f3-L model can capture the basic patterns of atmospheric circulation and precipitation well, including the propagation of the Madden–Julian Oscillation, activities of tropical cyclones, and the characterization of extreme precipitation. | 3 | Deep Learning Accelerates the Discovery of Two- Dimensional Catalysts for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction显示文摘Two-dimensional materials with active sites are expected to replace platinum as large-scale hydrogen production catalysts.However,the rapid discovery of excellent two-dimensional hydrogen evolution reaction catalysts is seriously hindered due to the long experiment cycle and the huge cost of high-throughput calculations of adsorption energies.Considering that the traditional regression models cannot consider all the potential sites on the surface of catalysts,we use a deep learning method with crystal graph convolutional neural networks to accelerate the discovery of high-performance two-dimensional hydrogen evolution reaction catalysts from two-dimensional materials database,with the prediction accuracy as high as 95.2%.The proposed method considers all active sites,screens out 38 high performance catalysts from 6,531 two-dimensional materials,predicts their adsorption energies at different active sites,and determines the potential strongest adsorption sites.The prediction accuracy of the two-dimensional hydrogen evolution reaction catalysts screening strategy proposed in this work is at the density-functional-theory level,but the prediction speed is 10.19 years ahead of the high-throughput screening,demonstrating the capability of crystal graph convolutional neural networks-deep learning method for efficiently discovering high-performance new structures over a wide catalytic materials space. | Sicheng Wu Zhilong Wang Haikuo Zhang Junfei Cai Jinjin Li | 2023 | Energy & Environmental Materials2023,6,1: | 1 |

| 7 | Review of theoretical achievements for starting flow problem for all Mach numbers显示文摘The typical behavior of unsteady flow and force evolution in a number of applications,such as aero-elastics, gust-wing interaction, flapping flight and flight maneuvering, can be understood using the starting flow model. Starting flow model is obtained either by setting rapidly an angle of attack for a wing moving at constant speed, or by accelerating a wing to a constant speed while gaining an angle of attack. In the limiting case of impulsively starting flow, the wing is assumed to gain suddenly an angle of attack in an initially uniform flow. Theories have been developed for impulsively starting flow at small angle of attack long before and at large angle of attack only recently, especially for incompressible and supersonic flow. This paper intends to provide a state-of-art overview of the typical flow phenomena, force evolution characteristics and developed theories for impulsively starting flow at any angle of attack and for both lower speed flow(vortex dominated) and high speed flow(compressible wave dominated). | 15 | Habitat selection and food choice of White-naped Cranes(Grus vipio)at stopover sites based on satellite tracking and stable isotope analysis显示文摘By combining satellite tracking,land-cover extracted from Landsite 8 images,and the traditional stable isotope analysis,we studied the habitat selection and food preference of a vulnerable migratory waterbird,the Whitenaped Crane(Grus vipio),in one of its key stagging sites,the Shandian River Basin in the semi-arid northern China,to provide knowledge that is critical for its conservation in the Anthropocene.Our results showed that the White-naped Cranes used both uplands and natural wetlands in the stopover site.While the cranes used farmland and natural land cover equally as night-time roosting grounds,they spent most daytime foraging at farmlands.Despite the extensive usage of croplands as their foraging ground,the Bayesian mixing models based on stable isotopic analysis revealed that crop residues after harvesting,such as Maize(Zea mays)and Naked Oat(Avena chinensis),were only a small fraction of the White-naped Cranes’diet(~19%),and their diet composited mainly natural plants,such as Allium ledebourianum,Potentilla anserina,and P.tanacetifoli.Moreover,more than 20%of the total wetlands in the region were modelled as home range of the cranes.On contrast,less than 10%of croplands and about 1%of the unused uplands were identified as home range.In addition,the entire core habitats were located in natural wetlands.Our findings demonstrated the importance of natural wetlands for the survival of the threatened crane.However,the satellite-derived land cover data showed that croplands increased rapidly in the last decade in this area,at the expense of natural wetlands.With the sharp decrease of White-naped Crane population in China,the conservation of stopover sites becomes imperative.Based on our analysis,we recommend the following management actions:conserving adequate natural wetland area,regulating anthropogenic pressures such as the use of herbicides,expanding the duration and extent of current conservation regulations,establishing a comprehensive monitoring program,and initiating basin-scale ecological restoration,for effective conservation of this threatened species.These integrated conservation strategies for migratory waterbirds are necessary,considering the rapid land-cover changes and agricultural expansion that have been occurring in East Asian-Australasian Flyway,especially in the semi-arid temperate zone. | Yunzhu Liu Lan Wu Jia Guo Shengwu Jiao Sicheng Ren Cai Lu Yuyu Wang Yifei Jia Guangchun Lei Li Wen Liying Su | 2022 | Avian Research2022,13,4: | 0 |
