| 1 | An in vivo study with an MRI tracer method reveals the biophysical properties of interstitial fluid in the rat brain显示文摘The nature of brain interstitial fluid (ISF) has long been a subject of controversy. Most of the previous studies on brain ISF were carried out in vitro. In the present study, a novel method was developed to characterize ISF in the living rat brain by magnetic resonance (MR) imaging using gadolinium-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA) as a tracer. Sprague Dawley rats (n=8) were subjected to MR scanning before and after the introduction of Gd-DTPA into the caudate nucleus. A one-way drainage of brain ISF was demonstrated on the dynamic MR images. According to the traditional diffusion model, the diffusion and clearance rate constants of the tracer within brain extracellular space (ECS) were derived as (3.38±1.07)×10-4 mm 2 s-1 and (7.60±4.18)×10-5 s-1 . Both diffusion and bulk flow contributed to the drainage of ISF from the caudate nucleus, which demonstrated an ISF-cerebrospinal fluid confluence in the subarachnoid space at the lateral and ventral surface of the brain cortex at 3 h after the injection. | 2 | Reproductive management through integration of PGD and MPS-based noninvasive prenatal screening/diagnosis for a family with GJB2-associated hearing impairment显示文摘A couple with a proband child of GJB2(encoding the gap junction protein connexin 26)-associated hearing impairment and a previous pregnancy miscarriage sought for a reproductive solution to bear a healthy child. Our study aimed to develop a customized preconception-to-neonate care trajectory to fulfill this clinical demand by integrating preimplantation genetic diagnosis(PGD), noninvasive prenatal testing(NIPT), and noninvasive prenatal diagnosis(NIPD) into the strategy. Auditory and genetic diagnosis of the proband child was carried out to identify the disease causative mutations. The couple then received in-vitro-fertilization treatment, and eight embryos were obtained for day 5 biopsy. PGD was performed by short-tandem-repeat linkage analysis and Sanger sequencing of GJB2 gene. Transfer of a GJB2 c.235del C heterozygous embryo resulted in a singleton pregnancy. At the 13 th week of gestation, genomic DNA(g DNA) from the trio family and cell-free DNA(cf DNA) from maternal plasma were obtained for assessment of fetal chromosomal aneuploidy and GJB2 mutations. NIPT and NIPD showed the absence of chromosomal aneuploidy and GJB2-associated disease in the fetus, which was later confirmed by invasive procedures and postnatal genetic/auditory diagnosis. | 4 | Numerical simulation on the seismic absorption effect of the cushion in rigid-pile composite foundation显示文摘In order to quantitatively study the seismic absorption effect of the cushion on a superstructure, a numerical simulation and parametric study are carried out on the overall FEA model of a rigid-pile composite foundation in ABAQUS. A simulation of a shaking table test on a rigid mass block is first completed with ABAQUS and EERA, and the effectiveness of the Drucker-Prager constitutive model and the finite-infinite element coupling method is proved. Dynamic time-history analysis of the overall model under frequent and rare earthquakes is carried out using seismic waves from the El Centro, Kobe, and Bonds earthquakes. The different responses of rigid-pile composite foundations and pile-raft foundations are discussed. Furthermore, the influence of thickness and modulus of cushion, and ground acceleration on the seismic absorption effect of the cushion are analyzed. | 6 | Influence of freeze tube deviation on the development of frozen wall during long cross-passage construction显示文摘This paper investigates the influence of the deviation in freeze pipe installation on the development of the frozen wall in long cross passages by numerical simulation with ANSYS software.The study case is from the artificial ground freezing project along the Fuzhou Metro Line 2 between Ziyang Station and Wuliting Station.Two freezepipe configurations,i.e.,one with perfectly aligned pipes without any deviation from design and another with randomly distributed deviation,are included for comparison.The effect of the random deviation in the freeze pipes on frozen wall interconnection time,the thickness of the frozen wall and the development of the temperature field is explored.For the characteristic section of the numerical model at a depth of 25 m,it is found that the frozen wall interconnection time under the random deviation case and no deviation case is 24 days and 18 days,respectively.The difference in the thickness of the thinnest frozen wall segment between the random deviation and no deviation cases is the largest in the early freezing stage(up to 0.75 m),which decreases with time to 0.31 m in the late freezing stage.The effects of random deviation are more significant in the early freezing stage and diminish as the freezing time increases. | JunHao Chen JianLin Wang LeXiao Wang Han Li MeiLin Chen | 2022 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2022,14,4: | 2 |

