1OsWRKY03, a rice transcriptional activator that functions in defense signaling pathway upstream of OsNPR1显示文摘WRKY family proteins are a class of plant specific transcription factors that involve in many stress response pathways. It has been shown that one Arabidopsis WRKY protein, AtWRKY29/22, is activated by MAP kinase signaling cascade and confers resistance to both bacterial and fungal pathogens. However, little is known about the biological roles of WRKY proteins in rice. In this study, we investigated the expression patterns of rice AtWRKY29/22 homolog, OsWRKY03, under different conditions, and also its possible role involved in plant defense. Our results showed that OsWRKY03 was up-regulated by several defense signaling molecules or different treatments. Further analysis revealed that the expres- sion of OsWRKY03 was light dependent. Transcriptional activation activity of OsWRKY03 was also demonstrated by yeast functional assay. Transient expression of OsWRKY03-GFP fusion protein in onion epidermis cells showed that OsWRKY03 was a nuclear localized protein. OsNPR1 as well as several other pathogenesis-related genes, such as OsPR1b, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (ZB8) and peroxidase (POX22.3), were induced in OsWRKY03-overexpressing transgenic plants. 2MSM and HIV/AIDS in China显示文摘This article profiles current status of spread and control of HIV/AIDS in China. China has a significant population of MSM (men who have sex with men) and they have been becoming very much alive in many ways since 1990s due to recent social changes. Some surveys indicate that great many of MSM are engaged in high-risk behaviors. In addition, majority of MSM have also experienced sexual encounters with women sometimes in their lives, which possibly con- tribute to spread of HIV to women. Some reports documented that HIV is becoming rampant among MSM since more than 1% of them are now infected. Political, cultural and custom elements could hinder intervention activities against HIV spread among MSM. Fortunately, many cities in China have seen that MSM were in cooperation with responsible institutions carrying out certain intervention measures. The general situation is promising. 3Climate and litter C/N ratio constrain soil organic carbon accumulation显示文摘Soil organic carbon(SOC) plays critical roles in stabilizing atmospheric CO2 concentration, but the mechanistic controls on the amount and distribution of SOC on global scales are not well understood. In turn, this has hampered the ability to model global C budgets and to find measures to mitigate climate change. Here, based on the data from a large field survey campaign with 2600 plots across China’s forest ecosystems and a global collection of published data from forested land, we find that a low litter carbon-to-nitrogen ratio(C/N) and high wetness index(P/PET, precipitation-to-potentialevapotranspiration ratio) are the two factors that promote SOC accumulation, with only minor contributions of litter quantity and soil texture. The field survey data demonstrated that high plant diversity decreased litter C/N and thus indirectly promoted SOC accumulation by increasing the litter quality. We conclude that any changes in plant-community composition, plant-species richness and environmental factors that can reduce the litter C/N ratio, or climatic changes that increase wetness index, may promote SOC accumulation. 5Osteoarthritis:pathogenic signaling pathways and therapeutic targets显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA)is a chronic degenerative joint disorder that leads to disability and affects more than 500 million population worldwide.OA was believed to be caused by the wearing and tearing of articular cartilage,but it is now more commonly referred to as a chronic whole-joint disorder that is initiated with biochemical and cellular alterations in the synovial joint tissues,which leads to the histological and structural changes of the joint and ends up with the whole tissue dysfunction.Currently,there is no cure for OA,partly due to a lack of comprehensive understanding of the pathological mechanism of the initiation and progression of the disease.Therefore,a better understanding of pathological signaling pathways and key molecules involved in OA pathogenesis is crucial for therapeutic target design and drug development.In this review,we first summarize the epidemiology of OA,including its prevalence,incidence and burdens,and OA risk factors.We then focus on the roles and regulation of the pathological signaling pathways,such as Wnt/β-catenin,NF-κB,focal adhesion,HIFs,TGFβ/ΒΜP and FGF signaling pathways,and key regulators AMPK,mTOR,and RUNX2 in the onset and development of OA.In addition,the roles of factors associated with OA,including MMPs,ADAMTS/ADAMs,and PRG4,are discussed in detail.Finally,we provide updates on the current clinical therapies and clinical trials of biological treatments and drugs for OA.Research advances in basic knowledge of articular cartilage biology and OA pathogenesis will have a significant impact and translational value in developing OA therapeutic strategies.Qing Yao Xiaohao Wu Chu Tao Weiyuan Gong Mingjue Chen Minghao Qu Yiming Zhong Tailin He Sheng Chen Guozhi Xiao 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,3:11

