| 1 | Measurement and Interpretation of Connectivity of Chinese Cities in World City Network,2010显示文摘This is an empirical paper that measures and interprets the position of Chinese cities in the world city network in 2010. Building on a specification of the world city network as a′interlocking network′in which business services firms play the crucial role in city network formation, information is gathered about the presence of global service firms in cities. This information is converted into data to provide the′service value′of a city for a firm′s provision of corporate services in a 526(cities)×175(firms) matrix. These data are then used as the input to the interlocking network model in order to measure cities′connectivity and its predominant geographical orientation. | 2 | Prediction of Primary Climate Variability Modes at the Beijing Climate Center显示文摘Climate variability modes, usually known as primary climate phenomena, are well recognized as the most important predictability sources in subseasonal–interannual climate prediction. This paper begins by reviewing the research and development carried out, and the recent progress made, at the Beijing Climate Center(BCC) in predicting some primary climate variability modes. These include the El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation(ENSO), Madden–Julian Oscillation(MJO), and Arctic Oscillation(AO), on global scales, as well as the sea surface temperature(SST) modes in the Indian Ocean and North Atlantic, western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH), and the East Asian winter and summer monsoons(EAWM and EASM, respectively), on regional scales. Based on its latest climate and statistical models, the BCC has established a climate phenomenon prediction system(CPPS) and completed a hindcast experiment for the period 1991–2014. The performance of the CPPS in predicting such climate variability modes is systematically evaluated. The results show that skillful predictions have been made for ENSO, MJO, the Indian Ocean basin mode, the WPSH, and partly for the EASM, whereas less skillful predictions were made for the Indian Ocean Dipole(IOD) and North Atlantic SST Tripole, and no clear skill at all for the AO, subtropical IOD, and EAWM. | 3 | The Change of the Inlet Geometry of a Centrifugal Compressor Stage and its Influence on the Compressor Performance显示文摘The impact on the compressor performance is important for designing the inlet pipe of the centrifugal compressor of a vehicle turbocharger with different inlet pipes. First, an experiment was performed to determine the compressor performance from three cases: a straight inlet pipe, a long bent inlet pipe and a short bent inlet pipe. Next, dynamic sensors were installed in key positions to collect the sign of the unsteady pressure of the centrifugal compressor. Combined with the results of numerical simulations, the total pressure distortion in the pipes, the pressure distributions on the blades and the pressure variability in the diffuser are studied in detail. The results can be summarized as follows: a bent pipe results in an inlet distortion to the compressor, which leads to performance degradation, and the effect is more apparent as the mass flow rate increases. The distortion induced by the bent inlet is not only influenced by the distance between the outlet of the bent section and the leading edge of the impeller but also by the impeller rotation. The flow fields in the centrifugal impeller and the diffuser are influenced by a coupling effect produced by the upstream inlet distortion and the downstream blocking effect from the volute tongue. | 7 | An Overview of Mineral Dust Modeling over East Asia显示文摘East Asian dust(EAD) exerts considerable impacts on the energy balance and climate/climate change of the earth system through its influence on solar and terrestrial radiation, cloud properties, and precipitation efficiency. Providing an accurate description of the life cycle and climate effects of EAD is therefore critical to better understanding of climate change and socioeconomic development in East Asia and even worldwide. Dust modeling has undergone substantial development since the late 1990 s, associated with improved understanding of the role of EAD in the earth system. Here, we review the achievements and progress made in recent decades in terms of dust modeling research,including dust emissions, long-range transport, radiative forcing(RF), and climate effects of dust