Risk analysis for the highly pathogenic avian influenza in China's Mainland using meta-modeling显示文摘A logistic model was employed to correlate the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) with related environmental factors and the migration of birds. Based on MODIS data of the normalized difference vegetation index, environmental factors were considered in generating a probability map with the aid of logistic regression. A Bayesian maximum entropy model was employed to explore the spatial and temporal correlations of HPAI incidence. The results show that proximity to water bodies and national highways was statistically relevant to the occurrence of HPAI. Migratory birds, mainly waterfowl, were important infection sources in HPAI transmission. In addition, the HPAI outbreaks had high spatiotemporal autocorrelation. This epidemic spatial range fluctuated 45 km owing to different distribution patterns of cities and water bodies. Furthermore, two outbreaks were likely to occur with a period of 22 d. The potential risk of occurrence of HPAI in China's Mainland for the period from January 23 to February 17, 2004 was simulated based on these findings, providing a useful meta-model framework for the application of environmental factors in the prediction of HPAI risk.CAO ChunXiang XU Min CHANG ChaoYi XUE Yong ZHONG ShaoBo FANG LiQun CAO WuChun ZHANG Hao GAO MengXu HE QiSheng ZHAO Jian CHEN Wei ZHENG Sheng LI XiaoWen 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,36:9
Danggui Buxue Tang ameliorates bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats through inhibiting transforming growth factor-β1/Smad3/plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 signaling pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Danggui Buxue Tang(DBT), a decoction from Traditional Chinese Medicine, on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats, and to propose the possible underlying mechanism.METHODS: Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham group, model group, prednisone group and DBT group. Pulmonary fibrosis rat model was established by intratracheal injection with bleomycin. Body weight and lung index were monitored. Histopathologic examination and collagen deposition were determined using Hematoxylin and eosin(HE) and Masson's trichrome staining. Immunohistochemistry staining was applied to observe the expression of alpha-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA). m RNA expression of α-SMA,collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅲ were measured by realtime fluorescence quantitative PCR(RT-q PCR). Inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α), interleukin-6(IL-6) and IL-1β in serum were detected by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Alkali hydrolysis method was conducted to investigate the content of hydroxyproline(HYP). Transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),Smad3 and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1) protein level were examined by Western blot assay.RESULTS: DBT significantly reduced the severity of bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis and inflammation as indicated by minimizing the lost of weight, and by lowering the levels of lung index, inflammation score, Ashcroft score, collagen volume fraction(%), HYP, α-SMA, collagen Ⅰ, collagen Ⅲ,TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, TGF-β1, Smad3 and PAI-1, consistent with the effect of prednisone.CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that DBT is able to ameliorate the pulmonary fibrosis, the possible mechanism may involve inhibition of pulmonary inflammation and collagen deposition, possibly via suppressing TGF-β1/Smad3/PAI-1 signaling pathway.Wang Jiepeng Fang Chaoyi Wang Shaoxian Fang Fang Chu Xinqiao Liu Na Lu Chenxi Wang Shuo Li Wei 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,2:5
Influence of fracture roughness on shear strength, slip stability and permeability:A mechanistic analysis by three-dimensional digital rock modeling显示文摘Subsurface fluid injections can disturb the effective stress regime by elevating pore pressure and potentially reactivate faults and fractures.Laboratory studies indicate that fracture rheology and permeability in such reactivation events are linked to the roughness of the fracture surfaces. In this study,we construct numerical models using discrete element method(DEM)to explore the influence of fracture surface roughness on the shear strength, slip stability, and permeability evolution during such slip events. For each simulation,a pair of analog rock coupons(three-dimensional bonded quartz particle analogs)representing a mated fracture is sheared under a velocity-stepping scheme. The roughness of the fracture is defined in terms of asperity height and asperity wavelength. Results show that(1)Samples with larger asperity heights(rougher),when sheared, exhibit a higher peak strength which quickly devolves to a residual strength after reaching a threshold shear displacement;(2)These rougher samples also exhibit greater slip stability due to a high degree of asperity wear and resultant production of wear products;(3)Long-term suppression of permeability is observed with rougher fractures, possibly due to the removal of asperities and redistribution of wear products, which locally reduces porosity in the dilating fracture;and(4)Increasing shear-parallel asperity wavelength reduces magnitudes of stress drops after peak strength and enhances fracture permeability, while increasing shear-perpendicular asperity wavelength results in sequential stress drops and a delay in permeability enhancement. This study provides insights into understanding of the mechanisms of frictional and rheological evolution of rough fractures anticipated during reactivation events.Chaoyi Wang Derek Elsworth Yi Fang Fengshou Zhang 2020Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,4:2
