| 1 | Development of Cardanol-Based Polyol via Click Chemistry and Crosslinking with Melamine Formaldehyde Resin for Coating Applications显示文摘The research work presented in this article deals with the synthesis of cardanol-based polyol and its curing with hexabutoxymethyl melamine(HBMM)for application in coatings.Cardanol-based polyol was prepared via thiol-ene click reaction using thioglycerol.Unsaturation present in the long chain of cardanol was successfully utilized to synthesize polyol via thiol-ene coupling.The reaction was carried out between cardanol and thioglycerol in the presence of Irgacure 184(photoinitiator)and 1,8-Diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene(catalyst)under UV light for 12 h at 80°C.After completion of the reaction,one mole of thioglycerol was successfully added across the double bond of a fatty chain of cardanol and confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and hydroxyl and iodine values were determined.Furthermore,the polyol thus prepared was cured with commercial HBMM in various proportions,such as 1:0.6,1:0.8 and 1:1,on an equivalent basis.The coatings were then characterized for mechanical,chemical,optical,thermal and anticorrosive properties.It was observed that coatings exhibited excellent performance properties as compared to that of its acrylic counterpart. | Kunal Wazarkar Anagha Sabnis | 2018 | Journal of Renewable Materials2018,6,4: | 4 |
| 2 | Interleukin-6 mediates neutrophil mobilization from bone marrow in pulmonary hypertension显示文摘Myeloid cells,such as neutrophils,are produced in the bone marrow in high quantities and are important in the pathogenesis of vascular diseases such as pulmonary hypertension(PH).Although neutrophil recruitment into sites of inflammation has been well studied,the mechanisms of neutrophil egress from the bone marrow are not well understood.Using computational flow cytometry,we observed increased neutrophils in the lungs of patients and mice with PH.Moreover,we found elevated levels of IL-6 in the blood and lungs of patients and mice with PH.We observed that transgenic mice overexpressing Il-6 in the lungs displayed elevated neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and exaggerated neutrophil recruitment to the lungs,resulting in exacerbated pulmonary vascular remodeling,and dysfunctional hemodynamics.Mechanistically,we found that IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow was dependent on interferon regulatory factor 4(IRF-4)-mediated CX3CR1 expression in neutrophils.Consequently,Cx3cr1 genetic deficiency in hematopoietic cells in Il-6-transgenic mice significantly reduced neutrophil egress from bone marrow and decreased neutrophil counts in the lungs,thus ameliorating pulmonary remodeling and hemodynamics.In summary,these findings define a novel mechanism of IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and reveal a new therapeutic target to curtail neutrophil-mediated inflammation in pulmonary vascular disease. | Jonathan Florentin Jingsi Zhao Yi-Yin Tai Sathish Babu Vasamsetti Scott P.O’Neil Rahul Kumar Anagha Arunkumar Annie Watson John Sembrat Grant C.Bullock Linda Sanders Biruk Kassa Mauricio Rojas Brian B.Graham Stephen Y.Chan Partha Dutta | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,2: | 3 |

| 16 | Effect of ultrasound and microwave pretreatment on sprouting,GABA,bioactive compounds,and other physicochemical properties of sorghum显示文摘Aim of this study is to see how ultrasound(US)and microwave(MW)pretreatments affectγ-aminobutyric acid(GABA)and physicochemical parameters of sorghum sprouts.Before sprouting,the sorghum was treated with the US at different time intervals(10,15,20 min)and MW at various power levels(10%,30%,50%).Sample treated by the US for 15 min showed the highest sprouting percentage of 97.33%.Both treatments induced stress in grain resulting in GABA accumulation substantially from the control where US for 15 min and MW at 10%power level had the highest of 87.14 and 66.97μg/g,respectively.US treatment for 20 min showed the highest total phenolic content(TPC)of 21.26 mg GAE/100 g,while on 10 min of treatment,it showed the highest antioxidant activity of 84.53%DPPH inhibition.The water absorption capacity and oil absorption capacity were the highest of 0.86 g/g and 0.98 g/g in the MW-treated sample at 10%output power respectively.In conclusion,the ultrasound treatment successfully accelerated the sprouting rate and GABA content while retaining total phenolic content,making it beneficial for developing functional foods. | Anagha Deore K.A.Athmaselvi N.Venkatachalapathy | 2023 | Grain & Oil Science and Technology2023,6,2: | 0 |
