| 1 | Review on“Long-Dan”,one of the traditional Chinese medicinal herbs recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeia显示文摘“Long-Dan”is an important traditional Chinese medicinal(TCM)herb used widely for the treatment of inflammation,hepatitis,rheumatism,cholecystitis,and tuberculosis.In the Chinese Pharmacopoeia,the roots and rhizomes of four species from the genus Gentiana(Gentianaceae)are recorded as the original materials of“Long-Dan”,called Gentianae Radix et Rhizoma.The species included G.manshurica,G.scabra,G.triflora and G.rigescens,which are distributed in different areas of China.Though iridoid and secoiridoid glucosides were reported as the main constituents in“Long-Dan”,these four different species also resulted in different minor components,which may related to their pharmacological activities.Herein,we summarized the herbal textual study,distribution,chemical constituents,biological investigation and quality control of the recorded“Long-Dan”origins in Chinese Pharmacopoeia during the period 1960 to 2011. | Yan-Ming WANG Min XU Dong WANG Hong-Tao ZHU Chong-Ren YANG Ying-Jun ZHANG | 2012 | Natural Products and Bioprospecting2012,2,1: | 20 |

| 6 | Characterization of Aroma-Active Components and Antioxidant Activity Analysis of E-jiao(Colla CoriiAsini)from Different Geographical Origins显示文摘E-jiao(Colla Corii Asini,CCA)has been widely used as a healthy food and Chinese medicine.Although authentic CCA is characterized by its typical sweet and neutral fragrance,its aroma components have been rarely investigated.This work investigated the aroma-active components and antioxidant activity of 19 CCAs from different geographical origins.CCA extracts obtained by simultaneous distillation and extraction were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS),gas chromatography-olfactometry(GC-O)and sensory analysis.The antioxidant activity of CCAs was determined by ABTS and DPPH assays.A total of 65 volatile compounds were identified and quantified by GC-MS and 23 aroma-active compounds were identified by GC-O and aroma extract dilution analysis.The most powerful aroma-active compounds were identified based on the flavor dilution factor and their contents were compared among the 19 CCAs.Principal component analysis of the 23 aroma-active components showed 3 significant clusters.Canonical correlation analysis between antioxidant assays and the 23 aroma-active compounds indicates strong correlation(r=0.9776,p=0.0281).Analysis of aroma-active components shows potential for quality evaluation and discrimination of CCAs from different geographical origins. | Shan Zhang Lu Xu Yang-Xi Liu Hai-Yan Fu Zuo-Bing Xiao Yuan-Bin She | 2018 | Natural Products and Bioprospecting2018,8,2: | 9 |

| 10 | Anticancer Properties of Lobetyolin,an Essential Component of Radix Codonopsis(Dangshen)显示文摘Lobetyolin(LBT)is a polyacetylene glycoside found in diverse medicinal plants but mainly isolated from the roots of Codo-nopsis pilosula,known as Radix Codonopsis or Dangshen.Twelve traditional Chinese medicinal preparations containing Radix Codonopsis were identified;they are generally used to tonify spleen and lung Qi and occasionally to treat cancer.Here we have reviewed the anticancer properties of Codonopsis extracts,LBT and structural analogs.Lobetyolin and lobetyolinin are the mono-and bis-glucosylated forms of the polyacetylenic compound lobetyol.Lobetyol and LBT have shown activi-ties against several types of cancer(notably gastric cancer)and we examined the molecular basis of their activity.A down-regulation of glutamine metabolism by LBT has been evidenced,contributing to drug-induced apoptosis and tumor growth inhibition.LBT markedly reduces both mRNA and protein expression of the amino acid transporter Alanine-Serine-Cysteine Transporter 2(ASCT2).Other potential targets are proposed here,based on the structural analogy with other anticancer compounds.LBT and related polyacetylene glycosides should be further considered as potential anticancer agents,but more work is needed to evaluate their efficacy,toxicity,and risk-benefit ratio. | Christian Bailly | 2021 | Natural Products and Bioprospecting2021,11,2: | 8 |

| 12 | Traditional Uses and Pharmacologically Active Constituents of Dendrobium Plants for Dermatological Disorders:A Review显示文摘than 80 Dendrobium species have been reported in China.However,there are only six Dendrobium species,namely,D.bigibbum var.superbum(syn.D.phalaenopsis),D.chrysanthum,D.fimbriatum,D.loddigesii,D.nobile,and D.officinale(syn.D.candidum),listed in the New Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients in China Launched.Artificial planting of Dendrobium species has been a great success in China.To better utilize Dendrobium resources for medicinal and cosmetic purposes,we summarize their traditional uses and pharmacologically active compounds for treating dermatological disorders in this review.“Orchidaceae”,“Dendrobium”,“traditional use”,“ethnobotany”,“dermatological disorder”,and“skin disease”were used as search terms to screen the literature.Cited references were collected between 1970 and 2020 from the Web of Science,China National Knowledge Internet(CNKI),SciFinder,Google Scholar,and Chinese books.From the search,it was found that there are 22 Dendrobium species with traditional uses in dermatological disorders,and 131 compounds from Dendrobium plants have been reported to possess anti-inflammatory,antimicrobial,antioxidant,antiaging,anti-psoriasis,and tyrosinase-inhibitory activities,implying that Dendrobium plants are important resources for the discovery of active compounds and the development of new drugs and cosmetics.D.crepidatum,D.denneanum,D.loddigesii,D.nobile,and D.officinale have been extensively studied.More research on other Dendrobium species is needed.The major active compounds found in Dendrobium species are phenanthrenes,alkaloids,flavonoids,phenylpropanoids,and lignans.Several compounds,such as loddigesiinol A,(S)-5-methoxy-2,4,7,9-tetrahydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene,(S)-4-methoxy-2,5,7,9-tetrahydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene,2,5-dihydroxy-4-methoxy-phenanthrene 2-O-β-d-glucopyranoside,(9R)-1,2,5,9-tetrahydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene 5-O-β-d-glucopyranoside,(+)-homocrepidine A,and vicenin 2,have significant anti-inflammatory activities and inhibit nitric oxide(NO)production with IC_(50) values less than 5μM,and these compounds are worthy of further study. | Yue-Hu Wang | 2021 | Natural Products and Bioprospecting2021,11,5: | 8 |