particles over East Asia. Numerous efforts in dust/EAD modeling have been directed towards furnishing more sophisticated physical and chemical processes into the models on higher spatial resolutions. Meanwhile, more systematic observations and more advanced retrieval methods for instruments that address EAD related science issues have made it possible to evaluate model results and quantify the role of EAD in the earth system, and to further reduce the uncertainties in EAD simulations. Though much progress has been made, large discrepancies and knowledge gaps still exist among EAD simulations. | 9 | THE FLOW IN ROTATING CURVED CIRCULAR PIPE显示文摘The combined effects of the system rotation (Coriolis force) and curvature (centrifugal force) on the flow in rotating curved circular pipe with small curvature are examined by perturbation method. A second order perturbation solution is presented. The secondary flow structure and the primary axial velocity distributions are studied in detail. The loops of the secondary flow are more complex than those in a curved pipe without rotation or a rotating straight pipe. Its numbers depend on the body force ratio F which represents the ratio of the Coriolis to the centrifugal force. The maximum of the axial velocity is pushed to either outer bend or inner bend, which is also determined by F. | 10 | Detection of the critical micelle concentration of cationic and anionic surfactants based on aggregation-induced emission property of hexaphenylsilole derivatives显示文摘We report a fluorescence 'turn-on' method to detect the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of surfactants. This method works well for both cationic and anionic surfactants. It employs an unprecedented mechanism (aggregation-induced emission, or AIE) to determine the CMC values, and the results are consistent with the data obtained by the classical techniques. In addition, this method renders the convenient detection of the CMC values. Any large and professional instruments are unnecessary, instead, a portable UV lamp and an ultrasonic generator are enough to carry out the detection in an ordinary laboratory. Considering that micelles are interesting entities and have found applications in many important fields such as emulsion polymerization, template of nanosized materials synthesis, controllable drug delivery and macromolecular self-assembling. | 12 | Unsteady Flow Variability Driven by Rotor-stator Interaction at Rotor Exit显示文摘Numerical investigation of the unsteady flow variability driven by rotorstator interaction in a transonic axial compressor is performed. Two models with close and far axial gap between rotor and stator rows are studied in the simulation. Particular attention is attached to the analysis of mechanisms involved in driving rotor wake oscillation, rotor wake skewing and flow angle fluctuation at rotor exit. The results show that smaller axial gap is favorable to enhance the interaction in the region between two adjacent rows, and the fluctuation of the static pressure difference between two sides of rotor wake is improved by potential field from down stator, which is the driving force for rotor wake oscillation. | 13 | The desumoylating enzyme sentrin-specific protease 3 contributes to myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury显示文摘Sentrin-specific protease 3(SENP3), a member of the desumoylating enzyme family, is known as a redox sensor and could regulate multiple cellular signaling pathways. However, its implication in myocardial ischemia reperfusion(MIR) injury is unclear. Here, we observed that SENP3 was expressed and upregulated in the mouse heart depending on reactive oxygen species(ROS) production in response to MIR injury. By utilizing si RNA-mediated cardiac specific gene silencing, SENP3 knockdown was demonstrated to significantly reduce MIR-induced infarct size and improve cardiac function. Mechanistic studies indicated that SENP3 silencing ameliorated myocardial apoptosis mainly via suppression of endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress and mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis pathways. By contrast, adenovirusmediated cardiac SENP3 overexpression significantly exaggerated MIR injury. Further molecular analysis revealed that SENP3 promoted mitochondrial translocation of dynamin-related protein 1(Drp1) in reperfused myocardium. In addition, mitochondrial division inhibitor-1(Mdivi-1), a pharmacological inhibitor of Drp1, significantly