Xiaoyaosan decoction regulates food intake and body weight via the leptin-leptin receptor-proopiomelanocortin pathway in rats with chronic immobilization stress显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of the Xiaoyaosan(XYS) decoction on the food intake and body weight of rats with chronic immobilization stress(CIS), as well as the concentration of serum leptin and the expression of feeding-related neuropeptides [leptin receptor(Ob-R), proopiomelanocortin(POMC), and α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone(α-MSH)] in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus(ARC).METHODS: We subjected rats to CIS for 3 h a day.The rats were randomly divided into the following groups: control group, 7-day stress group, 21-day stress group and XYS-treated group. The rats in the two stress groups were exposed to CIS for 7 or 21 d.The rats in the XYS-treated group were also exposed to CIS for 21 d and were intragastrically administered the XYS decoction before stress. The body weight and food intake of the rats were measured every day. The content of leptin in serum andα-MSH in the ARC were detected by ELISA, and the expression of neuropeptides in the ARC was assayed by immunofluorescence, Western blot and q RT-PCR.RESULTS: The food intake and body weight of rats exposed to CIS were lower than those of control rats. The serum leptin, and expression levels of ObR, POMC and α-MSH in the ARC were significantly higher than those in the control rats. Treatment with the XYS decoction improved the appetite and the body weight, and down-regulated serum leptin and Ob-R, POMC and α-MSH in hypothalamus ARC.CONCLUSION: The leptin-Ob-R-POMC pathway might be the part of the mechanism underlying XYS's improvement of somatic symptoms such as reduction in food intake and body weight related to CIS.Wang Xia Fang Chaoyi Wu Jiaxin Wang Shaoxian Zhao Runsheng Ma Jinsheng 2019Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2019,39,1:0
Rapid Access to Polysubstituted Tetrahydrocarbazol-4-ones via Sequential Selective C—H Functionalization from N-Nitrosoanilines显示文摘Comprehensive Summary Herein,we have developed a strategy of Rh(III)-catalyzed C—H activation of N-nitrosoanilines and iodonium ylides to construct novel tetralydrocarbzol-4-one scaffolds, which provided valuable templates for sequential C—H functionalization such as alkylation, alkenylation, amidation and(hetero)arylation at C^(5)-position of tetralydrocarbzol-4-one with different coupling partners.Gram-scale synthesis and further transformations of tetralydrocarbzol-4-one derivatives to Ondansetron and its analogues demonstrated the utility of this protocol, which enabled the concise and diverse construction of biologically active molecules.Chan Li Yanchen Yang Feifei Fang Chaoyi Liu Chunpu Li Dechuan Wang Hong Liu 2023Chinese Journal of Chemistry2023,41,16:0
Changes in neuropeptides related to food intake in the rat arcuate nucleus after chronic immobilization stress and the effect of comfortable music exposure显示文摘Stress is an inevitable interference factor that seriously affects health.Listening to music is an economical, noninvasive, and highly accepted tool for easing stress. However, physiological studies investigating the ability of music to reduce stress in daily life are limited. We established rat models of chronic immobilization stress(CIS)to observe changes in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus(ARC)neurons involved in the regulation of food intake and the effect of comfortable classical music exposure.Twenty-one days of stress resulted in decreased food intake and delayed body weight gain,up-regulation of leptin receptor(Ob-R),cocaine-and amphetamine-regulated transcript(CART),proopiomelanocortin(POMC),and alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone(α-MSH)expression,and downregulation of neuropeptide Y(NPY)and agouti-related protein(AgRP)expression in the ARC.Thus, peripheral leptin entered the ARC under chronic stress conditions, bound to Ob-R,and affected downstream nerve pathways related to appetite, such as the NPY/AgRP and CART/POMC pathways.Gentle classical music played at 65 dB reversed the abnormal expression of Ob-R and NPY induced by chronic stress. Thus, listening to comfortable music improves changes in ARC neurons related to the regulation of food intake in CIS rats, and these results provide a reference for basic research regarding how music therapy alleviates stress and stress-related health issues.HAO WANG FANG FANG CHAOYI FANG RUNSHENG ZHAO SHAOXIAN WANG 2020BIOCELL2020,44,3:0
Qinghua decoction(清化饮)improves chronic nonbacterial prostatitis possibly via regulating the chromogranin A/nerve growth factor/tyrosine kinase A signaling pathway mediated by inflammatory factors显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the mechanism by which Qinghua decoction(清化饮)regulates neuroendocrine inflammation in chronic nonbacterial prostatitis(CNP)model rats and provide an experimental basis for clinical treatment.METHODS:The rats were randomly divided into six groups:normal control, model,Qianlie Tongyu capsule,low-dose Qinghua decoction,medium-dose Qinghua decoction, and high-dose Qinghua decoction group with six rats in each group.Rats in each group were sacrificed on the 29th day of treatment, and blood and prostate tissues were collected.Serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukins 1-beta,6,8,and 10(TNF-αand IL-1β,-6,-8,and-10,respectively)were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The pathological changes in the rat prostate tissue in each group were observed under a light microscope. The expression levels of chromogranin A(CgA),nerve growth factor(NGF),and tyrosine kinase A(TrkA)were detected using reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction.Western blotting was used to detect protein expression of CgA,NGF,and TrkA.RESULTS:In the model group, the prostate capsule membrane and stroma were significantly dilated with more inflammatory cells infiltrating the stroma and perivessels.TNF-α,IL-1β,-6,and-8,CgA,NGF,and TrkA levels increased, whereas the content of IL-10 decreased, which was statistically significant compared to that in the normal control group(P<0.05).Prostate tissue cells in the high-dose group were neatly arranged with no obvious inflammatory cell infiltration. When compared with the model group, the high-dose Qinghua decoction group showed a significant improvement in these indices(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Qinghua decoction led to inhibition of pathological changes in the prostate tissue of rats with CNP,regulation of inflammatory cytokine expression, and inhibition in the expression of CgA,NGF,and TrkA.This mechanism may be primarily related to regulation of the CgA/NGF/TrkA signaling pathway mediated by various inflammatory factors.HAN Yunpeng YU Wentao ZHANG Ying XU Huazhou DENG Guoxing FANG Chaoyi 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,4:0