7Repeatability and Reproducibility of Quantitative Assessment of the Retinal Microvasculature Using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Based on Optical Microangiography显示文摘Objective The aim of this study was to determine the repeatability and reproducibility of optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA) based on optical microangiography(OMAG) measurements of macular vessels in normal eyes. Methods In this prospective cohort study, 40 eyes of 40 healthy volunteers underwent repeated OCTA(Cirrus HD-OCT 5000 angiography system, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc.) scans on two separate visit days. On each visit day, the eyes were scanned three times. The following parameters were used to quantitatively describe the OCTA images of the superficial vascular network: vessel area density(VAD), vessel skeleton density(VSD), vessel diameter index(VDI), vessel perimeter index(VPI), vessel complexity index(VCI), flux, and foveal avascular zone(FAZ). Coefficient of variation(CV) and intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC) were calculated for evaluating intravisit and intervisit repeatability, as well as interobserver reproducibility. Results The measurements showed high repeatability [CVs ≤ 4.2%(intravisit) and ≤ 4.6%(intervisit)] and interobserver reproducibility(ICCs ≥ 0.923) for all parameters. 8Breaking the barriers: advances in acoustic functional materials显示文摘Acoustics is a classical field of study that has witnessed tremendous developments over the past 25 years.Driven by the novel acoustic effects underpinned by phononic crystals with periodic modulation of elastic building blocks in wavelength scale and acoustic metamaterials with localized resonant units in subwavelength scale, researchers in diverse disciplines of physics, mathematics, and engineering have pushed the boundary of possibilities beyond those long held as unbreakable limits. More recently, structure designs guided by the physics of graphene and topological electronic states of matter have further broadened the whole field of acoustic metamaterials by phenomena that reproduce the quantum effects classically. Use of active energy-gain components, directed by the parity–time reversal symmetry principle,has led to some previously unexpected wave characteristics. It is the intention of this review to trace historically these exciting developments, substantiated by brief accounts of the salient milestones. The latter can include, but are not limited to, zero/negative refraction, subwavelength imaging, sound cloaking, total sound absorption, metasurface and phase engineering, Dirac physics and topology-inspired acoustic engineering, non-Hermitian parity–time synthetic active metamaterials, and one-way propagation of sound waves. 11Production of thick-walled hollow glass microspheres for inertial confinement fusion targets by sol-gel technology显示文摘To fabricate thick-walled hollow glass microspheres(HGMs)for inertial confinement fusion(ICF)targets by sol-gel technology,we investigated the effects of glass composition,blowing agent,refining temperature,pressure and composition of furnace atmosphere on the wall thickness of HGMs by numerical simulation and experiments.The results showed that the residence times of the thick-walled HGMs in the encapsulating and refining phases decreased with the increase of wall thickness of HGMs.As a response to this challenge,glass composition must be optimized with the object of high surface tension and low viscosity at refining temperature,and the blowing agents with high decomposition temperature should be used,furthermore the concentration of blowing agents in gel particles must also be precisely controlled.The higher volume fraction of argon gas in the furnace atmosphere,the thicker the wall of HGMs.Due to the limited operating range of furnace atmosphere pressure,changing furnace atmosphere pressure