| 17 | Functional recovery and muscle atrophy in pre-clinical models of peripheral nerve transection and gap-grafting in mice:effects of 4-aminopyridine显示文摘We recently demonstrated a repurposing beneficial effect of 4-aminopyridine(4-AP),a potassium channel blocker,on functional recove ry and muscle atrophy after sciatic nerve crush injury in rodents.However,this effect of 4-AP is unknown in nerve transection,gap,and grafting models.To evaluate and compare the functional recovery,nerve morphology,and muscle atrophy,we used a novel stepwise nerve transection with gluing(STG),as well as 7-mm irreparable nerve gap(G-7/0)and 7-mm isografting in 5-mm gap(G-5/7)models in the absence and presence of 4-AP treatment.Following surgery,sciatic functional index was determined wee kly to evaluate the direct in vivo global motor functional recovery.After 12 weeks,nerves were processed for whole-mount immunofluorescence imaging,and tibialis anterior muscles were harvested for wet weight and quantitative histomorphological analyses for muscle fiber crosssectional area and minimal Feret's diameter.Average post-injury sciatic functional index values in STG and G-5/7 models were significantly greater than those in the G-7/0 model.4-AP did not affect the sciatic functional index recovery in any model.Compared to STG,nerve imaging revealed more misdirected axons and distorted nerve architecture with isografting.While muscle weight,cross-sectional area,and minimal Feret's diameter were significantly smaller in G-7/0 model compared with STG and G-5/7,4-AP treatment significantly increased right TA muscle mass,cross-sectional area,and minimal Feret's diameter in G-7/0 model.These findings demonstrate that functional recovery and muscle atrophy after peripheral nerve injury are directly related to the intervening nerve gap,and 4-AP exerts diffe rential effects on functional recove ry and muscle atrophy. | Jung Il Lee M A Hassan Talukder Zara Karuman Anagha A.Gurjar Prem Kumar Govindappa Jagadeeshaprasad M.Guddadarangaiah Kristen M.Manto Grant D.Wandling John P.Hegarty David L.Waning John C.Elfar | 2023 | Neural Regeneration Research2023,18,2: | 0 |

| 19 | Curcumin sensitizes quiescent leukemic cells to antimitotic drug 5-fluorouracil by inducing proliferative responses in them显示文摘Long-term quiescence or dormancy is a fundamental feature of cancer stem cells(CSCs)that are genetically identical to the malignant clone but constitute the only cells with tumor propagation potential within the overall tumor population.These quiescent cells show significant resistance to radiation and antiproliferative chemotherapy due to distinctive properties that seem to be related to their stem cell-like character.Hence,successful anticancer therapy must consist of approaches that can target not only the differentiated cancer cells,but also the CSCs.Using serum-starved KG1a cell line as an experimental model system of quiescent leukemic cells(QLCs),the present study demonstrates that QLCs exposed to low concentrations of curcumin show high proliferative potential.Furthermore,when subjected to a combination therapy consisting of low concentrations of curcumin and 5-fluorouracil(5-FU),the QLCs displayed a high kill with an increase in the levels of nitric oxide(NO)and reactive oxygen species.These results were further consolidated with the observation of high caspase-3 activity in cells subjected to the combination therapy.This may suggest that low concentrations of curcumin stimulate the QLCs to become mitotically active,thereby sensitizing them to killing by the antimitotic drug,5-FU. | Anagha Gardane Mariyah Poonawala Anuradha Vaidya | 2016 | Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment2016,2,1: | 0 |
