| 1 | Hybrid graphene metasurfaces for highspeed mid-infrared light modulation and single-pixel imaging显示文摘During the past decades,major advances have been made in both the generation and detection of infrared light;however,its efficient wavefront manipulation and information processing still encounter great challenges.Efficient and fast optoelectronic modulators and spatial light modulators are required for mid-infrared imaging,sensing,security screening,communication and navigation,to name a few.However,their development remains elusive,and prevailing methods reported so far have suffered from drawbacks that significantly limit their practical applications.In this study,by leveraging graphene and metasurfaces,we demonstrate a high-performance free-space mid-infrared modulator operating at gigahertz speeds,low gate voltage and room temperature.We further pixelate the hybrid graphene metasurface to form a prototype spatial light modulator for high frame rate single-pixel imaging,suggesting orders of magnitude improvement over conventional liquid crystal or micromirror-based spatial light modulators.This work opens up the possibility of exploring wavefront engineering for infrared technologies for which fast temporal and spatial modulations are indispensable. | Beibei Zeng Zhiqin Huang Akhilesh Singh Yu Yao Abul K.Azad Aditya D.Mohite Antoinette J.Taylor David R.Smith Hou-Tong Chen | 2018 | Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1: | 13 |
| 2 | 小鼠骨骼肌挫伤后基因表达的时间进程(英文)显示文摘Background:Though the mechanisms of skeletal muscle regeneration are deeply understood,those involved in muscle contusion,one of the most common muscle injuries in sports medicine clinics,are not.The objective of this study is to explore the mechanisms involved in muscle regeneration after contusion injury.Methods:In this study,a total of 72 mice were used.Eight of them were randomly chosen for the control group,while the rest were subjected to muscle contusion.Subsequently,their gastrocnemius muscles were harvested at different time points.The changes in muscle morphology were assessed by hematoxylin and eosin(HE) stain.In addition,the gene expression was analyzed by real-time polymerase chain reaction.Results:The data showed that the expression of many genes,i.e.,specific markers of immune cells and satellite cells,regulatory factors for muscle regeneration,cytokines,and chemokines,increased in the early stages of recovery,especially in the first 3 days.Furthermore,there were strict rules in the expression of these genes.However,almost all the genes returned to normal at 14 days post-injury.Conclusion:The sequence of immune cells invaded after muscle contusion was neutrophils,M1 macrophages and M2 macrophages.Some CC(CCL2,CCL3,and CCL4) and CXC(CXCL10) chemokines may be involved in the chemotaxis of these immune cells.HGF may be the primary factor to activate the satellite cells after muscle contusion.Moreover,2 weeks are needed to recover when acute contusion happens as used in this study. | Weihua Xiao Yu Liu Beibei Luo Linlin Zhao Xiaoguang Liu Zhigang Zeng Peijie Chen | 2016 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2016,5,1: | 8 |
| 3 | Different meridian tropism in three Chinese medicines: Tinglizi(Semen Lepidii Apetali), Yiyiren(Semen Coicis), Cheqianzi(Semen Plantaginis)显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To study the meridian tropism(MT) for three Chinese medicines: Tinglizi(Semen Lepidii Apetali, TLZ), Yiyiren(Semen Coicis, YYR), Cheqianzi(Semen Plantaginis, CQZ) in vivo experiments.METHODS: The extracts of TLZ,YYR, CQZ were orally administered to rats at a dose 234, 700 and 350 mg/kg, respectively. The urinary excretion rate, loss in weight of rats and the electrolyte levels in the plasma were measured, in order to assess the mechanisms of the three traditional Chinese diuretic medicines.RESULTS: TLZ, YYR and CQZ exhibited obvious diuretic effect and reduced the weight of saline-loaded animals. | 10 | Physicochemical properties and antibacterial application of silver nanoparticles stabilized by whey protein isolate显示文摘Nano metal materials have been widely explored to be applied in medical,environmental,and material science.Among these nanoparticles,especially silver nanoparticles(AgNPs),have drawn increasing attention for antimicrobial applications.Most researchers are keen on the development of the biologically friendly capping reagents for the synthesis of AgNPs,instead of unfriendly organic polymers.In this study,the liquid chemical reduction method was used to synthesize AgNPs with edible whey protein isolate(WPI)as a capping reagent.These WPI-AgNPs had a broad size distribution(average