could not significantly increase the wall thickness of HGMs.Although increasing refining temperature can improve the yield of high quality HGMs,a higher furnace atmosphere temperature may lead to a decrease in the wall thickness of HGMs.When the volume fraction of argon gas in the furnace atmosphere ranged from 80%to 95%,the furnace atmosphere pressure ranged from 1.0×105Pa to 1.25×105 Pa,and the refining temperature ranged from 1600°C to 1800°C,we produced thick-walled(5–10-m)HGMs with good sphericity,wall thickness uniformity and surface finish.However,the yield of high quality HGMs needs to be further improved.The compressive strength,tensile strength and permeation coefficient to deuterium gas of thick-walled HGMs at ambient temperature decreased with increase of the wall thickness.GAO Cong QI XiaoBo WEI Sheng ZHANG ZhanWen LI Bo SHI Tao CHU QiaoMei 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,9:6
12Multiscale nanowire-microfluidic hybrid strain sensors with high sensitivity and stretchability显示文摘Nanomaterials with low-dimensional morphology have been explored for enhancing the performance of strain sensors,but it remains difficult to achieve high stretchability and sensitivity simultaneously.In this work,a composite structure strain sensor based on nanomaterials and conductive liquid is designed,demonstrated,and engineered.The nanowire-microfluidic hybrid(NMH)strain sensor responds to multiscale strains from 4%to over 400%,with a high sensitivity and durability under small strain.Metal nanowires and carbon nanotubes are used to fabricate the NMH strain sensors,which simultaneously exhibit record-high average gauge factors and stretchability,far better than the conventional nanowire devices.Quantitative modeling of the electrical characteristics reveals that the effective conductivity percolation through the hybrid structures is the key to achieving high gauge factors for multiscale sensing.The sensors can operate at low voltages and are capable of responding to various mechanical deformations.When fixed on human skin,the sensors can monitor large-scale deformations(skeleton motion)and small-scale deformations(facial expressions and pulses).The sensors are also employed in multichannel,interactive electronic system for wireless control of robotics.Such demonstrations indicate the potential of the sensors as wearable detectors for human motion or as bionic ligaments in soft robotics.Songjia Han Chunrui Liu Huihua Xu Dongyuan Yao Kanghong Yan Huanliang Zheng Hui-Jiuan Chen Xuchun Gui Sheng Chu Chuan Liu 2018npj Flexible Electronics2018,2,1:6
13A transceptor-channel complex couples nitrate sensing to calcium signaling in Ambidopsis显示文摘Nitrate-induced Ca^(2+) signaling is crucial for the primary nitrate response in plants.However,the molecular mechanism underlying the generation of the nitrate-specific calcium signature remains unknown.We report here that a cyclic nucleotide-gated channel(CNGC)protein,CNGC15,and the nitrate transceptor(NRT1.1)constitute a molecular switch that controls calcium influx depending on nitrate levels.The expression of CNGC15 is induced by nitrate,and its protein is localized at the plasma membrane after establishment of young seedlings.We found that disruption of CNGC15 results in the loss of the nitrate-induced Ca^(2+) signature(primary nitrate response)and retards root growth,reminiscent of the phenotype observed in the nrt1.1 mutant.We further showed that CNGC15 is an active Ca^(2+)-permeable channel that physically interacts with the NRT1.1 protein in the plasma membrane.Importantly,we discovered that CNGC15-NRT1.1 interaction silences the channel activity of the heterocomplex,which dissociates upon a rise in nitrate levels,leading to reactivation of the CNGC15 channel.The dynamic interactions between CNGC15 and NRT1.1 therefore control the channel activity and Ca^(2+) influx in a nitrate-dependent manner.Our study reveals a new nutrient-sensing mechanism that utilizes a nutrient transceptor-channel complex assembly to couple nutrient status to a specific Ca^(2+) signature.Xiaohan Wang Changxin Feng LiLi Tian Congcong Hou Wang Tian Bin Hu Qian Zhang Zhijie Ren Qi Niu Jiali Song Dongdong Kong Liangyu Liu Yikun He Ligeng Ma Chengcai Chu Sheng Luan Legong Li 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,5:5

