1Long-term bone and lung consequences associated with hospital-acquired severe acute respiratory syndrome:a 15-year follow-up from a prospective cohort study显示文摘The most severe sequelae after rehabilitation from SARS are femoral head necrosis and pulmonary fibrosis. We performed a 15-year follow-up on the lung and bone conditions of SARS patients. We evaluated the recovery from lung damage and femoral head necrosis in an observational cohort study of SARS patients using pulmonary CT scans, hip joint MRI examinations, pulmonary function tests and hip joint function questionnaires. Eighty medical staff contracted SARS in 2003. Two patients died of SARS, and78 were enrolled in this study from August 2003 to March 2018. Seventy-one patients completed the 15-year follow-up. The percentage of pulmonary lesions on CT scans diminished from 2003(9.40 ± 7.83)% to 2004(3.20 ± 4.78)%(P < 0.001) and remained stable thereafter until 2018(4.60 ± 6.37)%. Between 2006 and 2018, the proportion of patients with interstitial changes who had improved pulmonary function was lower than that of patients without lesions, as demonstrated by the one-second ratio(FEV1/FVC%, t = 2.21, P = 0.04) and mid-flow of maximum expiration(FEF25%–75%, t = 2.76, P = 0.01). The volume of femoral head necrosis decreased significantly from 2003(38.83 ± 21.01)% to 2005(30.38 ± 20.23)%(P = 0.000 2), then declined slowly from 2005 to 2013(28.99 ± 20.59)% and plateaued until 2018(25.52 ± 15.51)%. Pulmonary interstitial damage and functional decline caused by SARS mostly recovered, with a greater extent of recovery within 2 years after rehabilitation. 17Gas Absorption and Mass Transfer in a Pore-Array Intensified Tube-in-Tube Microchannel显示文摘A pore-array intensified tube-in-tube microchannel(PA-TMC),which is characterized by high throughput and low pressure drop,was developed as a gas–liquid contactor.The sulfite oxidation method was used to determine the oxygen efficiency(φ)and volumetric mass transfer coefficient(k_(L)a)of PA-TMC,and the mass transfer amount per unit energy(ε)was calculated by using the pressure drop.The effects of structural and operating parameters were investigated systematically,and the twophase flow behavior was monitored by using a charge-coupled device imaging system.The results indicated that the gas absorption efficiency and mass transfer performance of the PA-TMC were improved with increasing pore number,flow rate,and number of helical coil turns and decreasing pore size,row number,annular size,annular length,and surface tension.Theφ,εand k La of PA-TMC could reach 31.3%,1.73×10^(-4) mol/J,and 7.0 s-1,respectively.The Sherwood number was correlated with the investigated parameters to guide the design of PA-TMC in gas absorption and mass transfer processes.Fengshun Xia Wenpeng Li Junheng Guo You Han Minqing Zhang Baoguo Wang Wei Li Jinli Zhang 2021Transactions of Tianjin University2021,27,5:0

20Experimental study on concrete box culverts in trenches显示文摘Concrete box culverts are widely used in expressways in mountain areas.Many problems frequently take place due to improperly estimated vertical earth pressures on culverts.The prevailing Chinese General Code for Design of Highway Bridges and Culverts(CGCDHBC)stipulates the computation of the design load on culverts primarily based on the linear earth pressure theory,which cannot accurately describe the variation of the vertical load on culverts in trenches.In this paper,a full-scale experiment and numerical simulation were conducted to evaluate the variation of vertical earth pressures on culvert and soil arching in backfill.The variations of foundation pressure and settlement were also analyzed.The result revealed that the soil arch forms when the backfill on the culvert reaches a certain height.The soil arching effect reduces the stress concentration on the crown of the culvert but it is unstable.The vertical earth pressure on top of the culvert is significantly different from that recommended by the CGCDHBC.Baoguo CHEN Junjie ZHENG Jie HAN 2009Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2009,3,1:0
