Effect of transferring lignocellulose-degrading bacteria from termite to rumen fluid of sheep on in vitro gas production, fermentation parameters, microbial populations and enzyme activity显示文摘The digestive tract of termite(Microcerotermes diversus) contains a variety of lignocellulose-degrading bacteria with exocellulases enzyme activity, not found in the rumen, which could potentially improve fiber degradation in the rumen. The objectives of the current study were to determine the effect of inoculation of rumen fluid(RF) with three species of bacteria isolated from termite digestive tract, Bacillus licheniformis, Ochrobactrum intermedium, and Microbacterium paludicola, on in vitro gas production(IVGP), fermentation parameters, nutrient disappearance, microbial populations, and hydrolytic enzyme activities with fibrous wheat straw(WS) and date leaf(DL) as incubation substrate. Inoculation of RF with either of three termite bacteria increased(P<0.05) ammonia-N concentration compared with the control group(free of termite gut bacteria). Termite bacteria inoculation had no effect(P>0.05) on gas production characteristics, dry matter, organic matter and neutral detergent fiber disappearance, pH, and concentration and composition of volatile fatty acids. Population of proteolytic bacteria and protozoa, but not cellulolytic bacteria, were increased(P<0.05) when RF was inoculated with termite bacteria with both WS and DL substrates. Inoculation of RF with termite bacteria increased protease activity, while activities of carboxymethyl-cellulase, microcrystalline-cellulase, α-amylase and filter paper degrading activity remained unchanged(P>0.05). Overall, the results of this study indicated that transferring lignocellulose-degrading bacteria, isolated from digestive tract of termite, to rumen liquid increased protozoa and proteolytic bacteria population and consequently increased protease activity and ammonia-N concentration in vitro, however, no effect on fermentation and fiber degradation parameters were detected. These results suggest that the termite bacteria might be rapidly lysed by the rumen microbes before beneficial effects on the rumen fermentation process could occur.Ayoub AZIZI Afrooz SHARIFI Hasan FAZAELI Arash AZARFAR Arjan JONKER Ali KIANI 2020Journal of Integrative Agriculture2020,19,5:3
Assessing dynamic response of multispan viscoelastic thin beams under a moving mass via generalized moving least square method显示文摘Dynamic response of multispan viscoelastic thin beams subjected to a moving mass is studied by an efficient numerical method in some detail. To this end,the unknown parameters of the problem are discretized in spatial domain using generalized moving least square method(GMLSM) and then, discrete equations of motion based on Lagrange's equation are obtained.Maximum deflection and bending moments are considered as the important design parameters. The design parameter spectra in terms of mass weight and velocity of the moving mass are presented for multispan viscoelastic beams as well as various values of relaxation rate and beam span number.A reasonable good agreement is achieved between the results of the proposed solution and those obtained by other researchers. The results indicate that, although the load inertia effects in beams with higher span number would be intensified for higher levels of moving mass velocity, the maximum values of design parameters would increase either. Moreover, the possibility of mass separation is shown to be more critical as the span number of the beam increases. This fact also violates the linear relation between the mass weight of the moving load and the associated design parameters, especially for high moving mass velocities. However,as the relaxation rate of the beam material increases, the load inertia effects as well as the possibility of moving mass separation reduces.Keivan Kiani Ali Nikkhoo Bahman Mehri 2010Acta Mechanica Sinica2010,26,5:3