15Prediction of the Mooring Force of a 2-D Floating Oil Storage Tank显示文摘A Constrained Interpolation Profile(CIP)-based model is developed to predict the mooring force of a two- dimensional floating oil storage tank under wave conditions, which is validated against to a newly performed experiment. In the experiment, a box-shaped floating oil storage apparatus is used. Computations are performed by an improved CIP-based Cartesian grid model, in which the THINC/SW scheme(THINC: tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing; SW: Slope Weighting), is used for interface capturing. A multiphase flow solver is adopted to treat the water-air-body interactions. The Immersed Boundary Method(IBM) is implemented to treat the body surface. Main attention is paid to the sum force of mooring line and velocity field around the body. It is found that the sum force of the mooring line increases with increasing wave amplitude. The body suffers from water wave impact and large body motions occur near the free surface. The vortex occurs near the sharp edge, i.e., the sharp bottom corners of the floating oil storage tank and the vortex shedding can be captured by the present numerical model. The present model could be further improved by including turbulence model which is currently under development. Comparison between the computational mooring forces and the measured mooring forces is presented with a reasonable agreement. 16Template matching for simple waveforms with low signal-to-noise ratio and its application to icequake detection显示文摘Template matching is a useful method to detect seismic events through waveform similarity between two signals.The traditional template matching method works well in detecting small tectonic earthquakes.However,the method has some difficulty when the signals have relatively low signal-to-noise ratios(SNRs)and simple shapes,e.g.a sinusoidal function.In this study,we modify the traditional template matching approach for this situation.We first construct a virtual three-component seismic station using vertical-component waveforms recorded by three stations.Next,we select a template event from the virtual station,and apply the traditional template matching.We then verify this method by detecting icequakes with simple waveforms on the Urumqi Glacier No.1 and compare the results with those from the short-term-averages over long-term-average(STA/LTA),the REST method,and traditional template matching method.It can be concluded that the modified template matching method using virtual stations has some advantages for seismic data with low SNRs.Haichao Ma Risheng Chu Minhan Sheng Ziye Yu 2020Earthquake Science2020,33,5:3
17Poisson's ratios and S-wave velocities of the Xishancun landslide,Sichuan,China,inferred from high-frequency receiver functions of local earthquakes显示文摘Landslides are recurrent geological phenomena on Earth that cause heavy casualties and property losses annually.In this study,we use the V_(p)-k stacking and nonlinear waveform inversion methods of high-frequency receiver functions extracted from local earthquakes,to sequentially invert Poisson’s ratios and S-wave velocities of the Quaternary Xishancun landslide,which is composed of three segments,i.e.,h1,h2,and h3 from bottom to top.Our results show that Poisson’s ratio values are generally higher than 0.33 and that the S-wave velocities vary from 0.1 to 0.9 km s^(-1).High Poisson’s ratios(>0.44)are mainly distributed in the juncture regions between different segments,as well as the western edge of h2.These zones show significant variation in landslide thickness and are potentially hazardous areas.Low velocities of 0.05–0.2 km s^(-1)with thicknesses of 10–30m are widely observed in the lower layer of the landslide.The high Poisson’s ratios and low-velocity layer may be related to water-rich materials in these areas.Our study suggests that the high-frequency receiver functions from local earthquakes can be used to delineate geotechnical structures,which is valuable for landslide stability analysis and hazard mitigation.Zigen WEI Risheng CHU Zhiwei LI Minhan SHENG Qiu ZENG 2021Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,7:3
18M5B3 Boride at the Grain Boundary of a Nickel-based Superalloy显示文摘The grain boundary microstructures of a heat-treated Ni-based cast superalloy IN792 were investigated. The results show that M_5B_3 boride precipitates at the grain boundary. A special orientation relationship between M_5B_3 phase and the matrix at one side of the grain boundary is found. At the same time, two M_5B_3 borides with different orientations could co-exist in a single M_5B_3 particle as an intergrowth besides existing alone, thus forming orientation relationship between the two M_5B_3 phases and matrix. 