diameter of 138.6 nm),and their dimensions could be readily controlled in the range of 22.5-149.6 nm by introducing different concentrations of chloride.Subsequently,it was confirmed that WPI-AgNPs were formed through two mechanisms,which were respectively reduced in situ(without the addition of NaCl)and ex situ(in presence of NaCl)to yield silver nanoparticles.The WPI-AgNPs synthesized in presence of 10 mM of NaCl as mediation reagent were stable at room temperature or 4℃ up to 3 months.Furthermore,the synthesized WPI-AgNPs had a good antibacterial activity toward pathogens including Gram-negative E.coli and Gram-positive S.aureus.The results shed light on method and capping reagent to stabilize silver nanoparticles,which highlighted the potential of WPI and chloride in metal nanoparticle synthesis. | Aoqiong Zeng Beibei Wang Cheng Zhang Ruijin Yang Shuhuai Yu Wei Zhao | 2022 | Food Bioscience2022,46,2: | 0 |
| 11 | High frequency of alternative splicing variants of the oncogene Focal Adhesion Kinase in neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas and breast显示文摘The characteristic genetic abnormality of neuroendocrine neoplasms(NENs),a heterogeneous group of tumors found in various organs,remains to be identified.Here,based on the analysis of the splicing variants of an oncogene Focal Adhesion Kinase(FAK)in The Cancer Genome Atlas datasets that contain 9193 patients of 33 cancer subtypes,we found that Box 6/Box 7-containing FAK variants(FAK^(6/7))were observed in 7(87.5%)of 8 pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinomas and 20(11.76%)of 170 pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas(PDACs).We tested FAK variants in 157 tumor samples collected from Chinese patients with pancreatic tumors,and found that FAK^(6/7)was positive in 34(75.6%)of 45 pancreatic NENs,19(47.5%)of 40 pancreatic solid pseudopapillary neoplasms,and 2(2.9%)of 69 PDACs.We further tested FAK splicing variants in breast neuroendocrine carcinoma(BrNECs),and found that FAK^(6/7)was positive in 14(93.3%)of 15 BrNECs but 0 in 23 non-NEC breast cancers.We explored the underlying mechanisms and found that a splicing factor serine/arginine repetitive matrix protein 4(SRRM4)was overexpressed in FAK^(6/7)-positive pancreatic tumors and breast tumors,which promoted the formation of FAK^(6/7)in cells.These results suggested that FAK^(6/7)could be a biomarker of NENs and represent a potential therapeutic target for these orphan diseases. | Dawei Xie Zheng Wang Beibei Sun Liwei Qu Musheng Zeng Lin Feng Mingzhou Guo Guizhen Wang Jihui Hao Guangbiao Zhou | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,5: | 0 |

| 13 | Ephedra Herb extract ameliorates adriamycin-induced nephrotic syndrome in rats via the CAMKK2/AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway显示文摘This study aimed to investigate the effect and mechanisms of Ephedra Herb(EH)extract on adriamycin-induced nephrotic syndrome(NS),providing an experimental basis for the clinical treatment of NS.Hematoxylin and eosin staining,creatinine,urea nitrogen,and kidn injury molecule-1 were used to evaluate the activities of EH extract on renal function.The levels of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress were detected by kits.The levels of reactive oxygen species,immune cells,and apoptosis were measured by flow cytometry.A network pharmacological approach was used to predict the potential targets and mechanisms of EH extract in the treatment of NS.The protein levels of apoptosis-related proteins and CAMKK2,p-CAMKK2,AMPK,p-AMPK,mTOR and p-mTOR in the kidneys were detected by Western blot.The effective material basis of EH extract was screened by MTT assay.The AMPK pathway inhibitor(compound C,CC)was added to investigate the effect of the potent material basis on adriamycin-induced cell injury.EH extract significantly improved renal injury and relieve inflammation,oxidative stress,and apoptosis in rats.Network pharmacology and Western blot results showed that the effect of EH extract on NS may be associated with the CAMKK2/AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway.Moreover,methylephedrine significantly ameliorated adriamycin-induced NRK-52e cell injury.Methylephedrine also significantly improved the phosphorylation of AMPK and mTOR,which were blocked by CC.In sum,EH extract may ameliorate renal injury via the CAMKK2/AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway.Moreover,methylephedrine may be one of the material bases of EH extract. | ZHANG Yuhan ZENG Mengnan LI Benke ZHANG Beibei CAO Bing WU Yuanyuan YE Shan XU Ruiqi ZHENG Xiaoke FENG Weisheng | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2023,21,5: | 0 |