Iran supports a great share of biodiversity and floristic endemism for Fritillaria spp.(Liliaceae):A review显示文摘Iran supports a great share of exotic and/or endemic plant genera and species. The genus Fritillaria(Liliaceae) is a precious part of this botanical richness with 19 species, of which 10 are endemic to the country. However, signs are mounting that the country is truly at a crossroads when it comes to preservation of this national wealth. In this regard, an effective conservation strategy should thoroughly consider the classification of Fritillaria, as conservation practices are compromised by knowledge gaps in systematics and taxonomy. As published studies on Fritillaria in Iran have been sporadic and limited in scope, the aim of this review is to provide information necessary to help bridge these information gaps. Our objective is to facilitate increased understanding of the geographic, taxonomic, cytogenetic and phylogenetic status of Iranian Fritilloria, which is vital to meeting the goal of sustainable conservation of the genus in Iran and neighboring areas.Mahmoud Kiani Shirin Mohammadi Alireza Babaei Fatemeh Sefidkon Mohamad Reza Naghavi Mojtaba Ranjbar Seyed Ali Razavi Keramatollah Saeidi Hadi Jafari Davoud Asgari Daniel Potter 2017Plant Diversity2017,39,5:2

Dual effects of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy) on survival and apoptosis of primary hippocampal neurons显示文摘BACKGROUND: 3, 4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, also known as 'ecstasy') hasbeen shown to exhibit neurotoxic effects on the hippocampus. However, exposure to sub-lethalinsults of MDMA has been reported to result in neuroprotection.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of MDMA on hippocampal neuronal viability, caspase-3activity, and mRNA expression of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor 2B (NR2B) subunit.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A cytological, in vitro experiment was performed at the Departmentof Anatomy, School of Medicine, and Department of Toxicology-Pharmacology, Faculty of PharmacyTehran University of Medical Sciences in 2008.MATERIALS: MDMA was extracted from ecstasy tablets, which were kindly supplied by thePharmacology-Toxicology Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran.METHODS: Hippocampal neurons were isolated from Wistar rats at gestational day 18. Followingprimary culture, hippocampal neuronal viability was detected by MTT assay. Varying concentrationsof MDMA (100 5 000 μmol/L) were used to determine lethal concentration 50 (LC50), which wasaround 1 500 μmol/L. Five concentrations of MDMA below 1 500 μmol/L (100, 200, 400, 800, and1 050 μmol/L) were used for the remaining experiments. After 24 hours of MDMA treatment,NR2B mRNA expression was detected by RT-PCR, and caspase-3 relative activity was determinedby colorimetric assay.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Hippocampal neuronal viability, caspase-3 activity, andNR2B mRNA expression.RESULTS: MDMA-induced neurotoxicity in hippocampal neuronal cultures was dose-dependent. Inhigh concentrations (1 000-5 000 μmol/L) of MDMA, neuronal viability was decreased. However, with a 500 μmol/L dose of MDMA, neuronal viability was significantly increased (P < 0.01). Lowconcentrations of MDMA (200 and 400 μmol/L) significantly decreased caspase-3 activity (P < 0.01),whereas high concentrations of MDMA significantly increased caspase-3 activity (P < 0.01). NR2Bsubunit mRNA expression was not significantly altered after 100 1 050 μmol/L MDMA exposure.CONCLUSION: MDMA exhibits dual effects on hippocampal neuronal viability and caspase-3activitv. These effects are independent from NR2B subunit expression levels.Abolfazl Azami Parichehr Pasbakhsh Mohammad Akbari Mohammad Barbarestani Mohammadhosein Ghahremani Mohammadali Shokrgozar Ali Mandegary Amir Kiani Gholamreza Hassanzadeh 2009Neural Regeneration Research2009,4,12:1
Study of phylogenic relationships of some wild and crop species of Iranian Crocus by ITS nuclear loci显示文摘ITS(Internal Transcription Spacer of nuclear ribosomal DNA)regions method was applied to identify and study the phylogenetic relationships existing between 41 individuals of Crocus, including 8 species collected in Iran(4 crop and 8 wild individuals)and 16 species(2 crop and 27 wild individuals)already registered in GenBank(NCBI).PCR amplifications were performed using the primer designed on the nucleotide sequence of nuclear region(ITS).A total of 12 sequences were obtained and registered in NCBI database. In particular,4 of these sequences were not already present in the scientific library.Nucleotide polymorphic sites were counted for ITS(N=97).The results showed that, the Cytosine base is the most abundant nucleotide.Relatively high conservation was observed in the ITS regions of the populations(0.761).Each sample could be distinguished from the others in the phylogenic trees developed based on the data obtained by ITS barcode genes. In general,ITS sequence indicating high resolution at the species level is very suitable for phylogenetic studies in the Crocus family.Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated the genetic relationship between crop saffron and wild Crocus species.According to the results of this study, the wild species of C.cartwrightianus and C.oreocreticus were considered as the closest relatives of the saffron. The results of the study also indicated that, the different ecotypes of C.sativus may have evolved through independent events probably due to the geographic and environmental pressures.FARSHID GOLSHANI BARAT ALI FAKHERI MAHMOOD SOLOUKI NAFISEH MAHDINEZHAD MAJID REZA KIANI FERIZ 2019BIOCELL2019,43,3:0
Gain-Enhanced Metamaterial Based Antenna for 5G Communication Standards显示文摘Metamaterial surfaces play a vital role to achieve the surface waves suppression and in-phase reflection,in order to improve the antenna performance. In this paper, the performance comparison of a fifth generation(5G)antenna design is analyzed and compared with a metamaterial-based antenna for 5G communication system applications.Metamaterial surface is utilized as a reflector due to its in-phase reflection characteristic and high-impedance nature to improve the gain of an antenna. As conventional conducting ground plane does not give enough surface waves suppression which affects the antenna performance in terms of efficiency and gain etc. These factors are well considered in this work and improved by using the metamaterial surface. The radiating element of the proposed metamaterial based antenna is made up of copper material which is backed by the substrate,i.e.,Rogers-4003 with a standard thickness, loss tangent and a relative permittivity of 1.524 mm,0.0027 and 3.55,correspondingly.The proposed antenna with and without metamaterial surface operates at the central frequency of 3.32 GHz and 3.60 GHz,correspondingly. The traditional antenna yields a boresight gain of 2.76 dB which is further improved to 6.26 dB,using the metamaterial surface. The radiation efficiency of the proposed metamaterial-based 5G antenna is above 85%at the desired central frequency.Daniyal Ali Sehrai Fazal Muhammad Saad Hassan Kiani Ziaul Haq Abbas Muhammad Tufail Sunghwan Kim 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,9:0
Design of a Compact Monopole Antenna for UWB Applications显示文摘In this paper,a low cost, highly efficient and low profile monopole antenna for ultra-wideband(UWB)applications is presented.A new inverted triangular-shape structure possessing meander lines is designed to achieve a wideband response and high efficiency. To design the proposed structure, three steps are utilized to achieve an UWB response. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna is improved with changing meander lines parameters, miniaturization of the ground width and optimization of the feeding line. The measured and simulated frequency band ranges from 3.2 to 12 GHz,while the radiation patterns are measured at 4,5.3,6 and 8 GHz frequency bands. The overall volume of the proposed antenna is 26×25×1.6 mm^(3);whereas the FR4 material is used as a substrate with a relative permittivity and loss tangent of 4.3 and 0.025,correspondingly.The peak gain of 4 dB is achieved with a radiation efficiency of 80 to 98%for the entire wideband.Design modelling of proposed antenna is performed in ANSYS HFSS 13 software.A decent consistency between the simulated and measured results is accomplished which shows that the proposed antenna is a potential candidate for the UWB applications.Naeem Ahmad Jan Saad Hassan Kiani Daniyal Ali Sehrai Muhammad Rizwan Anjum Amjad Iqbal Mujeeb Abdullah Sunghwan Kim 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,1:0
