| 1 | Carcinogenic Helicobacter pylori in gastric pre-cancer and cancer lesions: Association with tobacco-chewing显示文摘AIM:To investigate the low gastric cancer incidence rate relative to the highly prevalent Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection;data relevant to H.pylori infection during gastric carcinogenesis in Indian patients is currently lacking.METHODS:The present study examines the prevalence of H.pylori infection in DNA derived from 156endoscopic gastric biopsies of different disease groups that represent gastric pre-cancer[intestinal metaplasia(n=15),dysplasia(n=15)],cancer[diffuse adenocarcinoma(n=44),intestinal adenocarcinoma(n=21)],and symptomatic but histopathologically-normal controls(n=61).This was done by generic ureC polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and cagA-specific PCR that could specifically identify the carcinogenic H.pylori strain.RESULTS:Our analysis showed the presence of H.pylori infection in 61%of symptomatic histopathologically-normal individuals, however only 34%of control tissues were harboring the cagA+H.pylori strain.A similar proportion of H.pylori infection(52%)and cagA(26%)positivity was observed in the tumor tissue of the gastric cancer group. In comparison,H.pylori infection(90%)and cagA positivity(73%)were the highest in gastric pre-cancer lesions. In relation to tobacco and alcohol abuse,H.pylori infection showed an association with tobacco chewing, whereas we did not observe any association between tobacco smoking or alcohol abuse with prevalence of H.pylori infection in the tissue of any of the patient groups studied.CONCLUSION:High incidence of H.pylori infection and carcinogenic cagA positive strain in pre-cancer lesions during gastric carcinogenesis may be | Arvind Pandey Satyendra Chandra Tripathi Sutapa Mahata Kanchan Vishnoi Shirish Shukla Sri Prakash Misra Vatsala Misra Suresh Hedau Ravi Mehrotra Manisha DwivediZ Alok C Bharti | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,22: | 4 |

| 7 | High-energy ion treatments of amorphous As_(40)Se_(60) thin films for optical applications显示文摘The treatment of 100 MeV Ag swift-heavy ion(SHI) irradiation with five different fluences(3 1010, 1 1011, 3 1011, 1 1012, and3 1012ions/cm2) was used to design optical and structural properties of amorphous(a-) As40Se60 chalcogenide thin films. Swanepoel method was applied on transmission measurements to determine the changes in optical bandgap, Tauc parameter and linear optical parameters, i.e., linear optical absorption, extinction coefficient and linear refractive index. Dispersion of the material was determined by Wemple–DiDomenico relation.Changes in nonlinear optical parameters of third-order optical susceptibility and nonlinear refractive index were determined using semi-empirical relations. Changes in surface morphology of the films were investigated using SEM observation, which indicated that fluence 3 1012ions/cm2was upper threshold limit for these films for ion treatment. It is observed that optical bandgap reduces from 1.76 eV to 1.64 eV, and nonlinear refractive index increases from 1.31 10 10[esu] to 1.74 10 10[esu]. Linear refractive index initially increases from 2.80 to 3.52(for fluence3 1010ions/cm2) and then keeps decreasing. The observed changes in optical properties upon irradiation were explained in terms of structural rearrangements by Raman measurement. The study was compiled with the previous literature to propose SHI as an effective optical engineering technique to achieve desired changes according to the need of optical/photonic applications. | Rashmi Chauhan Arvind Tripathi Krishna Kant Srivastava | 2014 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2014,24,3: | 0 |

| 9 | Carbon and water footprints of major crop production in India显示文摘Scarcity of water and emission of greenhouse gases(GHGs)are the two key environmental issues affecting crop production in India.Reducing the carbon footprint(CF)and water footprint(WF)of crop production can help to mitigate the environmental hazards that stem from GHG emissions and water scarcity. The CFs and WFs of three major cereal crops, rice, wheat, and maize, were estimated for the year 2014 under the environmental conditions in India, based on national statistics and other data sources.Total CFs(TCFs)of rice, wheat, and maize in India were estimated to be 2.44,1.27,and 0.80 t CO_(2)equivalent ha-1,respectively,and product WFs for rice, wheat, and maize in India were 3.52,1.59,and 2.06 m3 kg^(-1),respectively.Blue WF was found to be the highest in West India for rice and in South India for both wheat and maize, with the highest irrigation water use in these regions. There was a positive correlation between TCF and total WF,and hence mitigation of both was possibly simultaneous in various regions in India.Potential measures for mitigating GHG emissions and optimizing water use for rice, wheat, and maize production in India are recommended in this paper. | Amaresh Kumar NAYAK Rahul TRIPATHI Manish DEBNATH Chinmaya Kumar SWAIN Biswaranjan DHAL Shanmugam VIJAYKUMAR Anshuman Debasis NAYAK Sangita MOHANTY Mohammad SHAHID Anjani KUMAR Manoj RAJAK Khitish Chandra MOHARANA Dibyendu CHATTERJEE Susmita MUNDA Pravat GURU Rubina KHANAM Banwari LAL Priyanka GAUTAM Suschismita PATTANAIK Arvind Kumar SHUKLA Nuala FITTON Pete SMITH Himanshu PATHAK | 2023 | Pedosphere2023,33,3: | 0 |
