2SOME RESULTS OF UPPER ATMOSPHERIC COMPOSITION MEASUREMENTS BY A MASS-SPECTROMETER ON BOARD 'SZ-2':CHANGE OF COMPOSITIONS DURING SOLAR AND GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCES显示文摘Upper atmosphere composition data were obtained for the last half year with a quadruple mass spectrometer on board spacecraft 'SZ-2' launched on 10 Jan uary 2001. Based on the analysis of these data, the variations of atmospheric compositions in solar and geomagnetic quiet conditions are reported first, then a detailed discussion on the atmospheric composition variations under the so lar and geomagnetic disturbed conditions is given. The results show that near the altitude of 400 km the variations of main atmospheric compositions corre sponding to solar disturbances are more remarkable in the sunlit area than in the shade area. 3CHANGES OF THE THERMOSPHERE DENSITY IN THE SUNSHINE AND SHADE AREA OBSERVED BY 'SZ-2' ATMOSPHERIC DENSITY DETECTOR显示文摘In this paper, thermosphere density data of 'SZ-2' Atmospheric Density Detec tor From February to April 2001 are used to study the changes of the thermo sphere density in the sunshine and shaded area during solar and geomagnetic activity. 4Bats adjust temporal parameters of echolocation pulses but not those of communication calls in response to traffic noise显示文摘Many studies based on acute short-term noise exposure have demonstrated that animals can adjust their vocal­izations in response to ambient noise.However,the effects of chronic noise over a relatively long time scale of multiple days remain largely unclear.Bats rely mainly on acoustic signals for perception of environmental and social communication.Nearly all previous studies on noise-induced vocal adjustments have focused on echo­location pulse sounds.Relatively little is known regarding the effects of noise on social communication calls.Here,we examined the dynamic changes in the temporal parameters of echolocation and communication vocal­izations of Vespertilio sinensis when exposed to traffic noise over multiple days.We found that the bats start­ed to modify their echolocation vocalizations on the fourth day of noise exposure,with an increase of 42-91%in the total number of pulse sequences per day.Under noisy conditions,the number of pulses within a pulse se­quence decreased by an average of 17.2%,resulting in a significantly slower number of pulses/sequence(P<0.001).However,there was little change in the duration of a pulse sequence.These parameters were not signifi­cantly adjusted in most communication vocalizations under the noise condition(all P>0.05),except that the duration decreased and the number of syllables/sequences increased in 1 type of communicative vocalization(P<0.05).This study suggests that bats routinely adjust temporal parameters of echolocation but rarely of com­munication vocalizations in response to noise condition.Shengjing SONG Aiqing LIN Tinglei JIANG Xin ZHAO Walter METZNER Jiang FENG 2019Integrative Zoology2019,14,6:1
5Peanut drying:Effects of various drying methods on drying kinetic models,physicochemical properties,germination characteristics,and microstructure显示文摘The current work aims to explore the suitable drying technique for peanut pods which can be used for seeds or edible peanuts.Four drying methods,namely naturally-open sun drying as the control check(CK),hot air drying(HAD),pulsed vacuum drying(PVD),and radio frequency combined hot air drying(RF-HAD),were employed to dry peanut pods,and their effects on the nutritional quality attributes in terms of protein,fat,fatty acid contents,etc.,germination characteristics,microstructure,color,texture,acid value and peroxide value of peanuts were explored.Mathematical models of peanuts drying with four drying methods were also established.According to the statistical parameters including the determination coefficient(R^(2))、root mean square error(RMSE)and chi-square value(v^(2)),theWeibull model was best for predicting the moisture ratio change kinetics of peanuts during its four drying processes.There were significant differences in physicochemical indexes of peanut by different drying methods(p<0.05).Fat and oleic acid contents under RF-HAD were significantly higher than those by the other three drying methods.Compared with the naturally-open sun drying,RF-HAD reduced drying time by 76.70%and the microstructure of RF-HAD peanuts produced larger and more cavities.The RF-HAD kept better comprehensive nutritional quality,but the germination rate was reduced by 27.80%.PVD could maintain good nutritional quality and germination rate among these mechanical drying technologies.However,PVD had a longer drying time of 9.5 h than RF-HAD and HAD,and the microstructure of pulsed vacuum dried peanuts showed dense structure and less cavity.Hot air-dried peanut kernel held the highest protein(28.75%),fatty acids contents(26.11%)and germination rate(88.00%).However,peanut kernel dried by HAD showed poor qualities,such as high acid value,peroxide value and large color changes.These findings indicated RF-HAD was a promising drying technique for edible peanuts regarding the higher drying rate and better-quality preservation,while HAD was suitable for peanut seeds drying as it could well protect the germination rate.Yongkang Xie Yawen Lin Xingyi Li Hui Yang Junhao Han Chaojie Shang Aiqing Li Hongwei Xiao Fengyin Lu 2023Information Processing in Agriculture2023,10,4:0

7Adaptive temporal patterns of echolocation and flight behaviors used to fly through varied-sized windows by 2 species of high duty cycle bats显示文摘As actively sensing animals guided by acoustic information, echolocating bats must adapt their vocal–motor behavior to various environmentsand behavioral tasks. Here, we investigated how the temporal patterns of echolocation and flight behavior were adjusted in 2 species of batswith a high duty cycle (HDC) call structure, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum and Hipposideros armiger, when they flew along a straight corridorand then passed through windows of 3 different sizes. We also tested whether divergence existed in the adaptations of the 2 species. Both H.armiger and R. ferrumequinum increased their call rates by shortening the pulse duration and inter-pulse interval for more rapid spatial samplingof the environment when flying through smaller windows. Bats produced more sonar sound groups (SSGs) while maintaining a stable proportion of calls that made up SSGs during approaches to smaller windows. The 2 species showed divergent adjustment in flight behavior across3 different window sizes. Hipposideros armiger reduced its flight speed to pass through smaller windows while R. ferrumequinum increasedits flight speed. 8Hydrogenation of phenylpyruvic acid to phenylalanine catalyzed by Ni-B/SiO_2显示文摘Phenylalanine (Phe) is a significant amino acid that cannot be synthesized by human themselves but must be taken from environment. It was initially found that the nanosized amorphous Ni-B/SiO2 alloy prepared by the chemical reduction method was an effective catalyst for the preparation of Phe from phenylpyruvic acid (PPA) by amination and hydrogenation. It has been found that the amorphous Ni-B/SiO2 alloy catalyst exhibits superior activity and selectivity to the traditional catalysts Raney Ni and Urushibara nickel. The effects of reaction time, amounts of catalysts and ammonia solution, reaction temper- ature, and H2 pressure on the reaction have been investigated systematically. The results indicated that the yield of Phe was 97.9%, and the selectivity for Phe reached 98.9% when the reaction was carried out for 3 h at 333 K and 2.0 MPa of H2 with m(Cat.) : m(PPA) = 0.6 : 1.0 and n(NH3) : n(PPA) = 3 : 1. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, AAS, XPS, BET, and TEM, and the relationship between the catalyst structure and the catalytic activity was discussed in detail. It was found that the reason why Ni-B/SiO2 amorphous alloy catalyst was much more active for the preparation of Phe could be accounted for by the presence of electron-rich Ni due to electron donation from alloying B; the smaller size of Ni-B particles, the larger specific surface area of Ni-B/SiO2.Qunfang Liang Aiqing Zhang Lin Li 2008Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2008,17,3:0