19Efficiency and safety evaluation of Baimai ointment for alleviating hypermyotonia following cerebral infarction显示文摘BACKGROUND: Baimai ointment has Shujin and Huoluo efficiency. It has been confirmed by basic pharmacodynamic experiments that Baimai ointment has some therapeutic effects on stroke. However,the detailed evaluations of Baimai ointment on clinically treating stroke patients for function recovery are still insufficient with little reports. OBJECTIVE: To observe the efficiency and safety of Baimai ointment on alleviating hypermyotonia following cerebral infarction DESIGN: A randomized,parallel and controlled experiment. SETTING: Department of Neurology,Beijing Aerospace General Hospital. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 120 patients with acute front-cycle cerebral infarction were selected from Department of Neurology,Beijing Aerospace General Hospital from July to December 2006 and met the diagnosis criteria modified by Forth National Seminar on Cerebrovascular Disease. The experiment had got confirmed consent from local ethic committee. All 120 patients with cerebral infarction were randomly divided into experimental group (n =80; 32 in the acute phase,32 in the recovery phase and 16 in the sequela phase) and control group (n =40; 16 in the acute phase,16 in the recovery phase and 8 in the sequela phase). METHODS: Within 4 weeks after the patients were enrolled in this study,no other traditional Chinese medicines containing similar components were adopted besides routine supporting therapy. The Baimai ointment being consisted of Jianghuang,Roudoukou,Gansong,Yangqishi,Gancao,She,shannai,Zanghuixiang,Zangchangpu,Huajiao and Jianhua was used by trial group (20 g/ampoule,Tibet Lingzhiqizheng Tibetan Drug Factory; batch number: 050403),2–3 times per day,the ointment was moderately coated traveling parts of Baimai. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The evaluation of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS),Modified Rankin Scale and Modified Ashworth Scale were performed before administration,2 and 4 weeks after administration. RESULTS: All 120 patients with acute front-cycle cerebral infarction were involved in the final analysis. ① Evaluation of therapeutic effects: After 4 weeks,the comparison of overall muscular tension and muscular tension in acute phase between the two groups (acute phase,chronic phase and recovery phase) demonstrated that the experimental group improved significantly (Z =–2.25,–2.06,P < 0.05). After 2 weeks,the change of muscular tension was not significantly different from baseline (P > 0.05). Whereas after 4 weeks,the change of muscular tension in acute phase was significantly different from baseline (P < 0.05); however,the change of muscular tension in recovery phase and sequelae phase was not significantly different from baseline (P > 0.05). After the treatment,the overall NIHSS and disability score of both groups did not change significantly (P > 0.05). ② Adverse reaction and side effect: There were two adverse events in experimental groups. One patient underwent petechia,and the symptom disappeared following stopping medication which did not reappear after remedication. The other patient complained of a pain coming from the place where the medication was used,and the symptom went away without treatment. Two cases of adverse events were not significantly correlated with the usage of medication,so both of which could not be confirmed to be adverse reactions. 20Pyrolysis of single large biomass particle: Simulation and experiments显示文摘Pyrolysis and heat transfer characteristics of single large biomass particle were investigated using threedimensional unsteady heat transfer model coupled with chemical reactions.The consumption of biomass and the production of products were simulated.Some experiments were designed to provide model parameters for simulation calculations.The simulation was verified by pyrolysis experiments of large biomass particle in a vertical tube furnace.The simulation results show the internal heat and mass transfer law during the pyrolysis of large biomass particle.When the biomass particle diameter is between 10 and 30 mm,for every 5 mm increase in particle diameter,the time required for complete pyrolysis will increase on average by about 50 s.When the pyrolysis temperature is between 673 K and 873 K,a slight decrease in the pyrolysis temperature will cause the time required for the biomass to fully pyrolyze to rise significantly.And the phenomenon is more obvious in the low temperature range.The results indicate that the numerical simulation agrees well with the experimental results.Kai Wang Huiyan Zhang Sheng Chu Zhenting Zha 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,1:2