attenuated the exaggerated mitochondrial abnormality and cardiac injury by SENP3 overexpression after MIR injury. | 14 | Biocompatible organic dots with aggregation-induced emission for in vitro and in vivo fluorescence imaging显示文摘Fluorescent probes play a key role in modern biomedical research. As compared to inorganic quantum dots (QDs) composed with heavy metal elements, organic dye-based fluorescent nanoparticles have higher biocompatibility and are richer in variety. However, traditional organic fluorophores tend to quench fluorescence upon aggregation, which is known as aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) effect that hinders the fabrication of highly emissive fluorescent nanoparticles. In this work, we demonstrate the synthesis of organic fluorescent dots with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) in far-red/near-infrared (FA/NIR) region. A conventional ACQ-characteristic fluorescent dye, 3,4:9,10-tetracarboxylic perylene bisimide (PBI), is converted into an AIE fluorogen through attaching two tetraphenylethylene (TPE) moieties. The fluorescent dots with surface folic acid groups are fabricated from PBI derivative (DTPEPBI), showing specific targeting effect to folate receptor-overexpressed cancer cells. In vivo studies also suggest that the folic acid-functionalized AIE dots preferentially accumulate in the tumor site through enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect and folate receptor-mediated active targeting effect. | 16 | Extraction and separation of nickel and cobalt from saprolite laterite ore by microwave-assisted hydrothermal leaching and chemical deposition显示文摘Extraction and separation of nickel and cobalt from saprolite laterite ore were studied by using a method of microwave-assisted hydrothermal leaching and chemical deposition. The effects of leaching temperature and time on the extraction efficiencies of Ni2+ and Co2+ were investigated in detail under microwave conditions. It is shown that the extraction efficiencies of Ni2+ and Co2+ from the ore pre-roasted at 300 C for 5 h were 89.19% and 61.89% when the leaching temperature and time were about 70 C and 60 min, respectively. For the separation process of Ni and Co, the separation of main chemical components was performed by adjusting the pH values of sulfuric leaching solutions using a NaOH solution based on the different pH values of precipitation for metal hydroxides. The final separation efficiencies of Ni and Co were 77.29% and 65.87%, respectively. | 17 | Electronic effect on the optical properties and sensing ability of AIEgens with ESIPT process based on salicylaldehyde azine显示文摘Two novel AIE-active salicylaldehyde azine(SAA) derivatives with a typical excited-state intramolecular proton transfer(ESIPT) process are prepared by introducing electron-withdrawing and donating groups at para-position of phenolic hydroxyl group(CN-SAA and TPA-SAA). The effect of the proton activity in SAA framework on their optical behaviors is investigated spectroscopically. The results from NMR and solvation measurements show that the proton of phenolic hydroxyl group has higher activity when there are electron-withdrawing groups, and the absorption and fluorescence spectra in buffers with different pH also provide the same results. After inviting F. as a nucleophilic probe, this proton activity difference in CN-SAA and TPA-SAA becomes more obvious. The potential application of both molecules is investigated. TPA-SAA exhibits good quantitative sensing ability towards F. with a fluorescence 'turn-on' mode, whereas the aggregates of TPA-SAA can selectively and sensitively detect Cu2+ in aqueous solution. From these results, a structure-property relationship is established: the occurrence of ESIPT process will become much easier when linking electron-withdrawing groups at the para-position of phenolic hydroxyl group(e.g., CN-SAA),and it is better to introduce electron-donating groups to enhance the sensing ability towards ions(e.g., TPA-SAA). | 18 | Mechanism of cAMP-PKA Signaling Pathway Mediated by Shaoyao Gancao Decoction(芍药甘草汤)on Regulation of Aquaporin 5 and Muscarinic Receptor 3 Levels in Sjogren’s Syndrome显示文摘Objective:To investigate the mechanism of c AMP-PKA signaling pathway mediated by Chinese medicine formula Shaoyao Gancao Decoction(芍药甘草汤,SGD)on the regulation of aquaporin 5(AQP5)and muscarinic receptor 3(M3 R)levels in Sjogren’s syndrome(SS).Methods:Of the 30 mice,5 were randomly selected