1Bipolar transurethral enucleation and resection of the prostate:Whether it is ready to supersede TURP?显示文摘Objective:According to the EAU Guidelines,transurethral resection of the prostate(TURP)has so far still been considered as the gold standard for surgical treatment for patients with obstructing clinical benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH).However,its relatively high rate of complications and postoperative recurrence necessitates further modification and innovation on the surgery technique.We reported the patient outcomes with our technique.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 52 patients with obstructing clinical BPH who underwent bipolar transurethral enucleation and resection of the prostate(B-TUERP)between March 2015 and September 2015.Pre-and perioperative parameters were obtained from medical charts.Postoperative follow-ups were administrated at 1,3,6,12 and 24 month(s)after surgery,respectively.Results:All the operations were performed successfully with a mean operative time of 43.1 min and an average tissue removal rate of 74.7%.Qmax was significantly improved immediately after surgery,followed by a continuous improvement throughout the follow-ups.Following a steep decrease in mean prostate specific antigen(PSA)and post void residual(PVR)observed within the first half year after surgery,the serum PSA was then maintained at a constant level of 0.61 ng/mL.Temporary urinary retention was found in four cases(7.7%).Stress urinary incontinence occurred in five patients(9.6%),with the condition resolved in 1e2 weeks without extra treatment.Urethral strictures and bladder neck contractures,as the most commonly observed long-term complications,developed in four patients(7.7%).No recurrence was found during 2 years of follow-ups.An improvement in International Index of Erectile Function(IIEF-5)scores was witnessed in 17 patients preoperatively with normal sexual function during the first 6 months after surgery,and sustained throughout the 24-month period.Conclusions:Enucleation reflects an improvement on surgical technique in many ways with a need for surgical equipment that can be broadly accessible in clinical practice.Currently,bipolar resection is a commonly employed procedure in clinical settings,and its similarity shared with bipolar enucleation technique warrants a quick learning of B-TUERP by urologists.Based on these findings,we believe that the substitution of TURP by TUERP as the gold standard for prostate endoscopic procedure can be expected in the future.Peng Xu Abai Xu Binshen Chen Shaobo Zheng Yawen Xu Hulin Li Haiyan Shen Chunxiao Liu 2018Asian Journal of Urology2018,5,1:19
2A Modified Chitosan Adsorbent for Selective Removal of Low Density Lipoprotein显示文摘A modified chitosan adsorbent was synthesized through a simple preparation procedure, and it demonstrated good adsorption performance for selective removal of low density lipoprotein in human plasma. 3An overview of the characteristics of advanced binders for high-performance Li–S batteries显示文摘The lithium-sulfur battery(Li–S)is a promising energy storage system with many advantages over the commercialized lithium-ion battery.It has a high theoretical capacity of 1675 mAh gà1,a high theoretical energy density(2600 Wh kgà1),and is eco-environmentally friendly.Although only a small amount is used(<10 wt%)in the electrode,binders may affect the discharge capacity and cycling stability of sulfur cathodes in the Li–S battery.In recent years,tremendous efforts have been made to develop functional binders with robust adhesive strength,fast ion/electron transportation,strong anchoring of lithium polysulfide(LiPS),and rapid redox kinetics,to improve capacity,coulombic efficiency,and energy density.This article reviews recent developments in binders for the Li–S battery.After briefly introducing the fundamentals of the Li–S battery,the desireable characteristics of binders are discussed based on the correlation between the functions of the binder molecules and the performance of the battery.Future challenges in developing promising binders and potential solutions are provided in the conclusion.Jun Zhang Mingnan Li Hussein A.Younus Binshen Wang Qunhong Weng Yan Zhang Shiguo Zhang 2021Nano Materials Science2021,3,2:2

9Presence of multiple abnormal immunologic markers is an independent prognostic factor of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma显示文摘Autoimmune diseases (ADs) increase the risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and contribute to poor prognosis of patients. However, the association between immunologic markers and clinical outcome has rarely been investigated. This study aims to analyze the prognostic value of pretreatment immunologic markers in newly diagnosed patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We retrospectively reviewed the data on 502 patients with DLBCL treated in our institution from January 2013 to March 2018. Survival functions were estimated using Kaplan Meier method and Cox regression model. The 3-year progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) rates were 70.2% and 80.9%, respectively, and the complete remission (CR) rate was 78.1%. Among the patients, those with multiple (≥3) abnormal immunologic markers had significantly shorter 3-year PFS (52.7% vs. 77.3%, P < 0.001) and OS (68.5% vs. 85.8%, P=0.001) than those without multiple abnormal immunologic markers.Multivariate analysis revealed that the presence of multiple abnormal immunologic markers and the elevated serum levels of lactate dehydrogenase were the independent adverse prognostic factors for PFS (P= 0.008, P < 0.001) and OS (P = 0.003, P < 0.001). Meanwhile, advanced Ann Arbor stage was an independent adverse prognostic factor for PFS (P= 0.001) and age > 60 years for OS (P= 0.014).