Performance and ruminal parameters of fattening Moghani lambs fed recycled poultry bedding显示文摘This study investigated the effects of recycled poultry bedding(RPB) on performance and protozoa population, microbial enzyme activity and microbial protein synthesis(MPS) in rumen contents of fattening lambs. Thirty-six male Moghani lambs(31.4 ± 3.2 kg body weight) were fed iso-energetic and iso-nitrogenous diets containing 0, 70,140 or 210 g/kg dry matter(DM) RPB in a balanced randomized design(9 lambs per treatment). Results showed that final body weight, DM intake, average daily gain and feed conversion ratio were unchanged(P > 0.05) by RPB inclusion. Total protozoa population and subfamily of Entoniniinae and Diplodiniiae were linearly decreased by RPB(L, P < 0.05). For rumen fibrolytic enzymes including carboxymethyl-cellulase, microcrystalline-cellulase and filter paper degrading activity, the extra cellular, cellular and total(extra cellular plus cellular fraction) activity were similar(P > 0.05) by feeding the experimental diets. Inclusion of RPB in the diet linearly decreased extra cellular and total a-amylase activity(L, P < 0.05), while cellular activity was unchanged(P > 0.05). The extra cellular activity of proteases tended to increase(L, P=0.07) and their total and cellular activity increased(P > 0.05) in lambs fed RPB. Incorporation of RPB into the diet had no effect(L, P > 0.05) on urinary purine derivative excretion and MPS. In conclusion, inclusion of RPB up to 210 g/kg DM had no negative impact on performance, ruminal fibrolytic enzyme activity and MPS, while it increased rumen protease activity and decreased protozoa population in fattening Moghani lambs.Ayoub Azizi Afrooz Sharifi Arash Azarfar Ali Kiani Alireza Jolazadeh 2017Animal Nutrition2017,,2:0
V-Shaped Monopole Antenna with Chichena Itzia Inspired Defected Ground Structure for UWB Applications显示文摘Due to rapid growth in wireless communication technology, higher bandwidth requirement for advance telecommunication systems, capable of operating on two or higher bands with higher channel capacities and minimum distortion losses is desired. In this paper,a compact Ultra-Wideband(UWB)V-shaped monopole antenna is presented.UWB response is achieved by modifying the ground plane with Chichen Itzia inspired rectangular staircase shape. The proposed V-shaped is designed by incorporating a rectangle, and an inverted isosceles triangle using FR4 substrate. The size of the antenna is 25 mm×26 mm×1.6 mm.The proposed V-shaped monopole antenna produces bandwidth response of 3 GHz Industrial,Scientific, and Medical(ISM),Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access(WiMAX),(IEEE 802.11/HIPERLAN band,5G sub 6 GHz)which with an additional square cut amplified the bandwidth response up to 8 GHz ranging from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz attaining UWB defined by Federal Communications Commission(FCC)with a maximum gain of 3.83 dB.The antenna is designed in Ansys HFSS.Results for key performance parameters of the antenna are presented. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results.Due to flat gain, uniform group delay, omni directional radiation pattern characteristics and well-matched impedance, the proposed antenna is suitable for WiMAX,ISM and heterogeneous wireless systems.Naeem Ahmad Jan Saad Hassan Kiani Fazal Muhammad Daniyal Ali Sehrai Amjad Iqbal Muhammad Tufail Sunghwan Kim 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,10:0
On the limitations of linear beams for the problems of moving mass-beam interaction using a meshfree method显示文摘This paper deals with the capabilities of linear and nonlinear beam theories in predicting the dynamic response of an elastically supported thin beam traversed by a moving mass. To this end, the discrete equations of motion are developed based on Lagrange's equations via reproducing kernel particle method (RKPM). For a particular case of a simply supported beam, Galerkin method is also employed to verify the results obtained by RKPM, and a reasonably good agreement is achieved. Variations of the maximum dynamic deflection and bending moment associated with the linear and nonlinear beam theories are investigated in terms of moving mass weight and velocity for various beam boundary conditions. It is demonstrated that for majority of the moving mass velocities, the differences between the results of linear and nonlinear analyses become remarkable as the moving mass weight increases, particularly for high levels of moving mass velocity. Except for the cantilever beam, the nonlinear beam theory predicts higher possibility of moving mass separation from the base beam compared to the linear one. Furthermore, the accuracy levels of the linear beam theory are determined for thin beams under large deflections and small rotations as a function of moving mass weight and velocity in various boundary conditions.Keivan Kiani Ali Nikkhoo 2012Acta Mechanica Sinica2012,28,1:0