as control,and others were used for creating SS model.After successful modeling,mice were randomly divided into 5 groups(n=5 per group)and intragastrical y administered with saline(8 m L/kg),pilocarpine(1.4 mg/kg),or low,medium and high doses SGD(0.14,0.21,0.35 g/kg Radix paeoniae with 0.01 g/kg Radix glycyrrhizae,respectively)for 6 weeks.Human labial gland acinar cel s were treated with pilocarpine or varying doses of SGD with saline as the placebo.Hematoxylin and eosin staining was used to observe the histopathological changes of the submandibular glands of mice.The serum levels of anti-SS antigen A(SS-A),anti-SS antigen B(SS-B),M3 R,andα-fodrin in submandibular glands of mice were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Immunofluorescence staining was used to observe the spatial localization of AQP5 and M3 R in acinar cells.Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and Western blot were used to detect the expressions of PKA,c AMP,Epac1,AQP5,M3 R,nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB),and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αin submandibular gland tissues and cel s of each group.Results:Compared to normal mice,body weight,5-min salivary secretion,30-min secretion of tears and breakup time of tear film of model mice decreased at 1–6 weeks after immunization(al P<0.05),whereas water intake increased(al P<0.05).In the model group,glands of the submandibular glands showed atrophy,accompanied by acini of different sizes,decreased numbers and loose arrangement,with catheter dilatation and different degrees of lymphocyte infiltration.Conditions of mice in SGD groups were improved.The positive expression of AQP5 and M3 R were higher in the acinar cel s treated with al doses SGD compared to the normal group;serum levels of SS-A,SS-B,andα-fodrin were lower,and that of M3 R was higher in al doses SGD treated animals than the model or pilocarpine treated ones(al P<0.05).Compared to the model and pilocarpine groups,the m RNA and protein levels of NF-κB and TNF-αwere lower in mice or cel s treated with medium or high-dose SGD(al P<0.05),while those of PKA,Epac1,AQP5 and M3 R were higher(al P<0.05).Conclusion:SGD can improve symptoms of SS by regulating the c AMP-PKA signaling pathway and increasing AQP5 and M3 R levels. | WANG Dan ZHAO Hao LI Ben SUN Yu WEI Dong-hui | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,7: | 3 |
| 19 | RADAR OBSERVATION OF PRECIPITATION ASYMMETRIES IN TROPICAL CYCLONES MAKING LANDFALL ON EAST CHINA COAST显示文摘This study explores,for the first time,the asymmetric distribution of precipitation in tropical cyclones(TCs) making landfall along east China coast using reflectivity data collected from coastal Doppler radars at China's Mainland and Taiwan.Six TCs(Saomai,Khanun,Wipha,Matsa,Rananim and Krosa) from 2004 to 2007 are examined.The temporal and spatial evolution of these TCs’ inner and outer core asymmetric precipitation patterns before and after landfall is investigated.The radius of inner-core region is a function of the size of a TC apart from a fixed radius(100 km) adopted in previous studies.All six TCs possessed distinct asymmetric precipitation patterns between the inner-and outer-core regions.The amplitude of asymmetry decreases with the increasing TC intensity and it displays an ascending(descending) trend in the inner(outer) core.In the inner-core region,the heavy rainfall with reflectivity factor above 40 d BZ tends to locate at the downshear side before landfall.Four cases have precipitation maxima on the downshear left side,in agreement with previous studies.As TCs approaching land(~ 2 hr before landfall),their precipitation maxima generally shift to the front quadrant of the motion partly due to the interaction of TC with the land surface.In the outer-core region,the precipitation maxima occur in the front quadrant of the motion in five of the six cases before landfall.After landfall,the precipitation maxima shift from the right-front quadrant clockwisely to the right-rear quadrant of the motion collocated well with the mountainous areas along the coast,which indicates the impact of topography forcing on the precipitation distribution.This study illustrated how the precipitation asymmetry in the inner-and outer-core at different stages of TC landfall is affected by storm motion,vertical wind shear and topography. | DAN WU KUN ZHAO BEN JONG-DAO JOU WEN-CHAU LEE | 2013 | Tropical Cyclone Research and Review2013,2,2: | 3 |