| 8 | Original Sedimentary Pattern of an Inverted Basin:A Case Study from the Bozhong Depression,Offshore Bohai Bay Basin显示文摘The third member of Shahejie Formation(Sha-3 member; 42–38Ma of Eocene) in the Bozhong Depression,offshore Bohai Bay Basin was subject to multiple post-depositional modifications. The present structural framework of the Bozhong Depression,which is characterized by sags alternating with uplifts,does not reflect its original sedimentary pattern. Previous studies have not discussed the post-depositional modification of this succession,including the sedimentary pattern variations and the depositional geodynamic setting. This work determined the characteristics of the post-depositional modification and original sedimentary pattern of the Bozhong Depression through analysis of seismic data,well-log data and fission-track ages. The results demonstrate that the Shijiutuo rise,a major structural feature of the current basin,did not exist during the major depositional stage of the Sha-3 member,when the Qinnan sag was largely connected to the Bozhong sag to form a single contiguous deposition area within the basin. By contrast,the Shaleitian and Chengbei rises,located in the western part of the Bozhong Depression,have existed before the depositional period of the Eocene Sha-3 member; these features were manifested as syn-depositional tilted fault blocks,the uplifted footwall blocks of which provided sediments for the neighboring Shanan and Chengbei sags. The western part of the Bonan low rise,located in the southern part of the Bozhong Depression,did not experience uplifting during the depositional phase of the Eocene Sha-3 member. The Huanghekou sag was connected with the Bozhong sag in the western part of the Bozhong Depression. The original sedimentary boundary of the southern Miaoxi sag possibly extended eastward about 10 km and connected with the Bozhong sag at its northern part. The present-day Bodong low rise,which is bounded by the Tan–Lu fault zone,also formed after the depositional period of Eocene Sha-3 member. It is thus concluded that the Bozhong Depression formed a connected large-scale sub-basin during the depositional stage of the Eocene Sha-3 member. Several neighboring sags that are now separated by rises,including the Qinnan,Shanan,Chengbei,Huanghekou,Miaoxi and Bodong sags,formed a single contiguous depositional area during the Eocene. | 11 | First-principles study on the alkali chalcogenide secondary compounds in Cu(In,Ga)Se_2 and Cu_2ZnSn(S,Se)_4 thin film solar cells显示文摘The beneficial effect of the alkali metals such as Na and K on the Cu(In,Ga)Se_2(CIGS) and Cu_2ZnSn(S,Se)_4(CZTSSe) solar cells has been extensively investigated in the past two decades, however, in most of the studies the alkali metals were treated as dopants. Several recent studies have showed that the alkali metals may not only act as dopants but also form secondary phases in the absorber layer or on the surfaces of the films. Using the first-principles calculations, we screened out the most probable secondary phases of Na and K in CIGS and CZTSSe, and studied their electronic structures and optical properties. We found that all these alkali chalcogenide compounds have larger band gaps and lower VBM levels than CIGS and CZTSSe, because the existence of strong p-d coupling in CIS and CZTS pushes the valence band maximum(VBM) level up and reduces the band-gaps, while there is no such p-d coupling in these alkali chalcogenides. This band alignment repels the photo-generated holes from the secondary phases and prevents the electron-hole recombination. Moreover, the study on the optical properties of the secondary phases showed that the absorption coefficients of these alkali chalcogenides are much lower than those of CIGS and CZTSSe in the energy range of 0-3.4 e V, which means that the alkali chalcogenides may not influence the absorption of solar light. | 18 | Peanut drying:Effects of various drying methods on drying kinetic models,physicochemical properties,germination characteristics,and microstructure显示文摘The current work aims to explore the suitable drying technique for peanut pods which can be used for seeds or edible peanuts.Four drying methods,namely naturally-open sun drying as the control check(CK),hot air drying(HAD),pulsed vacuum drying(PVD),and radio frequency combined hot air drying(RF-HAD),were employed to dry peanut pods,and their effects on the nutritional quality attributes in terms of protein,fat,fatty acid contents,etc.,germination characteristics,microstructure,color,texture,acid value and peroxide value of peanuts were explored.Mathematical models of peanuts drying with four drying methods were also established.According to the statistical parameters including the determination coefficient(R^(2))、root mean square error(RMSE)and chi-square value(v^(2)),theWeibull model was best for predicting the moisture ratio change kinetics of peanuts during its four drying processes.There were significant differences in physicochemical indexes of peanut by different drying methods(p<0.05).Fat and oleic acid contents under RF-HAD were significantly higher than those by the other three drying methods.Compared with the naturally-open sun drying,RF-HAD reduced drying time by 76.70%and the microstructure of RF-HAD peanuts produced larger and more cavities.The RF-HAD kept better comprehensive nutritional quality,but the germination rate was reduced by 27.80%.PVD could maintain good nutritional quality and germination rate among these mechanical drying technologies.However,PVD had a longer drying time of 9.5 h than RF-HAD and HAD,and the microstructure of pulsed vacuum dried peanuts showed dense structure and less cavity.Hot air-dried peanut kernel held the highest protein(28.75%),fatty acids contents(26.11%)and germination rate(88.00%).However,peanut kernel dried by HAD showed poor qualities,such as high acid value,peroxide value and large color changes.These findings indicated RF-HAD was a promising drying technique for edible peanuts regarding the higher drying rate and better-quality preservation,while HAD was suitable for peanut seeds drying as it could well protect the germination rate. | Yongkang Xie Yawen Lin Xingyi Li Hui Yang Junhao Han Chaojie Shang Aiqing Li Hongwei Xiao Fengyin Lu | 2023 | Information Processing in Agriculture2023,10,4: | 0 |
